For those of us that do not work on our own cars, it is sometimes difficult to know what we really need when it comes to auto repair. We are often at the mercy of what the "professional" mechanic tells us we need, and often have no idea how to tell if we are being taken for a ride. That is why Norm's Hytech Auto is such a great place to get your car repaired. I have taken my car here for a number of years and have always had a great experience. Since I have older cars, I often shop around first to see what the consensus is on the repair need and then compare price. On multiple occasions, other shops have told me I needed expensive repairs and quoted high prices. When I follow those estimates with one from Norm's, I sometimes find that the problems were misdiagnosed and that the repair need is not that great. And on those occasions where the problem was accurately diagnosed, Norm's prices beat the competition for the repair. As a result, over the years, I have saved hundreds, and possibly thousands of dollars by having my car serviced at Norm's. I highly recommend this facility. Have been meaning to update this review and rating. After having a full brake job done here at Norm's Hytech Auto, my front breaks still did not seem quite right. They expediently replaced the fuel pump and filter in my Silverado in less than 4 hours. Seeing how i cant give a rating of 0 stars, one will have to do. This place is horrible. They jacked my car up and when i tried to get them fix it they refused and said they didn't do. Well if you know about cars, you know the manifold goes into the head, well i had a bolt snap off into the head. Now i have a vette motor in the car which means i have aluminum heads. Well they completely screwed up the drilling and tapping of the aluminum head and instead of repairing the head correctly with helicoil, they just left the gigantic hole and shaved the manifold and use a different bolt hole in the head. When i had another shop look at the problem they showed me what they did. here are some pictures of their surgery. http://www.jskeffphoto.com/skeff/heads/ Well after months of fighting the $2000 repair bill it took me to fix their mistake i sued them in small claims court. They knew they were wrong and didn't even show up and just sent me check after the judgment. I'd avoid this place like the plague and I've been preaching this ever since that day. read more

There were very good things that happened. They got me a new (used) motor, replaced the timing belt, water pump and the power steering pump. That last one wasn't planned, one of the mechanics broke mine taking it out. And so begins the things that went wrong. After picking up my vehicle I realized two things; there was a key on my seat that was not mine and the radiator was leaking. I called and they had me come back. They key was another customer's car key. The radiator was certainly leaking. To replace the motor it had been taken out and then no one thought to test it before putting it back. I don't know when it started leaking- before or after repair. The day after I got the truck back I hopped up into the bed and quickly slipped and fell. My ribs hit the edge of the bed causing a lot of bruising. There was OIL EVERYWHERE! Someone had poured/ spilt motor oil all over my truck bed. Wow! Only time will tell how the repairs hold up. I do need a new radiator on top of the $2,500.00 repair I just paid for. The carelessness of not noticing the leak, leaving the key, braking the power steering pump and spilling oil all over my truck bed are very disturbing. read more

I've been taking my cars to Norm's for years. I've always been treated with courtesy and respect. They are very honest with their work and will not do unnecessary work just to charge the customer. I took my car my car in because I was told by Aamco that I needed a tuneup to eliminate a check engine light that was on,well that didn't do it.I spoke with Abraham and he suggested that they perform a diagnostic to find the problem.I am so happy to say that they did find the problem and corrected it.This is only my second time taking my car there but I am very satisfied with the work and service that I received.I have been looking for a good honest reputable repair shop in Fairfield and I feel that I have found one.I will definitely go back to them for any other repairs in the future read more

I had my boyfriend call the shop this morning, and he was able to speak to Arturo about letting me bring my car in today to have it checked out and fixed. Thank goodness Arturo was able to take me right away and squeeze me into his busy schedule. With it being a Monday, I really appreciate him going above and beyond to help me out. My boyfriend had taken his car there before so that is why I went to this shop specifically. Arturo and his employees were very friendly and very knowledgable. The service was great! Since I live in Rancho Cordova and drove all the way to Fairfield to have my car fixed by them specifically, means a lot with regards to how well the business in run! Norm's completely fucked over my car, a beautiful 1967 Mustang. I blew the head in it, and it took them six weeks to drop a new engine in it and all the parts that they needed, I could have found easily. I even told them where to purchase these parts, and Norm, the owner, refused to listen to a woman. It's been more than ten months, and I'm still having issues with the car. I'm currently experiencing problems with the lifters, the pistons and even have a problem with the burning oil and the carb not running right [and the carb, I believe, may be my fault]. At a 500 mile service in accordance to the rebuilt engine, they did not re-torque the head back down, and I am now having a problem with leaking oil from the head. Norm's Hy-Tech is most definately NOT the place to take your car to. They have horrible service, and I have had issues with customer service. Being a woman, I believe that these men who work there will not listen to me, simply because they think that I do not know anything about cars and therefore should be ignored. Do not take your car to Norms Hy-Tech. They have done everything wrong and personally, I could have had the rebuilt engine dropped in, taken care of and running in perfect shape a week after I blew it. read more

As another person said they wanted to give a rating of zero for the shit hole of a place it is, I completely agree. My family has been taking our vehicles to that shop for years and for the past few years the service and repairs have not fixed anything. The owner was rude and the monkeys he has to repair your vehicles shouldn't even be trusted to look at your vehicle.
