Lindsay K. loves Nonno Alby's and decided this was a great place to take me to lunch while visiting the Reading area. Boy was she right! First off, they are a BYOB establishment. They charge a $3 corking fee which did not bother me one bit; that's a steal in my book. Our server was very attentive and was able to answer all of my questions about the menu and offered some great suggestions. Lindsay K. and I shared a few things and my favorites were the Capresa with Buffalo Mozzarella ($12) and the Nonno Alby's Pizza ($12). Who would have thought out-of -season tomatoes could taste so good? The buffalo mozzarella was plentiful and delicious. Everything was served over warm focaccia, which was a great compliment to the tomatoes and mozzarella. The pizza had San Marzano tomatoes, buffalo mozzarella, fresh Italian sausage, sautéed rapini, garlic, and hot pepper flakes. I couldn't have asked for a better pizza. The toppings went so well together. If you're looking for something a little more complex than a margherita pizza, the Nonno Alby's is the way to go. I had a few bites of a cannoli ($1.25) and it was the best one I've ever had. Be sure to get one for dessert! read more

Last Tuesday, my wife and I stopped in for a slice or two of pizza and a bowl of soup, respectively. Unfortunately, I found out they don't offer pizza by the slice, only whole pizzas so that was out, consequently one star deducted. Instead I ordered a cheeseburger, plain, which came with fries. My wife ordered chicken noodle soup and coffee. The burger was fine, ditto the fries, I just could not finish everything. The homemade soup, one size only, was very good with plenty of chicken and broad noodles. The service was excellent. read more

A true west reading staple, fantastic short menu, excellent pizzas, burgers, paninis, wings, and more. My personal favorite is the Bianca, my wife likes the more simple margarita. Never once have we had a mediocre experience, it's always on point. read more

Simply put, their pizza is really, really good. Lots of options and I really like the size. The rest of the menu is solid too. Hard to make a bad choice no matter what you choose. Service is always friendly and prompt. Highly recommended. read more

I was excited by this place since there seem to have been people from philly and nyc who gave it praise. Alas, I'm convinced everyone who rated this place highly has no taste buds. I tried two of the highly rated pizzas here: the margherita and the tartufata. The sauce for the marg is so bland, it honestly tastes like they just poured store bought red sauce over the pizza. Probably two basil leaves MAX were used to sprinkle on the pizza, which made it taste very sad and lacked the freshness. The tartufata was ok but also lacking in truffle flavor. Currently available for takeout. 12/18/20. I ordered the Diavolo pizza, Quattro formaggi, and BBQ wings. The wings are so tender and fall off the bone. The BBQ sauce is sweet with a little tang. Made a quick stop here for takeout. I've passed it a million times as I frequent their neighbors at Fleet Feet. Pick up was quick, easy and friendly. Pizzas are fantastic here and come highly recommended, but the wings are the star of the show. Stopped by while traveling for work because of the high reviews. Employees were very personable and nice to talk to while I waited for my take out. The price is fair for personal size fresh mozzarella and basil brick oven pizzas. Sauce is delicious. The oven is gorgeous and apparently carried over from Italy. My side salad had tons if crunchy bits was fresh nicely sized. I will definitely go back when I'm in town. read more

Delicious pizza! Delicious meatballs! Delicious beer! I visited on a Wednesday night around 7:30. Not packed, but a good amount of people. Service was great, very friendly. I had the 4 cheese pizza. It was baked perfectly. The cheeses were tasty and the crust was crunchy and had just the right amount of char spots, as it should, having been baked in a brick oven. And let's not forget the crunchy bubbles in the crust.. my favorite part! Pizza here is not cheap, but you get what you pay for. Tasty ingredients and fresh made. I had the meatballs for an appetizer. Delicious! Atmosphere was nice and darkish. This is not a typical Berks County pizza place with fluorescent light bulbs and a dirty floor. This is a place where you want to come in and sit down and enjoy a pizza baked and served immediately. Came for the first time tonight with my husband and had a really tasty evening! I'm a salad person, so I wanted a little salad before pizza and wasn't too psyched about the typical cranberry and pecan thing, but arugula and endive are so tasty, so I made a tweak and got tomatoes and roasted artichokes on it. Great choice. Dressing was delicious too. We had the Primavera pizza and another that I can't recall the name of, but both definitely brought Nonno Alby's pizza to the #1 position in my "Best Pizza in the Area" line-up. Thin crust and a lovely dough with great flavor from the wood oven. Sauce wasn't too heavy or salty and all of the toppings were high quality. Just a great pizza all around. We will definitely be ordering take out here the next time we want pizza and we will definitely be back again to sit down. Our waitress was super friendly and a pleasure to talk to. I've been dying to try this place for a few months now and finally got the chance. First off as many reviewers stated it is BYOB which is great! Started out with a Caprice a salad homemade buffalo mozzarella on focaccia bread it was amazing!!! We each got pizzas and shared slices of each different kind. The sauce was great and the sun dried olives were a surprisingly new excellent addition to pizza. Fantastic! We blindly stumbled upon this place after finding out that Chatty Monk's was packed -- and we are beyond glad we did. This was much more than I expecting it to be. The staff and chefs here take pride in what they do, which shows in exceptional service and food preparation. As eccentric as the pizza menu was, the burgers seemed a bit more adventurous. A burger made out of buffalo meat?! Nonno, you had me intrigued and I must say the restaurant delivered with a delicious burger that was fresh on all accords and professionally done. The fresh-cut fries make a difference as the mound of fries was fantastic as well. All in all, this may be the best burger and fries I've ever had... It's at least in the top 3! Every time I have a day off, I know exactly where I'm going for lunch, this place has quickly become my favorite pizza restaurant. The staff is friendly, the food is delicious and it just has a cozy environment. I've tried to make it a point for myself to try out the many different restaurants in West Reading, but I keep getting distracted, as I just keep wanting to go back to Nonno Alby's. For anyone that's a fan of spice, I absolutely recommend the Diavola, I order it every time and I can't stay away from it. read more
