They season and prepare the food perfectly. It's never overcooked and the veggies are also steamed perfectly. I usually get the 1lb crab leg and 1lb crawfish with an extra 1lb of crawfish with Cajun seasoning. They never disappoint it's delicious every single time I order. I've also tried their oysters mussels and lobster... never fails... it's delicious. Only thing is they changed the butter, it's now this oily greasy butter sauce that's not good. I get the food from this location and drive to the other location on Wentworth for butter.

So this is the newest location in the area. I want to say that it has only been open a couple of…read more months. I ordered a large salmon and then for a separate order of a medium lobster tail. I explained that it needed to be separate due that the larger order is for someone who is allergic to shellfish. The guy at the counter ensures that he understands. I return to pickup my order and notice one larger container and ask where is the lobster tail? Initially he seems confused and then asks the cook. Turns out it is inside with the salmon. WTH. He apologized and immediately removed it. He swore that it was cooked separate and with the different seasoning. Here is my mistake I should of insisted on a new order. Got home and the lobster tail was indeed made with a separate seasoning BUT the salmon was obviously cooked with some shellfish. I presume shrimp. Upon serving it, I noticed there were small 3 flakes on the bottom of the fish. This is unacceptable and potentially could of been life threatening. I tried to check out a new location but I will stick to the location on 61 or 87th. If you have to go, check your food and check again.

Service was very slow, but the place was busy so we understood. Kitchen was extremely slow. Again we understood. Our food was very good. After watching desserts pass by our table all night we flagged down our waiter to order. We were told that we'd have to leave without dessert or coffee because our 90 minutes was almost up. We told him that most of that 90 minutes was spent waiting to order and waiting for our food. He spoke to his manager who confirmed that we'd have to leave. Terrible business model. With so many restaurant choices in Chicago, we won't be returning.

We arrived 20 minutes before our scheduled reservation, but we were seated within five minutes of arriving. The server, David, greeted us promptly when we were seated. He mentioned that if you're ordering appetizers, they should be ordered with the main meal. While we looked over the menu, water was offered. I ordered Blackened Catfish over brown rice and carrots. The catfish was tender and perfectly seasoned. My brother had grilled flounder with creamed corn. Like the catfish, the trout was tender and well-seasoned. The corn had a slight sweetness. Roger had Short ribs and mashed potatoes. The ribs were tender and did not need any sauce because they were seasoned well. We also ordered a side dish of Macaroni and Cheese. It was delicious! A mixture of Gouda cheese and other cheeses. Very creamy! The top layer cheese was baked perfectly! If you know, you know, it's all about the top layer of cheese The APPETIZERS: The Gumbo was spicy but delicious! You only taste the spice at the end . It's not overly spicy; it's just right. The fried chicken gizzards were tender but could have used a bit more seasoning. It was served over brown rice and gravy. If I'm not mistaken, there were maybe 8 or 9 gizzards. The fried green tomatoes were perfect! From the seasoning to the grilled shrimp on top. Oh yes, grilled shrimp with this delicious sauce drizzled over the tomatoes. 3 or 4 shrimp. They were delicious! I've never had fried green tomatoes served w/grilled shrimp--definitely a must-try if you've never had it. For dessert, pineapple upside-down cake with coconut cream on the side. It was soooo good! They could have removed the coconut cream, as it was not needed. And it was a shareable portion for 2-3 ppl. There were other desserts, such as Blueberry Cobbler, Key Lime Pie, and Vanilla Ice Cream. If you're in the Hyde Park area, give these folks a try Oh yeah, the Manager, Louis, was walking the floor. I spoke with him briefly From what I observed, it's a very casual dress code--jeans, shorts, blazers, etc. And I loved the quotes on the outside window of those who were killed, like George Floyd and Sandra Bland. This place was nice! The dining area was clean and decorated nicely. The choice of decor fit the overall scheme I look forward to visiting again, possibly next Spring.

You can check out the photos... everything was really tasty and prepared perfectly. The crispy shrimp delivered on the crispness, the braised oxtail was tender and flavorful, the fried green tomatoes had a different breading than I was used to (not cornmeal) but it was a delightful difference. I always enjoy discovering new ways to prepare traditional foods. I didn't get to try the dessert but it looked and smelled good. It's a pound cake version vs angel cake. The Hyde Park area where Chant is located has a lot of restaurants nearby in case you want to taste hop or folks in a large group want to try different things.

Sambal catfish with Cole slaw and cavitappi noodles in cheese sauce. The fish and cole slaw were very tasty. The noodles were okay. Koren Fried Chicken with pickles, corn bread, mash potatoes and gravy. The chicken was fried hard, it was a whole chicken but it was just okay in flavor. The pickle was a little weird. Mashed potatoes and gravy while I suspect they are powdered potatoes were decent on flavor. Pass on the corn bread. Lobster rangoon was pretty good. Honey Chipotle wings had a tasty sweet sauce. Fried green tomatoes was inedible, the green was too green leaving them hard, difficult to slice and bitter so we sent them back. Service was excellent, they took them away without a word and didn't charge us. Saigon noodles, best bite of the night! Tender beef, flavorful sauce, scallions and perfectly cooked noodles. Yum. Shrimp spring rolls. Just okay. Quesibirria eggrolls with tomato basil sauce, second best bite of the night. Tender meat, innovative sauce. Perfect eggroll shell. Grenada 9, spring fever, hibiscus margarita, all tasty! Lastly, there was a band. It was too loud (taking away from the dining experience especially with the acoustic feedback) and because my mother told me when you have nothing good to say, dont say anything, I'll stop there.
