Glad to see I'm not the only person with concerns about the cleanliness of this place. The last time I was there became the last time I will be there. Is the family nice? Yes. Do they work hard? Yes. As a matter of fact, I never had a bad sandwich. But after looking around while waiting, the dust, cobwebs, and grime on the floor got to me. Saw this deli on my way home and stopped in after checking the reviews. Come home to find hair in my sandwich. When I called the business the owner told me to freeze the sandwiches and bring them in when I was back in Norwood again. This is the most bizarre suggestion I have ever heard a business owner make. I explained to the business owner that I'm not keeping someone's hair wrapped in a sandwich in my freezer. He yelled & hung up. This is the most filthy food establishment I have ever seen. There is clutter everywhere including old pill bottles just sitting on the deli counter. When I was there I kept thinking ok if it has good reviews and if its open per the Board of Health it must be ok. I ended up throwing the sandwiches away and will never return. read more

North End Deli has been a Norwood staple for a very long time. I'm not sure how long they have been in business, but I remember getting delicious subs there in middle school, so it has definitely been around for a while. The subs are consistently excellent, with quality ingredients and a large selection of meats and cheeses - and they don't skimp on the amount of meat that they put on the subs. You get a LOT of food. The bread is amazing, whether you get the scala bread or a pita pocket. It's soft and fresh. The family that owns the place is really nice and they always get my order right. In addition to subs, they also sell Italian ice, some pastries, prepared Italian dishes (which vary) like pizza, and imported grocery items. I gotta say, for my money, these are the best subs in Norwood. If you are in a hurry or have a big order, phone it in ahead of time for pickup - the lines can get really long around lunch time! read more

Very disappointed in this place. The food is pretty good but are they running a deli or daycare. The have children in a pen in the middle of the floor. What are they thinking?? You're trying to place an order and they are more focused on the kids, which the should be, except kids shouldn't be there !!! I started looking at the floor while I was there and it's filthy! Good news first. Extremely friendly, welcoming, Sandwiches are fantastic. It reminds me of an old style deli from downtown Boston in the North End. Not such good news last. The place is dark and somewhat dreary. It looks a bit like folks have given up on the place. That's too bad. I didn't know how many stars really- the place is confusing. The staff was friendly and helpful. The service was quick; the options are some of my favorite combinations. The sandwich I got was pretty delicious. Strange strange setting though. It was dirty and the shelves were empty. The stuff they did have on the shelves and in the freezer looked old and there was clear freezer burn on the meatballs and sauce. It was like... having someone's uncle serve food out of their garage or something. Dusty, grime, a random collage of family photos. I can't believe there are no reviews for this place. (It's a tiny market which also happens to make sandwiches.) The sandwiches they make are second to none. I get the Italian sandwich each time I go. My wife gets either the meatball sandwich or the proscuitto w/tomato and basil- we usually share half and half. The quality of the ingredients are great and I swear they prepare each sandwich as if it were for themselves. Best Italian sub I've ever had. Fresh meats, roll and toppings. The hots are awesome with the perfect amount of heat yet still sweet. Went around 1 PM and there were about 5 people waiting and it only took about 10-15 minutes to get my order of 3 sandwiches to go. Was welcomed by a very dirty interior, half stocked shelves and unused refrigerators laying around. Ordered a #22 with chicken cutlet, fresh mozzarella, and prosciutto. The only thing good about it was the bread - soggy chicken with a piece of grizzle included, one paper thin slice of prosciutto, and I literally had to lift the bread up to check if there was mozzarella. Very disappointing, and for over $9 is a complete Italian hit job! Will not return. read more

Everybody who works here is so nice ! They have a good selection of all sorts of snacks & drinks & sandwiches ! They're the only place I know of around where you can get coke a cola in a glass bottle for 99cents and they'll even ask of you want them to open it for you! It's a really cute place !
