I've stayed here before, it's a convenient location when I'm visiting family. This visit it was just ok. The room smelled very dusty. I was glad I had a mini deodorizing spray with me. Towels were rough. Bed & pillows were average comfort, but disliked the lack of a thick comforter. It was pretty quiet and the window shades blacked out most of the daylight. Ample room to lay out your belongings and even to stretch if that's your thing. You have to go to the front desk to ask for ice which was odd IMO. Asked if I could have an empty wine glass from the bar that was closed on Sunday night and I was told only plastic is allowed back up in the room. I did enjoy the Minuteman walking trails that are nearby, but otherwise food or drink is a drive.

Let me start by seeing any place for a hotel right now during the Covid pandemic scares me. But this place made me feel right at home, right away. From the wonderful woman at the desk on a Saturday night, to just a warm vibe in the place. The hotel was probably pretty empty. I could judge by the parking lot. When you walk in there's funky music playing. Some people have said it's too loud? I thought it was fine. People playing pool, socially distancing, a fireplace in front of me, and a little area to the right of the circular check-in desk that had items to munch on for snacks. I was able to check in very quickly. Given room per my specifications of not being on the first floor, and if I went. The only downside? My room was literally at the end of the hall. So I had to work almost the entire distance of the hotel, but I guess that's OK because it's kind of what I asked for. The room is cool. I like the colors and the design to the room, but it's very very sparse. Which I think is part of the design idea. It's got this weird bench underneath the television. It's hard. Like one that you would use at a campsite. With a thin small cushion only on one side. I'm not sure if it's supposed to have two, and one is gone, or it's supposed to be designed that way. Then the desk is on one side and on the other side of something that looks just like a desk hiding the heating unit. Windows look directly out on the back of the property, in this case, a big high Rockwall LOL. The shades have pole chains, and work very well. To dark in the room? Easy to do. The television is really big. And sort of the center focus of the room as well. The bed was big. It is king size. And I like that it wasn't too bouncy. I feel like it was a newer mattress this way, you know?. White linens complete the look. The bathroom is weird, but laid out nicely. There's a shower stall at one end with a rain shower head. I'm short. So it literally just goes all over me as opposed to on me. Toilet, sink, and then an area that looks like a lock room for your storage for your clothes. I wish they were drawers somewhere in the room. I couldn't see staying here for more than a day or two, due to the storage. Again. Super clean and neat. I liked it. It worked for one night. Which was what I was using it for.

Same view from farther away to set some context.

UPDATE 11/6/19 I was contacted by very concerned management at the hotel. They are committed to using this as a training opportunity to raise the awareness of their team for how to handle situations like this. That's really the point and benefit of a review like this. In good faith belief that this will happen I am provisionally changing my previous rating from 1 star to 3 stars. So if you read this, I encourage you to read more recent reviews and see what others say about their experience. Rely on their reviews more than this one. It's not good to ignore problems but it's also not good to make it hard for people to bounce back from them. So here's hoping this was just blip. Subsequent reviews by others will tell that story.

What a breath of fresh air. I moved away from Boston years ago and I remember when this used to be a Sheraton, back when lots of Sheraton hotels had a faux Colonial theme. I remember it also had an awful restaurant called Dunfy's onsite - it was the kind of lousy classic New England place where they served broiled scrod with tasteless veggies. My grandmother loved that place. Thankfully, the folks at Starwood closed the Sheraton and turned it into an Aloft, which is a hip, minimalist, modern place, sort of like a stripped down W (same owners). The lobby is sleek and modern with a lot of couch-type seating and random decks of cards and board games on coffee tables. There is also a bar which was lively both times I stayed here. The transformation into an Aloft was not a face-lift, the whole place was gutted and everything in the hotel is new. This newness continues on to the rooms. You would think you were in a brand new hotel. The fit and finish is excellent. The rooms are a bit on the small side, so if you are one of those dummies that judges a room for 1 or 2 people by how big the room or the bathroom is, or how many towels you get, you may not like the Aloft. Personally, I go to Europe a lot for work and prefer smaller rooms. That said, it is not cramped by any means and the beds are a proper size. Plus, there is a perfectly large TV on the wall. The service was admittedly on the amateur side: The desk staff of 2 was completely overwhelmed with 3 guests waiting to check in and the bartender was washing dishes or something in the back behind the bar while a couple of people waited endlessly for drinks. Kind of hack, but overall, my stay here was fantastic.

Clean & modern room and nice staffs. Easy check-in process and plenty of parking space. We've got to stay here to take the flight at Boston Airport early in the morning next day. It took about 15 min to airport without traffic (hotels near airports are a lot more expensive) Budget-friendly and there are many things to enjoy in hotel: indoor pool and fitness room; board games, pool table and bars available at the lobby; walking trail nearby It was perfect place to stay with my 2 years old boy. We enjoyed everything here! Thank you :)

W XYZ bar in the lobby.

We contacted Amanda and Shelby about the partial planning and coordination package only two months…read morebefore the wedding. Even with unusually short notice, they did a phenomenal job: They helped plan all the remaining details, bringing our attention to things we had not considered and giving us great ideas and recommendations all along the way. Their experience planning and coordinating numerous weddings gave us the confidence to trust their advice. They took care of all the setup/breakdown and decorations with detail and precision. They personalized the design to our needs. They researched vendors we had not yet secured, priced out and purchased all of the extras needed for the setup (e.g. flowers, linens, desserts, personalized signs), and coordinated with the venue, vendors, and ceremony participants beforehand and on the day of. I cannot even list all the details they managed, and they made sure everything was covered. Before we hired them, we were doing all the planning ourselves (in the midst of busy work schedules and moving). I honestly cannot imagine how we would have finished the remaining planning and setup/breakdown without their help. They took a huge load off our shoulders and allowed us (and our family and friends) to thoroughly enjoy our wedding week with as little stress as possible. All of this was for a reasonable price, far more affordable than what many wedding planners and coordinators charge. The wedding was beautiful from start to finish, and our family and friends are still talking about it. I would absolutely recommend Sweetly Designed Events for a wedding or any other major event.

Topped with fresh Parmesan cheese Dessert: None I ate here Tuesday night 12/30/08. It's a nice small little place with plenty of street parking. There was a group of us so we went family style on the appetizers. The mussels were delicious. The calamari was also very good, it was great to eat some calamari that wasn't fried for once. But call me biased, because I love crab cakes, but these ones were absolutely delicious! I ordered the Fettuccine with Pan Seared Shrimp. This was more so because my brother ordered the Shrimp and Scallop Brochettes, and I wanted to see as many entrees. But I definitely see myself going back to try so many entrees that look absolutely divine. My entree was good. I don't know much about Caribbean food, but didn't really picture it with the paremsan cheese and some melted cheese, but then again I did order fettuccine. I have to say that the mixture of the vegetables and sauce made it absolutely delicious! Unfortunately I couldn't finish it because I dabbled in so many of the appetizers.

And my salmon was delicious - the sauce was perfect. I equally loved the rice and veggies, although they were far from healthy! Clearly cooked in butter or oil. Our only disappointment were the plantains -- maybe it was us, but they just didn't hit the spot. I'd love to come back for lunch sometime as their salad and sandwiches sound fantastic! Be prepared though, I saved half my entree for lunch the next day and still walked out over stuffed!

Update (2025): I…read morefirst stayed at Crescent Suites years ago while visiting my sister at Brandeis University, and honestly, I didn't fully appreciate how good this place was until I revisited my notes. Now that I've had more travel experience, I can confidently say this hotel is a hidden gem in Waltham. The apartment-style rooms are fantastic--spacious, clean, and equipped with full kitchens, comfy seating areas, and all the essentials. It's more like staying in a cozy apartment than a standard hotel, which makes solo trips, family visits, or longer stays feel effortless. The service is genuinely warm and welcoming, and the breakfast is a standout--custom-made eggs cooked to order and expertly crafted coffee that beats any run-of-the-mill hotel fare. The location is great too--close enough to Brandeis University for visiting students, but also easy to explore Waltham's Moody Street for restaurants, cafés, and a little local charm. The area felt safe and walkable, and for outdoor enthusiasts, you can hop on nearby trails along the Charles River or Mass Central Rail Trail for some scenic exercise. Bottom line: Whether you're visiting Waltham for school, family, or just a weekend getaway, Crescent Suites hits all the marks. If I ever find myself back in the area, I won't think twice about staying here again.
