    Mangu con Los Tres Golpes
    Antonina E.

First time here, certainly not last! My friend and I made plans the day prior for brunch, and I recommended we try some desayuno Dominicana. She was more than eager to sway from the typical breakfast joints, and I'd had a hankering for Mangu con Los Tres Golpes, so I turned to Yelp for advice. I've wanted to visit this spot for a bit now, so I was happy to find it was on the menu! I locked my bike up to a pole out front, and luckily the window granted clear view, so I could keep an eye the entire meal. (No matter where I'm at my anxiety is always a bit high when I can't see her ) I was pleasantly surprised upon entering the establishment. It's just an open square with a very clean feel and plenty of chairs and tables. The waitress welcomed us immediately to the front counter, and I ordered for my friend and I since she wasn't accustomed to the cuisine. But she is very happy to know about it's existence now. And for the remainder of the meal our waitress was extremely attentive and helpful. She even offered a bag for my to go container when she realized I was putting it in my backpack for the ride home. Yay for no greasy leaks. I'm a proud Italian, but Dominican salami might be a little higher in my preferences. (Don't tell my PopPop). I obviously don't know exactly good from bad Dominican food, but I absolutely loved the texture of the mangu, the fried cheese, and the salami! The egg was cooked perfectly as well. For $8 you can't beat the portions. It's definitely on the greasier side (considering the butter and the frying aspect), but after leg day and a bike ride over, it's well worth it. Psh worth it even without the exercise! I (and I'm sure my friend) will definitely be back soon. Also they have free parking out back! The only negative I guess would be that our circular table swiveled around.. but I'm like 7, so I kind of enjoyed it.

    Cuban sandwich and sweet plantains
    Danijel B.

First time here and it won't be my last. I came in for lunch and ordered the Cuban sandwich and a side of sweet plantains. The pork on the sandwich was perfectly tender and lean! The condiment to meat ratio was good although I wish there was just a bit more pork... the plantains were great!! Warm, caramelized, sweet, absoluet Went here again today for lunch and am ecstatic that I did. I went with the pork and plantains this time. Oh and a guava and cheese empanada. Just take a look at the second pic. Mound of lean, delicious pork. Happy dan :)

As you walk in you'll likely be greeted by the front counter associate or any of them making their way around to clean, or even just having a quick chat with some of the regulars. The colors are warm and vibrant. Just such a welcoming feeling, Hector lavoe played on the screen my entire visit iykyk and If you don't be sure to look into the artist he is a legend. The place is beautifully decorated, and the servers are kind, but the food does not meet the expectations you would have, especially if you are familiar with authentic Colombian food. We ordered empanadas as an appetizer, and they arrived cold, as if they had been made the day before. On top of that, the ají is not the traditional Colombian kind, so the experience was disappointing from the start. The ajiaco, which should be one of the most representative dishes, tasted more like a bland potato soup with no chicken flavor and nothing memorable about it. They do not even serve it with cream, which makes it feel even less authentic and less flavorful. You can also feel a change in the atmosphere when the manager or owner arrives. The treatment toward Hispanic customers feels somewhat dismissive, while it seems different with Americans. For example, a group of Americans picked up their plates and she told them they did not have to do that, but when I did the same, that courtesy was forgotten. Overall, it is a visually pleasant place and the waitresses provide good service, but for someone from Colombia, the food does not live up to many expectations.

Very admirable and apparently they do this often to support other causes, as well. We were happy to dine at a restaurant that cares about the local community. That's what got me (& my wife) in the door. Now, for the brass tacks: Atmosphere: Very nice looking place. Clean. Lively. Loved the front window open on a warm day and the outdoor seating as we walked in. Service: Hostess and Server were both very friendly, attentive and helpful. Both checked in on us, often. Which, for us, is super important not to feel forgotten. No problem here. Food: Uncorkd Burger (sub grilled chicken), Vegetable Risotto w/Salmon, Cheesesteak Egg Rolls, Homemade Vanilla Bread Pudding Cake & Sticky Toffee Pudding Cake. My wife said, convincingly, that the Grilled Chicken Burger was good. (and that's saying something. (She's super picky about chicken sandwiches) My Vegetable Salmon Risotto was terrific. Fresh, bright, creamy, & flavorful. The salmon may have been cooked slightly over, but only slightly. Cheesesteak Egg Rolls were very good. Not made in-house. The desserts were delicious. Bread pudding with Caramel Drizzle! Oh my! Light & Delicious. Stick Toffee Pudding Cake with a decadent dark chocolate sauce. Delightful. We took those desserts to go and had them at home. Delicious. Terrific experience, tonight. I would go back in a heartbeat. Certainly would recommend. 4.2
