Worse Place EVER! I wish I could give them NO STARS! I read the reviews and thought they were exaggerating. I wish they were. Rude Manager! Dropped off my car at 8:30 am. They told me it would go on the rack immediately. I called back at 10 am, nothing. I was told it will go on the rack now because the tech is cleaning his bay from the previous customer. Called back at 11:15 - got yelled at by JIMMY to go pick up my car! The moment I drove my car I knew it was worse! My steering wheel was out of alignment which wasn't even a problem when I took it in! Went in for a small alignment issue and left with a worse one! Who knows what other nonsense they did to my car - that I have yet to find out! At most an alignment takes 30 mins if no parts are necessary! LIARS AND HORRIBLE SERVICE! read more

I'm under the impression there is no warranty for Norman Automotive's work. I am not impressed. My work van has been in this shop for at least ten months. I hired Jimmy to replace the engine, which took him over three months to complete. He needed a specific lift to do the install. Why didn't you have that equipment before taking the vehicle? After I got the van back, there were oil leaks, so after having it for less than four months, it had to go back to the shop. The engine is brand new. When I called to get a status update, I heard about employees leaving for the day due to family emergencies, understandable. I heard about terminated employees being the reason for the delay. I heard, again, about needing a specific tool to fix the issue. Why don't you have the proper equipment to work on the machine you installed? He said he was waiting to hear back from the manufacturer, so I called the manufacturer to see what was happening. They told me they hadn't heard from him since he opened the claim. The last time I called Norman Automotive, he told me I needed a new part and, to my understanding, it would require taking the engine apart. I purchased a new engine to avoid this scenario. At this point, I was beyond frustrated. He tried to get off the phone with me quickly, and I refused. I pointed out how long the van had been out of commission and how ridiculous it was that he still couldn't tell me when we would get it back. I may have used some unprofessional language, and that was when I heard, "come pick up the van. I have the right to refuse service to anyone." After spending over $8000.00 to replace the engine, I expected a working vehicle. I wish that had happened. His invoice claims all warranties are manufacturer's warranties, and all repairs made with new replacement parts have a 12-month warranty. I DO NOT RECOMMEND NORMAN AUTOMOTIVE. He may post a response on here blaming me. Nothing is his fault. At least, that's been my experience with him. It's the manufacturer's fault. It's a terminated employee's fault. His employees always take off. He doesn't have the proper tools. It's raining outside, and he can't get your vehicle out of his yard. In my opinion, they are slow and unprofessional. I wish I could put into words how much I suggest customers steer clear of this place. Having written a letter to them detailing how I believed we were completely taken advantage of, and receiving no response, I feel it's my duty to warn others of their unethical business practices. We were advised to get a complete engine overhaul, costing us $2800, and when we left the shop, the car was in the worst state it has ever been. Check engine light has been on since, catalytic convertor is out, CO2 sensors out, idle control out, struts busted, and a bad oil plug leak. What can I say? The car worked great beforehand, then the timing belt broke, and now she's a sad little car that had a lot of promise before these awful mechanics and their shoddy repair work put their hands on her. I've been heartbroken over the whole ordeal, but received nothing but "Not our responsibility" from them. Please, please, do not take your car to them. I heard in the waiting room them recommending to another girl to get a complete engine overhaul and I wish I had gone out to her and advised her to get a second opinion. I often wonder if we ever even needed an engine overhaul. Could've been a simple, cheaper repair. I don't trust anything they did or advised. STEER CLEAR. read more

This is the worst auto shop I have ever known. And I will not return. In fact, all of the people I've been sending here over the years I will tell them not to go here any more. I've sent family here and my employees. I buy 3 to 4 of your coupon books once a year, which total around $200, for the past 3 years. I will never again do business with this place. I brought my 2015 Chevy in for an oil change. It was a perfectly good running truck, 77k miles. And someone here screwed up the oil change and caused seals to bust in my engine and oil was getting all over my spark plugs. When I took it back to the shop for them to fix it, Jimmy calls me and says all he has to do is change out the spark plugs and that it would cost me $400. No way dude! There's a bigger problem than just spark plugs and your shop caused it. I'm not paying for your mistake! I told him this over the phone and starts yelling and cussing at me. Totally unwarranted! Tells me to come pick up my "fucking truck" and that he's not going to touch it. Jimmy you need a good ass whooping for the way you talked to me, how many other customers have you talk to that way? So he calls me 10mins later acting all nice and asking me to come to the shop, so we can talk about this. He knew he was in trouble. I wanted to hear an apology and an offer to fix my truck. Which I would have turned down his offer to fix it anyways. I can't even trust you to do an oil change. Why would I let you do any more work to my truck? Lol. He only apologized for popping his top and not my truck. He tried to say that my truck had "codes" on it when I brought it in. No way! So, you've yelled at me, cussed at me, now your lying to me to keep you ass from getting into trouble. And yes, I have called my attorney. I called him the moment you hung up on me and said you weren't going to touch my "fucking" truck. You ruined my perfectly running truck! And you won't own up to it! Pathetic! But let me tell you how lucky you are. I had the truck towed to the Chevy dealership. And they diagnosed that seals were busted in the engine and they had to replace several components in the engine. NOT JUST THE SPARKPLUGS. So the lucky part for you is my powertrain warranty covered everything and now I can't come after your in court. LUCKY! But I do speak to my attorney again on Monday so we will see what he says. read more

It's a rip off, and extremely rude attitude towards customers. My battery died and they charged me a total of $233 including $198 for part and $35 for labor. The exact same battery is $120 at Auto Zone after tax, and we contacted other two auto repairs in town, one charges $150 for part and $20 for labor, the other charges $170 for part and $20 for labor. When I asked the manager Jimmy why they are charging much more, he said that's the way the run business. He told me that I knew nothing about business and turned me away with a $35 check and said he didn't want to waste time on me. I felt humiliated and deeply hurt by the manager Jimmy. I would urge you to stay away from this business if you want to avoid an very unpleasant auto repair experience. read more

New to town I needed to find a place to perform the routine maintenance on my fiance's and I's car. To be honest with you I stumbled upon this place just by chance as it is less than a half of mile from my place. Having said that, after my experience with this place if I were to move tomorrow to the other side of town, I would still bring our vehicles to Jimmy and Norman Automotive, they're that good. The customer service is incredible. I had an appointment for 10am and had some things come up at work and I had to push it back to a little bit later. They were great enough to allow me to come in @ 11 even though they had a busy day. I was only getting an oil change so they had me take a seat while they got it in and out within about 20 minutes. Not only were they extremely fast, but Jimmy even offered me the remote to watch whatever I wanted to watch in their waiting room. Not a huge deal I know, but a small touch of customer service that makes me feel comfortable. In the short period of time that I was in there waiting for the oil change I witnessed 2 regular customers come in and they were greeted by name and treated in a very mom and popish old fashioned way (great compliment), very comforting. I also heard the gentleman advise 1 of the customers to shop around for an after market part and he would be happy to install it for him. How many mechanics/body shops have you been to where they ask you to shop around to save you money?! Again this was very comforting and reassuring that I was in the right place. I was only here for about 20 minutes but I have already decided to bring my car (I was taking my fiance's this trip) back next week to have them service it. In the brief time of 20 minutes they assured me that A.) they work quickly B.) they value their customers and treat them like people want to be treated & C.) perhaps the most important, they're good people. He had an opportunity to show a guy that he cared and said look "if an aftermarket upgrade is going to cost you the same as replacing the factory part you might as well upgrade, why don't you look around for the best deal and I'll call you when I've got a quote on the factory replacement. If you want to do the after market upgrade I'll be more than happy to put it on for you. I don't know about you, but I think most mechanics/body shop would have loved to supply that after market part with whatever % markup they could add on top of it. Bottom line is this place is great. In 20 minutes they convinced me that they are THE place to take my cars in all of Norman. I will definitely be back. And they also sell one of their customers all natural honey in their store too! Wow not even sure where to start. I moved from edmond to norman to finish at OU. I got taken by several car companies in norman (your typical tack on charges and if somethings bad they make it worse so you HAVE to fix it then). Also several mom and pop car shops will rip you off in norman despite high customer praise. Jimmy and his crew at NORMAN AUTOMOTIVE are a damn god send and i mean that. No im not being paid or hyped up to write this. I found these guys when i left a company mechanic shop after paying 900 bucks and having the car still break down without them fixing the issue and giving me attitude on it ( they are gone now suprise). I found norman auto and they fixed my stuff right up for a super fair price ( in my favor). I couldnt believe it. Ive taken my crappy car to these guys ever since hell i even broke down in okc and paid to have it towed to their norman location instead of using near mechanics. Infact jimmy and his daughter gave me the number of a tow truck who did it for dirt cheap!!! They are always busy as is the way with good mechanic but i always ALWAYS get my vehicle back in a timely manner and its fixed. ALSO they go over what happen and ACTUALLY TEST DRIVE the vehicle to make sure its fixed....they dont just ride around the block and call it done. Ive never seen them ever tack on bs items or charges that you dont really need or do high pressure sales. Im also military (retired now) and so they always worked diligently to get me back to work. I know im gushing but once again i read alot of reviews and ppl always sound disingenuous and fake. Im a REAL person writing my honest to god feelings about this company. They WILL take care of your car for you no matter if youre a poor student who needs a tune up, a soldier needing to get back to work or a mom who heard an odd gridning sound on her way to work and got nervous. One last thing i wana mention...as a poc i feel it necessary to state that these guys are friendly as hell to poc. I once went to a mechanic shop in norman who despite their 5 stars actually insinuated that i had stolen my car!!!!!!! Holy crap i was shook. It might be in a redneck area of norman but you only get PROFESSIONAL and respectul treatment from Jimmy , his family and the mechanics at NORMAN AUTOMOTIVE. I feel it necessary to say that as getting ripped off on car issues is something poc fear. Thanks for reading this review and I hope it helped. Avoid the corporate shops in norman they look fancy and new but that dont mean a dang thing. Avoid the shops that seem to have a perfect rating yet nobodies leaving reviews or real insight.
