I got the mini bandeja paisa, my wife got some chicken cutlet with plantains and my baby girl got the cheeseburger with fries. They had 2 different sauces; one's some mayo type sauce and the other, their home made jalapeno sauce. That jalapeno sauce was some of the best sauces, period, that I've ever had - it had a nice kick, but not too spicy, a hint of sweetness, but more tangy and flavorful... So good that we bought their big bottle ($15). 2 days later and we are halfway done. :( My baby girl was making a huge mess with her PEZ candy and they were dropping all over, but the lady who took care of us, was extremely patient and understood our frustration. She was graceful towards us! Everywhere I look, and I don't mean to offend anyone but, too many "American" restaurants that serve the same or very similar dishes and there isn't much around that offers distinctive cuisine, but this place is different and I was glad that we ended going there, especially after going to a very disappointing restaurant the night before. If y'all read this, go check this place out and make sure to try out their jalapeno sauce!

We had never been there before and we wanted to try their Colombian cuisine. We were greeted by one of the owners as we entered. We found out that it is a family owned business. We knew that they had not received their liquor license and brought a bottle of wine. We are amazed by the number of choices on the menu. I had the red snapper meal. Normally it is fried. I asked if it could be steamed and the owner said, "Of course". My wife ordered the country platter which comes in three sizes. She ordered the small one and was stuffed. I took some of my meal home. Later the other owner came to the table to visit. Both the husband and wife are so friendly. We will continue to patronize Los Arrieros Restaurant! Next time we go for lunch. Very affordable!!!

The place is beautifully decorated, and the servers are kind, but the food does not meet the expectations you would have, especially if you are familiar with authentic Colombian food. We ordered empanadas as an appetizer, and they arrived cold, as if they had been made the day before. On top of that, the ají is not the traditional Colombian kind, so the experience was disappointing from the start. The ajiaco, which should be one of the most representative dishes, tasted more like a bland potato soup with no chicken flavor and nothing memorable about it. They do not even serve it with cream, which makes it feel even less authentic and less flavorful. You can also feel a change in the atmosphere when the manager or owner arrives. The treatment toward Hispanic customers feels somewhat dismissive, while it seems different with Americans. For example, a group of Americans picked up their plates and she told them they did not have to do that, but when I did the same, that courtesy was forgotten. Overall, it is a visually pleasant place and the waitresses provide good service, but for someone from Colombia, the food does not live up to many expectations.

Time to pull a quick 180. My last review praised this little Latin American/Caribbean joint because…read moreit was bold enough to say our town was over inundated by taco jawns. Also colloquially known as taquerías. And now I find myself just LOVING the P. Rosel for its tacos. Yes, we have a million kajillion taco shops in like a three mile radius. But they are all so freakin' good! I don't think having a million places that can dish out a top notch taco is necessarily a bad thing. I guess it gets kinda boring and redundant after awhile, but when you're craving a taco, it ends up being a blessing. Now, I know these tacos are authentic, because they are served with stuff that I would never expect to be served with a taco. Like, a side of cucumber slices? And sliced radishes? Also, we have legit Mexican cheese here. Queso fresco. No pepper Jack here. I think that's what most Americans put on their homemade tacos. Some sort of cheddar. Pepper Jack if they're feisty. That's about as exotic as they go when it comes to cheese. Ok, ok, they sometimes use feta. "Oh hey, I made a Greek salad! It's a mix of Romaine lettuce and fried chicken, croutons, and FETA CHEESE! TOTALLY GREEK!" In addition to a little taco sampler, I had snag some fajitas. Chicken was on the dry side, but I liked that they gave me a nice side of lettuce and pico de gallo. No sour cream, unfortunately. I'm serious about this - if you can find a Mexican place that serves a complimentary side of sour cream with fajitas or basically any entree, CHERISH THEM. Sour cream, as we we all know, as gone the way of guacamole. It's now a "premium" side that will cost you sometimes $1 or more. I'm pretty sure 10 years ago, restaurants were GIVING out sour cream because that shit sits in those commercial fridges so long, they NEED to give it away before it goes bad. But now we have to spend that stimulus money on those upsells that were once not a privilege, but a right. The last dish I got was the Molcajete Ranchero. I thought I knew what "Ranchero" meant until this stage in my life. It apparently doesn't have anything to do with ranch dressing. This is one of their specialty dishes. Or maybe they just have amazing SEO. But when I Googled "Molcajete Ranchero," Paraiso Rosel was the first hit. Sadly, I think they screwed up my order. On their website, the description says it's grilled nopal with a bunch of other stuff. What is nopal, you ask? Well, it's cactus leaves, duh. I feel like the cactus leaves would have added a whole other dimension. HAHAH, who am I kidding. I'm just complaining about the lack of something that I probably wouldn't have liked anyway. I'm complaining that something wasn't there, but if it was there, I'd complain about it because I would have thought the texture was "icky' or something. Now I know why restaurant owners pull their hair out when they read these reviews. Alright, so my final take. Would I order from here again? I mean, probably? As mentioned before, we just have so many really great Mexican restaurants. And for real for real, I want to try them all. So it takes a helluva lot for me to re-order from a place when in the back of my mind I want to try a new place. Like, my time on this earth is limited, you know? I have high blood pressure. I drink too much. There's people still walking around without masks. I could croak any minute. Now listen, if I lived within walking distance of this place, I'd go three times per week, easy. But a man's gotta live. I may never be back, but this was a meal I'll never forget (even if I never got to experience grilled cactus leaves).

I did a quick DoorDash search and came across this place. I've been wanting to try birria tacos after the recent surge in popularity (thanks, TikTok), so this seemed like a great opportunity to do so. I ordered the birria tacos with a side of rice. The delivery came super quickly and the food was still piping hot when it arrived. And my life was quickly changed. These tacos are INSANE. A super crispy corn tortilla filled with the most flavorful beef I have ever had. It's a complex flavor profile - sort of spicy, sort of sour, savory, salty, bright, DELICIOUS. And when you dip it in the consommé, which is provided complimentary on the side? Nirvana. I was absolutely stuffed, but I couldn't stop eating until I had totally cleaned my plate. The rice was also fluffy and tasty. I have tried to make my own birria tacos since this, but just can't replicate it. I'll definitely be eating here again as soon as I'm back in town.

The restaurant was practically empty when we went in, and when the waitress came over to take our order, I asked her what she recommended. She told me that any of the pupusas were fantastic, the pechuga de pollo, or the carne asada; however, she told me that I should order la especial de La casa if I wanted to try a little bit of everything, so of course I had to go with that. When I looked at the picture given on the menu, it looked like it came with carne asada, a pupusa, and some vegetables. When I got it tho, it was loaded with almost everything on the menu! I'm not sure if it normally comes like this, but it was outstanding! Both the chicken and steak were cooked perfectly, the rice and beans were delicious, and served along side of a cream sauce, some fresh cheese, and avocado. But that wasn't it! Then another plate having some vegetables, a meat and cheese pupusa, and a tamal came out! I was definitely overwhelmed by the amount of food, but I wasn't complaining!! Everything was so delicious and I didn't leave anything behind! This all cost $16, which is a bargain for the amount of food and the quality of the food as well! I also had to get an horchata because it was recommended to us, and it was so good! It wasn't as thick as it can be sometimes, and went down really easily! I will be dreaming of this platter of food for the next couple of days, and highly highly recommend trying Oloculita out if you're in the area!
