When I originally called to ask some general questions about what exactly a doula does, she was kind, patient, and so freaking educated about the process of childbirth. We were offered a tour of Baylor hospital (virtual due to COVID), newborn classes, and tons of educational resources after booking with NDDA. What stood out to me most was the fact that the all female team there just made you feel like you were so seen, every step of the way. As a Black woman, childbirth can be an extremely scary experience, just look up the statistics of mistreatment in the healthcare space for minorities. Melissa and team advocated for my husband and I. My primary reason too for picking this place was the fact they offer a beautiful placenta art print. I wanted to honor my placenta because it's such an incredible and powerful organ, and I'm obsessed with the art prints. They're both framed and are hanging up in my daughters' room. I've worked with Meredith L. and Madison Prez for the placenta encapsulation. They were both very easy to contact and responded promptly over text. I worked with Madison most recently, and she picked up the placenta and quickly processed it and delivered it to my home. I got placenta pills, a tincture, the keepsake cord, and the art print. I love the packaging and branding too- very alice in wonderland. I highly recommend this service and would work with Madison again. The art print she made was stunning!

This journey involved learning all about birthing centers, different types of midwives, different requirements/restrictions with each scenario, etc etc. We visited various birthing centers in Dallas and the surrounding areas but ultimately, and to our great satisfaction and appreciation... we were connected to Sweet Pea Midwifery and Olivia Delavega. We felt a huge sense of relief, because for my wife and I, having our baby in the comfort, energy, ambiance and convenience of our home checked all the boxes... Olivia, her team and her network were wonderful. Our experience with Olivia, Tabby and Iana (our Doula; within Olivia/Tabby's Network) was incredible. Well organized, cohesive, logical pregnancy plan coupled with a very informative and great emotional support structure from Iana. At no time did we feel pressured to do anything. Free will and free choice should be pervasive throughout our lives, but more and more it feels like some of those freedoms are slipping away. That wasn't the case with Sweet Pea Midwifery. We chose to have a 100% natural, zero pain intervention birth at home. Old School style... like they did for 1000's of years. At each step and with each choice we discussed the pros, the cons, the risks of each with Olivia and Tabby, asking countless questions, and in the end we chose the path that made the most sense for us and felt fully supported by the whole team. My experience with Olivia and Tabby was nothing short of exceptional. They helped me have the…read morehomebirth experience I've always dreamt of. Prenatal care was comprehensive and great. Although my birth was incredibly fast, Olivia was such a help to me. Not necessarily because of what she did, but how she encouraged me and empowered me to birth my baby. I have had 3 babies previously (with different providers in a different state) and not once did I feel confident taking the reins during the actual pushing. I always waited for other providers to tell me it was okay to start pushing, but with Olivia, I was confident and comfortable enough to let me body do the work and rest in that. Even when she gave me advice, they were more helpful suggestions than commands that I felt in previous births. I so appreciated her aid and reassuring presence. Postpartum care was also phenomenal and our whole family felt very loved and cared for. Olivia and Tabby have become friends and if we were to have any more babies, I would love to be in their care again. Thank you, Sweet Pea Midwifery, for such a beautiful experience that I will treasure forever.

We briefly discussed my wishes to have a natural birthing experience, but never really went in depth. As my pregnancy progressed I thought we needed to have a better understanding. I explained that I was most interested in a natural third stage. I wished for my placenta to self deliver to which he flat out stated no he wouldn't do that. As I questioned his reasoning he asked what he would be doing for 15-20 minutes while we awaited the placenta and laughed hold your baby. I replied, "no, I'd like to hold my own baby during that time." He then went on to explain how it wasn't physically possible for me to hold my own baby until the placenta delivers as the umbilical cord wouldn't reach. I was then left trying to find a new provider at 30 weeks. When I discovered FCMC it was such a relief. I knew by my first phone call with Linda that I would be in great hands. My prenatal care from there on out was exceptional. Christina made my birthing experience as pleasant as possible! The entire FCMC staff was truly a joy to work with!

Our doula, Kathy Abbate Voigtsberger, was so integral to the relative smoothness of both of my labors and deliveries, and my ability to follow my birth plans as much as possible. During the birth of Parker I swear she was the reason my labor was onl...y 12 hours and not significantly longer. Parker wasn't engaging even though my body was doing what it needed to be, and Kathy suggested one particular method that very quickly moved me to the next stage of labor. It was smooth sailing from there. During Tatum's birth, Kathy helped me stay firm in interactions with a less-than-accommodating triage nurse. She also kept me grounded and focused during transition and pushing. We didn't know till she came out but Tatum was sunny side up, and that made transition and pushing so much more painful and difficult than it was with Parker. She partnered with Tony Kellogg to empower me throughout. And when Tatum had to be seen by the NICU team in our room immediately after delivery, she helped keep me calm and focused while I waited to see her. For sure my midwives were amazing teammates and helped give me the experience I was hoping for through both births, but Kathy was the real MVP! Couldn't be more grateful to have found her.

My one start is mostly for her babysitting service for my 4 month old boy. On the two occasions we had her babysit our boy, we found her to be negligent with the baby. First, she would let my baby cry and not attend to him. My husband had to call her to let her know baby was crying. Second she used a phone and iPad on a 4 month old baby. We as parent have zero screen time for our boy and plan to keep it that way until he is 2 years old. Both of these incidents happened the two times we used her service. If you are looking for a decent babysitter you are better off avoiding her.

I feel it is important to share my experience with Angie to provide transparency and help others…read moremake informed decisions. To clarify, I did not hire Angie for my birth or pregnancy care. My baby was delivered by a different midwife, who managed my home birth without complications. However, my midwife required emergency surgery after my delivery. Based on positive feedback from my doula, I sought Angie's help for postpartum care. Regrettably, I did not do sufficient additional research beyond my doula's recommendation. Three days postpartum, I passed a major blood clot that tore all of my vaginal stitches open. Since my midwife was unavailable, Angie came to perform the restitching procedure. Unfortunately, this procedure led to several issues: excessive suture material caused unnecessary tension and discomfort, some stitches that had torn were not adequately removed, and the stitches were excessively tight, causing significant pain and a prolonged recovery. Following the restitching, I began to develop an infection around the area and went through several rounds of antibiotics, but nothing seemed to work. Eventually, I was referred to OBGYN Dr. Payne, who examined me and confirmed that the stitching had been done incorrectly. Dr. Payne advised that surgery was necessary to correct the issues and address the daily pain I was experiencing. I sent Angie a detailed letter outlining the hardships and frustrations I experienced with my postpartum recovery. In response, Angie reached out to my midwife, suggesting a coffee meeting for the three of us. Unfortunately, we had to reschedule twice due to their scheduling conflicts, and after the second cancellation, Angie never reached back out to my midwife to reschedule. She never acknowledged the letter, offer a simple apology, or attempt to reach out to me directly. Instead, communication was solely through my midwife, who acted as an intermediary. Despite understanding that medical complications can occur, clear communication and direct support are essential. My hope is that this review provides valuable insight for others and encourages Angie to reflect on this feedback for future improvement. (My birth was October 2023, and my surgery occurred December 2023. As of September 2024, I would say I'm about 90% healed but still have some vaginal issues/pain during intimacy)

Angie lacks discernment, empathy, and knowledge in her profession. She misdiagnosed me with a…read moreserious condition and told us our son would likely not be compatible with life on the outside, and if he was, we could look forward to a NICU stay - with a stone cold face and monotone voice. Even under the impression that our pregnancy may not be viable, she failed to follow up with high risk providers and proper care. Come to find out my pregnancy was perfectly healthy, and Angie just doesn't know how to read radiology reports. I will publish the letter I sent her when I fired her for more detail. My only regret with this letter is that I was too nice. I see now that she took nothing out of this experience besides money. We received no apology or reconciliation and Angie ran off with thousands of dollars. I did tell her that we didn't wish to be pressured to continue services, but she had ample time make amends beforehand and failed to. Angie made numerous false claims in my medical records, including a false history of diseases. When I complained that I felt pelvic pressure consistent with prolapse, Angie charted this as a "saggy vagina". Not only is this unprofessional, it's offensive and medically wrong. Angie was not as kid friendly as she portrays herself. She made no effort to involve my toddler in our visits and even asked my husband to take him out of the room multiple times, disconnecting my husband and son from the prenatal experience. I see Angie's blasphemous replies. I don't feel like going back and forth so I'll leave this: if you're here, you know that midwifery can be a great option. Midwifery is safe. Angie is not. Angie is not the face of midwifery and it's hilarious that she's imposed this pedestal on herself. To Angie - your inability to accept responsibility shows you have 0 intentions of changing the way you practice. No co-conspirators. No cyber bullying. I have proof to back up my claims. A simple apology could have prevented this review. To expectant moms; don't be like me. These reviews are here for your wellbeing. Move forward with your search. There are many great choices in this area and Angie isn't one, nor will she ever be. To clarify, I did not risk out of midwifery care. The OB I consulted actually told me I could proceed with home birth. I CHOSE to leave Angie as my letter clearly shows. I had an extremely healthy pregnancy and birthed with ZERO interventions. I CHOSE a hospital over Angie and would do so again, gladly. Angie; don't flatter yourself and think anyone would devote their time to "co-conspiring" against you. I HATE that I have to waste any more time on you and I HATE that you are a part of my story.

As a young first time mom, I was nervous about everything. Bethany and Becky were wonderful in their guidance and reassurance as we navigated the issues I faced throughout my pregnancy, birth, and postpartum journey. The resources offered and wealth of knowledge from these ladies is incredible. No question was ever left unanswered. The information Bethany shared with me gave me the confidence I needed to have the beautiful birth experience I had hoped for. Becky's experience as a mother reassured me when I needed someone who knew what it felt like to be in my situation. Rosabeth's calm and kind presence brought reassurance when I was doubting my abilities. Even the administrative assistant, Jessica, was ready to offer encouragement and kind words as we sorted through invoices and scheduled appointments. These ladies are on top of whatever may come, as they approach every situation with great wisdom and insight. I cannot recommend this team enough. I couldn't have done it without them!

I loved how she gave me a variety of options to treat my various pregnancy woes (homeopathic remedies, herbal tinctures & infusions, nutritional changes, chiropractic, physical therapy, etc.). She has a great network of other prenatal professionals that she refers to. While my pregnancy and birth were healthy and fairly uneventful, I had significant postpartum depression and anxiety coupled with a very fussy newborn who had a tongue tie. Bethany helped us find the team we needed to heal. I am so thankful for all of the care she provided for my family, but I truly don't know what we would have done without her during that difficult postpartum phase. She's so passionate about her job and what she does. She took me in at 33 weeks being an HG mom who was high risk most of my pregnancy. She kept me calm, assured me I could do it!
