To be completely honest, I was a…read morelittle naive about what the B&B experience would be, and was worried about putting my director & producer up at a place that might not meet their standards - But let me tell you, I could not have been more pleasantly surprised! The rooms were beautiful, spacious and comfortable. Everything you would expect from a high-end hotel, and more! My personal favorite was the array of products in the bathroom. Not the standard, tiny, generic 'hotel-shampoos'... No, these were full-sized, well-made products! It felt like home - that is, if my bathroom at home was much cleaner, more elegant & spa-like. The Inn-keepers, Marilyn & Gregory were nothing short of fantastic. They were knowledgable about the area, and super friendly - but have perfected the art of being helpful without smothering their guests, as can be a inconvenience for some travelers. They made us feel incredibly taken care of, helped us with dinner reservations, informed us of the history on the area in an engaging way... the genuinely full package. Any time I had a question, I knew where to turn. Now on to what I miss the most... The breakfast. I arrived super early in the morning on my first day. Marilyn settled me into my room, and told me I was welcome to come out for breakfast at 8.30. When I left my room, I expected the standard selection of cereal, english muffins, and orange juice. Not at the Hawthorne Inn! Instead I walked out to a beautifully set family style dining table, where Marilyn & Greg served the other guests and I a delicious, holiday-worthy 3 course meal. For the calorie conscious traveler, I'll assure you, it was healthy and light and fresh. Granola, customized omelets, fruit, toast etc... They even respected & remembered people's dietary wishes and, without hesitation accommodated the vegetarians, etc. I mentioned in passing that I was allergic to egg yolks on the very first morning, and every breakfast following that one, they made my plates individually catered sans egg yolks without me even asking - even the french toast. My own mother doesn't even remember to do that. We were on a weird schedule, and rudely rolled out of our beds later than the scheduled 8.30am on most mornings. At most places you'd be out of luck, and left to fend for yourself, but they still somehow managed to get all of us fed each morning without any sign of annoyance. It goes without saying that my colleagues and I really enjoyed our stay there. I for one, was genuinely sad to leave and have to come back to my breakfast-less, less home-y apartment in Los Angeles. Thanks again to both of you. I look forward to having another excuse to travel back to Concord & stay at the Inn. Carmela Makela

The person who complained about the small rooms should take into consideration. This is an old colonial house not a modern open concept restaurant/hotel. The hotel is in dire need of refurbishing & cleaning. The rooms are not only small in square feet, but have 7' ceilings, making the sleeping experience similar to what I think sleeping in a coffin would be like. The hallways in the common areas are disgraceful & ratty--I really cannot use another word to describe the carpeting. Poorly lit & terribly confusing layout. Several of us got lost (twice) trying to find the rooms. The bathroom was miniscule--had no fan & a heavily peeling tub. The A/C unit was old & sounded like a jet engine was passing through the room. Parking lot signage was absurd. An arrow pointing LEFT sent you to a laundry room. There was no way to get to the Front Desk except walking around the entire Inn. Allowing pets should have been my first clue--& a barking dog was right next to my room with paper thin walls. I paid almost $300 for the honor of staying in this 1776 Inn. Go elsewhere.

Update: The front desk did reach out and reversed the charge…read morebut did not provide an explanation of how it even occurred when asked. Still an overall good stay but check your folio. -- An otherwise good experience sullied by weird behavior from front desk staff adding room charges upon check-in. In the last two years that I have been frequently traveling with Hilton for business, I have never charged anything to my room -- much less a $12.00 beverage. I proactively avoided the suite shop due to items being overpriced and having convenient alternatives available nearby. I also utilize a company card for travel, which I would not use for personal incidentals. Reaching the front desk to dispute this by in-app messaging, text or phone is impossible. Tried calling multiple times this morning with no response or redirects to a national call center. Not sure if check-out staff this morning was privy to this and hoping I would forget about it or disregard it, but it was incredibly convenient that they were unable to provide a folio at check-out. I can appreciate that the room was nice, despite it following a cookie-cutter layout. I suppose that, as a frequent traveler, it may be more practical to find a room familiar. It did make locating amenities easier and settling in more comfortable. My first two nights were frequently disrupted by heavy-footed upstairs neighbors, but the hotel staff was accommodating and transferred me to a similar room on the top floor at my immediate request. This alone improved the remainder of my stay significantly. Hotel breakfast is buffet style, self-serve. Food was relatively good and the cafe was clean; utensils available and kept stocked even in the later hours of weekday mornings. The location is ideal -- just a short drive from my office and right off the interstate I-95. The surrounding area felt safe and there was enough parking availability throughout the day. This location additionally has covered parking, which is a plus for travelers with personal vehicles. It is also located nearby a Costco and Market Basket! Overall, my stay was good but the inability to reach anyone at the location to be accountable and discuss a billing dispute is incredibly frustrating.

Water pressure is TERRIBLE and showers take twice as long. Every minute or two it slows down (like old houses that can't have a shower running if a toilet is flushing at the same time.) But- at least you can get decent sleep with the mattresses.

I had a couple of questions during check-in , and he had all the answers and let me know how to smoothly recheck in if I need to. He was so accommodating to my preferences that I checked in late and so my room preferences. The gentleman that came to change the pillows only spoke French. I used my Google Translate, but it's always so cool to be able to interact in different languages. The service at this hotel is just super great. Checking into a hotel is either for business pleasure or a necessity, so for either of those reasons, you always want to have a smooth transition and then a comfortable one. This hotel exceeded my expectations. Where it's located doesn't seem like the most ideal place and you wouldn't expect it to look so nice and modern but it is it has a pool, free parking, a gym and another Marriott owned hotel across from it. There is a bar in the lobby and really is just a gorgeous hotel. I rarely hand out five stars, but if I do or when I do, it's because from beginning to end, I couldn't find one thing negative to say. So I'm always happy and ecstatic when I can get the opportunity to use all five stars. The showers are the best part. The water stays hot and gets really hot. The shower head covers your whole body. They have toiletries in the shower, shampoo, conditioner, and shower gel. not cheap crappy stuff, actual good stuff that smells delicious. I stand corrected. One minor dislike the heat/ AC blows really loud, and there is a way to adjust the fan speed. However, that could just be a personal thing. It may not be something that bothers someone else Oh, and don't let me forget the best part. The rate per night is super affordable. And if you have points, this is probably one of the few locations close to Boston that's under $22,000 points. I'm sure the rate also depends on the availability and rate. I arrived right around 5 PM in the middle of the week and there was only one person stocking the in-house store and handling check-ins. I could tell she was very busy, probably tired (rightfully so), but very professional and kind. She handed me a little welcome bag that contained two bottles of filtered water and a helpful information sheet. She promptly shared with me the Wi-Fi access information, which I greatly appreciated. Took the elevator up to my room and was pleased to find that the carpeting in the hallway was very thick, and that only half of the guestroom was carpeted. I like having a hard floor, however, the carpeting, draperies, and bedding all were in great condition. The microwave was small, but adequate for my needs, and the mini fridge was just as good. I really enjoyed the Crabtree & Evelyn toiletries they had, but noted that they didn't have the standard guest items like Q-tips. Almost had a meltdown in the morning when I thought I couldn't get the Keurig machine to work (lol), but it just had a little bit of a delay. The coffee was not Keurig, and was just OK, but it served its purpose (caffeine). I was disappointed that I did didn't see any recycling receptacles, so I collected my things in a brown paper bag and hoped they might be recycled. Check-in and checkout we're very easy using my digital key. Unfortunately, I was assigned the room right next to the elevator, so I could hear it rumbling with the doors slamming most of the evening and beginning again around 5 AM, but it did stop during the night, and it's not their fault. It's a hotel, and that happens. I would stay at this property again.
