So this was my family's first time dining in and we LOVED it! We ordered takeout twice over the pandemic, which was also amazing! We stopped here Sunday after a hike. We were greeted by the friendly staff and chose to sit closer to the bar so the kids could see the pizza oven. Our server was awesome! She was incredibly nice and very attentive to our needs. It was great that she brought our food in rounds (tables aren't huge but we also ordered a lot of food). She went above and beyond to please the kids. We ordered the truffle fries - so good! The sauce on the side is a great addition. We ordered the oil & garlic wings. They were cooked perfectly and LOVED the amount of garlic they threw on there. The Nonno Alby's pizza was SO GOOD! It was a perfect combination of ingredients. The only thing I would suggest is the crust be a bit more done. It was slightly mushy in some spots. The kids loved their pizza and requested we come back soon. Awesome food, great service and excellent prices. We will definitely be back to try some other things on the menu. read more

Stopped here for lunch with my daughter. We asked if there were any gluten free options for my daughter. The waitress said yes, and gladly told us all of her options. Of all the places we've tried on Penn Avenue, Nonno Alby's rises to the top---especially now that Delish and their fantastic Cuban sandwich are long gone :( When we arrived for an early dinner on a Saturday night (around 5 p.m.), there were a few customers already seated. We were greeted by our friendly server and taken to a table. Our server took our drink orders. I had a soda while my husband got a Yuengling. The pizzas only come in individual size and are baked in a wood-fired oven. While they have some types of pizza on the menu, it is possible to customize your own. Our server said that if you want to customize, start with the Margherita pizza then add the toppings. My husband got a Diavola pizza which has "fresh hot sausage" and "hot peppers", and our server said was her favorite. I got a Margherita pizza and added capers and sun dried tomatoes. I figured that the pizzas would be plenty of food but my husband really wanted a capresa salad. So...we ordered one. Then we waited...as the kitchen was on the slow side. I understand that the pizzas are made from scratch but wondered what took so long to get the capresa salad. When it came, I found out why. It consists of: "tomatoes, soft buffalo mozzarella cheese served over a warm focaccia, drizzled with extra virgin olive oil, fresh basil". Apparently, the warm focaccia is made fresh. Just as I feared, the capresa salad was huge! The slices of mozzarella were the thickest slices I've ever seen on a capresa! It was a nice, creamy cheese and the tomatoes and basil were in good proportion plus the olive oil was good quality. The focaccia had wonderful garlic flavor. We did enjoy it but it was way too much food for 2 people. My husband really liked his diavola pizza and said it was spicy. The spice from the sausage was plenty enough spice so he removed the hot peppers. While I liked my pizza, I was disappointed that they were stingy with the capers. Plus the sun dried tomatoes were on the bitter side. If I were to order a pizza here again, I would just stick to the basic Margherita. If you go here, I suggest not going if you don't have the time to wait for your food as the kitchen is slow. Otherwise, be prepared for a wait as it is worth it! read more

This place rocks! You can come here for pretty much any occasion. Date nights, family gatherings, special occasions, casual weekday lunch, just-got-out-of-a-bad-breakup-and-need-to-eat-away-your-sorrows, you name it. Pizzas are "personal" size, but unless you are an NFL lineman, you probably won't be able to scarf the whole thing down in one sitting. I think, ideally, you should order one and split it with between yourself and your special someone (in my case, my dog). But leftover cold pizza is one of life's greatest gifts, so there's always that option in the event you eat normal-sized portions for humans. ACTUALLY, I'm pretty sure I could eat a whole pizza here, but during my last visit, I filled up on appetizers. Are there really people out there who can just sit down and wait for their entrees and NOT get apps? The grilled eggplant starter is ooey gooey heaven on a dish. Grilled fresh eggplant, creamy ricotta, fresh herbs, provolone, and plum tomato sauce finished in the wood-fire oven - simply fantastic! It comes out looking like a giant flattened slug on a plate, but looks aside, it's an amazing dish. Chicken wings here are par for the course. Average size, average seasoning, average crispiness - obviously they're not a focal point here. But wing aficionados should be wary. As for the pizza - the pizza de résistance - is the star attraction (I'm the worst with puns. Please don't murder me). Brick ovens offer not only rapid cooking times, but fluffier crust, crispier toppings, and that subtle hint of smokey flavor. That cooking process, mixed with fresh ingredients, is a recipe for success *wink* Moreover, what sets this place apart from other local pizzerias is the fact that it's a sit-down restaurant. While you can still order a pizza to-go, those wanting a more formal dining experience can call for reservations, get a table, and have a server more akin to traditional dining experiences. In fact, the dining room is quite impressive in size, and can seat far more than one would imagine just by looking at the place from outside. And no, it's not cramped. In addition to the numerous tables, there are rows of booths as well. When you have a craving and don't want to settle for the commercial chain pies in town, give this place a go. They don't have the "supreme Papa's deluxe 1,000 meats carnivore triple decker special", but they do have delicious, authentic brick oven pizza. read more

This place is a staple on Penn Ave. they have a cool, real brick oven and their individual size pizzas are bomb. I usually get a Tartufata or Diavolo. They DO NOT travel well so I recommend heating up a delivery pizza or going on person. I would describe this place as an somewhat upscale/modern Italian place. Mostly pizza but you can get burgers and pasta too. Their Nonno Wings are really good too. They may be the best wings in the area and come in many styles beside Buffalo. I don't drink but they also have a pretty good beer/wine selection for this type of place. read more

I have been coming to this establishment since it's opening a few years ago. One of the best places to get a great pizza, hot and fresh made in the oven. They have a good selection of burgers and appetizers as well! I'm always pleased by the friendly service and staff members. Moss and his team at Nonno's are top notch. The pizza is always made with fresh ingredients and is the best in the area (if you're looking for wood fired). The Nonno Wings are baked in the oven, so they get a nice smoked char. Outdoor seating is underneath big heaters during COVID, so they're super comfy in these crisp fall nights. read more

Every time we've been here the staff has been awesome, very friendly and personable. The food each time was consistently really good, classic cheese burger with bacon was kinda perfect. The grilled chicken salad was huge, full grilled chicken breast, tons of toppings. The salad wasn't an afterthought that sometimes happens, it was carefully thought out. Who goes to a pizza joint and doesn't order pizza...? Me, for the first time ever. I walked in and smelled burger and the next thing I know I'm sitting there with a Hot and Spicy Burger in front of my face. A wonderful combo of flavors and textures with soft goat cheese and crispy onion rings on a perfectly cooked (charred on the outside, medium rare inside and juice running down my face) burger. I'm not usually a fan of hand cut fries which came with it but these were done properly. The service was super friendly and the price was on point for the area. I've been coming to Nonno Alby's about once a week for the last 3 months while I'm in town for business during the week. Wonderful friendly hometown atmosphere. I've tried multiple pizzas, the Caesar salad, and several burgers and they are are equally delicious. Tuesdays are burger night and it's an amazing deal of a make your own burger with fries or salad for about $13. The wait staff are all great, but Miranda is a true gem-always friendly and attentive with a great customer service attitude. read more

Have returned many times and we still love Nonno's as much as ever (!!!) however we've noticed a trend that we feel needs mentioning....short-pours of beer are becoming a fairly frequent occurrence. The Regina pizza is my personal favorite. I have a gluten sensitivity and usually would feel absolutely awful after eating pizza. I don't know why, but I don't get sick from pizza like I do at other places. I like their wedge salad. Fresh and good dressing. Eggplant was also good. Wasn't a big fan of the bison burger- a little tough for me, but no points deducted bc I think bison is a leaner meat and perhaps challenging to get soft. read more

Nonna Alby's is owned and operated by a true blooded Italian family. Best bang for your buck when it comes to brick oven pizza. Even some of my Italian NY friends were impressed...and we know those New Yorkers are tough cookies! The pizzas are personal - like California Pizza Kitchen personal size if you will. Great for sharing if you eat like a bird but it is so tasty you won't resist that warm, crispy crust that you may want to be a glutton for punishment (no pun intended!)
