Finally tried this place after driving by many times over the years. I wanted to like it more than I did. Loved that menu items were named after Norwood schools. Staff were unfortunately not friendly. Tried their "famous" chicken salad - very weak and unappealing flavor. I also did not expect the skin to still be on the chicken. Lettuce was primarily the hard center piece and did not help the texture of the sandwich. Threw half the sandwich out. Braided roll was delicious. Had a delicious italian sandwich here and got a meatball sub to go as well. Service is quick and the turnaround time for sandwiches was so fast I was shocked. Portions are decent although things are getting pricier. Happy to pay it here as ingredients seemed fresh and the sandwiches were very big. Food is freshly made (i.e. bread/meatballs) amazing flavor and fresh even down to the croutons, they won't break your teeth! We had a combination of Hot subs and Cold subs, they were all so delicious and fresh, I swear the bread makes the sub so much more enjoyable! The feedback from everyone at the office was great! Gail took our catering order over the phone, she was very helpful and pleasant! We have a catered lunch order once a week for our company and I am definitely going to be a return customer. Only a small downside is that they don't deliver to Canton from Norwood, but no problem, we have a warehouse employee that had no problem picking up the order for us. I've been visiting this deli for MANY years. Every person that helped me has been fantastic! I love my corn beef sandwich and have enjoyed chatting with each employee over the years. I have been here twice for lunch. On both occasions I was very hungry, and their portions are very generous. But each time, the quality of the food was mediocre. The people who work here are very polite and helpful. On my first trip, which admittedly was about 4 years ago, I had a cup of watery, and fairly tasteless soup, and a turkey sandwich, which was okay, but was made with the slightly slimy and watery turkey (which indicates its water-added and not real roasted turkey). It wasn't inedible or anything, but was sufficiently unimpressive that I didn't return until last week. On my return, I ordered a meatball sub, as another Yelper had recommended it highly. Although the meatballs were huge, there was very little tomato sauce, and too much provolone, and so the sub was too dry, and (strangely) the strong cheese masked the flavors of the meatballs. As there are PLENTY of other good lunch spots in the area, this little place, with an underwhelming interior, is not on my personal list for righteous lunchtime food. read more

Mehh. Not impressed. I was in the area and wanted to grab something quick for lunch. I ordered the loaded italian sandwich. The braided roll was very dry. The ingredients were arranged in the strangest way - veggies on the bottom and meats on the top. The meats seemed like they were almost rolled into a ball and placed on top of the veggies. Anytime you took a bite, it was either all meat or all veggies. At least they all seemed fresh! I LOVE THIS PLACE. So much. Words can't describe the pure happiness I am filled with when I sit down after work to eat my meatball sub. Bonus points if a red gatorade is consumed as well. The meatball sub is SO GOOD. Best sub i've EVER had. Also, i've been a Monster Energy fan for a very long time and this has been the ONLY place i've ever been able to find Ultra Red and Blue. I think this place is under new ownership. Same menu, but they changed salad dressings. I always order the chicken caesar and it was very good. Picked up the same today, and they put tomatoes (which is never used in caesar) in the sandwich, no croutons, and the dressing is horrible. No taste/flavor at all. This place is fantastic!! I've been here 4 times in 2 weeks. I absolutely love the Balch sandwich! Boars head Turkey, bacon, fresh lettuce, tomato and mayo on your choice of bread. It's huge!! Cost is $8.02. I've also had the Cleveland Caprice. Prosciutto, fresh mozzarella cheese, tomatoes and fresh Basil with a splash of balsamic dressing. I've seen a few people take out the clam chowder too. Can't wait to try that. They have a specials board to the left when you walk in. A few big tables to the right to dine in. Also, a tv. It has lunch boxes that cover the top of the perimeter. Their awesome to look at. It takes you back in time. I want the Smurfette one!! The people are always extremely nice and it's really quick. I never wait long. Place always looks clean too. They have a card that they give you and stamp it every time you go and after 10 stamps you get a free sandwich. Don't forget to grab one of those. Terrible service. Don't come here. There are many alternatives within minutes nearby: Lambert's, Stash's Pizza, Royal Pizza, Papa Gino's / D'Angelo's, Broadway Pizza, Giorgio's Pizza, Victoria's Cafe, etc. Anywhere but here. The TLDR: I stood behind the rope that forms the line looking up at the menu when two people entered. There is a clear sign on top of that says where to enter the line. One entered the line, I entered the line, the first person made his order, then the other person went straight to the front of the line and the cashier took his order. I looked at the cashier, who made eye contact with me while taking the other person's order. Add to the fact that there were only three customers in line (or two and a line jumper); she clearly knew what she was doing. A simple "he was next," "the line forms that way," or basically anything would have resolved all this. The food is mediocre and overpriced anyway. Lambert's down Route 1 has all this with better ingredients and selection and is less expensive. There are many other options listed above that are all within minutes of here. read more

I am surprised by some of the negative reviews, I have eaten here a few times over the last 5 years or so and it always been very good! My visit the other day was no different. Staff was welcoming and attentive as I tried to decide on a sandwich and make my order. I got the loaded Italian and it was excellent! The bread was a little tough to chew but that's the style of bread not a statement on quality. The sandwich was big enough for 2 people to share (although I didn't) and the price was reasonable for the quality and portion. They are a cut above most all local sub shops. Only reason I didn't give it a 5 is I reserve that rating for "mind blowingly" good places. read more

"Sami, let's go to lunch!" That's what my boss said to me. So we got in his car and drove off to what I thought it was "going to lunch". So we drove and drove, we passed all the restaurants in the area and we got on route 1 south, away from the city, all the while without knowing where we were going. Then all of a sudden we pulled into the BMW dealer parking lot. We got in, the boss bought a brand new BMW for his daughter, then, instead of waiting for the paper work, we decided to grab a bite to eat, and we ended up at the Lunch Box Deli place which was on the other side of the highway from the dealership. I've always seen it every time I went to the next door Newbury Comics. Anyway, this place did not disappoint at all. I ordered the steak and cheese on breaded bread, my boss ordered the Italian sub, and my coworker got the pulled pork. We all loved our sandwiches, it is definitely one of the best sandwich places around, all fresh and clean. The sandwiches are big and very filling! Then afterwards, we went back to the dealership, got into the new BMW and went back to work.
