Terrific bike shop. I had a weird sound coming from the front disc break. I was planning 2 days of e cycling around Northampton and the ream took me in and took care of the problem . They were friendly, efficient and very capable. They made good recommendations re exploring Northampton . I highly recommend this bike shop and we had a blast cycling all over Northampton . read more

I called for help with a bike I purchased on facebook marketplace, they gave me some instructions of what I could to for a mend on my own, I was able to make some adjustments before coming in but decided to stop by anyway. They looked at my bike and gave it a quick adjustment for the alignment of the tires. I decided to buy a new kickstand that was not expensive and they installed it for free within 5 minutes. I will definitely be back- such friendly people and really helpful :) read more

Experience Incredibell Mirrycle at Northampton Bicycle! The shop offers everything from high-end electric bikes to essential accessories. I have two Mirrycles and I'd say it's the best design for those of us who are likely to stuff their bike in a hatchback and have to reset the mirror upon retreival. The rear view is pretty good. Mirrycle is positionable over and over, without becoming loose. Looks like high-impact plastic, possibly polycarbonate. Mirror is slightly convex for a large field of vision. Works great. $25 at this writing. The same Colorado company makes Incredibell, the compact alert system with an easily-relocated dinger, $13 currently. I wish all bikers used one. Oh yeah, NohoBike sells and services bikes as well. Recently, I needed a drive sprocket removed from a rear wheel and installed on another. $5, while I waited a few minutes. They've provided quick service for me on several other occasions. I'm confident they have all the tool that I don't want to own. And my wife bought her Giant bike there twenty plus years ago. She only recently sold that bike at a tag sale. I've seen too many other bike shops close in the past few years. Three that were closer are gone, but Northampton Bicycle was always a cut above. read more

We're visiting the area with our recumbent trikes and needed a disc brake adjustment. We stopped by the shop and they were able to look at it and do the adjustment on the spot. We really appreciate the awesome service and the friendly attentive staff! read more

I love this place to pieces. I was visiting the area for the first time and found out they had stopped their rentals for covid. Eager to spend days on the trails, a friend gave me her beaten up old cannon dale. The brakes and gears needed adjusting badly. The amazing crew here let me bring the bike over same day to take a look and for $15 the mechanic fixed the bike enough that it's taken me thru three happy days of riding. I can't thank this shop enough! Definitely support them! read more

I had brought my road bike in twice but didn't feel that the proper repairs/adjustments were sufficiently completed. Third visit, I was introduced to Neal (Neil?) who spent considerable time diagnosing and adjusting the front derailleur to the point where I felt was it was tuned correctly. Additionally, he took the time to explain some things that I could be doing for better shifting and maintenance. Would definitely recommend Neal for any bicycle repairs. read more

Every time I come in here, the service is great, and the staff is friendly and professional. Beautiful bikes to look at, too. A real gem of a place. read more

We were leaving for a vacation in Maine very soon. My wife's bike wouldn't shift. I told the service manager that I could come by another day if that was convenient. He told me to wheel it in and he would fix it while I waited. He measured for a new chain , installed it and adjusted the derailleur in what seemed like 5 minutes. The bike works perfectly and the cost was about the same as I could get a good chain on line without the installation and adjustment. The service manager treated me like I was the only customer in the store. It's a bit further to the store than to others, but I will never go anywhere else for our bikes. read more

Had to stop in here not once, but twice when we realized we forgot both of our bike locks during a weekend trip. The staff was friendly, and prices were very fair. Highly recommend. read more

I love the professional and courteous service from these people. They were very fast with bike service. All around great place.

Love this place. Everyone is always super friendly and knowledgeable. Bike shops can be intimidating to go to, especially as a novice, but I always felt like they took the time to answer every question and without assumptions or judgement. Really great space! read more

I rented bikes for me and my husband for 2 days, and it was a great time. Neil at the shop spent a while with us talking about where to ride, and then a nice person helped us out and was very friendly when we returned the bikes. Great value, fun bikes, great place to bike! read more

Bought an ebike in June. Was delighted with the product but then the chain on my brand new bike fell off repeatedly. People from the shop not only came to my home to help me put the chain back on with its obstructive chain guard, but also picked me up on the road when it happened yet another time. Leila tried her best to make the bike work for me, but to no avail. Lemon! It happens. So they, due to Leila's input I'm certain, replaced my bike. I am so happy with my new bike and I highly recommend Northampton Bicycle to anyone in town, or anyone visiting. Great service. Thank you, Leila and Kit and everyone else who was so very helpful. read more

I rented a bike from the folks at Northampton and I couldn't have been happier. The price was reasonable $ 35 per day for a hybrid bike) and the staff were very friendly and helpful. I highly recommend this place for rentals. read more

When I went in to buy a lock for my bicycle both workers were attending to other customers so I chose what seemed like a good fit for me. I wanted to make sure that I was getting something half-way decent though, so I tried to find the person least-preoccupied. One person was engrossed in fixing a cycle and the other person was near the counter helping a customer who had a very expensive racing bike. I approached the worker who was helping the racing bike guy when it seemed that he had a moment and asked if the lock I chose would be suitable. He seemed annoyed that I asked and took one look at my bike (an oldie but goodie) and said "For that thing? Yeah, it's fine." While I was there, other customers came in with their average bikes and received barely average attention. This seems to be a place for serious cyclists who have serious cash. I left the shop wishing I had gone to Hampshire Bicycle Exchange. read more

Well, I don't know how good there merchandise is, but I was really put off by the fact that their dedicated parking lot (with a sign that says it is for Northampton bicycle customers only), did not have a bike rack! When I asked the sales person, she nonchalantly told me I could have used the railing (to a staircase outside the store going to the second floor of the building), which I had. She continued in that vein by saying that people with fancy bikes can take them inside the store. Excuse me, this a a BICYCLE STORE. I expect a bike rack! read more

I cannot express how grateful I am for the folks at Northampton Bicycle, especially Leila! I am so impressed with the above-and-beyond customer service we received yesterday. We were driving down to Northampton from Becket to ride the bike path and as soon as we got off the highway we hit a speed bump and our bike rack and bikes went flying off the car. One bike seemed fine, and one had a major bent handlebar. The rack was caput. With a quick google search, I called Northampton and Leila immediately offered me advice and even helped my emotional distress by offering concern. She really helped me feel at ease!!! We went over to the shop and Leila and the rest of the staff helped us quickly and effectively. They looked at both bikes and fixed them up, even greasing the wheel and letting us know about some care advice for the bikes beyond the accident damage. I was ready to buy a whole new bicycle for the broken one, but Leila told me straight up she would never try and upsell a customer and really just wanted to help out and get us riding again. They replaced the handlebar and the wheel for us but were out of bike racks for the car. Leila actually went into the basement to dig up a bike rack (SOOO much higher quality than the one we had!) to sell to us. She said if it were a freebie they had, she would have just given it to us. Additionally, all while fixing our bikes and being incredibly knowledgable, Leila helped me with my emotional distress a million times over. She calmed me down, made funny jokes, and got me water from their cool bar area. SIDE NOTE: They have a super cute bar that's currently closed because of COVID but it's def a place I'd chill if you're in the area when they reopen!!!!! Leila truly showed me how people should treat customers. The staff finished the whole job in less than an hour, taught us how to use the bike rack, and got us back on the bike bath before too long. GO HERE IF YOU NEED HELP! read more

I thought I had reviewed noho bikes before! Went in as a noob & Leila was just, The Best! Showed me the basics & just loved her energy: warm, friendly, efficient, confident in my ability to recreate what she showed me!! Now i am Slowly wiggling my way out of the 7% of adults who dont know how to ride a bike! It is thrilling! Thank you!! read more

Really great service - people here are really attentive and nice and went out of their way to help me out. I really liked their selection of bikes and it was a cool little shop. read more

They spent a lot of time explaining about our 30 year old bicycle and made some very informative suggestions of ways to fix it or replace it. AND they were very kind to give us a bike box to ship one with. read more

HIGHLY recommend Northampton Bicycle. I went to get a tune-up on my bike and they were very transparent and honest about which tuneup I needed and did more than I expected. My bike was in tip-top shape when I got it back. read more

Very happy with the service we received at Northampton Bicycle. They offer comprehensive tune ups for the not so experienced biker. The tech walked me through the proper way to adjust my bike and remove the tire. The sales associate offered a variety of options for seats with differing in price points. I appreciate their attention to detail and the way they don't have pretentious attitudes like other bike shops- they also offer free air outside and a nice water cooler inside next to a comfy couch! read more

I am very unsatisfied with Northampton bicycle. They're overpriced, upsell and all in all do very poor work. I recommend you please look elsewhere for your bicycle needs. My mother recently took my bicycle there to get it fixed and told them to make it "safe". They proceeded to put on two new rims, handlebar grips and brake pads. This cost her $300. Did I mention the bike only cost me $300 brand new?!? Also what did they do with the rim that I bought from them last year that was in perfectly fine condition? Anyways, I just got my bike back today and the chain fell off twice on the 3.6 my ride home from work. I can't even go as far as to say that the bike is safe for the road in this condition. Do not go to this bike shop without checking out Competitive Edge first. I believe that the employees get paid on commission and will try and rip you off so be prepared to have your guard up. P. S. Taking advantage of people who don't know any better doesn't make it any more right. read more

I stopped in while touring from NYC to Bar Harbor, Maine. Great service. Cool guys. Highly recommend it.

I have twice rented a bike here while on vacation. Both times I have had a super good experience. Good rental bike, great service. They gave me an excellent route to ride and I got to talk CX with a knowledgeable service person. If your traveling through this area get your bike needs met here! Great shop! read more

I'm recommending this bike shop to all my friends in SF and the bay area who are travelling to Western Mass this summer and don't want to ship their bikes from home. They were really good with helping me find the store and adjusting my rental bike. I was also impressed they rent a high quality Cannondale Synapse which was perfect for our tour. I look forward to seeing them again when I tour at the end of summer. read more

I'm in the process of deciding on a new bike. The folks at Northampton bike have been great helping me through the process.

I brought my son's bike here just to have the chain and kick stand tightened. The man also pumped up the tires. It was done quickly and they didn't even want payment! I had read a few Google reviews but they were wrong. They are friendly and extremely courteous! read more

I spent a lot of time and money last summer at Northampton Bicycle and considered it my bike shop. The person behind the counter was always friendly and helpful. Then my last time in for the summer I was blown off by a guy in the service department - i explained the difficulties I was having with the bike, he was rude, put it on the rack for about 30 seconds and sent me on my way. Needless to say it wasn't fixed. I went in a week ago thinking my last experience was a one time thing. I needed to get the same issue fixed and was treated very rudely (even hostile) by the manager after two questions. I left and will not return. After talking to others about my experience sounds like Im not the only one who has been treated poorly. Bummer:-/ read more

My experience here was fantastic. I came in wanting to purchase a bike after many years of inactivity. I needed a bike that would be appropriate for someone who was out of shape but who wanted to get back into cycling. Lila (sp?), the salesperson, understood the situation and presented the alternatives to me. I felt no judgement whatsoever about my lack of athleticism or lack of knowledge. She let me try out a few options, talked me through the specifics (e.g. how to remove the front tire, how to lock up, how to use the helmet), and I left the store, having purchased a bike that I like and one I think I will ride! Throughout the process, I received positive, encouraging, helpful comments and advice. A great process -- all around! Thanks so much! read more

SUPER knowledgeable & SUPER friendly staff, great bikes, great customer service, and a fantastic selection of bikes, helmets & other stuff and a shop. Great EVERYTHING! LEILA helped us, we wanted to rent a tandem to do the Norwottuck Rail Trail but we'd never been on one before. Leila brought a bike out, explained how things worked (tandems are a little different) and suggested we ride around the parking lot to be sure "tandem" was the right fit for us. If not she offered to set us us with individual bikes. Once around the parking lot a few times & we got the hang of it, then Leila gave us a couple suggested routes. The Norwottuck Rail Trail is LONG (and conveniently about a block from the store!) We went 7 miles out, then back, the trail was lovely & we had a great time. I would definitely recommend NORTHAMPTON BICYCLE and the Norwottuck Rail Trail in Northampton. read more

My first time experience with Noho bike wasn't the greatest. The second time wasn't any better. My 9 dollar problem has now cost me over 25 dollars to fix my brake cable. When i brought the bike in the second time they worked on it and still its a issue. I will be bringing my bike to another shop. read more

I have been a customer of Northampton Bicycle for a couple years and really like going into the shop. You really get that the full timers are just nuts about bicycles. In fact, the head mechanic, Neal, has a tattoo of chain rings on his arm. Some of the mechanics don't seem to be quite as knowledgeable as him but they can do most things necessary. The thing that I really appreciate is that there is a totally positive vibe when I am in there. I am never made to feel stupid because I have no idea about the differences between the rear and front derailleurs (there are both, right?). I have never felt financially ripped off either; occasionally, I think they could have avoided charging me a few bucks but I have gone in there so many times to pick their brains or get free service. I almost feel like I am paying dues to be a part of a club, sounds goofy I know. Anyhow, I have never bought a bike from them but they have done several repairs and sales for me. I feel really good about the place and feel good that my bike is in good hands. read more

What a great experience! I drove 80 (yes, 80) miles to get there based on a personal recommendation from a long time friend and I couldn't have been happier. The advice from the sales people was spot on and they let me test ride many bikes until I found the one that fit me the best. Their prices were great, the post-purchase fit was spot on, and the adjustments that were made to my new bike had me flying on my 10 mile "shakedown" ride before they charged my credit card. I will be back for sure! read more
