Opened recently, the sign outside says Boss, Taste of Asia, while the receipts read Noodle Feast - A Taste of Northern China. I'm not sure of its name, but either way, it's a great place to eat. This little gem features dishes from northern China, so it's not your typical Chinese eatery in Edmonton. There is no sweet and sour pork, no lemon chicken, etc. China, like most places, has a wide variety of regional cuisine. In the south, like the area around Hong Kong, sweet tends to be more popular, as are rice dishes. In the north, where rice is difficult to grow, wheat noodles are more popular, and the flavours tend towards salty, not sweet. If you want handmade fresh noodles, then this is the place to go. They specialize in handmade noodles - if you come too late, you might be told that they are out of noodles and that you should come back in an hour or two after they have made some more! We had a a couple of great dishes here. The first was a bowl of shredded noodles in a beef broth that was rich and delicious. Unlike most watered down soups at other places, this one was flavourful and reminded me of a beef gravy because of its rich beef taste (though not in consistency - it was still a broth). The beef was also so tender that it just fell apart and melted in my mouth. The other main dish was a cold spicy salad that those familiar with Sichuan cooking will know - rice noodles, veggies and a spicy sauce that will knock your socks off. The heat starts off slow, but by the end, it's a raging inferno! Last but definitely not least was roujiamou (Chinese Pork burger on the menu), which is basically a Chinese hamburger. It's a small bun, similar to naan bread, stuffed with pork and flavoured with cilantro and other spices. I first had one in Chinatown in Toronto, then again in Xian, China. They can be messy, but are fantastic. This one wasn't quite as good as the ones I've had in China, but it was still very good. The bun was soft on the inside, toasted on the outside, and the pork was tender and flavourful. Frankly, I'm surprised more Chinese restaurants don't offer it. If you love Chinese cuisine, but aren't interested in sweet and sour pork or chicken balls, then try this place out. read more

A very busy little noodle house! I found it was definitely worth the wait. We tried the "rolling noodles with minced pork sauce" and the "rolling noodles with hot chilli oil and green onion". We substituted in spinach noodles for both. Both dishes were tasty and the portion size was ample (we probably could have just shared 1 noodle dish!). Their pork and chive dumplings were also delicious. Our food was served quickly and the service was adequate. I will return to try some of their other dishes. Ive been here multiple times and at different times during the day. If you go at supper, you will definitely need to go either before 530 or after 730ish unless you want to wait (sometimes the wait time can be over an hour). If you go at lunch, you will have no problems getting seated right away. Another thing to note is that the service is very slow and when it gets busy they are very disorganized. If you want service, you usually have to track a waitress down while they are waking by. Additionally, the some of the staff speak english and some of them don't - and the ones that do, have a hard time explaining things in detail. Even though the service is not great, the food fully makes up for it. Trust me. The noodles are authentic and springy, and the sauces/broths are flavorful and rich! Try the sliced noodles with egg, tomato, pork, and hot chili oil (the option with the longest name, #113 i believe). Also, for a good noodle soup alternative, try #101!!! read more

I heard about this restaurant having "la mian" and got there a few minutes before it opened and still missed the first wave of seated customers. There was a long line up outside the door that I could see as I pulled up to the parking lot. If you want to go at opening time, GO EARLY! Half an hour later, got seated and had time to look at their one page menu - simple and all noodle based. I was looking for "la mian" pulled noodles from Lanzhou (province in China). What they actually serve is "che mian" from Shaanxi Province which is really different. "la mian" is quite thin and round when pulled. "che mian" is very broad and flat. Both "la" and "che" translate as "pulled" though, so I was thrown off by the English. The noodles are made fresh and are tasty - had the beef noodle soup (which I loved eating in China). Standard fare - simple authentic broth with some meat and veggies - the main experience is always the noodles. Also ordered some dumplings (jiao zi) - they are hand made and taste home made. Very nice! Had a chance to speak with one of the servers at the restaurant and will definitely be back to try the rolled noodles (shou gan mian). The prices are a bit on the high side when compared to most noodle shops, but the quality and quantity you get is decent - I could only eat one full bowl and half a plate of dumplings. We spent about $25 each after tip. My quest for Lanzhou lamian continues in Edmonton. Worth trying and worth re-visiting - just make sure you go EARLY! read more

Absolutely delicious!! As soon as I walked in I could smell the heaviness of spices in the air. We ordered a bowl of cut noodles #113, and an order of chive dumplings. The noodles came first and it was a generous size. The dumplings arrived in a dark broth which looked frightening spicy hot, but was milder than it looked. The flavours were amazing! Never before has a restaurant lived up to its name so accurately. I have been several times, and each time I am awed by the volume of noodles presented to me. You will eat until you are full. You will eat until you feel sick. And you will keep eating, because the food is delicious. Do yourself a service and eat at this restaurant. Update on this place. I went for the second time ,this time i ended up there at noon . Most restaurants open at 11 or even 10;30 but they open at 12 so that there was the whole lunch crowd waiting outside the door by the time they opened and everyone was seated and ordered at once. This one of a few places to get handpulled noodles in the city. It is one of their specialties and definitely is a must! They make all their noodles in house and it is just the right chewy consistency. I would recommend getting anything with the chili oil, otherwise flavour ends up being a bit bland. Aside from the hand pulled noodles with chili oil, I also love the spinach noodles with egg and tomatos and the curry fried sliced noodles are also a win. They can be a bit spicy, so if someone in your party can't handle spicy, you can opt for a sans chili oil option or a pork or beef bone broth soup! Most dishes are customizable. It does get super busy here on weekends, so plan to get there early and be prepared to wait as they obly have a limited number of tables. I have come here at opening before and had to make a mad dash to hop in line so I didn't get stuck waiting 30-45 minutes for a table! Noodle Feast is in a strip mall, so there is always plenty of parking. I also find that sometimes Sunday nights can be hit or miss. Often times a lot of their more popular noodles begin to sell out by Sunday dinner service, so it is better to stop in a week night, Saturday, or Sunday lunch to ensure the noodle you want is still available! read more

After we walked out of Ipho due to poor customer service, we went next door to Noodle Feast where the customer service was good. Our servers- only two of them- were pleasant and quick. It was our first time there so we weren't sure what to expect, except noodles. After looking around at everyone else's food- the serving sizes were huge-we decided to share a bowl of noodles and get pork and chive dumplings. The soup we ordered had beef and beef bone broth. I'll be honest, I love soups but I'm not a noodle person. The noodles were pretty good but there was way too much noodle and very little meat. The pork and chive dumplings however were the bomb. It was a good experience but noodles aren't really my thing. Noodle Feast was packed so it is a very popular place for noodle lovers and I'd recommend it. read more

Came here because I was craving noodles and wanted to try something new. Gave 2 stars partially because of personal preference and partially because of service As someone who can't eat very much, I prefer glass or rice noodles to doughy type noodles. Unfortunately this place only has very thick doughy noodles. They are apparently hand pulled and I was hoping there'd be some thinner noodles but they're all quite thick. They do however give a very large portion of noodles. I got the beef broth and my bf got the pork broth. The soup for the beef noodles was delicious but we found the soup for the pork broth to be flavourless and lacking We were seated quickly since we came for a late lunch at around 2pm but after that service was ok. The waitresses were on their phones the whole time which I get cuz it's slow mid afternoon but they did it in full view of all the patrons, they never asked how the food was and it took a while to get their attention for anything we needed. I dream about noodle feast noodles. This place is my absolute favourite place to go if I'm craving comfort food! There are three main types of noodles, the hand pulled ones are by far my favourite- just the right balance of soft and chewy and always just perfectly cooked. I always get the hand pulled noodles with the pork, egg, tomato and chilli oil and it is consistently delicious! I also really love their pork and chive dumplings both on their own and in the hot and sour soup. Last time I was there with a group and we tried a number of dishes including the curry fried sliced noodle with beef (excellent), the pickled cabbage fried rice with beef (loved it) and the Chinese pork burger (my least favourite of the bunch) in addition to the hand pulled noodles and dumplings. The lineup can be a little long here as it is a very popular spot, and the decor and ambiance is pretty bare bones/ functional but I don't mind that when the food is this good!! I went here for lunch today and was finally successful. I've tried to come here a few times unsuccessfully due to how busy it can get here. I ordered #207 on the menu which was the beef noodle soup. The noodle soup that I got was tasty and delicious. This is an authentic Chinese noodle house and I am so happy that we finally have one here in Edmonton. Their noodles are hand pulled and made from scratch. The broth in my beef noodle soup was very comforting and sweet tasting. I loved how soft and delicious my noodles were. The chunks of meat that I got in my noodle soup were also super tender and well flavoured. Overall, I would have to say that I am definitely going to come back to try the stir fried noodles that they have here. I came here around 1 p.m. and was able to get a table, however all the other times when I did come here around 12 p.m. noon I have been unsuccessful. I would say to make sure you come early or after the lunch or dinner rush. They also have at each table there in house home made chilli oil sauce which was pretty delicious. I've come several times and find the food really delicious actually but I will not be returning anymore. When you enter the staff do not acknowledge you (try their hardest to avoid eye contact) and there is no list to add your name to. People sit in the back and wait to be seated. Almost every time we have people jump ahead of us and are seated first despite us pointing out the fact that we were there first. At best the staff is negligent and confused about who came first, but it seems more likely that they simply do not care. They also tend to be quite rude. There are amazing restaurants around Edmonton and we will choose to go elsewhere from now on. read more

While the food at Noodle Feast is good, it is 40% more expensive than it should be. I tried the Chinese pork burger -- something another reviewer calls roujiamou -- and it left me feeling underwhelmed. There was nothing wrong with it, but the portion is far from being large and at $6.95, it is expensive for what is, in essence, a pulled pork sandwich without any discernible spicing or any distinct flavour. I guess that I would call it minimalist. The noodles I ordered were $10.95 and while they were cooked well and of good quality, the other ingredients for my chosen dish were very sparse. This dish is also expensive for what it is. Happy to have finally made it here, I do not foresee a return trip any time soon. read more

Surprised to see criticism of the prices on here - I found the portions large, and most dishes were $8-$12 for a whole lot of insanely delicious food. Totally a good value place. The noodles were delicious, all the flavours were spot-on. Glad to have found this place, it's a new favourite! Only complaint would be that the service was virtually non-existent. There was a wait but the food was so good that we didn't mind. It was so good that we took a menu so as to mark the items eaten, with the plan to eat our way through the menu. It is that good! The pork bun was a miss with $7.50 for one small, bland, bun, but all else was delicious. Ordering was a bit of a crapshoot as there's not much in the way of description, but what we ordered was exactly what we were looking for. Very authentic , handmade noodle-y goodness! Never have had a bad meal here. Portion sizes are huge, our favorites are the steamed cold noodles, hand pulled noodles with hot chili oil and green onion, and the rolled noodles with beef in beef bone soup. You may have to wait for a table but once you're seated service is pretty quick. Usually by dinner they are sold out of the hand pulled noodles and you can have the rolling or sliced noodles which are really good too!
