I've been here several times before and have always enjoyed my experiences, so I thought this would be the perfect place for a get-together with friends to celebrate one of our pregnant friends who is getting ready to welcome her little one! I made a reservation ahead of time so we wouldn't have to wait, and everything went smoothly. We were seated promptly at a table right in front of the kitchen, which was actually a really nice spot. Our server, Pratim, was very friendly and attentive throughout our visit. A couple of my friends ordered drinks, including Prosecco and a Lemon Drop, and both looked delicious. We started with the truffle bread and burrata. I've had the bread before and already knew I enjoyed it, but this was my first time trying the burrata, and I was pleasantly surprised by how much I liked it! For my entrée, I decided to try something new and ordered the Margherita pizza with extra sauce and cheese. This was actually my first time trying the pizza here, and I have to say it was absolutely delicious! My other friends ordered the Chicken Parmesan, and everyone seemed to really enjoy their meals. Of course, I couldn't leave without dessert! I originally wanted to try the salted caramel dessert, but unfortunately, they were out of it. I opted for the Affogato instead, which is ice cream served with espresso. While I enjoyed the flavors, I found that I preferred tasting the ice cream and espresso separately rather than together. I also made two trips to the restroom during our visit, and both times everything was clean and well-maintained. Overall, another wonderful experience! Between the delicious food, inviting atmosphere, and attentive service, this restaurant continues to be one of my favorites. The restaurant is bright and airy and is welcoming from the minute you walk in the doors. The bar is nice and big so you can sit either inside or outside and get attentive service. The servers are all professional and give great recommendations. Our server, John (sp?), was terrific. He suggested I add a side of hot honey for the Funghi pizza, definitely do it. It's great! The lasagna was nice, but if you're not a fan of Italian sausage and fennel, this is not the lasagna for you. The Ricotta Cavatelli is that star of the show for our lunch. It is so light and tasty. This is always one of our go-to's for Italian in bham!! They always make their pasta from scratch and it hits every time. North Italia's food has the been consistently fantastic! We've been going since they opened. Every time, without fail, the food hits the mark. That said, pricing has always been outrageous, and it's becoming harder to overlook. For example our most recent trip, we had two mains, and an appetizer, and the bill was $90. Had we gotten drinks, desserts, or any extras, we'd be looking at $150+. I asked for extra tomato sauce to go, and I was given what was literally two tablespoons of sauce, charged at an outrageous $3.50. I get that things are pricier now, but tomato sauce is one of the cheapest ingredients, organic or not and as a chain, I can guarantee you this isn't small batch, nor locally made. The markup here was just shocking. I know things cost more these days, but the price does not match the value. For this price point, you would expect much higher quality dining and you can get that easily in Birmingham. It's still a great dining experience, but we're increasingly cautious because the pricing has been a concern for years. We decided to order a little bit of everything and every single dish delivered. The calamari was perfectly crisp with a spicy aioli that had real flavor. The white truffle garlic bread was rich and indulgent without being overpowering. The Little Gem Caesar was fresh and light , the perfect balance to everything else. The hot honey & smoked prosciutto pizza was amaaazing! Thin yet fluffy crust with great chew and layered flavor. The spicy rigatoni vodka had an amazing sauce and perfectly cooked pasta. So bold, creamy, and balanced. For dessert, we went all in. The seasonal butter cake was decadent, the maple glazed bombolini (my favorite) came warm and filled with apple, and the vanilla gelato was a great palette reset. I topped it off with an espresso martini and officially called it a feast. Chain or not, this place executes. The service was great; the restaurant was very intimate yet laid back. Have been wanting to try this place for a while and was able to check it out with a gf. To start, I was completely unaware of how absolutely gorgeous the interior was decorated. It was so intimate but opening. Every little detail played a part in the overall aesthetic. We went mainly for the happy hour and believe me we were definitely happy when we left. Our server was amazing and very helpful. I had the espresso martini and the pomegranate mule. Both were absolutely excellent. Props to the bartender. The restaurant had a wonderfully clean and modern interior, filled with a great mix of diners--from families to couples. ​I ordered the Margherita pizza along with the shrimp Scampi in the photo. The Margherita pizza had a perfectly chewy crust and a wonderful, healthy taste. The shrimp Scampi was also fantastic, with the garlic and olive oil pairing together beautifully. ​On top of the great food, the staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming. I had a reservation but it took a few minutes for the staff to find the best place for me since I was alone. But they were friendly about it and sat me down after a few minutes. My waitress was great but the timing of the food was way off. My drink came quickly but then my salad and later my entree took forever. It should not take 15-20 minutes to make a salad. Then another 15-20 minutes for my entree. They were very busy but food should not take that long. Also my empty plates sat on my table even though my waitress and other staff came by several times. Maybe only the busers take empty plates but it just seemed weird. I started with the pomegranate mule with vodka. This was very tasty. Did not get served in a copper cup but otherwise was nice. Both of my dishes had been updated for fall and were both delicious. I started with the seasonal vegetable salad. This had lots of yummy stuff in it - sweet potato, brussel sprouts, arugula, radicchio, and a few other things. Very tasty! For my entree, I had the seared scallops with risotto. There were sweet potatoes in the risotto too. Scallops were perfectly cooked. A bit of spice on them. Very tasty. I had a scoop of mango sorbet for dessert. A nice finish to my meal. North Italia is a great date spot... which was mildly awkward because I went with a buddy whose pants I was NOT trying to get into. The lighting is low, the tables are cozy, and the vibe basically demands deep eye contact and meaningful conversation. At one point I'm pretty sure he thought the night was going somewhere... and I had to subtly remind him this was a friendship risotto, not a romance risotto. Aaaaaanyway... the restaurant itself is excellent. The staff was friendly and attentive the whole night. I ordered an old fashioned that came with the proper large scube... always a sign the bar knows what it's doing. For dinner I had the braised short rib risotto and it was a knockout. The short rib was so tender it basically collapsed if you looked at it too hard, and the risotto was creamy and full of flavor. All jokes aside, it's a really solid spot and perfect for a date... or apparently a very emotionally confusing dinner with a friend. My sister was in Birmingham, and she wanted to treat me to dinner for my birthday. Of all the wonderful restaurants in town I wanted Italian, and so I decided on North Italia. It did not disappoint. We had a wonderful dinner and great service. We started with the Classico Chef's board, and it was amazing. The board included a beautiful collection of cured meats, cheeses, and nuts. The freshly baked hearth bread had a crusty exterior and chewy interior. Sister, wife, and I decide to share an entree, salad, and side dish. For the entree we selected the Spicy Rigatoni Vodka. We ordered the Tuscan Kale for the salad and the Glazed Chioggia Beets for our side dish. Sharing prevented us from over ordering and this was enough food for the three of us. I loved the entree. The rigatoni was cooked just right, and the sauce and sausage were portioned perfectly. The sauce was flavorful, and spicy but not excessively spicy. The kale salad was a nice combination of fresh ingredients with a delicious vinaigrette dressing. The fried pancetta and croutons give the salad a crunchy finish to each bite. The glazed beets were my least favorite piece of the meal, but they were not bad. My sister enjoyed them. Had a lovely lunch at North Italian in Birmingham! We sat outside and really enjoyed the stylish and relaxed patio setup--it's a great spot for a warm day. I had the Squid Ink Tonnarelli paired with a Peach Bellini--both were fantastic! The pasta was rich and flavorful, and the Bellini was light, fresh, and not overly sweet. My friend ordered the smoked salmon avocado toast, which was beautifully presented and full of fresh flavor. Only downside: we ordered the calamari, but it never came. It was a bit of a letdown, but the rest of the experience was so enjoyable that we didn't let it ruin our meal. We had dinner this part of town last night, there was no restaurants to where we were staying at, we decided to come back here, and as we drove around The Summit, we spotted a photo of a pizza, that we were craving for dinner! We parked the car, and walked in, and were seated where I wanted to sit, with a friendly staff. We browse through the menu, but we didn't care any of that, I wanted what I saw, and we came for a pizza and that's what we got! We also ordered a side salad of Arugula & Avocado with Salmon extra. Both were shared, including the salmon evenly when it arrived. The Lasagna Verde pizza was a new introduced during Pi Day 2025, and if you don't get one now, say goodbye when it's gone on the 11th (today). We were both NOT SORRY, everything was delicious, yes it's even more tastier when shared by a love one. Just moved to the area about a week ago along with our friends that moved here a few months ago and they said they ate at this place last week and that it was really good so we decided to meet them there since we were already at the Summit. I had my concerns for a second whenever I looked them up online and it said it was a chain. I will say I have not been to many Italian restaurants that I was impressed with. We called around 4:40 PM hoping to get in at 7 PM and the lady said the soonest reservation was after 8 PM, but we could come in and put our names on the list. We put our names on the list around 5:55 and it was just a little over an hour until we were sat down. Which was at 7 PM which was the original reservation we hoped for. The service was ok. It was almost 10 minutes before they took our drink order. The espresso martini was so good! I had 2. My friend got the orange Creamsicle margarita? I think that's what it was called, but she loved it!!! I was going to switch to the house Moscato for more affordable option, but it was $16 which was the same price as espresso martini. The hot honey prosciutto pizza is what I got and it was so good! Loved every second of it. My boyfriend got the chicken Parm and we shared our entrées. I was way happier with the pizza for sure because I felt like the chicken Parm was too dry for my liking, but it was good. Don't think I'd ever go there and order it after trying it, but one of the people we ate with got it, which was exactly what he got last time so I guess he was happy enough with it to order the same thing. All of the appetizers are pretty expensive but we got the bread and split it with the other couple on our bill. It was pretty good! I think our bill before tip was $110 for two entrées, half an appetizer, two waters and three alcoholic drinks. Honestly think the quality and price aligns well and that the food and drink drinks were worth it. The vibe inside is nice. Not loud and not quiet. For the main dish, I chose the Bolognese which is a house specialty made with fresh pasta. It was made with a traditional meat sauce, pappardelle, gran padano, wild oregano and evoo. Came here with some friends for a weekday lunch. This restaurant is a bit more upscale with a large Italian menu. We all ordered salads and shared the white truffle garlic bread. I ordered the tuscan kale salad and added chicken. The salad was good but very salty. I wouldn't order that specific salad again but I'd be happy to try other dishes from the menu. My coworkers and I went to this restaurant after work on Wednesday. I arrived late and was seated at the table that was reserved for my colleague, but little did I know they were sitting outside. Thankfully, David (who was working the table) helped me get outside to my coworkers. They had already ordered and their dinner plates had just arrived. Three of them ordered sea scallops, which looked delicious, and the other ordered chicken Parmesan, which looked really good also. After reviewing the menu, I ordered the Lasagna Bianca. Natalie, our server, got my food to me in about 15 minutes, and it was delicious! I was very impressed that there was SO much flavor in the smaller size dinner portion. I also ordered the Tortellini alla Pomodoro for my husband to take home, and she got that ready while we were eating. We asked about dessert and she brought out the dessert menus. Most of us got the seasonal butter cake, and one got the Tiramisu. The punch of flavor and lightness of the butter cake was absolutely incredible. This was amazing.
