Room had multiple areas where paint was peeling, showing floor had a large area where caulking was used as a patch and it was all coming up. The edge of the shower looked like it hasn't been cleaned in a long time. The toilet had caulking painted around as well as metal outlet covers where painted. It look like a cheap landlord make over. BED BUGS. ZERO CUSTOMER SERVICE. NIGHTMARE EXPERIENCE TO AVOID! Traveling for a two-month work training and got put up in this hotel by my employer. It was referred by the training company and seemed to be an okay hotel. Until I woke up to bed bugs crawling on my face and all over my bed! I found bedbugs in this hotel room on Monday, July 17, after a month of being a guest already. I immediately notified the hotel staff. Unfortunately, it's been over a week and all my contaminated belongings still haven't been treated. We had been trying to communicate with GM Bob Ayers, but he has abruptly left his job as general manager. The hotel staff has no idea how to handle the problem and they have now moved my rooms four times. They had me bag up my own items (they only offered me the flimsy clear bags that come with the hotel - so I had to go out and buy my own thick black bags). They will not allow us access to our belongings in the room; however - they will NOT treat them. They are insulting and not helpful. Now, in the fourth room since the 17th - I am in a room that is under construction - there are holes in the wall, rips in the mattress, nothing works, and the toilet seat is not even attached. They have no more options for me at all. Marriott customer service has repeatedly instructed me to reach out to hotel management to address my issues and I have, but hotel management made it clear that they still are unable to find a solution. My experience has been awful and I hope that the Marriot organization understands the imperative to make this right. DO NOT STAY HERE! read more

Close to Hanscom AFB, so it's convenient. Nicer rooms, nice lobby with plenty areas to sit and have good wifi. Rooms are nice, if a bit cold. Exercise room and pool are nice, but you feel like you're in a fishbowl when you work out. They serve cheese and beer/wine from 5-6pm every day, that's nice. They also put on a good breakfast, so that's good. There's a Wxyz bar at the Aloft across the parking lot. They serve dinner-like food if you don't feel like going anywhere, and don't feel like ordering in. That's nice, but Wxyz doesn't have the nicest food - it will fill your pie hole, but that's about it. Foodies don't seek that place out. Make abso-effing-lutely you get the proper price quote and save that confirmation with that price. They bent me over a barrel and BF*ed me over rates one time. Once bit, twice shy. Have the confirmation with the quoted price, or bring some lube. read more

Was awoken at 4am from a suicidal/disturbed individual who was streaming and avoiding the police in his room. Police chased individual down the hall in front of my room and tackled him. Cuffed and taken away by ambulance I was quite disturbed after watching all this through my door "keyhole". Had a hard getting back to sleep. Mentioned it to the front desk and on the review after the stay but to no avail. Guess corporate doesn't care about your stay experience or what happens. Duly noted. Customer Service training and employee background checks are needed at this hotel. It's unbelievable what a return guest experienced with the manager on duty and her staff. Just Avoid this Hotel and the Aloft across the parking lot. Update: the night auditor just Informed me I'll be paying for two nights. They even went ahead and checked me in and I'm not physically at the hotel. Checked out at 1:45pm with a verbally approved late check out of 2pm. The Marriott Bonvoy app indicated my account had been compromised after speaking with corporate reservations. At least someone acknowledged we possibly have a bad apple at the Element. I was advised to cancel all forms of payment to stop any fraud or theft. Truly unbelievable experience for a cheap room to avoid travel in a terrible storm. read more

Due to Covid, housekeeping I was told is provided by appointment only . After the appointment was made for the next day no one showed up . This policy should have been explained upon check in - it wasn't . The usual nice breakfast buffet was gone as well, replaced with a box breakfast due to "Covid" . Lastly after coffee jug was empty, no one filled it . Since just about anyone that wants to be vaccinated was already, therefore no need to continue cutting services using Covid as an excuse . Cruise ships are now providing safely "served" no touch food, and I was told that your housekeeping personnel are all vaccinated. This is as good as it's going to get. read more

Called to change reservation from 3 to 2 nights within the stated 24h cancelation policy. Front desk said system was down but would change our reservation with no fee. Called next day and learned reservation had not been changed. I asked again to change but was told that I couldn't cancel because it was less than 24h notice. I explained about the system being down but the service rep denied it and insinuated I was lying. At one point I said "I worked hard for my money" and she replied "And so does everybody else." She eventually agreed to do the change and then proceeded to cancel the entire reservation! Not only did they not change the reservation even though I was within their stated cancelation policy, they canceled the entire reservation and charged me for it. read more

BEDBUGS!!! Stayed (part of) the evening of May 30, 2020. Was a little disconcerting that the hotel seemed to be housing, perhaps, welfare families. Found a live bedbug on the pillow. We quickly checked out and put all clothes in the wash and dryer. Found four more dead bedbugs in the dryer! The management didn't give us any argument (especially since I had captured the bedbug in a glass and brought it to them). I was a little taken aback by their seeming lack of surprise though. This place is as beat up as a 90 year old boxer. When I went to check in there was no one to be found at the front desk and I had to call the hotel to bring anyone out of hiding. My room is beat up with a stained mattress and basically every where you look broken things and marks in furniture and damage to walls. Basically looks like an army boot camp came through and did battle for a month. Total disrespect for the paying customer and clearly no pride in their business. There's a dog bowl in the lobby so I guess it's a pet hotel and frankly that's animal cruelty. I don't imagine management would mind if you brought 5 German shepherds or some other ridiculous amount of pets so there's that if that's your thing. Also If you're on the lamb and hiding from the cops I suppose it's a cheap option but I'll never stay here again unless I'm on the lamb. Steer clear if you're not used to skid row. read more

I stayed here for only one night and would not recommend this hotel. The desk is. I help. I wanted to get some wine for the evening. I asked the lady at the desk why stores close at 6 and she told me she know. So I went to my room to relax. She never pointed out they sell small bottles of wine. She also didn't point out that they have free beer and wine at 7. Worse I worked at 5 am and I guess back at my room was the first time barefoot and there's food crumbs on the carpet. I'm so confused by this hotel So we had to delay check in by a day--we called the day before and said this would be the case. But when we got there, it took ages to check in and the person manning the front desk seemed pretty confused. Eventually, after about a half an hour milling around trying to check in, we get to our room and...it's the wrong room lol. We had booked a room with a king bed and ended up in a room with two queens. Okay not that bad we will just change rooms the next day. Then my husband wants to take a shower. THERE ARE NO TOWELS. Only two face towels in the bathroom. Also...no soap in the shower. Seriously. We had to call the front desk TWICE to get towels delivered to our room. This hotel is weirdly under stocked and seems unprepared. There is a full kitchen in the room which is nice. At this point I'm just like...wtf is happening lol this is the strangest hotel i have ever stayed at. Wifi is very very slow. Could not stream a movie on the laptop. You know, this is rare for me to say on Yelp. In fact, I don't think I've ever said this. If I could give this place 6 stars, I totally would. Top to bottom, I had a fantastic stay at this location last weekend. It's so much more than the quality of the room (excellent all around), the comfort of the beds (honestly I hadn't slept so well in so long), the free breakfast (having hot breakfast sandwiches as part of a free breakfast is always going to win me over), the free wifi (with the amount hotel chains try to nickel and dime you for this stuff, it's amazing to me that they don't), or the free evening snacks during the week (the night I showed up, they had free tacos and beer for guests... it's like Beavis and Butthead's greatest dream come true). No, it's the way they give all this to you. They serve you with a smile at all times. I mean, they could throw out the breakfast sandwiches on a table and ignore it. But there's an attendant standing by at all times bringing out the food, and the servers are all more than willing to bring you more food. Oh, we're out of croissant sandwiches? No problem, I'll make you one right now. And we didn't even have to ask them to do it. They give you free food, and then they go in the back and give you more free food happily, and you don't have to prod them to do it. Heck, I get mediocre service at some hotel breakfast buffets I've paid for in my life. This is some of the best service ever for a free meal. Now, was the food gourmet good? Probably not. They're not putting out an omelet station here. But it's good enough and plentiful. Plenty of breads, fruit, cereal, sandwiches, coffee, juices, etc. I didn't complain one bit. And the servers all talk to you, and learn a bit about you. I was talking to them about where I'm from, where they're from, etc. They seem to like people. The front desk was more than accommodating, and very easy going. Again, smiles and just good feelings all around no matter who I dealt with. Oh, and by the way... I got all of these freebies thrown in on their Hotwire rate, which I'm not going to tell you what it was. Let's just say that it was so good, I felt like I was stealing from them every time I ate a sandwich (I ate many). Their normal rates appear to be at least three times what i paid. But this was the first weekend in November just out of tourist season. Your price may vary based on demand. But I'd pay more than what I did to stay here because it was that good. If there was anything, even anything I could bring up as a problem, it might be this. I didn't know this going in, but it is pet friendly here. I saw many pet owners with their dogs this weekend here. I have no problem with this. It's a nice thing. But both my wife and I are allergic. It appears that being pet friendly, I'm sure many owners bring their pets and let them sleep on the beds. The fact that my wife and I woke up every morning congested told me this was probably the reason. But I'm not faulting the chain. It's probably more my fault for not bringing Claritin. If you are affected as well, be aware that you might need to do the same. Otherwise the room is clean, you just can't do anything about pet dander if it is in a room. Just a fact of life. I've been to a normal Westin hotel, and was nickel and dimed for everything. This brand was designed to be different. I really appreciate everything they did for us, and really wish every hotel chain behaved like this brand does. Starwood hotels generally have been good to me. This one was beyond good. This hotel is fine. It's got very comfortable beds, decent size rooms, clean enough, kitchenettes are a nice touch. The rates are reasonable and they allow pets- which I like. The gym is fine, the pool is fine. Nothing earth shattering, but fine. The breakfast is ok- some hot items offered, but mainly cereal and bagels- which is fine. Coffee was very good!! The hotel can get busy during the week which means it is crowded. It can feel like a dorm a bit. The walls are not well insulated and often you can hear the annoyance of heavy feet if you have floors above you. Given many people use their kitchenettes- the halls often smell of curry or cooking- which can be overwhelming. We were in a bind with a housing project that left us homeless. It was a good option due to the location, pet policy and price. I'd rate it higher if I was a bit more updated and wasn't so noisy when at high occupancy. Probably my first non-restaurant review, but decided it was time to branch out a little. Stayed here on my last trip to Boston - my family has stayed here before but this was my first time at this hotel. There's a reason they wanted to go back! This hotel is super chic and the location was fairly convenient (about 15 minutes from Downtown Boston by car). The decor is modern and everything is meant to be eco-friendly. After having slept on a sofa bed for the previous two nights, this bed was like sleeping on a cloud or something. The room is a good size, with a sectional sofa (that can be converted into a sofa bed), a full size kitchen, and a work desk. The bathroom is almost the size of some hotel rooms (ok, slight exaggeration, but it's really big!) The body wash and shampoo are in dispensers, which I've definitely never seen before but was pretty neat. In the morning, they have a free breakfast that was delicious. I had a bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich on a pretzel bun. Yum yum. They also have a variety of pastries, a vegetarian breakfast burrito option, cereals, bagels, etc. Halfway through my breakfast, I noticed the guy from the hotel bringing something out and just kept staring at it, wondering what it was. The guy waved me over and was like, "Come try it. I know you've been eyeing it." It was a strawberry banana smoothie, a little on the sweet side but still good. Plus, everyone was very friendly. We got a good deal from Hotwire. I think staying here is normally a little on the pricier side, but if I could, I'd DEFINITELY come back. read more

I stayed here for two nights on a business trip. The hotel was nice and clean and my room was perfect except for a crack that had been haphazardly repaired in the shower pan. It wasn't hazardous, just poorly done. Breakfast was pretty good with a decent selection and the happy hour had two craft beers on tap although the snack selection was extremely limited. One star for location! We booked this hotel for the location, the hotel's photos online, and Marriott's reputation. When we arrived, we noticed that the hotel and our room did NOT look like the photos. Our room looked worn and not very clean. One bed had a stain on the sheets (we called and had the sheets changed by housekeeping). The carpeting appeared dirty, the faux wood flooring was sticky, the sink didn't drain, the shower door looked as though it hadn't been recently cleaned, and the tv remote did not look sanitized (our recent stays at Hilton hotels have all had sanitized remotes and the rooms have been spotless). We decided to put up with the situation because our itinerary was planned and we liked the location. On our second morning, we woke up with red, itchy bites all around our ankles. We are assuming these are flea bites because of the state of the carpeting (although perhaps they could be bed bug bites because the mattresses were not encased in protectors -- they only had one fitted sheet on them). We are extremely disappointed that the Marriott name is associated with a hotel that is in this state. Had we seen accurate pictures or known that we would be coming home covered in red, itchy bites, we would have changed our plans. read more

Recent Stay( July 2019!) The worst hotel experience to date! I would NOT RECOMMEND staying at this hotel. Matt the front desk attendant and Harley (the assistant general manager) are both liars and do not represent the Marriott brand. Upon check in for our night stay I asked Matt if there were any local eateries. (Checked in around 1:30pm). I was informed by Matt flat out "No and I would have to wait until 5pm for their sister location to open across the path. (Aloft)" I said really nothing in the area, he repeated, No. I believe Matt purposely lied so I would spend my money at their hotel brand(Aloft and Element). May I add for 5 half wings and fries(enough to feed a toddler) the cost was $12!! I had 3 people to feed. I would have to spend nearly $70 to make sure we were full! Hours later and at the point of hangry I was informed in fact the hotel has a LIST of local eatery areas that deliver(by another Marriott representative who took over for Matt); A LIST!!! I expressed my anger (respectfully) and the frustration at waiting 4+ hours to eat when the information was at Matt's finger tips the entire time! Harley the general manager comes in by calling and apologizing and promising to add 5000 Marriott Bonvoy points. Not only did HARLEY bold face lie and not add the point he has ignored 3 voicemails I left since my stay!!! Needless to say I filed a complaint with Marriott customer service and will follow up to see the results. I am still waiting (One week later) for Harley (the assistant general manager to add the 5000 points as promised!) read more

Booked this hotel as a mystery trough Hotwire and was pleasantly surprised! Great hotel, modern architecture, eco-friendly, dog-friendly, quiet location, free FULL breakfast. Wins all around for me! It's a little far from the city, but it's nice to get out of the 'hustle and bustle'. We found it easiest to drive to Alewife station, pay $7 to park for the day and then take the train into the city. Great choice! read more

Wanted to try Element out since they had suites for a similar price as the Aloft. The place is ok, it comes with a nice little kitchen and filtered water taps. Although you can tell that the hotel is getting old and does need an upgrade. The shower tiles were cracking and there were rust spots on the sheets. We went to check out the pool and it was green - not sure when the last time it was cleaned! It was nice that there was complementary breakfast, great place for families and pet friendly! read more

I stayed at this hotel and the Aloft (across the parking lot from this hotel) Mon-Thu for 6 months in 2018. Rooms and amenities were fine. But I have serious reservations about the integrity of the management team. I experienced two very clear incidents of theft, and it took a very long time and many phone calls, emails, and in-person escalations for them to do something as simple as key history search (which confirmed the theft). Every time I came back to the front desk to ask for progress, they told me it had been escalated and nothing can be done, or that there was no record of me telling them about this. I thought it was resolved after doing all of this for the first incident of theft. But when the second theft happened, the management team changed their strategy to simply ignoring my emails and follow ups (I had the email of the manager at this point). After a few months of trying to follow up, I was emotionally exhausted to fight for it any longer and took my business elsewhere. I reached an SPG platinum level while staying here for 100+ nights last year, and there was no acknowledgement for loyalty whatsoever both before and during the incident. I stuck with it for a while because I was coming back to this area for work, but I would suggest to anyone in a similar position to strongly consider other hotels before choosing this one. read more

The element is OK. I stay here pretty often for work. One of the things I value is the free breakfast. Includes cereal, breads, juice, hot sandwiches, etc. There are free apps in the evening but it's a pretty small occasion. It goes on for two hours or something like that. In terms of cleanliness, it is fairly clean. I have noticed that the water is a bit soft so after using soap, sometimes my hands continue to feel like there is soap residue on them. As for the sinks, I realized that there is a smell that emits from the sink drain. Almost smells like something is moldy or sweaty inside the drain but I get whiffs of it here and there almost everyday. Really great that they have a full fridge and partial kitchen in the rooms. read more

We stayed in the Element Lexington on Christmas Eve because we were visiting my sister Christmas Eve and Christmas Day - and the element is right down the road. It was Christmas Eve, but it was interesting that when we checked in, there was a woman sitting on the wall behind the desk who wasn't working, I don't think, and told us the woman who was working the desk would be there soon. About 3 minutes later she arrived and our check in was pleasant. Our main reason for staying at the element was that theres a full kitchen. When my partner verified that there was an oven the woman at the desk seemed unsure and told us that if there wasn't, we could come back down. We needed to bake French toast casserole for Christmas Day. There was no oven. But we made it work. Our room was comfortable and clean, and we enjoyed our stay! read more

Lipstick on a pig, but it IS a very nice shade of lipstick. Element Hotel, and Aloft Hotel (right across the street), are low income housing buildings that were converted into Eco-Friendly, slightly upscale (3.5 star) hotels. The staff is very friendly and helpful: I left my watch in my room, and freaked out, thinking it was missing. They found it. And didn't steal it. That was nice. And honest. The gym, main lobby/dining area, and pool area are all contemporary urban chic and tasteful. They provide a great breakfast that is definitely a cut above the standard "stale muffins and sad fruit" (egg white with asparagus in spinach wrap, anyone?) . They've got some sort of weekday dinner for M-F guests too. The rooms are a good size, and almost everyone comes with a full kitchen (2 burner stove!), free wifi and flat screen TV. Heavenly bed (like the Westin chain) too. All this for 100-$150/night, depending on the deal you rustle up. So why the 3 stars? Well, there's just a bunch of places where you can clearly see what this building used to be: The halls? They look (and sometimes smell) of their old, tenement days. The doors to the room have aluminum sheets riveted to them, which I think is supposed to look slick and modern...but instead looks like it is covering up damage...which is the case in some other area's as well. Are these aluminum sheets + rivets really fooling anyone? Cause I see this a LOT in business renovations. Anyway, the hotel is right off 128/95, just one exit above Rt2, so if you are a business traveler looking for access to the city without being in the city, it's a fair deal. All in all? If I was trying to rent a hotel room to impress *(Hello Ladies /HBO)* Then I'd pass on this place. If I was staying for a week+ in Boston, and wanted to cook some meals, or use a fridge, this place is suddenly VERY attractive. read more

Where do I start... 1st impression I was pretty impressed.. the place was clean and cool looking.... We got the very last room down the hall on the 2nd floor. The room itself was roomy and clean looking and very contemporary. As time went on, our 3 night stay here was not as enjoyable as we were hoping. The breakfast is not that great... Not a lot of selection but the coffee wasn't horrible. Not a kid friendly breakfast. We had an instance where we were out all day long and came back to our door ajar... The cleaning woman left our door unlocked ....when I called the front desk he did not seem too concerned... But after my husband went down and complaint in person, that's when they sent us a mechanic to look at our door. This person was very nice and tried very hard to help but the door still would just not close without actually physically pulling it shut. He did apologize and offered us a new room but we didn't want to have to move all our stuff we already unpacked. My 5 year old son had a accident overnight and peed the bed, when we asked them for new sheets the front desk the gentleman acted put out and told us we were going to need a whole new mattress because there is no kind of pad that protects it. He had a additude, and acted like he never had that happen before....For a hotel that lets dogs stay in rooms you figured they would spend the extra money to protect their mattresses... How many times have there been dogs peeing on the rug or beds. When we came back to our room after A-day of traveling in Boston we came home to our bag of pee blankets out in the hall outside our door like on display at 8pm. Talking about the dogs, they put a person next to us on the room next door with a dog and any time there was any type of noise or a door opening or closing the dog would bark loudly and then you would hear the owner scream at it... all night long.... They should have a separate floor for people who have animals. The walls and ceiling is are very thin and you can hear people walking around all night and slamming into the walls.... I got woken up many times around 11pm. I so wanted to like this hotel it has so much potential. But unfortunately it disappointed me in many ways and the people don't care enough to make you happy. By the way I was curious if they were really going to change our mattress after my son's accident on a bed....I marked the mattress with a pen on the side before we left for the day.... I recently booked a room for my wife and daughter at the Element in Lexington MA, which is a hotel we have used on several occasions in the past and always had positive experiences. This stay, however, was disappointing. In particular, the room we were provided did not appear to have been thoroughly cleaned, which was especially concerning during the current pandemic. Among other things, a prior guest's socks were in the couch, the interior of the microwave was not wiped clean, my daughter found a beetle in her hair in the morning, and the floors and bathroom had hair/crumbs and appeared not to have been vacuumed. In addition, the front desk was generally unattended making it too difficult to seek help, particularly as we were pressed for time. Finally, we called ahead to ask if the room would be available early and were told it would, but upon arrival (and after locating the front desk attendant) this became an issue that had to be renegotiated. read more

Love that this place is green, but wish that didn't translate into "super-low water pressure". It took me more than twice as long to get through my shower so I probably ended up using more water than I would have otherwise used, had the water pressure been decent. Also, the flooring in my room (I stayed on the 4th floor) felt somewhat greasy or wet. Don't know what the deal with that was, but I had to keep my socks on (I normally walk around my hotel room barefoot) because it felt so disturbing. That said, I enjoyed the free WiFi and the nice breakfast spread in the AM, even though I had to rush out and didn't partake of any of it. read more

I wrote a 5 star review in 2009 when the Element was new and the prices were low. Now economy good, prices run around $200 per night. Still a nice place but they really need more attention to detail. There were little things, some of the bath fixtures were loose (towel rack fell off the wall, toilet roll holder loose), both remotes were not clean, slow wifi. However bed and linens were very comfortable. I still like this place but it is beginning to get shopworn (similar comments made by other reviewers). Excellent Service I stayed at this hotel lately and was very impressed. The hotel had excellent service, and Mike the manager was kind, professional, and accommodating. It was very clean and the staff were helpful and friendly. The pool was wonderful and added to my experience. I highly recommend Element Lexington! read more
