Browsing through just-eat.co.uk one Saturday evening, we happened upon Al-Talia. Enticed by their…read morecurry deal (4 onion bahjis, salad, mint sauce, any 2 normal curries, fried rice, 4 chapaties and chips) for a bargainous £13, we decided to place an order. Except just-eat told us we were outside the delivery area. Hmmm. So we phoned up, asked if they delivered to Gipton (they do) and duly placed an order. As it was a Saturday evening, we fully expected to wait ages for it to turn up. They gave us a delivery time of about 40 minutes but it arrived much quicker than that. We added 2 popadoms and a garlic nan to our order, bringing our grand total to £15.10. And for that very respectable price, we got, well, a small banquet - to be honest, I should've guessed it was going to be big since it arrived in a box... For the amount we got, you could've fed 4 people and had enough for leftovers. And the quality was incredible, my korma was beautifully creamy and the boyfriend's masala was wolfed down - which I always take as a good sign! Everything was utterly delicious, even the salad was good quality and very fresh and the garlic nan...wow. Delicious. I have no other words to describe it. Kudos to the delivery driver for finding our house without the need to call us and ask for directions (we're on a new build estate which isn't on most sat navs yet) and he was really polite and friendly too, which is always a good thing. All in all, a great take away and one we'll definitely order from again.

The new management have given the place a lovely face lift so that surroundings are gorgeous. The waiters are excellent too, attentive but not in your face. The food is delightful and totally yummy!!! It is a BYO restaurant and we were given a corkscrews and glasses as soon as we sat down. The menu is extensive and the specials are great. I have Chicken Tikka Chum Chum which was delicious. We had 3 starters, 3 main courses, 4 side dishes and the bill came to £39, which is a bargain!!! To top the evening off, we asked one of the waiters to order us a taxi and he actually gave us a lift to where we needed to go. I am not sure this service is available all the time (ha ha) but it was very kind of them. All in all a fantastic dining experience and we are already planning our next visit (or 3).

This restaurant open several years ago and until last month I had purposely avoided dining there,…read moredue to the fact you can only describe the location of it as being in the middle of a car park and the building looks like an old shed! However my partner and another couple decided due to the credit crunch and with christmas looming an inexpensive night out was needed. Armed with bottles of wine and beer we ventured with nervous trepidation (This is a bring your own drinks resaurant) and we were very pleasently surprised. The surroundings were basis but clean and we were shown to our table and immediately brought menus and asked if we needed a corkscrew or bottle opener. The waiters were attentive but not in your face and after much deliberation over the extensive menu we all ordered. As well as the usual korma, madras, bhuna etc there is a large choice of specials which the waiter highly recommended. Complimenterary popadoms and relishes were brought whilst we awaited our starters. When the starters arrived they were freshly cooked and pipping hot and of very generous preportions. The main courses were equally generous and very tasty and and all our party agreed the food could not be faulted. The main downfall was when we went to use the toilets!! What can I say, we weren't expecting heated toilet seats or quilted loo roll but basic is too good a word to describe them! My advise would be to cross your legs and wait until you get home! However despite this slight oversight we would definately return again for good cheap authentic indian food! Cheeap and cheerful it definately is!

The price list does vary favourably for takeaway against eat in and you also benefit from free poppadums & pickles! Service has always been good & knowledgable staff are always on hand to give advice and recommendations. A very good selection of meat & veggie options across starters and mains to keep everyone happy. I haven't tried the desserts due to eyes bigger than my stomach on the prior courses. Definately worth a visit!

There aren't any windows in that bit, you know, and it's not entirely condusive to a pleasant dining experience. Another couple arrived after our starters had arrived and were seated in the same bit but had the common sense to ask for a different table - we didn't think of that... The food, though, was superb. It's not a lavish menu in terms of the quantity of dishes, but it's got a straightforward selection of genuinely delicious dishes. No greasy poppadoms and chewy naans here, thanks very much. Reasonably priced and good service means it's a good choice for a curry in LS7, just make sure you get a good table.
