We no longer use this restaurant as we received appalling service on the last occasion. We had booked a table but was made to wait 45 minutes to be seated, whereas another party came in without a reservation and was seated almost immediately. The small table we were eventually given was at the top of a few stairs with no barrier, I was therefore unable to move my chair back for fear of falling down them. Although they appear to have won awards for their food, it is no better than no better than other Indian restaurants nearby such as Kebabeesh & Lala's. read more

my daughter dragged me here saying it was lovely and i must say i wasnt disappointed at all. Im not a big curry eater and dont like too hot stuff but this restaurants had enough choice for me without me having to go for the bland foods - they gave me the choice of whatever i wanted made not very hot and i thought that was very nice of them. I opted for a chicken curry - keema i think but cant be sure - and it was gorgeous - the sauce was just right and the sides that came with it were lovely too. My daughter had said it wasnt too dear but i thought it was - i think she must have been when there was a special offer on for students and thought wow this is cheap - our meal with all the sides and beers cost £48 which is quite steep but the polite staff made it worthwhile and i even gave them a tip. I would go here again if i wanted a special meal but not on a normal night out as it is too dear. My favourite restraunt in the whole world!! A great selection of Indian food, all perfectly cooked, plenty of choice and some unusal dishes to boot. Their tandori Jinga is to die for. We always aim to go here 2 or 3 times a year but it is never enough. You have to book though, its always busy. Great friendly staff! This is truly one of Bradford's great secrets. read more

I dont enjoy curry so i chose a chicken tikka which was absolutely gorgeous and so morish. The staff were laughing at me as i dont like curry yet i was dipping my tikka into my sisters curry to stop it being dry. This is what i will do next time too as it was lovely this way - just enough churry to wet the chicken - am wanting one now thinking about it. the place was very clean inside and while it isnt the biggest place ive been to and it was very very buys and thus we had to wait for a table it is certainly somewhere i would go again. The prices werent the dearest either - infact i think mine was only £6 which is a bargain (with a coke). Definitely worth going. read more

Kiplings has a great reputation locally and it is, largely, deserved. The food is usually first rate, fresh and the menu well varied in taste and presentation. A couple of stars lost however due to two sub-par visits in terms of food quality recently and a rather irritating head waiter who can forget basic manners in his enthusiasm for coming across as a 'cheeky chap'. In terms of the recent dip in quality of the food I am as yet unaware of the reason. I will be visiting again shortly to check if it was a temporary blip. I hope it was as before the blip this was hands down the best indian meal around. If this proves to be the case I shall edit this review accordingly. read more

I dont like curry. Alright, I admit, its a bit odd to do a review on a curry restaurant when I dont like curry. BUT, this place is great. Having told them that i dont like curry, they bent over backwards to make me something that I would like. Apart from the Karachi in Bradford Centre this has to be the best Indian restaurant outside of the curry capital of Yorkshire. With all meals made fresh to order you have a little longer wait than most but it's well worth it for the delicate non-greasy samosas and fabulously spiced chicken or lamb dishes. The atmosphere is great and the interior isn't garish like some local establishments. It has a modern and special feel. It isn't cheap and will set you back around £65 for a full three course meal for two with wine or beers. We don't go that often based on the prices but it's not your average Cinema and a meal type Indian, it's one of those places you go as a special treat (like The Olive Garden at Rodley Roundabout, Leeds). read more

A great Indian located just down Harrogate Road from the Greengates traffic lights. They have a bar area upstairs for a drink before being shown to your table. It's a great extensive menu. The restaurant itself is quite small but lovley. Strongley recommend this restaurant for a special meal out read more

This is a nice place to eat, however is it quite pricey. It is the usual menu, nothing really stands out, but they are willing to make you things off the menu. It is also licenced. The building does not lend itself to being an eatery, and so space is fairly limited. Take is is quite nice. read more

An great curry in friendly surroundings, go off menu and create your own curry, all cooked to order or stick to your favourites on the menu. My personal favourite is a mix of prawn, lamb & chicken rather than just one main ingredient. A little dis-appointed when they started takeaways as drivers were in and out through the main reataurant and it appeared that the service for restaurant visitors had slipped at the expense of providing a take away service. Depsite this it's a lovelky atmosphere and all round excellent food and good value for money. read more

The least hygienic restaurant i have ever had the misfortune to step into! We had been here before around 12 months ago and had a great meal so i was shocked to see how much had changed. We were herded upstairs to the bar where it was standing room only to wait for our table. I was given a dirty glass and my husbands drink had black plastic floating in it. It took half an hour to be seated despite us booking. They served us poppadums, which were fine. Then it was another long wait for our main courses which were revolting. My rogan josh was like dolmio with curry powder (not much it still tasted italian) and a very sparse sprinkling of RAW tomatoes and onions on top. My husbands was like a paste, very over powering. As we ate a lad who had been in the restaurant was outside the window across from our table vomiting, we presumed at this point it was from drink but not so sure now. We asked someone to move him away...they didnt bother. My husband later saw a staff member going to the toilet (for a number 2, there is only one cubicle and he waited about 5 mins, the smell told a tale) and not washing his hands before returning to the kitchen. He Reported this to the owner who said don't "worry he isnt a chef...he's the pot wash"!!!!! How this place has a five star hygiene rating beggars belief! when we rang health and safety they said it was good for Bradford standards. I will never eat out in Bradford again knowing this. read more

I'll start by saying I've always praised this as my favourite Indian restaurant in the country. I used to tell everyone go to kiplings it's better than Akhbars but that's all in the past. Tonight I went with my family and pregnant wife to kiplings, services was a massive let down and we kept getting drinks in dirty glasses one even had a bit of black plastic floating it in, no apology just looked put out when I asked for another. I tried to forget it and enjoy the food. Something had changed, didn't taste as authentic as it did before but still not bad. T his all changed from the next bit. I am not making this up. I went to the toilet after our meal and as you know there is only one cubical in the mens. I waited for the stall to become free (5 minutes) Im bring vague as I don't think you need more detail but when the guy came out I realized he was kitchen staff and walked straight in to the backroom to the kitchen area (through the fire exit) Obviously more than a quick visit and he just didn't wash his hands. The smell was horrendous and to think he would then handle food. My wife is pregnant for god sake I've never made a scene at any restaurant it takes a lot to push me but hygiene or complete lack of disturbs me. I left it 20 mins before deciding to speak to the manager. I approached him with consideration to his business and how it may affect his customers dining that evening. His reaction was this: 'you mean the skinny guy in the tshirt, he's not a chef don't worry' I calmed down and said you can see my concerns though. It was my favourite restaurant and I couldn't believe it. I went and sat down for a bit but I got more angry for not dealing with this properly. I went back after we paid, and had another word. Manager said: 'I told you mate hes not a chef he's just pot wash!' So from not in the kitchen now he's handling our plates, glasses and cutlery. Big difference there. I proceeded to tell him that's was out of order and below an acceptable standard. I got a shrug and 'what do you want me to tell you' If we get any sort of food poisoning I'm going to sue this restaurant for a worrying lack of hygiene standards and Monday morning will be contacting department of health to look in to this. I can live with a mediocre even bad meal but kitchen staff going to the toilet and not washing hands, jeez are we in a third world county?
