My garage door motor required a new backup battery and continued beeping every 30 seconds until I thought I'd rip the unit out of its motor holder. I called the manufacturer of the Chamberlain motor and spoke with Maria about how to replace the new battery I purchased. It only took about three minutes for me to discover Maria hung up and I was talking to my ladder, instead. Now fueled with further frustration, I jumped into the car and drove to Nor-Cal Garage Door. I told the man at the counter I worked with the nicest young man in 2021 who installed my new motor. The man looked up my account and let me know the installer was Bryce. We purchased a garage door and electric opener. We've had nothing but problems with the opener not opening, showing error code...motor control. They've been out numerous times to no avail. we've asked them to replace unit and were told their company requires them to troubleshoot the problem first. We finally decided to live with it. It happens at least twice a month sometimes more and we have to wait 15-20 minute for it to reset. Outrageous! read more

Around 10 AM I heard a loud bang in my house. Looking round the house I could not find the source of the noise. Half an hour later my wife returned from shopping and the garage door would not open properly. I check the door and discovered one of the two springs the helps to lift the door and broken. Not sure who to call I ask a neighbor who experienced a problem with their garage door who did his repair. It was Nor-Cal door. I called Nor-Door and they said they have a person out to my house in the same afternoon. Jesse from Nor-Cal door arrived on time. Absolutely terrible, service and quality, we needed a new garage door without a new motor, they put in new door, and it was bent and falling off track, had to have have them replace it. After they replaced it they didn't put all the pieces back together. I had to spend half of my Saturday fixing things and finishing the door. Which this what I had already paid $1500 for them to do. They also were angry at me for requesting them to fix it, assuming this is why they left out pieces. DO NOT USE NOR-CAL GARAGE, more like Nor-Cal Garbage. read more

Norcal Garage Doors recently installed a new Liftmaster belt drive opener on my garage door. Excellent upgrade from our rickety Sears chain drive opener (circa 1990). Andrew the tech arrived on time, with an advance call, installed the unit in about an hour and did a great job of explaining the operation of the unit. He lubricated all the rollers and hinges and adjusted the door. Better than expected, at a reasonable price. I had previously called Norcal last year to replace a broken spring on my door, which made it impossible to open the door and get our car out. Of course this occurred around 4:00 pm on a Friday. Bryce the tech came out and replaced the spring, at about half the price quoted by the other company, that wouldn't come out until the following Monday. Excellent customer service! Nor Cal Garage Door installed our garage door over 10 years ago and another, smaller, custom made roll-up door 2 years ago. Both times they were professional, on time, and very friendly. The spring on our garage door finally broke and caused some damage to the top two panels of the door so the cars were trapped inside the garage! Help!! They were able to come out the same day and repair it enough so that at least we could get the cars out. The door panels were custom sizes, so we had to wait about a week to get everything back to like-new, but it was worth the wait. read more

Nor-Cal Garage got sent out for a home warranty issue with our garage door. I had a 2 hour window for when they'd show up and they communicated that they were going to be a little late due to a garage door install that was giving them grief. Stuff happens, and all we can ask for is some communication. They called and let me know and had an open schedule to accommodate my inconvenience. They did everything they said they'd do as far as giving me a half hour heads up before they were gonna be here to give me time to run my errands and be back to meet them. They showed up, and immediately got to work. They were super fast and even lubed my other garage door that wasn't part of the call out. I stumbled across this company originally when I was trying to find a second garage door opener remote for a house we bought. When I called NorCal, Shannon told me to bring in my old remote and he'd help me. So when I did , he got me a new second remote, programmed it, and sent me off within minutes. Super easy and not a big deal at all. Several months later I started thinking it would be nice to add a new automated garage opener to an existing manual shop door on our property. Shannon offered to come out that day and give me a free quote. I was hesitant as I assumed it would be spendy, and I didn't want to waste his time. Turns out it was surprisingly affordable, so we scheduled it. They came out on time, on the appointment day. What a pleasant experience with Nor Cal Garage Door. I called another local company looking for a simple stiffening strut and she wanted to charge me $65 for a service call and $130 for the strut! I happened across Nor Cal and Shannon totally took care of me! He sold me one over the counter for $25 bucks. Then Andrew came and installed the strut and additional bracket I bought plus he tuned up my other garage door and tightened and lubed both springs. All around great experience with this company. Overhead door showed up, one guy showed up in a small pickup got straight to business. He did an amazing job on our door. I even accidentally ordered the wrong windows, free of charge they accepted my mistake and replaced them with the ones I meant to order. I definitely recommend this company. Overhead Door of Redding installed both Garage Doors and openers on my house when we built it several years ago. Fast forward to the summer of 2013, I have a spring that breaks on my smaller garage door. I call Overhead Door, they say no problem, for about $125 bucks we can come out and fix it. I say, sign me up, how soon can you do it. She says we are really busy and I can't get anyone there until next friday ( a week away), I said ok, what time, she says, before lunch. We had a vacation in Lake Tahoe for that week, but cut it a day short to come home for the Garage Door Guy. We waited around all day, and no one shows up. I called the place at 4:30, and the woman says, Oh, we're sorry, he had an emergency. Really? No phone call, no apology, wtf? She says we will come out first thing monday, and did they? Not!!! I finally called another door company, they came out that day, and guess what? Fixed the problem, and fixed the noise from the initial bad installation of the tracks by Overhead Door. read more

To whom it may concern, buyer beware!!!!! I had overhead door install a Janus metal roll up door for me in my shop. I was originally looking to purchase a 10'x12' door. When calling overhead door on locust st. In redding the owner told me he could give me a great deal on a motorized One that a customer did not pick up. So I said OK that is fine I would like to purchase that door. Their installers brought the door up and did a fine installation.however after only a short time the door stopped working correctly I called Mike the owner at overhead door and he was going to have the installers come back out and adjust it.I ended up having to pay $85 to have the installers come back out for a service call and even after that my door only worked correctly for about a week and I have not ever been able to get overhead door to come backout and fix The door correctly it has been about five years and my door still does not work poor poor poor service by Mike and the boys at overhead door company of Redding on Locust Street. read more

This morning, garage door does not open, I am able to lift it and get the car out and notice a snapped cable. I call at about 9:30. I've had a few problems so I ask about replacement cost just in case. By 11:45 my wife texts me the door is fixed, service tech thinks it's fine and will last a long time. Sometime before I bought my house the sectional roll-up garage door developed a crack in the center brace where the automatic door opener attaches. Someone made a band-aid repair with some lightweight sheet metal. Recently my door would not reliably open. I discovered the situation I described above and noticed that the repair was no longer holding. I took some photos of the problem and went to Overhead's shop. I showed them the photos and they confidently told me that they had the solution to the problem. They have an "Operator Plate" that properly reinforces that area. I set up an appointment for two days later. Today the technician arrived a few minutes early. He was clean, polite, and knowledgeable. He installed the operator plate, re-positioned the horizontal strut to the correct location (top of section), lubricated and checked the door function. The door now functions as it should for a very reasonable price. If you have the problem I described above, this company has the solution. I have used Overhead Door Company of Redding since about 1997 when I had them convert a swing-out door to a sectional roll-up on my first house in Redding. I then had them install a new sectional door and opener in another house in about 2000. And now this repair. In each case they were pleasant to work, and did quality work for a fair price. I had American door come to my house to check my garage door which was not opening the tech said immediately your garage door is broken you need a new one $700 without windows $900 with windows so I thought I would get a second opinion called Norcal door Andrew looked at the door replaced to struts and made a couple of adjustments it works fine now $118.62 so would I call American door to check my garage door again, no. read more

WOW WOW WOW . What a disappointment. After being a customer for service calls and a two openers in one of my garages I discovered that when it comes to poor workmanship there is no warranty even for repeat customers over many years. (This surprised my neighbors when I told them of my problems.) My door began making loud sounds within 12 months of the new installation but I didn't realize how bad it was until the "rail" and its mounting bracket popped out of the header board and just dangled in space. When they installed the "rail" that runs from the unit to the huge header over the garage door they used lag bolts that measured just 1-5/8". That leaves just 1" of bolt into the header. The rest was taken up with the 5/8" drywall Their office person insisted that it was "wear and tear" which is NOT warranted. In other words, they do not warrant their POOR WORKMANSHIP. Oh sure, they will come out and diagnose the problem but that's going to COST you $65. if it's been more than 12 months since installation. Based upon that attitude, only the Lord knows what they would charge to re-do their poor installation once they arrive. I decided to go elsewhere. (The company that re-did their work installed 3" lag bolts.) After being advised of their policy of not honoring repeat customers I asked to speak to the absent owners. They refused to even honor me by calling back to attempt to justify their workmanship. read more

Needed the spring replaced on one of my two garage doors. They promised to have someone out within two hours of my call, and were on site within that time window. The repair man was completely professional, efficient and had the work done in less than half an hour. He even checked out my other opener and lubricated all points and the spring without my asking! I left them a message over the weekend about my automatic garage door coming off the tracks. They called me back first thing Monday morning (2/5/18) and came out later that morning. The service guy took a look at the problem said he could take care of it and went to work. An hour later the door was fixed and operating better than before it came off the tracks. The best part is they charged me for one hour's worth of labor, which is what it took them to fix the door. The garage door tracks were bent the cables had come off the pulleys and the wheels attaching the door to the track had come off. They could have easily charged me for new tracks, broken or damaged cables and pulleys, whatever, but they didn't. They saw and fixed the problem in an honest and reputable manner, that's how you it should be done and that's how they do it. I would recommend them hands down to anyone and everyone that asks. We have also had a very negative experience with this company's customer service. I called to order a door and the customer service rep was very difficult to deal with. When she eventually dispatched a person to my home to determine our door needs he was efficient and appropriate and agreed to go back to the office and order the door. However, he did not do that. I called back two days later to check on the order and found out it had not been placed, but she would place it today and the door would be here in two weeks. In two weeks, I have still not heard anything from this company regarding my door and so I called back. Once again, the customer service rep seemed "annoyed" that I was calling and didn't know anything about my order. She agreed to call me back, which she did, stating, I really don't know when your door will be here, but it will be here sometime. It shows that it is shipping. If I did not need an exact match to my pre-existing doors I would NOT be dealing with this company. I have dealt with American Door in the past and found them to be friendly, efficient and DO EXACTLY WHAT THEY SAY THEY ARE GOING TO DO! read more
