Oh man, we're pretty spoiled coming from Seattle where we have an abundance of teriyaki places with huge portions and not stingy on the protein. The portion sizes is unbelievable here: 9:1 rice and slaw to chicken (or whatever protein). Even getting double meat doesn't even come close to the portions we are used to. We keep coming back for the flavor and the sauces are addicting, but we didn't have a great experience last time and probably won't return. The rice was undercooked and clumpy. How do you ruin rice? Met friends for lunch at Noodle Express. Had low expectations after reading so many negative reviews. Well, I believe management is listening & definitely taking steps to improve service. New cashier was being trained when I ordered & both greeted customers with a smile. The option to add a tip popped up when I went to pay, however, I did not tip since I had just ordered and had not received any service as yet to warrant a tip. I ordered a small Sweet Thai Chili shrimp rice bowl with no slaw. When they call your number, you have to go pick up your order at the counter. No table service, no tip. I was impressed with the appearance of a very decent amount of shrimp over a perfect portion of rice. The chef also acknowledged me & asked if there was anything else he could do for me! The food was really good! Not enough sauce to help flavor the rice, so, I added sriracha & 2 packets of soy sauce, which was perfect! As we were finishing up, one of the employees came out to the dining area and was cleaning & taking people's trays to the garbage. We witnessed this with a couple of times. They were very friendly & polite. All employees had great attitudes too. I usually order & pick up from the drive thru. Been over a year because, while there wasn't any issues with service, the food was subpar for the price. Today was a very positive experience and it was during the lunch rush as well. This is the second time is as many weeks that this Noodles Express has gotten the order wrong. I specifically ask for all rice with a tiny amount of slaw (i.e. 10/90 slaw and rice)...I received the below...over half the bowl is slaw. Ruins the meal -- and the worst part is you get home before you know it's wrong. It's a shame, used to love this spot...now protein portions are down and prices are up. Great visit tonight at Noodle Express on North Division. The restaurant was clean, even the bathrooms. I really do not like bathrooms with nothing but cold water though. Especially when the restaurant was on the cold side. It also makes me wonder how well the staff are able to clean their hands. But, the food was really great and I will definitely go again. My friend and I ordered shrimp dishes. Both with double shrimp. I honestly wasn't sure what I was ordering...next time I will be better prepared. For instance, regular size is perfectly fine. I chose a large and have PLENTY of leftovers. My friend ordered the regular sized Shrimp Osaka, no rice. Grilled veggies. Double shrimp, and a little extra sauce. It's her favorite dish and the grilled veggies were terrific. I went with the Singapore shrimp (also double shrimp), no rice, added broccoli. I thought it would be broccoli instead of grilled veggies...I was wrong. Live and learn. My bowl was grilled veggies, Asian slaw, and cold (once warm) broccoli with double shrimp. I ended up with so much leftover. I definitely didn't need a large. The flavor was great. I think I need to visit a few more times, to ensure I can get my order and expectations to align. Tonight was a real disappointment. We've been going here (north Spokane) for over 20 years. Tonight the food was acceptable, taste wise, but not what we used to get. In the last year we've noticed a considerable change in the portions we're served. I typically get a Chicken Osaka rice bowl. I used to get a good portion of chicken with slaw and rice. Tonight, the amount of chicken was probably 30% of the amount I've gotten in the past. Plus, the amount of slaw was about 25% of normal. Tonight, my order was mostly.... just rice. We do love getting food here love the chicken Osaka and have tried the tofu as well. Both delicious and good quality food we have been getting the family platters with Covid. I always ask for extra Asian slaw and a quart of the grilled vegetables with added broccoli so delicious everything is always fresh the sauces are great. Unfortunately this time my son had a bad experience eating a spring roll now he keeps telling me he's never going to eat one because there is a large piece of plastic in his it was actually really sharp. Really really yummy tofu osaka! Same quality as Mustard Seed at the Northtown Mall. If you ever feel like asian food this place is pretty good. Last time we went they didn't have green beans and they also don't give out chop sticks anymore so you gotta bring your own :s I usually get the tofu osaka with extra tofu and brown rice but last time I tried the singapore rice bowl with tofu and it was actually really good I would buy again. The family pans you can order to go are huuuge, very ideal if you don't have to cook for an occasion or just have alot of mouths to feed. Not a glamorous sit down restaurant, but to get basically the same flavors with a more limited menu than mustard seed I love it. I always get the chicken Osaka with extra Osaka sauce. If you truly love spicy food they have a special hot sauce they can put on your food that's very flavorful. I had to spend some time to convince them I could handle it before they added it while cooking my chicken. I've been coming here for years, never had any issues. The last time I went, I ordered 2 Mac n cheese. I waited till they said it was time to pick up and pulled up to the drive thru. I waited a little longer than normal, I'm not sure why since no-one was in the lobby. So after waiting, we get our mac, I pull around to the parking lot to eat and the Mac n cheese is cold. Not just one, but both! I called them and they said it probably sat out too long and I could take it home and microwave it. If I wanted something cold I have to heat up, I would've went to the store. I don't live in Spokane, so I usually get something to eat when I come into town. I wrote them an email which at first they ignored, then after tagging them on FB with a bad review they said they would get a hold of me, which still has not happened. Both were very bland, and like others have mentioned the rice ratio is 75% and the little minced chicken is 25% of the bowls. There were zero veggies, both were strictly plain rice and chicken. I have to revise my review based on my last 5 experiences at this store. Since reopening, the quality of service and product is considerably worse than it previously was. Orders take about 3 times as long to be filled than they did before the shutdown. Food quality is inconsistent at best. It seems there has a complete turnover of staff since reopening, which likely is to blame for the issues. However, it's been long enough that they should have been able to work out the kinks. Maybe it's time to call up the old staff and ask them to return to their old jobs. I NEVER had an issue there before this March. read more

This is a great spot to eat. It's a little pricey but the food is worth it. The portions are a good size. My go to is the Singapore chicken half noodles half rice extra slaw. The slaw mix is where it's at!!! The menu has lots of choices. With all this said, the slaw was bitter today and we brought it to the manager's attention and he took care of us. I had to wait over 15minutes and watch several, if not all, order placed after mine get served. Super irritating! It's one thing if there is a hold up that effects everyone but to have my order placed as a low priority over dine in order is not right. Won't be back. read more

We love Noodle Express. So much that we decided to serve it for Christmas Eve. With a crowd of 24 to feed, we bought 4 trays of rice/meat, and slaw. The trays were stuffed full with rice but had hardly any meat. Very disappointing for sure. The flavors were all great, just not enough meat. I wouldn't recommend this for feeding a crowd. read more

I really like this place. I work really close by so I tend to eat here once to twice a month, at least. The food does usually take 10-15 minutes, but it's worth it! I love that you can order "small" sizes of the bowls. I personally love the Sweet Thai chicken bowls. Their slaw is amazing, don't skip it! If you aren't sure about it, order it on the side.
