I suppose I would've formatted this as a normal review but it's Nordstorm Rack. Specifically the one in Galleria where I am pretty sure I have memorized all of the employee's faces. I actually haven't, because that's creepy, but let's just say that I tend to shop here a lot. Nordstrom Rack! Okay, Where do I start? Pros: - Wide variety of merchandise, lots to choose from. - Well organized shelfs, not much out of place. - Easy to navigate, arrows and signs all that other jazz really help. - They're not understaffed. That's a problem I see in most retail, but there is help in almost every corner of the store. - Presentation. Store seemed clean, organized and the way they present merchandise is awesome. It has a nice aesthetic to it. - Restrooms were decently clean. Cons - Returns can have a long wait, be sure that you have a receipt or a email pulled up. That too, and because maybe ten other people just so happen to have to return stuff on that specific time and day for some reason. - Trash cans were overfilling, I mean overfilling. I wish that the janitor service here could improve. - Some staff tend to be impatient, definitely. There are some good eggs, but some can just be meanies. - Some prices were unfair in my opinion. It's not their fault, but I just wish that some brands could lower their prices. I do still enjoy shopping here, but I definitely think there is more to be improved. The store is fine, the Bistro is unsafe! I've been shopping at Nordstrom for many years, and have enjoyed visiting the Bistro to refuel. That said, I am never coming back to eat here. We ordered the cilantro lime shrimp salad - the shrimp was pre cooked and reheated, making it super hard - the salad greens were partly rotten - the tomatoes were clearly pre cut and stored and were also rotten - the tortilla strips were super stale We also ordered the crab Mac n cheese, and it had hardly any cheese, a super loose sauce, and the panko topping was completely raw (and therefore tasted like cardboard.) We also had some crab bisque which was fine. Paying $65 for a lunch and leaving without getting to eat it is obnoxious. Having staff neglect to ask how your food is, so you can't correct the situation, is even more frustrating. Feel free to shop at the store if it meets your needs. I love this store. I don't shop here that often, but when I do, I always find what I am looking for. It has an amazing men's department and the shoe department will blow your mind for both men and women. I am sure you've all heard about the customer service at Nordstrom and it is true. Every time I have shopped here, the service has always been attentive and beyond what you receive at any other local department store. I know, I know, I'm reviewing a chain department store... but I really have such positive experiences here that it's worth documenting! Let me first start out by saying that I am by no means a baller so I don't frequent Nordstrom that much for the sake of my wallet, but when I want certain things it gets the job done right. You know those staples in your wardrobe that HAVE to fit the right way? I'm talking jeans, a great black dress, boots, etc. That's when I go to Nordstrom, and I never leave disappointed. The employees are consistently helpful, the items they carry are of such great quality, and ummm can we talk about the fitting rooms? Each one has its own mini stage to stand on and they're absolutely gigantic. Oh and the lighting doesn't make you want to live off of salad for a week after trying something on. I also love the cafe... I'm not even kidding, the sandwiches they have there are four (maybe even five) star worthy. Chicken, swiss, bright red tomatoes, basil, spinach, and chipotle mayo on country bread? Just the energy boost you need in order to shop to your highest potential. Yum. I love me some Nordstrom. This is a cool Norstrom's location. They have the coffee shop sitting right next door. This location is smaller than West County but still has some pretty cool offerings. We pretty much breezed through the store after searching for a specific item and not finding what we were looking for. I like how they have various sitting areas inside for when you need a break from shopping and want to sit down. Arrived ready to purchase a few new outfits for a series of events I have coming up. Unfortunately, there was poor to non-existent service on my visit. The only associate in the men's department was glued to his phone. The shoe department wasn't even staffed. Was hoping to purchase more, but due lack of service I just picked out one shirt and purchased it in the makeup department. My last few visits were similar. At least this time someone approached me, even if only to remind me the store was closing soon. read more

I used to really love this Nordstrom's location they always had really helpful sales people and great sales on luxury bags. Now when I visit the sale tables aren't organized in an appealing way or are non-existant. And their employees aren't as overly helpful and welcoming as they used to be. With so many brick and mortar stores competing for business over online options it doesn't make sense for other department stores to offer sales on the same luxury lines that Nordstrom's carries without Nordstrom creating a sale to compete. I still park outside this store and walk through on my way to other parts of the mall but I haven't found a reason lately to choose to purchase here over other stores. We came on this occasion to a private shopping event which was actually set up nicely which is why I rate them three stars. They invited too many people so it was overrun by shoppers and I expected it to be more private after hours. However, they had servers with champagne and dessert bites which was a great touch. I was able to find some cute items in the children's section at a competitive price for the brands so I didn't leave empty handed. They should hold more events like this to keep their customers coming in the store. read more

When I first heard that a new Nordstrom would be opening at the Galleria I was skeptical, given the level of buildup surrounding the store's opening and the fact that the Galleria could not support any more retail tenants. For a time, new stores were coming in left and right (including what I refer to as one of the smallest True Religion outposts known to man--I digress). When it comes to this location of Nordstrom, it seems that the rumors are true--it is indeed an A store. The shoe selection, just from my cursory walk through, appears more robust than at the West County location, which does not carry Jimmy Choo (shoes or handbags). Overall, the space is open and bright. The selection of paintings, especially on the second floor, adds an inspired touch, strengthening the case that art and commerce (shopping) really do complement one another. The cafe was what I came for on this visit. Located on the second floor, the cafe is more spacious than its West County counterpart and not nearly as crowded. The windows don't really provide sweeping vistas (unless one considers parking lots breathtaking), but having a view to the outside is always a plus. Even at the cafe, a high level of customer service is evident. As an example, the server provided, with only the merest of prompts, a copy of the recipe for an addictive kalamata olive dipping sauce that was served alongside an order of fries. What makes it even better is that the cafe is located on a floor that's home to some of my favorite lines, including Rag and Bone, which I had not seen at West County. I will definitely be coming back for the cafe and to browse: bring on the half-yearly sale. read more

I usually order online to take advantage of free shipping and returns, but if I am in a pinch, I will order online to pick up in the store. At the Galleria, there are 2 designated Nordstrom store pick-up parking spots. Once you get to the parking spot, you can call the number (on the parking sign in front of you, or the phone # in your confirmation email) and the item you ordered will be brought out to you. They ask for the color of your car in order to find you. You will need to provide your ID and sign in order to verify your identity. I waited in my car for about 7 minutes after placing the call. When I do go inside to shop, I have always had great service. When asking for assistance while looking for jeans, I was given many options in my price range, and I was continuously checked in on while in the changing room. There is a reward program for spending a certain amount here- can be tied to your debit card or you can sign up for a credit card. read more

I stopped by the Nordstrom store in the St. Louis Galleria today. It was around 2:30 pm on a Monday. Normally when I am there just wanting to browse there will be an over abundance of eager employees wanting to assist me; and I will be asked repeatedly if they can help even after saying "No just browsing today". Today I went with the purpose of purchasing my favorite Jo Malone fragrance. I saw three sales clerks in the department; one giving someone a makeover, the other two assisting customers in lengthy transactions (I think involving credit card applications, etc.) One did look up and smile at me, but not one said "We will be with you very shortly" or "Let me see if I can find someone else to assist you. No words were exchanged. The customer count in the store was very low, so I was hoping that someone could come over and assist me instead of just looking over and then looking away. After standing for 10-15 min hoping I could be waited on I left and spent my $150 at Macys and was in and out within 10 min and on my way. read more

Oh how I have been waiting for you, Nordies. My mental countdown started about two years ago after seeing the "Nordstrom Fall 2011" signs around the galleria. Being new to STL at the time, I found it blasphemous that there wasn't one there already! I mean, isn't it standard to have a Nordstrom along with a Mrs. Fields, those annoying flat iron vendors, and screaming kids in every mall in America? Apparently not. I waited patiently two days after the grand opening in hopes of dodging some of the crowds. I knew I needed some zen time with the new store but I could not wait any longer and practically ran there Sunday afternoon. Everything was so shiny and new! I just strolled through the entire store with the widest grin imaginable, oo-ing and ah-ing at all the clothes, shoes, handbags, and jewelry that will one day be mine! Ok, maybe not. In reality, this store is not that huge compared to it's West Coast counterparts, but so far the selection of inventory looks like it will fulfill all my designer cravings. I had THEE best experience today at Nordstrom! It was definitely the exception to the rule, but it is still one I feel inclined to share. I traveled overnight from Denver to St. Louis and upon arrival, I realized that I was completely out of my Chanel eyebrow liner. (Brace yourself for the next piece of information...) Lacking eyebrow liner is NOT a good thing when I am coming home to see my family. See, there is a strange competition in my family about eyebrows; and not to toot my own horn, but mine typically take the cake! "What will I do?? I'm seeing my Aunts in t-minus 1 day and I won't be able to fill in my brows!?" So, I venture into Nordstrom and visit their Chanel counter. I am immediately met by a super cute girl named Chelsea. She was bubbly, more than informative, and she was even polite enough to allow me to rant about my "situation". Long story short: she & I collectively located the perfect replacement for my lovely liner and I was one happy girl. UNTIL, she delivers the news that they're out of my shade!! I, in desperate need, then ask her if we can work out me purchasing the sample. After a brief hold while she consulted her Manager, she returned with a gift. She gave me the brand-spanking-new sample for FREE! Early Christmas present? I think so! (PLEASE NOTE: As mentioned earlier, this is the exception to the rule. I am not encouraging people to run into the store to receive free items... but I HAD to note the level of customer service this location has to offer!) read more

This has got to be my least favorite Nordstrom. I frequently shop online (hello free shipping and free returns) but this location has always bothered me. The women's shoe section is always in disarray and carries way fewer shoes than they could for the amount of space they have. I tried to just look at Tory Burch shoes and they had less than four styles. Over the weekend I dropped by to see what they still had for the Anniversary Sale. In the handbag area I was literally followed around by two different sales associates. I understand they work off of commission but stalking customers is not the way to earn a sale. I definitely felt targeted because I was carrying a designer handbag. I don't think I would have noticed or been so bothered by this, but the exact same thing happened last year. I also really didn't like how the anniversary sale handbags were mixed in with regularly priced handbags. I just want to know what is what! I'll be sticking to the online and West County location from now on. read more

Although I cannot spend as much money here as I would like, I will say I have had nothing but great experiences at Nordstrom. Today was a typical day for me...all looking and no buying. This particular store offers my current favorite designer: Jimmy Choo. Since becoming obsessed with one of his handbags (this season), I enjoy coming to visit it from time to time because I will probably never actually buy it. One of my favorite aspects of all Nordstrom's is the bistro. When I lived in Dayton, my mother and I would regularly drive to Cincy to shop and eat at their Nordstrom bistro (they have a bleu cheese and pear salad that will knock your socks off). It has a very high class feel without the price tag AND they give you free, deliciously crusty French bread. What more can you ask for? But...it gets better. Once you've finished your meal, you can stroll on down to their cafe and get a great cup of coffee to sip while you spend your whole paycheck on a purse. Their selection of handbags and shoes makes me so very happy...whether you want Marc Jacobs, Michael Kors or Burberry -- they have it all! They also offer a loyalty card that can be linked to your checking account to give you access to special members only events. It's completely free to sign up. This is definitely my go to department store for designer goods. read more

Of the two Nordstrom stores in St. Louis, this one is the lesser of the two in my opinion - even though it's newer. I had very high hopes for this one, especially since it was under construction for about a trillion years, but I was quite disappointed with the finished product in actuality. The two highlights I will grant this Nordstrom are that it has a big women's shoe section and a big pj / lingerie section. There. Done. Other than those two things, though, this is a pretty average Nordstrom. The juniors section is smaller than West County, as is the dress and designer section. It has a cafe which is exactly the same as the West County location. The men's and kid's sections are negligible as always, and more than overpowered by the handbags and cosmetics on the same floor. The staff is friendly as they're all trained to be, customer service takes it to another level, but the stock and whole package just fail to shine as some Nordstroms do in my opinion. Eh... it's fine but not spectacular, and I'll go to another Nordstrom over this one when given a choice, but that's just me. read more

I finally got around to checking out the new location today. Thankfully, for a beautiful sunday afternoon the mall wasn't that crowded. Nordstrom was practically empty. I dunno.. I mean.. it's Nordstrom so it can't be bad. The store was immaculate and nicely laid out. I guess I'm just not high fashion enough for them. They had a few beautiful pieces but I like the other Nordstrom a lot better. I find the clothes there a lot more wearable! Somehow, I just don't see myself wearing a floor length blue fake fur jacket like they were selling here. I guess they're too used to people coming in just to check the place out. I spent about half an hour wandering around various departments and never once had a salesperson approach me. I can't even look longingly at a dress in the West County location without someone asking me if I could use some help. That's what I'd expect from a Nordstrom. read more

While I can most certainly wax poetic about a stellar restaurant experience, when it comes to clothing stores, I never really have much to say. I'm not much of a shopper -- actually, I HATE shopping. So I try not to do it that much unless I absolutely have to. And I certainly don't shop at places like Nordstrom. Do I look like I'm made of money to you? (Answer: I'm NOT!) Anyway, I have a big event coming up tomorrow, and I wanted to look awesome for it. There were a few things I needed to pick up, and somehow, me and Joselyn ended up at Nordie's. Long story short, the sales rep went over and beyond in helping me find exactly what I needed. She was stellar. I haven't received amazing service like that...well, EVER. One little touch at the end I loved: after my purchase was bagged, instead of handing the bag to me over the counter, she actually walked around the cashier stand to hand it to me! I know it's silly, but little touches like that make me feel super special as a customer (and maybe even helps me recover from the expensive price tag!) read more

This is a really nice Nordstrom. First off, I love the layout and I love the fact that Nordstrom has a cafe and coffee bar (their flavored iced tea is really good!). The best thing about Nordstrom, however, is the selection and their return policy. I bought a pair of sunglasses at one of their Los Angeles location this past Spring and unfortunately, they broke. I exchanged them at this St. Louis location and they did so, without any hassle, and even without my receipt. Great service, fabulous selection, and great location! I have been a loyal customer of Nordstrom's for years, spent thousands of dollars, and today was denied a return for a pair of shoes I had just purchased there, that I had clearly never worn. The rude salesgirl, Mariah F, was extremely hostile towards me and insisted I had worn the shoes, even though they were obviously new and I had my receipt. Then when I asked to speak to a real manager they were mysteriously all busy. The ironic part is Nordstrom doesn't even have a return policy and is notorious for accepting anything back, used or not! Listen, I love Nordstrom, and I shop at this location frequently. I had an experience last January where someone stole about $750 worth of newly purchased Nordstrom merchandise out of the locked trunk of my car from the Landing riverfront parking garage in broad daylight (a hotbed of theft). Because it was still in bags with receipts, he tried to return it within hours. Customer Service went ABOVE and BEYOND. Not only did they figure out the guy was trying to return stolen stuff before I arrived, but also, they were far more helpful at catching him than the police (who could not have cared less). They gave me a full refund which allowed me to go through the store and replace everything before my vacation. It was the best possible outcome and it was all thanks to Nordstrom. I'll never forget how well I was treated that day. I've always had good luck and good service from the sales associates here too, particularly in the shoe department and the kids department as well. My ONE and ONLY gripe is the ridiculous annoying voice that comes over the loudspeaker periodically. For the love of sweet baby Jesus, make it STOP! It goes something like this, "Bee Boo Bee boop...Fiiive ZE-RO.." Sometimes the numbers vary. I don't know what it means, if it's some sort of secret code for employees, but it makes me want to chisel my eardrums out with a screwdriver. And, I've heard it on many other occasions, so I know that it's not some sort of prank. The first time I heard it, I laughed because it was late, and I assumed some employees were just goofing around. Over the holidays, I was trying on some athleisure wear in the dressing room, and I got so viscerally annoyed by THE VOICE that I almost left without buying anything. Went to Nordstroms looking for shoes. Found a pair I wanted to try on but could not find one sales person to help me. Soon discovered that the group of 5 people talking loudly and joking around were the sales people for that department! Not one of them would acknowledged me. Found a young man who was finished waiting on another customer come and help me. Turns out he was new that week and couldn't find the shoes in stock room that I wanted to try on. After about 15 mins he came out with them. He was shaking he was so nervous because it took so long. I went up to the group of sales people talking and asked them why they didn't help the new guy find the shoes and they all just gave me a dirty look! Horrible customer service at that location and the way a couple of them were dressed was not up to Nordstroms standards but okay for Walmart or cleaning bathrooms! Because I'm *kind of a big deal*, I was invited to go to the Friends and Family Preview today. Though the visual team was working their booty's off to get everything in order for the open date of 9/23/2011, a few loose ends were left, but if I know the Nordy's Visual team (and I do know a few of the crew, David Etling, you rock, brother), it'll be grand by next week. The second Nordstrom store is set to open to the public next week!!! As a shoe-a-holic, I am thrilled. The more shoes to fill the closet, the better, I say! Ugh. I have a problem when it comes to shoes. Really. There is no room for all of them, actually. As any good shoe connoisseur (I'm queen connoisseur, by the way) knows, Nordstrom has an AWESOME selection. This store is no exception. West County has a wonderful array, but the Galleria has a plethora (I've loved that word since Three Amigo's... and don't tell me I'm alone). My buddy, Jon Welker (best shoe man to go see, so go... see) tells me that this store has the largest selection of Jimmy Choo's... Not that I can afford them, but if I should win the lotto, I'm very certain Jon will assist me in spending every penny in the shoe department. In fact today, he showed me a fantastic selection, and for a dude that doesn't cross-dress on the weekends, he picked a few (beyond what I had already asked to try on) awesome ones. Trust him. He knows his women's shoes... and his adorable little ones like to eat, so get to the shoe buying, mmmkay? He's not paying for this endorsement. However, he should probably help me out with those Cole Haan's that I wanted so much when this starts to pay off. You know the ones, Jon. Size 7. I have mix reviews about this location. I love norides in general and am a frequent shopper! especially online! This has a very poor selection. They do not have as much as other stores but then again, they area a small store. I use to shop here all the time but realized that there's just more online and other locations. A guy in women's name brandon use to help me all the time and i was actual surprised he remembered my name overtime i came in to shop! sure i dropped tons and tons of $$$ there but lately it seems their selection has gone down within the past few years. the last couple times i've been there brandon was not there. I'm not sure if he's still with Nordstrom but he was one heck of a good SA! The people in the shoe department...i don't know what to say about them. i'm aware that they work off of commission so i'm not there to waste time wanting to try on a whole bunch of random shoes just for the hell of it! I'm there because i want/need something! Anyways, I was looking at a pair of valentino's and the SA that was helping me was absolutely rude! Oh well, his lost on commission, i bought elsewhere! I've always enjoyed excellent service at this location and the West County store. Employees are helpful, without being pushy, which is a huge plus! And if they don't have the sizes you are searching for, they will call around and get it shipped to your house at no additional charge. Prices can be steep on certain items, but the sales are good. I knew they clothes would be more expensive than I am accustomed to and I thought every shirt or pair of jeans would be $300-$400 or something like that (LOL). 2. I am plus sized and was skeptical of whether I'd find anything fashionable for my figure. I came in the store and went to the right and I saw some winter coats were on sale. I have been wanting to get a coat and I thought "why not just check out what they have", and I had no intention of buying anything. A friendly staff member (who was plus sized and her outfit looked lovely!) acknowledged my presence and helped me decide which one to try on in the dressing room. The dressing rooms were very nice and as soon as I put the coat on I knew I was gonna buy it. I did in fact buy the coat and I think I payed in total about $130. That was more than I thought I'd ever pay on a single pair of clothing but I felt it was worth it. I left very satisfied with the two women working there who helped me because they were pleasant and appeared as if they were genuinely happy to serve me. I wish I would have browsed around more but I didn't want to spend more money LOL. I have never really bought designer clothes or quality fabrics before but from what I have heard about nordstrom, the fabrics are of higher quality so IMO it's worth spending more money on them (and this is coming from a person without tons of extra income to spend). It wasn't nearly as expensive as I thought (judging from the few things I saw/ I wasn't there long). Also, if you are plus sized don't feel intimidated to stop in, the staff was warm and welcoming. I will definitely save some money and come back here to shop. My only suggestion is to at least have an idea of what you specifically want to get (like a coat, handbag, or dress for special occasion) b/c I can see a person dropping a few hundreds here on random things. read more
