No frills spot and cash only which is not a big deal. However, the pan fried dumplings were a disappointment. They were soggy. Looks like they were sitting there all afternoon. The sauce and hot sauce couldn't save it. Was really looking forward to it after seeing multiple videos of dumpling spots in NYC Chinatown.

Pan fried dumplings 10pc

One of my go to spots for dumplings. This is the 2nd location they opened in Chinatown. Pan fried dumplings are cheap, tasty and are immediately ready. There are good amount of seatings to sit and eat for a grab and go spot. Note this place is cash only.

Beef Brisket Noodle Soup

Good food at very reasonable prices. Had the Chives & Pork Pan Fried Dumplings (solid), Beef Brisket Noodle Soup (a little spicier than I expected but very flavorful) and Sesame Pancakes (very good). Wonderful place to grab a quick bite or to satisfy that dumplings craving with friendly service.

炸酱面 noodles with meat and bean sauce

North Dumpling is my second favorite dumpling store in Chinatown besides the one on Grand Street. I don't normally get dumplings from here, but I always get the $4 noodle with meat and bean sauce (炸酱面), it is my absolutely favorite from this place. It comes out quick and it has tons of umami flavors of bean sauce with minced pork meat and a little potato bits. The noodles are always fresh here because many other dishes are made with the same noodles. They only accept cash here and it always comes out fast. It is my favorite comfort food and it feels like eating pasta mixed in very flavorful saucey/juicy mixture. This place comes with open seating and you can sit wherever you want as long as there are open tables. Tips are not required but cleaning up after yourself after your meal is definitely encouraged. This kind of courtesy keeps a small business like this running throughout the day. On a cold winter day, I like coming here because it is warm inside and it is usually pretty quiet throughout the day. It's less busy and there is always a seat to eat at peace without feeling like you're in a rush. I definitely recommend this spot for a quick and cheap meal.

Got 2 orders of the pork and chives fried dumplings. It was good but had better from other places in Chinatown. They just regular dumplings.

Came for a light lunch on a weekday afternoon and there was no line. My friend and I shared the chive and pork pan fried dumplings, which were tasty but had a cinnamony or otherwise sweeter spice in them that I didn't love. Would try their other items in the future because the prices are really good and they have a lot of seating inside!

Supposed to be chive pancake but just seems to be sesame pancake with bok choy

I came here on New Years Eve to grab some dumplings. It's a small place though i was able to sit down at one of their few tables. I got 10 dumplings and the price is under $5 so that is great . Flavor was heavy on the ginger but pretty tasty. They have soy sauce and Sriracha to put on it. I got a chive pancake but honestly it just seemed like a sesame pancake with literally 3 pieces of uncooked bok choy in it. No chive. I think they might have gave me the wrong thing. But the dumplings are good. And the neighborhood still has authentic vibes.

Quick, cheap eats and quick service. Good portions. Plenty of vegetarian options. Sauces at the table are watered down. Overall I'd give it a 7/10.

This is one of the better cheap eat places around Chinatown that is not a tourist trap. Forget about Shu Jiao Fu Zhou where it's chaos, or Chang Lai Fishballs which is cramped and tiny, North Dumpling is spacious, clean, and quiet. I'd say it's a place where the locals go for a cheap meal. It operates like a one-stall food court with more affordable prices. You order and pay (cash only) at the counter, go find a place to sit, and you wait for your dishes to be called. Yeah, I don't think they take names or assign numbers lol. Once you finish, you take your bowls and plates to the counter, or you can leave them at the table but you'd better tip accordingly. Their menu is more extensive than the aforementioned SJFZ or CLF, meaning it's less specialized. That said, the name sake does has the word "dumpling" in it, so we did order the potstickers which only come with one combination of fillings: pork and chives. The order came with 10 potstickers for $4. Great deal and you don't have to stand at the street corners to enjoy. Each table have soy sauce, vinegar, and chili sauce. Another thing to note is they supply forks instead of chopsticks. They probably do have chopsticks but we didn't bother to ask because everyone (all Chinese) used forks while we were there. Potstickers were good. We also asked for an order of Chive Pancakes - $3 for 2. While good, I've had better ones in Flushing. The filling was less full nor as tasty. Overall, I would recommend this place as part of your Chinatown food crawl.

Pork and chive dumplings

Another very good China town dumpling spot. Steamed Pork and chive dumplings are excellent !overly stuffed, juicy and flavorful. Dough medium thickness. Nice chew. Prices unbeatable.

Second location for this spot with more seating. The service was so delightful and cheery-the woman behind the counter could not have been more pleasant. We ended up grabbing two dumpling dishes. The sizes were nice and the prices were so cheap for the amount of dumplings. They were well-crafted and hit the spot. Super speedy to come out, as well. Would come back to try some of the noodle dishes.

Delicious dumplings in the heart of Chinatown. A friend of mine recommended I give them a try. She told me auntie at North Dumpling on Division Street makes some great dumplings and I've got to say she was right. Auntie was super sweet, my transaction was very fast because the menu is small but everything was delicious and super affordable. The wonton noodle soup was lightly seasoned and not overly salted like most places I've tried. A big container cost me $6.50. The dumplings were also tasty, not the best I've had but definitely great at $4.00 for 10 of them. Spring rolls and scallion pancakes, also very delicious. If you're ever in Chinatown, go visit auntie, she's the sweetest and her food is great. They do have indoor seating but I took mine to go. 9/10

Arvid Y.

Friendly service and an unbeatable value at $4 for 10 dumplings. Unfortunately, the dumplings themselves were a little lackluster for me. Honestly panfrying frozen Wei Chuan at home come out better than the fried dumplings here. They were just a bit soggy and missing the crispy texture that I am accustomed in panfried dumplings (esp if they all stick together). The boiled dumplings are probably the better choice. With that said, if your main objective is to get full for cheap, then North Dumplings might be your spot.

They changed their recipe!!! Dough is thicker and meat is less and they don't put any ginger. Sorry not going back. Might be new owners.

Got off the E train and when we looked for Chinese food, this place popped up with good reviews and it was just a short walk from where we got off the train. My buddies ordered the special lunches and we also got two types of xlb's, beef chow fun, and some fried dumplings. The special lunches come with a little fried rice, cold garlic flavored noodle, choice of egg drop or hot and sour soup, and main side. My buddies all enjoyed their meals. The beef chow fun was also really good and beef was nice and tender. The xiao long baos were excellent and is comparable to any place in California like DTF. Nice and juicy and great with some ginger, soy sauce, and spicy chili. Friendly service and food comes out pretty quickly. Credit card is accepted. Bathroom was also very clean, which is sometimes rare in some Chinese restaurants I have been to. If you're looking for a good Chinese meal, stop here when you're in the Chelsea area.

I hadn't been to EDH in a while and was happy to see they do have later hours (with a smaller late night menu). The place was pretty busy at 10:00 PM last Saturday, with a wide range of diners, which is good for business. The food though, at least that night, was really disappointing. My friend had the chicken dumplings. He said they were okay. I thought they were overcooked. My steamed shrimp shumai were fine, but steamed, they didn't have much flavour. The edamame, on the other hand, had way too much when it should have almost none. I don't know if it was excess salt, MSG or something else, but not good. I should have sent them back. I hope this was just an off night for the kitchen.

The pacing of the meal for the quantity of food received seemed very rushed, and we didn't really have a chance to relax and enjoy any of the courses. However, the quality of the experience was a complete disaster particularly for the price. Clearly, the packed restaurant would disagree, but for the four of us anyway, we would not return. It started with the check in process at what felt like a long hotel front desk with multiple, self important hosts and hostesses overseeing your entrance to the cavernous bar/waiting area. One problem is the noise is so deafening that you can't really hear what they say to you but we check in a few minutes early and waited obediently in the bar area chatting. After about 30 minutes (15 after our reservation time), and watching numerous parties large and small who arrived after us be seated by the hostesses wandering through the dimly lit space who peer quizzically and ask your name, my husband went to ask for an update. (We joked that those vibrating lighted buzzers alerting when your table was ready would have been super helpful, but it was amusing to watch while we waited). It was clear they somehow lost track of us as she had him repeatedly spell our (not unusual) name. Anyway, after that, within 10 minutes after that we were taken downstairs to our seats (but not before standing awkwardly in the large dining area near packed tables waiting while our table was cleaned). Server with a heavy accent was kind and mostly helpful so none of this is on him. The busser who managed to spill half a pitcher of cold water on my husband's back, soaking his shirt and jacket and barely apologizing, is a whole other story. We managed to get a glass of his mediocre Cabernet comped for the experience. If I sound annoyed, I guess I still am. I had high hopes for a fun and tasty experience in a cool part of the city and it just wasn't.

I'm a lower middle-class Jersey guy - what the heck do I know about cocktails?  But I dove right into one ("Jade Collins") and it was firing on all cylinders.  Crisp, clean, strong enough to knock over an ox. Then we got a handful of apps - everyone else swore by all the ones they'd had - but I just tried the Salt & Pepper Shrimp and... sweet baby Jesus, this little plate had a wicked amount of flavor from every angle.  "Aggressively seasoned" might be an understatement.  Wild. Onto the mains and I ventured towards their Spicy Drunken Noodle (my go-to whenever I'm hitting a Thai restaurant on my home turf) and... yeah, you probably guessed it - incredible. Not the biggest portion but they made every single component sing with flavor. With so much going on - of course I needed to indulge with another drink (hey, I wasn't driving!). There were six of us, it came to about $100 a person... welcome to NYC. But we did get a wide selection of plates/food and those two drinks accounted for about $40 of my tab. (And you'll never see such a heavy wine pour at a restaurant... they filled the glass almost to the rim - which was not even something I'd do for myself when I'm home.) Definitely recommended.
