Popped into Noodle St. in Old Town Pasadena for an early lunch, and was thrilled to discover this small chain offering Asian fusion creations. It's a comfortable spot with padded banquettes or chairs at the tables, which feature chrome frames and (very good-looking) faux marble tops; along with white walls and light-colored wood accents, the owners have created a clean, simple, welcoming environment. The mood is jostled even further into a specific vibe of calmness with the carefully curated music being played: bossa nova covers of pop hits from bygone days (The Bee Gees' "More Than A Woman" and the Bee Gees'-written Streisand hit, "A Woman In Love" being examples), but it all works. The menu offers a varied selection of dishes from several Asian cultures, from Chinese Beef Rolls to Japanese noodles and soups to Korean Beef over rice. It's not a huge menu, but there's definitely enough there for everyone to find something interesting to eat. The food is all cooked in view of the customers by a staff of chefs working in a sparkling clean kitchen enclosed by windows, and the staff is uniformly friendly despite juggling a lunchtime crowd at the tables plus quite a lot of to-go orders. I tried 2 really enjoyable and satisfying dishes. Beef Rolls featured thinly sliced brisket rolled inside crispy fried crepes with scallion, cilantro and a touch of Hoisin sauce. The brisket had a mild but distinctive flavor that spoke of careful preparation, while the slightly astringent pop from the onions and herbs was a nice foil for the inherent fattiness of the fried crepes. The Hoisin sauce was very subtly deployed, lending tasty support without overwhelming everything else. I added some of the house chili oil for a little extra spice and peppery depth, but these well-made rolls were terrific all by themselves. It should also be noted that the portion is very generous, especially for the price ($12.80), and more than enough for 2 people (perhaps 4 people, if each has 1/2). My other dish was the Qinghai Clear Cold Noodle, a terrific-looking, and even better-tasting blend of thick, chewy noodles, fresh chopped garlic, veggies, tofu and chili sauce that's got a bit of heat but more so a pleasing depth of Chinese spices. This appetizer is packed with flavor and just happens to be Vegan (as are a number of menu items), so it can be enjoyed by anyone. All in all, this was a fantastic mid-week lunch that pleased the senses without breaking the bank, and I even brought some home for later. Do give this Noodle St. a try -- and if you're not in Pasadena, check their website, because they have 8 locations, with a 9th opening soon in Sherman Oaks.
As the name of this place would suggest, this restaurant has great noodles! I ordered the savory braised chicken noodle ($15.80) and scallion pancakes ($7.80). The noodles came with plenty of chicken, potatoes, onions, bell peppers, and of course, knife-cut, hand-pulled noodles. The dish had quite a kick. They went heavy on the Szechuan peppercorn, and my mouth was tingling during all of dinner! The chicken was tender, and the noodles were fresh and perfectly chewy. But in my opinion, there were just too many onions! I felt like I had to dig through onions to find the noodles. The scallion pancakes were delicious. They came out hot and perfectly crispy. The service was also great. The staff was friendly and kept my glass of water full.
Solid place that I would absolutely go to again and try something new. The place is bright, open, clean, and a decent size inside. Service is fairly quick (have to be to keep up with the amount of people coming in and out) and friendly enough. The food (outside of mine) was very tasty and had a decent selection size. Great flavor and very fresh. Mine (seasonal veggie) was very underwhelming. The taste, compared to everything else, was mid. It needed salt or some other seasonings. I ended up adding chili to it, which helped, but not much, which made me think salt was the missing factor. Not sure how that happened because the other soup, and my friends braised chicken noodles, tasted absolutely perfect. If anything, the other dishes were super bold with their flavors. I love that you can pick different handmade noodles. They were so good. A little chewy and cooked well.
My friends and I decided to try this place out after reading the wonderful reviews & seeing the pictures of their dishes. I was also craving soup so this was the perfect option! We ordered their chicken wings, garlic string beans, spicy beef noodle soup, scallion pancakes, & beef scallion roll. The food came out within 10 minutes of ordering, which I appreciated since I was starving. The soup was packed with so much flavor & had a generous amount of knife cut noodles. The beef rolls had a nice light flavor to it & wasn't dry at all. The garlic string beans were PACKED with garlic, which was delicious. The chicken wings were a bit dry but nonetheless still pretty good. My friends really liked their scallion pancakes & devoured them all. Overall, I would definitely come back if I was ever in the area again. It definitely satisfied my cravings for Chinese food.
The Beef Roll Pancake and Stir-Fried Noodles were both delicious. The beef roll pancake had a crispy, flaky exterior wrapped around beef, cilantro, green onions, and hoisin sauce. The stir-fried noodles had beef, onions, kale, bell peppers, and carrots.
Great quick service. It was a chilly day so we wanted something soupy. You get options from appetizers, noodle soup, and rice dishes. There's an option to choose what type of noodle you want: round, flat, triangle, or knife cut. No matter the type, the noodles were very fresh, you can even see them making it through the large clear room in the back. I ordered the signature beef noodle with triangle noodles. The soup needed a tad bit more seasoning but it was good, especially the noodles. Temperature was perfect. Great quick place to drop by if you're shopping in Pasadena. I would probably come back and try the other items in the menu.
Nice clean open space with authentic fresh food. Service is top notch and fast. Very friendly and accommodating for the party of 10 I went with. They even have TVs for sports games
Had a great experience at Noodle St Pasadena. The food and service were both really good, and I loved being able to see the cooks making the noodles fresh to order. The quality was solid, and everything came out hot. The chicken wings were great, the garlic green beans and cucumber salad were amazing, and the signature spicy ramen was really good too. It was a bit greasy, almost like birria, but the meat was tender and the broth tasted like it had been cooking for 48 hours deep, rich, and full of flavor. The only thing I wouldn't recommend is the Korean beef. It was way too sweet and didn't really give Korean BBQ flavor. The meat seemed more steamed than grilled, and not even vinegar or chili oil could save it for me. Other than that, everything else was fresh, flavorful, and worth coming back for.
We ordered the chicken noodle soup. It was ok. The triangle noodles were a little hard, soup was a little salty but it was fun to watch chefs make the noodles live in the window. The ambience and service were excellent. Very clean and pretty restaurant. Think I have to try a different kind of noodle.
Noodle St Meeting up with friends in LA and this was such a great spot in Pasadena. It's a cool experience because you can actually see the chef making the noodles right in the window while you're there. I went with the signature beef noodle soup (15.50) and chose the knife cut noodles. The bowl came with sliced beef, radishes, cilantro, and leeks. They were very generous with the amount of noodles they served, though I honestly wish there was a bit more meat included to balance it out. After a long day of walking around, we decided to warm up at Noodle St. Being able to check-in with Yelp was super helpful and gave us a good idea on wait time. Once we were seated, we were met with a friendly server who offered recommendations to our party depending on spice levels. I tried their beef fried rice and the portions were huge for the price! I had to get a braised egg and it made for such a great combo. I also tried their chili oil and loved how spicy it was. I wish there was a Noodle St. close to my city!
Noodle Street in Pasadena is hands down one of the best spots I've been to in a while! I ordered the black tea at 50% sweetness (perfect balance ) and the beef noodles -- honestly, the best I've ever had. Everything tasted super fresh, and you can literally see them making it fresh right in front of you. That alone lets you know it's legit. I also got the beef roll and it did NOT disappoint. Packed with flavor and made just right. On top of that, it's in such a beautiful part of the city. Pasadena is always a great place to walk around before or after you eat. Definitely a perfect first date spot lol. Great food, great vibe, great location. I'll for sure be back!

Yummmm! It's so nice to get authentic Chinese flavors so close to La! The beef roll pancakes are the best I've had and the clear broth beef noodle soup was so tasty! The noodles were silky and perfectly made. I'm definitely coming back to try all the other delicious items on their menu! A bowl of soup always sounds good to me and I wish I lived closer to this restaurant! Went during the weekend and there were a few people waiting outside but the wait wasn't that long. The restaurant inside was clean and cute. The server was really nice and I ordered the spicy beef noodle soup. The bowl was pretty big when it arrived and I could've easily shared it with another person. The broth was super tasty and the noodles went well with it. There was a good amount of meat and I got full halfway through the bowl haha I took a little break and ended up finishing the whole thing :) it was delicious and I'll definitely visit again to try their other soups! read more

Although I'm sad that some of my old favorites have been taken off the menu, I keep discovering new amazing dishes. In particular the wontons and scallion pancakes are fabulous together and I highly recommend using the spicy and sweet wonton sauce as a dip! read more
My husband and I came on a brisk autumn night after the rains and the soup hit the spot! I ordered the Signature Beef Noodle Soup (plain, not spicy) with flat noodles. While the soup was flavorful and the beef was thinly sliced, the noodles came in a big clump that made it hard to eat. Hubs ordered the Bone in Rib Rice Noodle Soup. His broth was a little less flavorful but I loved the tenderness of the beef on the rib. Again, the noodles were a bit less than ideal as some of the noodles were unevenly cooked and al dente. We also ordered the beef rolls which were delicious. Maybe they were just having an off night with the noodles? Overall, good, but I was a little surprised by the noodles from Noodle Street. Service was mostly good. We ordered quickly and the food came out fast. However, the waiter never came back to take our check. After a significant wait, my husband just walked it up to the counter to pay. That part was a bit strange as they didn't seem that busy. read more

Oh that was good. Nothing beats a hot bowl of beef noodle soup on a cold day! We were seated quickly on a Sunday lunch even when the place was packed. Weirdly I wasn't in the mood for noodles but decided to try Noodles St anyway. The cucumber salad was good, still crunchy and refreshing, paired well with everything. The lamb skewers were tasty, good spice but a little dry for my taste. The scallion pancakes were great, crisp and not greasy at all. The star was the beef roll, very balanced in flavor, not overly dressed with hoisin and the beef itself was top notch. One of the best beef rolls I've had in a while. 5 stars. read more

I normally dine at the Santa Anita mall location. It did not occur to me that they have more than one location. I was able to find street parking and stopped by for lunch. Great atmosphere. I wanted to try something different so I ordered Spring cold noodle and Chicken noodle/rice noodle soup. Depending on what you order, you can choose your noodles (standard round, flat, triangle or knife cut). I enjoyed the spice for the cold noodle. Not too spicy, just enough. My friend and I came here for dinner because the line at Boiling Point was insane. I ordered a spicy beef noodle soup with beef tendons. When my bowl arrived, I tried the soup, and it was actually quite spicy. I don't usually mind spicy food, but the soup itself was very strong. I went to try the beef but couldn't find any tendons. I reported this to the waiter, who also couldn't find any and took the bowl back. I watched as the chef took my bowl, removed some beef pieces, and added tendons. While I don't think there was anything wrong with that, I couldn't help but feel it was wasteful. Why remove the beef when it's just going to be thrown away? Couldn't they have simply brought me a small bowl with a few pieces of tendon instead? It seemed like they'd rather waste the beef than admit the mistake and make it right by adding the tendons. There wasn't much beef to begin with. Halfway through the meal, my stomach started to burn, and I didn't even finish the bowl. I ended up taking it home, planning to add water because the soup was just too strong. We also ordered the beef roll, and that wasn't bad. read more

Love, love, love Taiwanese Beef Noodle Soup!!! And this place did it SO WELL! I brought my partner here to try taiwanese beef noodle soup for the first time for dinner! We came around 8pm on a work night and were greeted by kind staff and seated immediately. Everything we got, my partner and I loved! It felt like comfort food after a long day of work. FOOD: -Beef Stuffed Pancake (so many scallions and so crispy!!) -Spicy Beef Noodle Soup with Knife Cut Noodles (the spiciness was great for my taste and the broth was so flavorful!! The food here is delicious. Beef roll pancake is so delicious. Beautiful snack. This is a nice casual lunch meal that is nicely light and filling too. Spicy beef noodles: The knife cut noodles have a nice soft texture paired with the beefy and slightly, slightly herbal soup. I would not characterize this as spicy at all but it is delicious and there is spice powder on the side if you want to kick it up a notch. read more

Some of the best service I've ever had in SGV! Super nice staff really elevated the experience. I like how you can also see into the kitchen making the noodles. I ordered the beef roll and the spicy beef noodle. Great meal for staring for 2 maybe even 3 people. Food match the service. Good quality and fresh ingredients. The beef was so tender. Great spot for some comfort food. The noodles and broth are seasoned well - it's great if you're a fan of cilantro, but the noodles were a little tough for me. This place was exceptional! Love that you can pick the size of the noodles and portions are incredibly generous - we had leftovers for the next meal. The service was friendly, respectful and responsive. Loved the spicy beef soup and noodles with shrimp. I highly recommend either! We ordered the crispy tofu that was almost overwhelmingly seasoned. We kept munching on the bites to decide whether or not we liked the flavor. It was incredibly well done but not sure if the spice coating was our favorite. I'm happy to report that my second visit topped the last. Yes, this place just gets so much better each time. They have the #1 customer service hands down. I tried 3 new dishes and ordered my favorite, Chicken stir fry noodles. The iced peach tea is a must try, it's fresh, and the sweetness helps balance the savory flavors from the dishes. The scallion pancake is delicious and has a nice crunch without the heavy oil after taste. This time I went before the 5pm dinner rush hour. We had the place almost to ourselves and saw the noodles being made through the glass window to the kitchen. The one dish I always come back for is the knife cut noodle stir fry with chicken. The chewiness of the knife cut noodles combined with the smokiness of the sauce makes this dish one of a kind. The signature beef soup with knife cut noodles is also a classic for a nice, clean broth. read more

Went to grab some soup with an friend, wanted to try something new. Honestly the soup was just okay, not my favorite, was kinda of bland flavor. I'd rather get ramen or pho instead. i've been to noodle st quite a few times now and it's become one of my go-to spots in pasadena. everything always hits! the knife-cut noodles are perfectly chewy with just the right texture and sauce, and you can watch them made fresh in the kitchen behind a glass wall. the beef pancake roll is another favorite - super crispy on the outside, packed with herbs, garlic and beef inside, and just so satisfying every time. the homemade wontons are also really good - if soft, silky, and full of flavor, especially with their chili oil. portions are generous, service is quick, and the food always comes out hot and fresh. definitely a place i keep coming back to whenever i'm craving great noodles. read more

Yes. They do use white sesame seeds in their chili oil condiment jar. The Veggie Noodle Soup does contain sesame oil, but it's removable. Also, the Korean Barbeque Beef with Rice does have white sesame seeds, but removable.
