For my husband's 40th birthday I arranged a surprise meal with lots of friends and beforehand made a cake in the shape of a rocket as my husband likes Elton John and we called the cake Rocket Man. We took it to the Aagrah on the morning of the day of the meal and the waiters let us in specially and were really nice, jokingly saying that they thought the cake was a turkey! In the evening, the food was really delicious and everybody enjoyed it. The waiters again were great and put a sparkler in the end of the rocket cake and took photos of us all. Except just-eat told us we were outside the delivery area. Hmmm. So we phoned up, asked if they delivered to Gipton (they do) and duly placed an order. As it was a Saturday evening, we fully expected to wait ages for it to turn up. They gave us a delivery time of about 40 minutes but it arrived much quicker than that. We added 2 popadoms and a garlic nan to our order, bringing our grand total to £15.10. And for that very respectable price, we got, well, a small banquet - to be honest, I should've guessed it was going to be big since it arrived in a box... For the amount we got, you could've fed 4 people and had enough for leftovers. And the quality was incredible, my korma was beautifully creamy and the boyfriend's masala was wolfed down - which I always take as a good sign! Everything was utterly delicious, even the salad was good quality and very fresh and the garlic nan...wow. Delicious. I have no other words to describe it. Kudos to the delivery driver for finding our house without the need to call us and ask for directions (we're on a new build estate which isn't on most sat navs yet) and he was really polite and friendly too, which is always a good thing. The food is delightful and totally yummy!!! It is a BYO restaurant and we were given a corkscrews and glasses as soon as we sat down. The menu is extensive and the specials are great. I have Chicken Tikka Chum Chum which was delicious. We had 3 starters, 3 main courses, 4 side dishes and the bill came to £39, which is a bargain!!! To top the evening off, we asked one of the waiters to order us a taxi and he actually gave us a lift to where we needed to go. The main courses were equally generous and very tasty and and all our party agreed the food could not be faulted. The main downfall was when we went to use the toilets!! What can I say, we weren't expecting heated toilet seats or quilted loo roll but basic is too good a word to describe them! My advise would be to cross your legs and wait until you get home! On the negative side, they are still ironing out a couple of glitches including a telephone that isn't yet connected and no machine for card payments. The place was pretty full (hey, a new restaurant is big news in Rothwell) and I was glad that I was just getting something to take home. There is an impressive menu which includes a brief note explaining types of dish and a useful hotness indicator. There is a [very] small non Indian section. I chose Chicken Tikka Makkani which is very mild and plain rice. I was impressed by the quality and amount of meat and the sauce was lovely and buttery. I was less impressed by the price at around £9 but this is mainly a restaurant which does take away rather than a true takeaway. The Mirchez is unlicensed and diners are invited to bring their own alcohol (soft drinks are available) I look forward to dining here sometime soon and hopefully adding to this review.

The decor is a bit old fashioned but there are lots of brilliant photos of customers who have celebrated something there and really had a good time. The food is very nice and tasty and a varied menu and the staff and owners are very friendly and bring the food quickly and hot. The staff are polite and even though one of our group was being very awkward and a bit rude, they never antagonised him back. It was a very good night in the end.
