Margie is an incredibly kind, gentle, supportive, knowledgeable, and professional midwife who genuinely cares about her clients in a way that is rare in any medical setting. Throughout pregnancy, she promptly answered any questions or concerns that arose, even making herself available between visits as needed, despite her busy schedule. Our older children came with me to prenatal appointments and they adore her as much as we do! She took the time to teach them and let them get involved in finding baby's heartbeat and position, which helped them get so excited to meet their new sibling. Leading up to the birth, we had some unusual findings in one of the blood samples that were run, and she put in extra time and effort to help us find the answers we needed to feel confident in our birth plan. There was also a risk of hemorrhage, but she wisely helped us weigh all of our options before, during, and after the birth so that we could have the safe and beautiful delivery we hoped for. Margie and her assistant midwife, Neta (who is also wonderful), accurately assessed the health of both mom and baby and responded quickly and professionally to any concerns that arose, including a very fast transition and delivery and maternal bleeding. We felt completely safe and empowered throughout the entire process because of Margie's clinical skill and compassionate demeanor. Birth can be unpredictable, and we felt well-informed and supported through every decision. After the birth, her standard of excellence continued, as she made multiple home visits to check on mom and baby and helped empower us make the decisions about his health we were uncertain. We are so grateful to know Margie and would highly recommend that others make the same choice if they are looking for a kind, gentle, trustworthy, skilled, and dedicated provider who truly cares.

My first birth was at a hospital and after doing thorough research, I realized that I deserved better than the care that I had received and knew that I needed a different experience. For my second birth I gave birth at Allen Birthing Center which was fantastic! This third time around, I decided to do several interviews of midwives in the area. I felt an instant connection to Margie and I knew that I wanted to go with her. I was having some financial issues at the time but she allowed me to make a payment plan and get a substantial discount. She really does care about people and want to help in any way possible. If you have formerly received obstetric care, I think you'll find that out-of-hospital midwifery care is a night and day opposite experience. Obstetrics focuses mostly on the baby and is very fear-based. Margie is very holistic in her methods and believes in the woman's body's capability to birth. She knows that the mother's emotional state is just as important as what is going on with her physically. Through our appointments I let her know my goals for my birth, including my desire to birth in an upright position. She made sure that all of my wishes were respected and I obtained the ultimate birth experience that I desired! I am forever grateful for her and consider her a friend. Ladies, please don't be fearful! Our bodies were created for this. Should a hospital transfer be desired or necessary, there is always a plan B and C for those scenarios. If you are having trouble getting your husband on board, I highly recommend having him watch "The Business of Being Born." Midwifery care is actually MUCH cheaper than standard prenatal care and hospital birth. If you choose Margie to help fulfill your prenatal, postnatal and childbirth needs, you cannot go wrong! I'm extremely disappointed with the care I received at Dr. Mitchell's office. My delivery was a…read morenightmare. After delivering the baby, I lost feeling in my leg and despite constantly asking for help afterward, my concerns were ignored or not treated seriously. I was scared to hold my baby or even walk, but no one seemed to care. I later found out I damaged nerves in my leg while delivering. This experience was incredibly frustrating, especially since I've had other deliveries at different hospitals and expected a certain level of care. Additionally, part of the placenta was left inside my body for months. I kept complaining about unusual bleeding and pain but was dismissed similar to when I brought up the numbness in my leg. It wasn't until I demanded an ultrasound--after talking to other doctors online--that they finally took action and realized what was going on. Even then, I had to practically beg them to remove it before the Thanksgiving holiday. It felt like they were more concerned about their holiday plans than my health. I realize diagnosing health issues isnt easy and mistakes can be made. But I dont have tolerance for rude or disrespectful behavior. The straw that broke the camel's back happened the other day. After arriving for a recent appointment, I was asked to sit in the waiting area and would be checked in shortly. Another patient arrived after me and was immediately being checked in. I was confused so went to ask if I could also be checked but was quite rudely asked to wait. I've finally decided to find another doctor. I hope this review helps bring attention to the issues at this office so they can start treating all patients with the care and respect they deserve.

I have since moved back and attempted to make an appointment with her as she was my previous OB and I was still a CURRENT PATIENT for GYN. However they (MELISSA) refused to schedule me an appointment because I'm over 15 weeks pregnant. I have my full medical record from my out of state provider and when asked what my options were she said that I needed to call my old out of state provider and go back there (ITS OUT OF STATE I CANNOT GO BACK THERE???) and was told that if I came in for my annual Pap - this was scheduled for a month out that I would be turned away for not just that appointment because I am pregnant but ANY APPOINTMENT. As a current patient and a previous OB patient, I just don't see how an office that should advocate for helping pregnant women turns away PREGNANT WOMEN. Especially their own patients.

I met Dr. Havemann who was able to review my HSG results and create a game plan for me. It was the first time o felt heard since 21 when I originally started my journey of trying to figure out why my cycles were so irregular and painful. Turns out I had stage 4 endometriosis and damaged tubes by the time I met Dr. Havemann. She referred me to Dr. Valenti to perform the procedure and I feel better now at 36 than I did at 26. We have met several times to discuss next steps and she explains them to me beautifully. I walk away feeling heard and seen and that is huge to me when finding a fertility team. We started my IVF cycle and mid way realized something needed to change. Even if IVF isn't successful for me I finally have my life back after getting my endometriosis removed and my damaged tubes taken care of this past year. The McKinney office is super clean and the staff is friendly. Everyone greets you with a smile from the financial side to the front office employees that check you in. My husband and I feel very taken care of and that we have a team of people who will do the work to figure the root cause and create a solution that we feel comfortable with as a couple. Dr. Havemann gave me my life back and that is something that 10 doctors prior to her weren't able to do! As a women I usually would here from OBGYNs that "I needed to work out more" "lose more weight" or "this could be a form of anxiety" How am I supposed to work out more when I have debilitating menstrual cycles?
