This hotel really surprised us. Everything during our stay went smooth. The hotel was very clean and the rooms we spacious. We rented one king room and one queen and they were both consistently great. A nice touch was having drybar toiletries in the bathroom. Free parking was greatly appreciated too! I've stayed here before, it's a convenient location when I'm visiting family. This visit it was just ok. The room smelled very dusty. I was glad I had a mini deodorizing spray with me. Towels were rough. Bed & pillows were average comfort, but disliked the lack of a thick comforter. It was pretty quiet and the window shades blacked out most of the daylight. Ample room to lay out your belongings and even to stretch if that's your thing. You have to go to the front desk to ask for ice which was odd IMO. Asked if I could have an empty wine glass from the bar that was closed on Sunday night and I was told only plastic is allowed back up in the room. I did enjoy the Minuteman walking trails that are nearby, but otherwise food or drink is a drive. read more

Nihil has the most exceptional customer service. This gentleman is so soft spoken, and kind. I was concerned about the snowstorm, and he instantly started looking it up on his phone to reassure me that it won't be so bad. I had a couple of questions during check-in , and he had all the answers and let me know how to smoothly recheck in if I need to. He was so accommodating to my preferences that I checked in late and so my room preferences. The gentleman that came to change the pillows only spoke French. I used my Google Translate, but it's always so cool to be able to interact in different languages. The service at this hotel is just super great. Checking into a hotel is either for business pleasure or a necessity, so for either of those reasons, you always want to have a smooth transition and then a comfortable one. This hotel exceeded my expectations. Where it's located doesn't seem like the most ideal place and you wouldn't expect it to look so nice and modern but it is it has a pool, free parking, a gym and another Marriott owned hotel across from it. There is a bar in the lobby and really is just a gorgeous hotel. I rarely hand out five stars, but if I do or when I do, it's because from beginning to end, I couldn't find one thing negative to say. So I'm always happy and ecstatic when I can get the opportunity to use all five stars. The showers are the best part. The water stays hot and gets really hot. The shower head covers your whole body. They have toiletries in the shower, shampoo, conditioner, and shower gel. not cheap crappy stuff, actual good stuff that smells delicious. I stand corrected. One minor dislike the heat/ AC blows really loud, and there is a way to adjust the fan speed. However, that could just be a personal thing. It may not be something that bothers someone else Oh, and don't let me forget the best part. The rate per night is super affordable. And if you have points, this is probably one of the few locations close to Boston that's under $22,000 points. I'm sure the rate also depends on the availability and rate. Let me start by seeing any place for a hotel right now during the Covid pandemic scares me. But this place made me feel right at home, right away. From the wonderful woman at the desk on a Saturday night, to just a warm vibe in the place. The hotel was probably pretty empty. I could judge by the parking lot. When you walk in there's funky music playing. Some people have said it's too loud? I thought it was fine. People playing pool, socially distancing, a fireplace in front of me, and a little area to the right of the circular check-in desk that had items to munch on for snacks. I was able to check in very quickly. Given room per my specifications of not being on the first floor, and if I went. The only downside? My room was literally at the end of the hall. So I had to work almost the entire distance of the hotel, but I guess that's OK because it's kind of what I asked for. The room is cool. I like the colors and the design to the room, but it's very very sparse. Which I think is part of the design idea. It's got this weird bench underneath the television. It's hard. Like one that you would use at a campsite. With a thin small cushion only on one side. I'm not sure if it's supposed to have two, and one is gone, or it's supposed to be designed that way. Then the desk is on one side and on the other side of something that looks just like a desk hiding the heating unit. Windows look directly out on the back of the property, in this case, a big high Rockwall LOL. The shades have pole chains, and work very well. To dark in the room? Easy to do. The television is really big. And sort of the center focus of the room as well. The bed was big. It is king size. And I like that it wasn't too bouncy. I feel like it was a newer mattress this way, you know?. White linens complete the look. The bathroom is weird, but laid out nicely. There's a shower stall at one end with a rain shower head. I'm short. So it literally just goes all over me as opposed to on me. Toilet, sink, and then an area that looks like a lock room for your storage for your clothes. I wish they were drawers somewhere in the room. I couldn't see staying here for more than a day or two, due to the storage. Again. Super clean and neat. I liked it. It worked for one night. This place sucks b. The shower was like a scene out of a scary movie, where you're trapped under a waterfall of scorching hot water. The nozzle wouldn't adjust, and the door wouldn't close properly so the floor got all wet. We rang the front desk for some new sheets after we accidentally spilled water, and as the legend goes, we're still waiting for our sheets right now... Also we found a half eaten cookie behind the nightstand. Just the worst experience I've ever had in a hotel. read more

Sigh. Due to the hotel's messing up, we ended up paying for 2 rooms when we only stayed in one. We originally reserved one room for a wedding reception, but then our host had us change our room to a block of wedding reserved rooms. But instead of *changing* the room, the hotel added a second room, and charged us for both. After several failed rounds of trying to get it sorted with the hotel, at each point being told it would be fixed, we appealed it to our credit card company. Later we were informed that the double-charge was deemed "valid", so we have no recourse but to pay for a room we never used. Avoid this place at all costs, or it may cost you extra for their bungling. read more

I am a Marriott Bonvoy member purely out of desperation, and tend to choose their hotels because of their larger footprint. When looking for a last minute accommodation you can't be extremely choosy, but I thought my time at Aloft would be much better than it was. First, a general warning: Do not be placed in any of the #28 rooms (228, 328 etc.), because you will be privy to the operations of the following: Electrical room Gears of the elevator (I literally recorded this, it's a grinding noise that occurs about every 2 minutes. I wish I were joking) Building boiler and heating system Anyone walking to their rooms (the walls here are thin even by new building standards) The pool And other courtyard noise If you are trying to get some sleep or sleep in a little late without using a mask and ear plugs these sounds will be your alarm clock. It's fun when you have difficulties sleeping. I suspect that the room I was given is probably the one they place people in when they don't have enough space because it was dusty especially behind the mattress, the headboard was scratched up, the toilet and the sink were slow, the wall thermostat didn't work (a small gripe given the functional AC controls, but if bending is bad for you, it's an accessibility issue), the shower barely had cold water and the soap in the pumps looked somewhat questionable. I was literally exhausted and wanted to sleep but would have complained if I hadn't spent time earlier that day complaining at another Marriott property about my accommodations and I am over this state and want to leave. The bed is ok, it's slightly soft and they do not have bed bug cases so be sure to check your mattress. The pillows are very soft so maybe ask for a feather free room to get a more supportive one. Though the washcloth was clean, the bath mat was stained and thereafter I was weary of using rest of their towels for fear of them actually not being clean, so maybe bring your own towels. Fridge is under the sink which is gross. The rooms are not really thoughtfully planned. Pros are free parking, breakfast voucher and a nice bar. The amenities seem nice, I did not try them since I was here for a wedding but they are pretty standard offerings. The bottom line is that I didn't enjoy my stay here and would not recommend it given that it is expensive for the area and there are serious flaws depending on the room you are placed in. If you choose to stay here asked to be placed away from the courtyard if possible and definitely do not, under any circumstances, accept a #28 room. read more

Recent stay with a friend sharing the room. The hotel was hard to find in the dark, due to small signage and tree cover of the grounds. Upon checkin we asked to split the cost between two credit cards and were told that we could do this at checkout. At checkout we were told that my card had already been charged and we would have to wait 2 hours for the manager to credit and split the bill because the desk clerk on duty did not know how to do it. Obviously, the staff needs better training since the first desk clerk did not put a note about the split and the second did I not know how to credit and split. Two glasses of cheap wine at the bar were over $15 each and there was no food at the bar but reheated wings, all other items on the menu are no longer available. Room was not serviced once during a 4 night stay, e-mail from the hotel indicated that it would be serviced every other day. Hotel does not appear to be managed up to Marriott standards. read more

They are committed to using this as a training opportunity to raise the awareness of their team for how to handle situations like this. That's really the point and benefit of a review like this. In good faith belief that this will happen I am provisionally changing my previous rating from 1 star to 3 stars. So if you read this, I encourage you to read more recent reviews and see what others say about their experience. Rely on their reviews more than this one. It's not good to ignore problems but it's also not good to make it hard for people to bounce back from them. So here's hoping this was just blip. What a breath of fresh air. I moved away from Boston years ago and I remember when this used to be a Sheraton, back when lots of Sheraton hotels had a faux Colonial theme. I remember it also had an awful restaurant called Dunfy's onsite - it was the kind of lousy classic New England place where they served broiled scrod with tasteless veggies. My grandmother loved that place. Thankfully, the folks at Starwood closed the Sheraton and turned it into an Aloft, which is a hip, minimalist, modern place, sort of like a stripped down W (same owners). The lobby is sleek and modern with a lot of couch-type seating and random decks of cards and board games on coffee tables. There is also a bar which was lively both times I stayed here. The transformation into an Aloft was not a face-lift, the whole place was gutted and everything in the hotel is new. This newness continues on to the rooms. You would think you were in a brand new hotel. The fit and finish is excellent. The rooms are a bit on the small side, so if you are one of those dummies that judges a room for 1 or 2 people by how big the room or the bathroom is, or how many towels you get, you may not like the Aloft. Personally, I go to Europe a lot for work and prefer smaller rooms. That said, it is not cramped by any means and the beds are a proper size. Plus, there is a perfectly large TV on the wall. The service was admittedly on the amateur side: The desk staff of 2 was completely overwhelmed with 3 guests waiting to check in and the bartender was washing dishes or something in the back behind the bar while a couple of people waited endlessly for drinks. One Nite $461.44 Ripoff? You Judge And not even a breakfast! As a Lexington Aloft patron of some 10 years, the last half dozen usually for two trips annually, I booked my usual visit starting on last Oct. 23, for two nights, at rates consistent with my past experience: $210, and $240; but, knowing that I would need to stay longer, but not for how long, I planned to extend it when I knew, after my arrival. (I always chose to stay there simply because I had discovered that, if I turned off the loud window/wall Heating/AC unit overnight, the rooms there became the quietest hotel rooms I had ever stayed in-- it never got so hot overnight in warm weather, or so cold in winter, as to make the room uncomfortable). On Oct 24, I arrived back at the hotel after 7 PM and asked the hotel desk agent to extend my stay with three additional nights. After quite some time on his computer, he told me he was not able to get his system to extend the booking, and that I would have to make a new one. After more time on the computer, he informed me that the new rate, per night, would be $461.44, $300.59, and $200.06. When I asked why the high rates, he informed me that for the first night, it was because it was the last room available. Being without any means, as I stood there, to check on other hotels, and fearing others nearby might be just as full, I chose not to risk being unable to easily find convenient lodging, and I booked at the rates quoted. However, as a long time patron, I felt quite taken advantage of by their computer algorithm--the first night is the highest I had ever paid for lodging, in my life, even when in Rome, Italy! So I decided to contact the manager, Robert Ayers, and ask for an adjustment. I wrote, first by email, and after not receiving any response, then by US Mail, explaining that it seemed that the "Reward" for my long time patronage felt more like a punishment, and asking only that the first night's stay be adjusted down to that for the second: $300. I never received even the courtesy of a response. It will be the last time I ever stay at Aloft. read more

It took about 15 min to airport without traffic (hotels near airports are a lot more expensive) Budget-friendly and there are many things to enjoy in hotel: indoor pool and fitness room; board games, pool table and bars available at the lobby; walking trail nearby It was perfect place to stay with my 2 years old boy. Waited in line for half hour. Finally got into a room and found the air conditioning was broken...in July. Tried to turn on the television, but that was also broken. Finished up my stay with a shower, found that the hot water was broken! Told the front desk and they basically said "sorry, but we can't do anything about it". Just under $400 for the night and they did not offer to give any sort of discount despite a terrible experience. The only time I could recommend this hotel is if your only alternative is sleeping in your car or the airport terminal. read more

I asked politely for 4 consecutive days for them to clean my room. Each day, I was promised results but nothing happened. Astonishingly, the employee on duty remarked that, "The front desk has no control over housekeeping." So, my room got increasingly disgusting as I continued to pay $200 a night. After reading the mixed reviews for hotel, I can honestly say that I was a bit nervous! However, it turned out to be a great stay. To start, the design and decor of the place is very modern and appealing to the eye. You walk in and it is beautiful and super cool in there! There is a "Welcome to the Jungle" theme and although I'm not usually a fan, this place does it well. It is colorful and vibrant while still looking classy and chic. The front desk staff is extremely helpful and friendly! I enjoyed my interactions with them. As you walk in there is a lounge to the left that has couches/ chairs as well as a pool table for entertainment. There is a bar called W XYZ and it looks quite modern and hip with a large liquor selection. Bar closes at 11 and seems to be popular as there was a decent crowd on the Saturday night I stayed. Unfortunately, I did not get the chance to partake in any bar activities as I had plans and went out that night. The pool is quite small but it is beautifully decorated with nice lounge chairs and tables. Fitness center is fully equipped with all the main machines and looked clean. Now to the room.. I actually loved it! I love how spacious it is. The King bed was extremely comfortable and cozy. At a point in the night it did get kind of cold but I got up and raised the temp.. slept like a baby afterwards! The room was very clean (which is what I was mainly worried about reading the other reviews) and the layout/ decor were very modern and chic. I love the mounted TV and how easy it was to plug in an HDMI. They have a super cool Plug Box composed of many different ports you might need as well as a few charing outlets. This was awesome! The shower was amazing and the full length mirror attached to the bathororm sliding door was perfect.. especially for taking pictures! Room comes with a fridge but there is no microwave. They provide a coffee maker and coffee in the room. No free breakfast which is a bummer, but you do get free coffee during breakfast hours. I'm looking forward to coming back! read more

I asked the person at the lobby what the breakfast situation at the hotel was for Platinum/Titanium members and he literally told me to go across the street to the Element for breakfast. In adequate closets and or drawer space for two people in adequate lighting in shower and room front desk. Staff seemed bored and definitely rude. Let me tell you how awesome the Aloft in Lexington is... If you haven't stayed in a Aloft before- prepare to be wowed! Sleek. Hip. Today! Aloft is the affordable hotel of the future. The rooms are fresh and unique, unlike any hotel you've stayed in before. The furniture is all modern- coming with flat screens and overhead showers. Aside from Las Vegas hotels- you probably won't find another room like this outside of the Aloft chain. The lobby is fitted with a young bar and live music. There is free WiFi and free parking. PLUS, there is a very relaxing pool area and very clean gym. If you're a tourist to the area- be aware the this hotel is about 30 minutes from downtown Boston. It's not really close to any T line, so you may have to drive if going into the city. HOWEVER, this wasn't a huge problem for me and I don't think it will be for you either... I highly recommend staying at this Aloft- and I look forward to seeing more Alofts popping up around the United States for me to stay in! read more

Sleep: the bed was very firm, like no side or stomach sleepers allowed firm! The blackout curtains really blackout. The temp controls are WAY off though. 71 is freezing and 74 is roasting. Most hotels 68 is just right for sleeping for me. The detergent they use on the sheets is super strong and made my skin very angry. The shower supplies are not in individual bottles which is neato for the environment. The hotel also offers a $5 discount on food if you opt to use the same sheets and towels. The in room coffee making has huge cups next to it. If you try to make a large cup of coffee, you will get light brown water. The iron is located behind the bed in a secret hidy spot. There is no "get to know out hotel info book" in the room. Please make one and explain how breakfast works! Parking is plentiful and free. The main reason for minus two stars is the food available is expensive and very limited. Cliff bars, candy, hot pockets, bagels and bananas. They have a small menu of hot breakfast items but I never saw any examples of them out or ordered by anyone. I still don't know who you order them from. read more

Nice modern hotel, super close to the historic downtown of Lexington. Easy check in, the room was spotless with a nice big shower. Bliss products, awesome water pressure. I've stayed at Aloft Brooklyn a few times and the room was pretty much identical. It's like the Starbucks of hotels lol - no matter where you go, it's consistently the same. Which is good, Starwood or wait is it Marriott now? Either, they know how to do hotels. Even had their signature scent in the air. (They use scented air filters in the HVAC) The bed was a little firmer then I prefer but the pillows were soft and fluffy. The only issue I had was the mini fridge was loud af, it kicked on in the night and woke me. I'd stay here again though for sure. read more

I've stayed here several times when I come to Massachusetts to work. I don't t think I'll be staying here again. No cups in the room. No Coffee maker in the room. No bath mat in the room. The toilet paper holder is broken and the TP is sitting on the back of the toilet. The restaurant isn't open/ the bar isn't open. No creativity to make things work. Just shut down and offering bare bones hostel-like amenities. Guess what?? COVID is not spread by using paper cups. It is not spread by coffee makers. It is not spread from bath mats. This is insanity. Do your due diligence and understand how to protect your patrons reading the science. The facts. Not random changes that don't make any difference. There is NO reported transmission of COVID from fomites. So disappointed that such a fun place to stay has just laid down and taken the beating rather than to use some creative solutions. . read more

This was my first stay at an Aloft and I really liked it though I can see how some might be put off. I had never heard of it, thought it might be independent, but it's part of Westin. They are clearly going for a mid-range hipster vibe. Rather than a front desk there is a mini command center around which the bar, lobby and breakfast area are located. The lobby is small but bright. The breakfast and snack areas are self-serve but if you want something made, the kitchen will do it and pass it to you through a drive-through window kind of set up. The signage around the hotel is a clue to the market Aloft is going for. The pool is called the "splash." Yeah I know. This will not catch on. Nonetheless, the pool is very small (tops out at 5 feet in the deep end) but inviting as is the outdoor lounge area. Also, instead of No Smoking you're advised that there are No Ifs and Or Butts allowed. So that's where they're coming from. The rooms are inspired by a retro European look (There is probably a name for this known by interior designers) that I thought was fresh and different from typical hotels. These, plus the price, was why I booked the hotel. In practical terms, the design is Spartan but stylish. There are no dressers. You put your clothes in alcoves. There are also no ice machines. You have to get ice in the snack area. The bathroom fits with the rest of the theme: small but smart. Here, I'll note that if the person you're staying with has heretofore unknown GI issues, you will know about them after staying at an Aloft hotel. The bathroom provides minimal privacy. The location of the hotel was perfect for our stay. It's walking distance to Minuteman National Park and a short drive to Lexington and Concord. You can throw a frisbee and it will land on I-95 but the hotel is set off enough that you can't hear any truck traffic. If you're looking to be close to the City this hotel may not be a great choice. The nearest T is about 7 miles away at Alewife. We drove there during afternoon rush and it took nearly an hour. We did not attempt this again. My traveling companion noted the choice of music in the lobby. It was not the usual easy listening on the usual mid-career Madonna to Michael Buble spectrum. I heard Talking Heads, Beastie Boys and some very suggestive R & B. I thought this was a welcome change. My fellow traveler didn't. To sum up, if you know what to expect this is a welcome update in the 2.5-3 star range of hotels. read more

Great looking hotel with some cool amenities and friendly staff, but that's about all. I'm not sure what their deal is but I, along with the three others in my party, received no maid service for our rooms. I had to ask the front desk for towels, which they gave me, but the dirty ones in my room I had to just leave on the floor since no one came during the day to pick them up. Also, most people were just leaving trash outside their rooms in bags because no one ever came to pick up trash. Bar was closed but that's understandable because of COVID. I will say the rooms were pretty clean and had decent cable service. The beds were well made though not the most comfortable, particularly the pillows. Overall the place just seems to be lacking good management, I'm guessing corporate hasn't payed the staff a visit for a while. read more

Headline: A cheap place for families, budget conscious millennials, and those looking to stay near family in the burbs. This was my first time staying at an aloft, which we wanted for the free parking, geographical closeness to Arlington, and room space. Room: we got two adjoining rooms, but for once in my life I was pleasantly surprised by the sound barrier provided even when the door wasn't fully closed. AMAZING. Very clean, decent beds, sufficient and cheaper furnishings but it's the aloft, not the Westin. Storage was good and the room was well designed with the entry/ sink/ storage, then the main room. Rest of the space: the bar area was pretty hopping for Labor Day weekend and the lounge was a chill if louder space. The small indoor pool was a great addition. The hotel also has a shuttle, by the holiday hours were extremely limited. We had a car so this didn't matter. Parking was plentiful even on the busy holiday weekend. Cafeteria style made to order or pickup breakfast was an efficient and cheap way to grab something to eat in the morning. Overall a convenient, clean, well thought out, and budget friendly location if you need to stay in the burbs. read more

I just can't say enough about this place. Room 102. Checked into room at 11pm after a long day of travel and work. No heat. Tried to be patient for several hours thinking it would kick on. Also called the front desk (several times) and no answer. That was the least of it as the light switch was broken and the light did not turn off. I attempted to suffer through it sleeping with all the lights on. Called the front desk again at 4am after getting no sleep. They only offered to move me rooms, tomorrow, as maintenance isn't on site until 7am. In the morning I took note the mini fridge had leaked water all over the floor. The shower also looked like it hadn't been cleaned and the water smelled like a dirty sock. Got out of there as soon as possible and took it up with the front desk. They offered to move me. After all that, they held me to my $8 breakfast voucher to the penny. Oh and then I ordered and was then told they were out of what I ordered. At least the cook was nice. This place looks trendy on the outside but lacks some details and some good scrubbing. This hotel needs a good cleaning. Is poorly managed overall and doesn't seem to know how to treat customers. Unfortunate because it seems to have some good potential. I am disappointed they didn't do anything to try to make me happy after a very unpleasant experience. read more

We were here to do the Tough Ruck so the location was great. I booked my room a month ago. My parents decided at the last minute to come cheer us on. So the day before we booked the room at a rate $50/ night less than my booking a month ago. 132 compare to 188 I called and to see if they could adjust my higher rate. No luck. So I left a msg for the manager and no response. The staff kept saying they would like to help but all referred me to the manager. Room was nice. The bar area needs help. Both nights when we ordered drinks they were out of something each time. I am sure this is a great place not my favorite stay. read more

This place is awful. It used to be OK a few years ago but they have let it fall apart. I stayed in room 405. The headboard to the bed looks like an animal has been attacking it. The window shades were both busted. The air conditioner is loud and noisy as heck. It's only possible to sleep with earplugs. And greatest of all, there was no hot water in the morning and I had to shower with cold. The whole place is just cheaply constructed and in a state of disrepair. The towel rack is falling off the wall. You can't lean against the headboard without causing the mattress to slide off the baseboard. The toilet is installed at a random angle off the wall. At least the coffee maker worked. The only reason this place gets a single star from me at all is that the staff of friendly, even when I checked in after midnight and when I called to ask about the lack of hot water. Do not stay here if you want to have a good day. read more

The location is great, the price was good, and the staff were very nice. However, this hotel is not comfortable in the slightest. The design is very confusing with an odd assortment of modern meets rustic meets contemporary. Pointless, garish, and cold style elements abound in the lobby, hallways, and rooms. The frosted glass wall between the shower and bedroom is a massive design failure as it makes it impossible to turn on the light at night without waking up whomever is sleeping on that side of the bed. The lack of built-in shelving in the shower was also a low as I had to set all of my own toiletries on the ground and there was nowhere to hang the wash rags. I never felt relaxed. It's the opposite of cozy with a weird "club" vibe that was off-putting. Considering this hotel is in the heart of a historically rich and natural area, I was greatly disappointed by the jarring design that didn't make any attempt to fit in to its surroundings. I'd rather pay more to stay somewhere with a more thoughtful approach to its location and clientele. read more

Cold prison atmosphere. 1-night stay will not be extended. My brother and I had this same prison thought within 2 secs of each other. The desk in the room has poor ergonomics. I have written off the entire chain based upon this one stay. read more

Broken shade, broken thermostat, broken shower! We were given one wash cloth for two people for two nights. No toiletries in the room. I had to find a housekeeper and ask for hand soap. No desk chair in the room when we arrived. The room was hot and after talking with the front desk about the broken thermostat, it was 12 hours before it was fixed. The continental breakfast was prepackaged waffles and muffins, and cereal for $4 each. The beds sit on a flat platform and slid off the platform any time I sat down. Very euro feel to this property. Staff gets me checked in reasonably quick for the most part. Rooms are clean and have that funky European feel to them (not a bad thing to me). Easy place for a night or two. read more
