I love the concept of the place and am not sure I've ever seen this broad of an Asian fusion concept before. I decided on the mango chicken which was quite good; the chicken was lightly breaded and fried and still crispy in the sauce. The flavor was good; it's labeled as spicy but definitely wasn't. They do have chili sauce on the table though so easy to add more heat. Heads up that rice is not included and needs to be ordered as a side if you want it. Entrees came out within minutes of ordering and beat our spring rolls to the table by a fair amount of time. Service was good and we really appreciated that a staff member asked us if we wanted the shade next to our table pulled down so the sun wouldn't be in our faces. Location is in a strip mall with plentiful parking.

They have a lot of protein options including bulgogi, pork belly, chicken, fish, shrimp, and kalbi. I wished they listed kalbi (one of the more unique options) closer to the top because I definitely just snapped off the the bulgogi and pork belly off the top. Everything is prepared fresh so you get to pick your toppings as well. They had signage for what goes into the tacos and the baos. They were happy to make modifications as necessary. There is a spicy sauce they put on it, but you can get that on the side if you're nervous. Also the onions that are on it are green onions rather than white onions if you're good with those! I really like the beef bulgogi taco. It was saucy and so tasty. The pork belly was good too but couldn't compare to the bulgogi taco. One was probably a snack size but they are quite large so 2 was perfect for lunch for me.

You can choose from fried fish, Korean fried chicken or beef bulgogi tacos. Interior: Very casual with bar seating and a couple of smaller tables. It's meant to be a take out fast food place. You order from the counter. Service was great ordered pickup on my Uber app and then got a prompt to pick up 5 mins later. Food: I ordered a pack of frozen bao which are white steamed buns to make my own pork belly buns at home. I took advantage of the 2 for 1 ubereats deal but the key Is you have to order the same one the promo. So I got 2 beef bulgogi and 2 fried fish tacos. The tacos were fresh. The tortilla was not stale at all. The fish was crispy and lightly battered and flavourful. The beef bulgogi was very tasty as well. I checked everything on the toppings list so both my tacos had the same topping which after a while both tacos tasted the same. That's my only complaint other than that the tacos were great. Love it and glad I tried will come back again and try the other items on the menu!

My friend had already gotten us a spot by the window by the time I got there so there was no need for any waiting. The service was great. I got the spicy Tom Yum soup since it reminds me of back home (Malaysia). The Tom Yum soup comes with the options of either chicken or shrimp however I requested for a vegetarian option and they were able to swap those for mushroom instead. My friend got the Pad Thai with Tofu. I got the appetizer sized Tom Yum soup since I did not want too much to eat, but the potion size was much bigger than I had expected, and to my friend's surprise arrived a huge bowl of Pad Thai. The service sizes are huge, so that's one thing to keep in mind before ordering as one order can feed more than 1 person. The Tom Yum soup met my expectations and did not disappoint. It was delicious, spicy, with a delicate tangy/sour flavour, and the mushrooms were great as well. My friend enjoyed her Pad Thai as well, however did not finish due to the large portion size. Will definitely recommend to check this place out if you're in the area.

My friend and I have been planning to meet up for a while. Our schedules and her moving to Hamilton…read morethis summer had delayed our plan, but we got it together last Saturday. For years, I lived the furthest from the office in our department. Well, that title has been bequeathed to my friend, who lives 60 km from the office. Luckily, we don't need to commute for the rest of 2020 due to the pandemic. If it were a contest, I'd move further east to win... haha! We both love Thai food. I looked at my Yelp bookmarks and suggested that we do takeout from Funky Thai. She liked the name and said, "Let's get funky!" Our plan was to find a park to chat and chow down. She was game. She got to the restaurant a couple of minutes before I did and texted me. I saw the Econo gas station and my eyes immediately looked at all the red signage that Funky Thai had. It's in a completely nondescript corner. I pulled in. There is a patch of road that is gravel. So, if you're turning in too fast, I can predict wiping out when it's slick. I backed into a parking spot next to my friend's car. To see her huge smile again was wonderful. I haven't seen her since I was last in the office back in early March! We walked into the restaurant. It is takeout only. Tables strategically placed next to one another provide a fort-like structure. The woman came over. She was nice. We saw the menu posted on the side. I went with curry pad thai with chicken. You can also do a mix of chicken and beef, and other protein combos for an extra charge. She asked whether I had any allergies, as chopped peanuts go on top of the pad thai. Nope, I was good. This combo came with an appetizer. I chose the veggie spring roll, as did my friend. I asked the woman whether she had any canned drinks. Her response? "Go to the gas station. It's cheaper. It's $1.75 here." Wow! Talk about being honest and promoting Econo Gas. My friend got the pineapple cashew nut fried rice with chicken and beef. It sounded good. Considering that we both did a mini road trip to Oakville, we both needed to use the washroom. You can only use it only if you're a customer. We asked if we could. The woman first went to the washroom to check. She then came back and moved one of the Tetris-like tables away so that my friend could walk over there. Once she came back, it was my turn. The washroom was clean and spacious. My food was ready pretty fast. My friend's took a bit longer. Still, it was fast considering that we were the only folks there. While I was in the washroom, my friend asked the nice woman where we could go to eat lunch. She recommended going down to the waterfront. She said that there were many parks. Nice! We chose Bronte Beach Park and drove over there. Once we found a vacant park bench, we had our late lunch. My friend confessed that she ate her veggie spring roll driving over to the park. I knew that it was yummy just from that admission. The veggie spring roll is amazing. It is jammed full of veggies and glass noodles. It was large, crunchy, and so go with the sweet and sour dipping sauce. I'd come back just for the spring roll alone. My curry pad thai was nicely packed. It looked pretty. It tasted yummy. The noodles were perfect. The curry wasn't spicy. I went with mild, but I would do medium next time. The chicken was white meat, which was tender and yummy. I also got tofu, which was an added bonus. The veggies were delicious. I ate the whole thing. I didn't have a chance to take a photo of my friend's pineapple fried rice. She plowed into it, as she was hungry. It looked amazing. She loved it. I need to order some when I'm in the neighbourhood again. This Thai restaurant also offers Vietnamese food fare. I'd love to try some in future. We both paid using debit. The woman brings the machine to you. This eatery is in such an odd location, but it's definitely worth visiting if you're in Oakville. The service is quick and efficient. I had a great experience. So I came here right after my doctors appointment and decided to get a couple of entrees to try out.I opted to stick with the lunch menu.My order was a spicy Thai basil chicken and glass noodles with vegetables and chicken.Every lunch special comes with a soup or spring roll, I got one of each. The spring roll were absolutely divine much bigger and stuffed well compared to many other Thai restaurant. The hot and sour soup was pretty standard. I ate as much as I could and took the remaining home for dinner. My server was this middle aged gentleman, he was fast and kept checking on me.He also packed my leftovers which I thought was super nice. The place itself is very clean and definitely not that bad as it may look from outside.I highly recommend going here for lunch special and more. I do look forward to coming here again to try out some more dishes with my family.
