I couldn't remember Norman Automotive's phone number and threw the name into Google to grab it and I was stunned to see a negative review of this place. I've had so many positive experiences here that seeing this terrible review by Bryan E. prompted me to share some of my experiences and attempt to count up the time, money and effort that Norman Automotive has saved me over the years. I moved to Norman, OK a little over 4 years ago and finding a reliable automotive repair shop was definitely on the list. I happen to get a young man that visited my door selling coupon books. I asked if he had any for automotive service/repair shops and he provided me with this one. It was a good deal so I bought it, as even if I ended up not liking this place, I could at least get some cheap oil changes. Our relationship began as just that, oil changes. Later on I found out that my cars lower intake manifold gasket needed to be replaced. I received a quote of $480 from Norman Automotive. This was the first major service I needed on this car since moving to OK and while they had handled my oil changes, brake pad replacement and normal car maintenance, I decided to do some price checking. I called 5 other local shops ranging from Norman, Moore and all the way up to OKC. I also contacted 3 dealers to see what they would charge. The most competitive quote I received was $625 and the average quote was $790. I even received a quote from a dealer for $1,200. Norman Automotive was cheaper by $145 over the next closest competitor and close is a relative word as this place was in OKC. So, they were less than half of one 1 dealer and almost half the cost of most. I can't remember the name of the woman that I first began working with at Norman Automotive, but she was wonderful. I have been dealing with Jimmy and John since and guess what? They are fantastic too. This establishment is the type of automotive repair, car shop, tune up place, service place, car joint or whatever nickname you can think of for an automotive service business that Fathers would send their daughters to. I know that when my daughter begins to drive and the eventual service that her car will need (I wonder if Norman Automotive services Tanks? I may decide that would be safer for her to drive....kidding of course.....well, maybe ) I will be sending her to Norman Automotive. Sadly, my life is drastically different now, as I am disabled and no longer drive, but Jimmy and the rest of the crew treats my wife with courtesy, respect, commitment and above all; honesty. Jimmy always inquires as to how I'm doing, how our daughter is doing and if something is wrong with one of the cars, not only explains the issue in detail to my wife, but has the courtesy to contact me at home and explain to me as well if it's a major issue. Essentially, he tells the same story twice even though he only needs to tell my wife. They monitor our cars and let us know if something is wrong and whether or not it's something that needs to be handled right away or my favorite - something that can be put off for 4 -6 months. Sure, you can find cheaper oil changes in town, but you can't find a more honest and thorough full service automotive business. If Jimmy, John or one of the other guys says my car is okay, I trust them. If they something needs to be handled or addressed within a certain time period, I trust them. This isn't a trust that was given blindly; this is a trust that was earned with good, honest business practices and excellent customer service. This is a trust that has been verified by not only the way I was treated, but by the way my wallet feels afterwards. I can recall a time when Jimmy even said, I would buy the tires "there" (can't remember the name of the place) as they will be cheaper than the ones I get, but we'll put them on for you. This was a perfect demonstration that Norman Automotive cares about you as a customer and a person, not just the cash in your wallet. So, Bryan E., I noticed you felt the need to put your review on Google reviews as well, guess I will do the same! Besides, Bryan, if you had a bad experience, try and resolve it, don't throw things in other people's faces. If that is one of your normal social practices, you must leave a lot of businesses disappointed. Automotive businesses have different prices on all sorts of different things Bryan, Norman Automotive is usually the best in the cost department, but nowhere is better in the service department. They aren't going to schmooz you, but they will give you the facts, to the point with honesty and courtesy. Norman Automotive - you not only have a customer here, but a lifelong customer.
P.S. - Please look into servicing Sherman Tanks. I may be buying one in the near future. read more
