I needed an oil change on an early Sunday morning and someone to take a look at my breaks after the closest Jeep dealer to my home quoted me $150 JUST for a diagnostic. Thankfully, I found North Shore Shell as one of the only places open early on a Sunday in the burbs. Honest, affordable, and the kind man working also told me what was wrong with my breaks for free. Finding an honest mechanic that won't charge unnecessary fees is such a breath of fresh air. Coming here was definitely worth the 12 mile drive and I'll be back for whatever repairs I need as they have gained my trust. read more

Driving home from work my X5 kicked up a roofing nail. I pulled in around 615 and was out in 30 minutes. These guys were quick and professional. The older guy who did the work is direct and not overly personable but he got the job done and that is all I could ask for. 30 bucks and I was on my way home. read more

They are located in my neighborhood and have full service car repairs. They are friendly and the mechanic is fully trustworthy. We have been taking our cars here for 19 years. I am fortunate to have them in my community. I brought one of my cars to the dealership 19 years ago and they said I needed repairs exceeding $2,000. I then brought the car to get checked out by Tom and 1 only needed a fraction of the repairs. I never considered going anywhere else. read more

Okay, so it's just a Shell station. But, the employees have always been friendly, the price is usually 1-3 cents cheaper than the Shell on 41/Park Ave West, and the oil change service is good. For cheaper than Jiffy Lube et al., they do pretty much the same services and checks (fluids, etc.). Not only that, but they really fought to squeeze me in without an appointment the day before Thanksgiving when we were leaving for a road trip, and got it done reasonably fast even though they don't have nearly the size staff of a Jiffy Lube (usually just one or two guys). AND, best part, when my husband took his car in for an oil change, they not only finished in less than 20 minutes, but they also took it upon themselves to pound out a big dent near the driver's side door hinge, which used to cause a noise so awful whenever the door was opened that my husband would get in through the passenger side just to avoid it. Now he can get in through the proper side of the car and not be ashamed. P.S. This Shell is actually on Half Day and Waukegan, by Dominicks and Panera. The map isn't quite accurate. read more

These guys always get the job done fast and for a very reasonable price... And the work is always done correctly. I've been taking my cars there for years and can't see myself going anywhere else. I'd even drive my cars up to them back when I lived in the city! They are terrific about squeezing you into the schedule on late notice and are very trustworthy guys. I have to say that the customer service here is great. People are friendly and prices are fair. Not only that, but when I needed a new set of tires I price shopped them with all of the tire companies and even Costco and they had the best pricing. I go here for all of my oil changes and they are fast and convenient. I'd like supporting local businesses and this one always gets my business. read more

The nicest--- something was wrong with my windshield wiper and the kind attendant fixed it and wouldn't charge me. An angel saved my day!!!!

We bring our cars here for all repairs, have been for years. If they can't do it, they'll recommend where to go or if they think they are pricey for the repair, they'll let you know too that someone else could probably do it cheaper. they are a small shop always friendly and gets the work done quick and done right. read more

As good and honest as you get. After taking our daughters Ford Escape to Highland Park Ford - which they tried to gouge us we took it over to this Shell station and they did the work in a timely fashion and for much less. My husband who knows a lot about cars knew that the dealers price was ridiculous and checked the Shells work and was very pleased. We trust them. read more

Every once in awhile life throws a curve ball at you. This morning the curve ball took the form of my crank shaft pulley crapping out on me during my commute. The guys over at the Bannockburn Shell station really took care of me! A flat bed was at my location under 15 mins and quickly diagnosed once at the shop. The mechanic was honest and knowledgable with his assessment and estimated a few hours wait til he was able to service my car. Since I live in wilmette and was not able to contact anyone who was able to give me a ride John, who was working the cashier and happened to be the owner offered me a ride home while he'd be out running errands. My faith in humanity has been healthily restored after my experience with these guys. The car was fixed and I was back on the road before I knew it! The pricing of the shop is fairer than most but their customer service is what sends them over the top! Thanks again guys!
