I feel it is important to share my experience with Angie to provide transparency and help others make informed decisions. To clarify, I did not hire Angie for my birth or pregnancy care. My baby was delivered by a different midwife, who managed my home birth without complications. However, my midwife required emergency surgery after my delivery. Based on positive feedback from my doula, I sought Angie's help for postpartum care. Regrettably, I did not do sufficient additional research beyond my doula's recommendation. Three days postpartum, I passed a major blood clot that tore all of my vaginal stitches open. Since my midwife was unavailable, Angie came to perform the restitching procedure. Unfortunately, this procedure led to several issues: excessive suture material caused unnecessary tension and discomfort, some stitches that had torn were not adequately removed, and the stitches were excessively tight, causing significant pain and a prolonged recovery. Following the restitching, I began to develop an infection around the area and went through several rounds of antibiotics, but nothing seemed to work. Eventually, I was referred to OBGYN Dr. Payne, who examined me and confirmed that the stitching had been done incorrectly. Dr. Payne advised that surgery was necessary to correct the issues and address the daily pain I was experiencing. I sent Angie a detailed letter outlining the hardships and frustrations I experienced with my postpartum recovery. In response, Angie reached out to my midwife, suggesting a coffee meeting for the three of us. Unfortunately, we had to reschedule twice due to their scheduling conflicts, and after the second cancellation, Angie never reached back out to my midwife to reschedule. She never acknowledged the letter, offer a simple apology, or attempt to reach out to me directly. Instead, communication was solely through my midwife, who acted as an intermediary. Despite understanding that medical complications can occur, clear communication and direct support are essential. My hope is that this review provides valuable insight for others and encourages Angie to reflect on this feedback for future improvement. (My birth was October 2023, and my surgery occurred December 2023. As of September 2024, I would say I'm about 90% healed but still have some vaginal issues/pain during intimacy) read more

Angie lacks discernment, empathy, and knowledge in her profession. She misdiagnosed me with a serious condition and told us our son would likely not be compatible with life on the outside, and if he was, we could look forward to a NICU stay - with a stone cold face and monotone voice. Even under the impression that our pregnancy may not be viable, she failed to follow up with high risk providers and proper care. Come to find out my pregnancy was perfectly healthy, and Angie just doesn't know how to read radiology reports. I will publish the letter I sent her when I fired her for more detail. My only regret with this letter is that I was too nice. I see now that she took nothing out of this experience besides money. We received no apology or reconciliation and Angie ran off with thousands of dollars. I did tell her that we didn't wish to be pressured to continue services, but she had ample time make amends beforehand and failed to. Angie made numerous false claims in my medical records, including a false history of diseases. When I complained that I felt pelvic pressure consistent with prolapse, Angie charted this as a "saggy vagina". Not only is this unprofessional, it's offensive and medically wrong. Angie was not as kid friendly as she portrays herself. She made no effort to involve my toddler in our visits and even asked my husband to take him out of the room multiple times, disconnecting my husband and son from the prenatal experience. I see Angie's blasphemous replies. I don't feel like going back and forth so I'll leave this: if you're here, you know that midwifery can be a great option. Midwifery is safe. Angie is not. Angie is not the face of midwifery and it's hilarious that she's imposed this pedestal on herself. To Angie - your inability to accept responsibility shows you have 0 intentions of changing the way you practice. No co-conspirators. No cyber bullying. I have proof to back up my claims. A simple apology could have prevented this review. To expectant moms; don't be like me. These reviews are here for your wellbeing. Move forward with your search. There are many great choices in this area and Angie isn't one, nor will she ever be. To clarify, I did not risk out of midwifery care. The OB I consulted actually told me I could proceed with home birth. I CHOSE to leave Angie as my letter clearly shows. I had an extremely healthy pregnancy and birthed with ZERO interventions. I CHOSE a hospital over Angie and would do so again, gladly. Angie; don't flatter yourself and think anyone would devote their time to "co-conspiring" against you. Angie birthed my 6th grandbaby. As a former labor nurse, I am particular about ob care, especially for my daughter. Angie is very knowledgeable, calm, and quick to act if needed. Angie is a blessing to our family. When we tried to hire a midwife, we wanted to ensure our beliefs aligned. Not just religiously but about birth itself. Angie is a midwife, mother, and woman who genuinely believes in our perfectly designed body to bring the baby into this world. During the pregnancy, she always encouraged me to trust my body and motherly instinct whenever anxiety crept in. At every visit, we've had a great time as a family; my children were part of everything, and Angie truly enjoyed including them. (Our kids still talk about how much they love Angie) I've had some unusual requests about how I wanted to do things (mainly because I'm not a fan of interventions, monitoring, tests, etc.), and Angie respected my decision while making sure I was fully informed. When we called Angie as the labor started, she knew exactly when to come. Just seeing her during that challenging last moment of birth brought me so much peace. Unless you are positive you won't hemorrhage, miscarry or have any pregnancy complications, this midwife might not be for you. All complications seem out of her scope. However maybe she is better suited as an ok doula, because all the reviews on Google are from doula clients. She has practiced as a midwife for 1 year (30 births) and honestly she should have her license taken away! She is a danger to her clients! She has little medical training and it shows. Overall it takes very little effort to show empathy towards someone and Angie doesn't do that. She is very transactional and doesn't seem to actually care. As soon as I told her I was disappointed with her care, she stopped responding, sent me a termination of care document with the email saying accept this correspondence as a notice to stop contacting me. She immediately took away my client care portal and refused to give me my signed documents. I called Angie while I miscarried at home (she advised me it was safest to do that even with my fear of hemorrhage because I required pitocin afterbirth with my first born) she told me the bleeding was fine as I already filled up my bathtub. She told me to eat a steak and then later in an email told me I didn't prepare enough with supplements for hemorrhage and implied it was my fault. While on the FaceTime, she seemed she was occupied with her kids and was bothered I even called. I told her it seemed like it was a lot of blood and that I decided I was going to call 911 because she kept saying I was fine when I wasn't. She seemed disappointed in my call and didn't reach out (via text) until the next day. She then messaged me that it was my responsibility to keep her updated as I got revived by EMTs and hospital staff. She made it my fault for not keeping her updated, as I'm getting blood transfusions and on all sorts of medicines. My husband was disappointed because she didn't call or text asking where we were or offer any support. Maybe because it wasn't business hours? Anyways, what midwife wouldn't be concerned about her client when they tell them they are calling 911? Since I birthed at 14 weeks, I wasn't a client anymore in her eyes. She never once offered to meet us at the hospital or see if we needed any help or had any questions. She sent the termination of care on day 5 of us being in the ICU (she probably didn't even realize we were still in the hospital, as she never followed up or checked in with me.) Overall I cannot recommend her. I've had two different home birth teams in two different states before this and those midwives gave me exceptional care. I needed someone there for me. That's the entire reason you hire a midwife. A personal relationship who cares about you and whom you trust. This was a blessing she wasn't there for my full term birth because who knows if she would feel like working that day. I gave birth 8 months ago and through my trauma, I forgot that Angie was in attendance while I was in labor. I've messaged her but she has not responded. She was called in as the "Birth Assistant" by the on call midwife, who she is very close friends with, for another birth. She was there from 3:15AM to 9:30AM and I never pushed during that time. There were signs that she should have also noticed as a CPM of my labor failing to progress, but she wasn't there to care for me, so she never brought it up or charted about it. I gave birth over 12 hours later, at the hospital. She was not there to assist in my birth, but that didn't stop her from taking my money. She is very active in many mom groups on Facebook offering her services, but she never responded to my messages. I'm not discounting that she was there and did monitor me while she was present, but she was not there to assist in the delivery of my baby. I don't think that her actions warrant the $600 and her taking the money is not ethical practice. I know other mom's who have paid Angie for services that they never received and she refused to refund their money as well. She is also asking people to leave reviews to cover up the bad, some of which had their babies long before Angie was a licensed midwife and while she was under the instruction and supervision of another midwife which would not be an accurate account of Angie as a CPM. Edit to add after Angie's response: Angie is a licensed CPM and did not provide services for which she took payment. She has not addressed the issue and continues to deflect. Refusing to take accountability for your part of lack thereof, makes you part of the problem. read more

My wife would have died if we would have listened to Angie's advice. Here are a few things that make us believe that midwifery is out of her scope. Pregnancy, birth and postpartum is unpredictable. You could be the 1 in 4, 1 in 100 or 1 in 1000 that happens to have complications. She ensured she heard a heartbeat at our first 11 week appointment but finding out later on we had a partial molar pregnancy, it was close to impossible to hear a heartbeat at that time. Plus the fetus only grew to 8 weeks, it's also nearly impossible to hear a heart beat with a Doppler at that size. She also never tested my wife's HCG, which was incredibly high. She should have ordered an ultrasound after the first visit. At 14 weeks, my wife started spotting and Angie ensured it was normal to spot at 13-14 weeks and advised us to just wait and rest. My wife begged for an ultrasound since she was still spotting and her intuition told her that something was wrong. It was the weekend and all the OBGYNs we called were closed. She eventually squeezed us into seeing her recommended ultrasound tech, who put the wand on my wife's uterus and said I'm so sorry. He took about 3 minutes and we paid and left. He stated our baby was the size of an 8 week fetus and that our midwife will call us with next steps. He should have done a transvagional ultrasound and would have seen abnormal tumors growing in her uterus. Angies next steps for miscarriage was to give us a supplement plan and let nature do its thing. She implied later on that my wife hemorrhaged because she didn't follow said supplement plan! My wife would have hemorrhaged due to partial molar pregnancy and having abnormal cell growth imbedded in her uterus. If we would have known this, it would have been advised by any midwife or doctor that a surgery was the only recommendation to survive. Angie did say that if we decided we needed more help or wanted a surgery to get it over with, to go to Baylor ER Dallas and demand we wanted a surgery, which isn't a realistic option. My wife kept asking to get a referral to an OB because that's what an ER hospital would give you. It wasn't helpful going through this blind, especially since we paid her $2000 for one 45 min prenatal visit. We expected her to be there, in this with us! We did ask for a partial refund but she refused. Her lack of professionalism through the entire miscarriage baffled us! How can someone be so cold when her client almost dies? When my wife did go through labor and pass the baby, she started hemorrhaging. We FaceTimed Angie and she advised us that all was normal and to just put another pad on and let her know what happens. The pad filled up within a second. Then she said, well did you take the supplement course I sent you, go eat something with iron (specifically a steak) and electrodes. Again within seconds my wife is filling up the tub with blood and Angie said check back in with her in an hour. My wife specifically said to Angie that we were calling 911 and she said, if you think that's best. Angie did not follow up with us through the entire process of our hospital stay. I would have liked emotional support as my wife almost died and supporting us as we navigate the unknowns with the professional we hired. We are human, we make mistakes and we opened that door for her to ask to come visit us, offer any support and maybe even apologize but she closed that door as soon as her ultrasound tech called and said we miscarried, because in her eyes we were no longer a client. Her negligence could have killed my wife. read more

Two months ago I was honored to have Angie as my midwife to help me deliver my second baby in the comfort of my apartment home. Previously I had had a horrible experience with my first baby at a birthing center. I had doubts about doing a home birth again after experiencing so much pain and pressure from the first midwife. However, I took the chance when I met Angie. I knew she was different the day I spoke with her. I felt peace right away so we signed with her. From our first visit through the end of our postpartum visits, she remained the same - kind, positive, and so helpful in everything we needed. Most importantly, on the day of my labor, she showed up on time, she was supportive and allowed me to do it on my own. This let me know that she believed in me. She never asked me to push or to go into a certain position. She gave suggestions but never forced me into doing anything uncomfortable, and that's the best thing any midwife can do because she knows that you are capable. My husband and I still to this day tell all of our friends, "we felt so prepared for whatever birth and beyond would end up looking like because Angie did such an incredible job of educating us from a non-biased/evidence-based standpoint on anything from vaccines to choosing a pediatrician to options on pain relief." Nothing surprised us or took us off guard because she prepared us so well. To be able to match both professionalism and empathy is an extraordinary art, and Angie does it incredibly well.
