RATING: ***** 5 STARS Briefly, NCME previously did an excellent install of two Kicker 6 1/2" speakers. Today, they installed a Pioneer DEH-S1200UB headset and the proper size wedge Kicker 48TCWRT82 - 8" subwoofer/passive radiator which they had in stock. They charged the same $216 price for the sub as Crutchfield. They hooked the subwoofer up to my Lightening 250W amp and the headset to my Clarion 200W amp. $150 for one hour labor was very fair. Total about $384 out the door. I had bought the Pioneer headset from Crutchfield, but Crutchfield gave me TWO wrong recommendations for a subwoofer for behind the seat of my Nissan pickup! Here is a review of NCME, Crutchfield and JVC: Audio life story of my 1991 D21: Recently, I wanted to get a CD player with a physical hand held remote. It turned out it was now only available from Pioneer model DEH-S1200UB. I ordered it from Crutchfield as soon as I saw they had it in stock. This head unit got pretty good reviews. I was amused that several people complained it did not have bluetooth. Nobody said it did. If you want bluetooth, buy a stereo with bluetooth. Why complain? This would be the third headset for my 1991 D21. The OEM was replaced with a Kenwood cassette deck and a CD player, 2 amps and a Polk 10" ported subwoofer. When that Kenwood went bad, I had a JVC unit installed by a shop on Clairemont Mesa Blvd with Sony speakers that were never attached well. This shop kept the keys for the head unit because they "didn't want the customers to interfere with the installation." Eventually, I wanted to remove the JVC unit to check it out before I replaced it. I had to order the keys from the JVC Accessory store who charged $15 for 2 keys and $10 S&H. No more JVC for me. The loose Sony speakers went bad and were replaced by NCME with a much sturdier pair of Kicker 6 1/2" round speakers. These were very firmly attached - much better than the Sony's. I removed the JVC head unit when it finally died. When NCME went to install the Pioneer unit today, they saw that the wiring after three installs was old and pretty messy. I knew the JVC worked the last time everything was connected. The owner Frank was surprised that the Pioneer unit fired up right away. I wanted to get a sealed subwoofer that was smaller than the Polk 10" ported monster. That sub was so big and heavy it probably cut down on my gas mileage. Crutchfield recommended a Kenwood Excelon P-XW1002B -10" sub for $225 or a Kicker 48CDF104 -10" sub for $150. Both of these were the wrong size and shape for behind the seat of a small pickup! NCME hooked the $216 Kicker subwoofer up to my Lightening 250W amp and the headset to my Clarion 200W amp. They firmly attached the sub with a bracket to the back of the cab. They properly charged me just one hour labor for $150 and the same price as Crutchfield for the sub. I had bought the Pioneer headset from Crutchfield, but they gave me TWO wrong recommendations for a subwoofer for behind the seat of my Nissan pickup! In summary, I am very happy with NCME compared to other shops in the past. I'm pretty shocked that Crutchfield recommended 2 wrong size subwoofers! They also sent a lot of extra parts which were not needed, at least at no extra charge. I gave the extra parts to Frank. I should have just taken my truck to NCME for them to select the subwoofer. There seemed to be so many to choose from and I wanted to read and learn a little more about them. I learned I wanted a sealed, enclosed, passive sub, not ported or powered. And passive subwoofers can be very cool for small size applications such as car audio. Read about them. That is what NCME put in. BTW, it sounds GRRREAT! Back in 1994, I was looking to purchase a complete stereo for my 1991 Mitsubishi Eclipse. When I found out that NCME was a Rockford Fosgate dealer, I drove to the shop, met with Mike Lewis and Joel Partovich, and designed a full sound system for the car. A week later, I dropped my car off and the following week, the work was complete. They did a SUPER job on the car and I always said that I was going to return to them for future work. A few years after having NCME install the stereo, the car was in an accident so the stereo equipment was removed from my wrecked car and placed into a "like model" Mitsubishi Eclipse. This time, I added a new Alpine digital sound processor. Again, these guys were champs and did a great job. After that, I brought future cars to NCME to have simple speaker replacements done - nothing fancy. In 2004, I got into the show truck scene and bought a very very low mileage 1998 Ford F150 from a relative. I immediately contacted NCME to design me something "cool". A short time later, I dropped my truck off and picked it up a few weeks later and was blown away by the great job they did! They replaced my rear seats with a speaker/amp enclosure complete with mirrors, blue neon lighting, a fuse block, and stiffening capacitors. They also installed an Alpine TV in the dash with Zapco sound processor a CD changer in the center console, and a set of mids and tweeters in the door.There was not one flaw with the system whatsoever! I took it to shows over the next three years and won a total of 10 awards - one of which was "loudest DB" (153 DB). Although I no longer own the truck or live in North County, I would not hesitate to go back to them for future work. They do a great job and take pride in what they do. Had a pioneer stereo that went out on me after only a year and a half. The shop I had bought it from had closed for business and I luckily found North County Mobile Electronics. Not only were they able to get something new in my truck in just a couple hours, it was higher quality and less expensive than what I had paid before. Man oh man started smelling burning plastic for a couple days and didn't think anything of it, until I decided to pop the hood and noticed my fuse was completely melted. Reached out to the shop to find out the prior owner Mike is longer there which turned out to be a great thing! Frank took care of me right away and resolved the issue. Installed the new fuse and ground wire, which resulted in a major upgrade to my system now and the sound quality. Will for sure be returning to get a head unit installed. 100% worth it, I came here from temecula because the quality of this shop is the best. I'm blown away by how good my car sounds, I even got some L.E.D head lights that are so much brighter then factory lights. My new radio tells me if my hood is open and shows a picture on the radio. All my factory stuff works like all my steering wheel controls. I haven't got new controls when I hold the mode button on the steering wheel on my gauges appear on the radio. I can still use my factory, USB port and auxiliary port. My reverse camera works and warns me when a car is driving by or somebody is close to the back of the car and I might hit. It now does stuff didn't do before. I definitely recommend North County, Mobile electronics. My car is louder, more clear, brighter, and just funner to drive thank you guys. Excellent customer service, workmanship and value. My 2024 Wrangler 4XE (newer large screen interface) came with the non-alpine stereo system, and had zero bass. Frank walked me through several options and I ended up with a 1200 watt Kicker Amp & Kicker down firing 12" sub in the trunk. Other smaller and more concealed options existed, but I personally wanted more bass (stock alpine subwoofer is 300 watt/ 8inch and leaves much to be desired...). Bass can be easily adjusted as well, so I crank it up a little more with the top back. In addition to adding the sub, Frank adjusted the stock speakers and now the entire system sounds incredible. My daughters both said "it sounds like we're at a concert!" They installed it in a just a few hours and besides the low profile box in the trunk, everything looks stock. I also like that I can quickly remove the entire sub easily (a couple plugs) if I ever needed to for space, or if I was going to have it parked at the airpot/risky area). Highly recommend these guys and couldn't be happier with the sound. read more

I've had bad experiences before with car audio installation from other local companies with my Wife's car. I recently bought a used car that needed a new head unit and a backup camera. I read all the reviews and decided to come here and I am so glad I did. Frank answered all my questions, remembered my name, and clearly cared about me liking the end product. There was no upselling and he just shot it straight to me. I now have a great looking, big head unit w/ Android Auto and a solid backup camera. I knew I wanted this head unit ahead of time, but I was worried about the common review that the brightness wasn't dim enough for driving. I didn't mention anything about that but after the install I noticed that the daytime setting is too bright at night, but because Frank and his team wired it up correctly when I turn on my lights it goes into night mode and the brightness is correctly dim enough to drive. Visited NCME to get a new deck put into an older Prius. They worked with me to find exactly the specs I wanted (CarPlay, capacitive touch screen, no DVD). They were much more interested in getting it exactly right than trying to upsell me on something. Install was fast and clean, they even replaced a frame that didn't look exactly right. Come on, I'm not sure how this place has such high reviews. I came in for a tint job only to be left with sub-par work. Unfortunately I wasn't paying close attention prior to driving home, once I gave a more thorough inspection i noticed some issues (see attached photos). There was a section on each of my passenger/driver side windows where the tint abruptly stopped and and you could of see the edging of the tint about a cm away from the frame. There was some major bubbling on both of my passenger side windows (sparkle effect), the driver side window had what appeared to be a glob of tint which I assume was from holding the heat gun too long over that section. Lastly, there was a scratch on my window perfectly aligned with the tint, which makes me think the scratch happened during the install. Seeing that this was the first time I ever brought a car in for a tint install, I wanted a second opinion to see if these are normal issues with aftermarket tinting. I brought my car into SD tint in sorrento valley for a second opinion, where they confirmed the job was pretty "sub par". To save a drive up to Oceanside and wait another 3 hours to have the tint re-done, I had SD tint re-do the work correctly. On a side note, the guys at SD tint gave the back window an "okay" rating so that saved me a little bit of money during the re-tint. I believe this store specializes in speaker installs and other types of car electronics, as a result the shop has a lot of saw dust everywhere and is pretty loud most of the time. If you want your tint to be installed correctly you need to find a shop that only specializes in tinting, this way the shop is clean from miscellaneous debris which can get caught between the window and the tint. Also, I think it's important to not have many distractions in the shop, tinting appears to be more of an art form and needs a lot of concentration to be installed correctly. I called Mike and we agreed on a partial refund, to no surprise this never happened. My advice is to go with a place that may charge a little more (seriously, only $50 more), north county mobile electronics is a cheap option but this is one of those cases where you will get what you pay for... Unless you're going in just to have your back window tinted, they do a pretty okay job on that one. read more

I came here to have the windows tinted on my new car. It took me almost a month to get the tint done because I'm super picky and didn't want to end up with a botched job. Originally, I was sold on getting a 30% Lumar tint job at Sunslayer for $500. In my opinion, $500 is excessive for tint; and even Rick at Sunslayer admitted that I would likely be just as happy with a "Solar Tint" for half the price. Thankfully, further research conveyed that I would've paid too much for Lumar at Sunslayer. Even Signature Glass Tinting in Costa Mesa offers Lumar for half the price Rick quotes. Hard to get a Saturday appointment on days I'm in the OC, so, off to North County Mobile I went. This place came highly recommended by family members who all took their luxury cars here and we're happy with the craftsmanship performed on their car. Tint choices are: Global Window Films - $199 with a 5 year warranty and following: 5% Limo 15 Dark 35% Medium 50% Light 70% Very Light 3M FX-Premium Window Films - $269 with a Lifetime Warranty and the following choices: 5% Lino 15% Dark 25% Medium-Dark 35% Medium 55% Light I went with 3M which is $69 more, but totally worth it as it offers a better quality and lifetime warranty. And, why would anyone put cheap crap on a new luxury vehicle anyway? They performed an excellent job. I'm super happy with my cars new look. Watch out, I'm rollin now! Keep it classy San Diego! Do not hesitate to take your car to North County Mobile for your tint. Ashton Kutcher even had his tint done here (Check out the Yelp photo of his whip) for goodness sake - so why can't you? Super clean sound using my factory head unit. This time I brought in my 2020 Ram 1500. I wanted a little more bass and sound. The stock system just doesn't cut it. This time they installed a 12" arc audio sub, amp and custom box while running things off my factory head unit and it sounds badass! Nothing ear shattering but the perfect amount of bass and a little more power to my factory speakers. I'm stoked on it.
