Ya know. I really like this place. The food I have gotten is usually really solid, today being no different. But I can't help but admit that I have to stop giving this place the benefit of the doubt when it comes to its service, especially regarding its wait times. Every time I have come, there is at least an hour wait, this last one we were at the restaurant for 2 hours and we waited for our food almost 1.2 hours. I'm all about being understanding that maybe they are understaffed or maybe the server is new, but there were periods of waiting at times where it even took forever just to get water. We had a large group sit outside, and granted it was about 14 of us, but the reality also is that there was zero communication that things might take a while. There were literally 4 tables total inside so the possibility that it was because it was too many tables is also out the window. Plus, this place is now in my opinion way over priced. They need to update their menu prices because my Chicken Katsu entree was $17 and the tea, which wasn't even that much, was $3.50. And on top of all that, even though this waitress honestly didn't even deserve a tip, the restaurant has a 6+ seating gratuity added of 18%. The atmosphere of this place is still nice. Cozy/homey inside with a fun outside, but I no longer suggest this place unless you have a while to wait and it's only a few of you. This place wasted my time today and I doubt I'll be back soon because of it.
One of the best ramen places in El Paso! Service is always great, atmosphere matches well with their food.
Really cool vibe in the restaurant itself with some amazing fusion plates. Pork belly was delicious, the chicken katsu wasn't thinly sliced as it traditionally is but was also very yummy. Definitely higher end cuisine and worth the price. Waiter also had good recommendations.
This place seems to be a hidden gem. It's been around since 2019 but I've never heard of it. The vibe inside is anime but not a ton of it. The service was pretty decent and if I could recommend one drink it would be the sakerita..tasted amazing. We got the phuket nachos which has a little spice to them but not much and the flavor was great. I got the steak strips with kimchi slaw. The kimchi slaw just wasn't anything special in my opinion but the food was so good overall that I'll go back to try out some different sides.
Tried it with friends. Got their pineapple cream soda which they offered; it was very refreshing since i hadn't tried one in a while. I'm pretty sure it's not made by the restaurant but they do offer them. Tried the crispy pork belly, chicken katsu bao, the crispy pork belly bao is crisp on the outside, moist and tender on the inside with a nice relish to go with it. It was a perfect way to start the meal. The chicken Katsu bao is mild and didn't have much flavor to it. For the main course, I tried the spicy miso ramen (firm noodles+garlic on the side+extra pork belly), the broth was decent; however the noodles weren't firm as requested. On a positive note, the mushrooms had excellent flavor to contrast the broth. For dessert I tried the Japanese cheese cake and harajuku puff girls. The cheesecake is on the dry side with mild flavor to it. The puff girls is excellent and would highly recommend for anyone visiting the place.
What a fun spot! Let me preface this review by saying we just got a dessert for pickup, so we can't comment on the full, dine-in for dinner experience! When I called to order, the staff was friendly and informative. We ordered the harajuku puff girls ($6), which is black sesame and ube cream puffs with matcha ice cream. They told us it would be ready in less than ten minutes, and were true to their word! Although we just did pickup, we got a few pictures of the inside because it was so cool and the ambiance was great! Post-covid, we will definitely be back to enjoy the full dining experience! We got the puff girls home and they were so fun to try out! We had never had black sesame or ube, but recently read a BBC article saying ube is the new fad flavor and just had to try it! We definitely preferred the ube puff to the black sesame, but both were delicious! The matcha ice cream also had a bold flavor and complimented the puffs well. Like I said, we will be back (hopefully soon!) for the full dining experience! One note: make sure you are looking at the most current menu when you go to order!
Great little Ramen place! The place is small and cozy and the food is excellent! A bit more pricey but we'll worth the taste! The appetizers are delicious and the Ramen was on point! It also has a motif of Dragon Ball Z so if you're a fan this is your place! Will go again...thank you to the servers and the cooks -everyone working there was very friendly and welcoming! Cheers!
Good place. Chill. The food was good. I liked the decoration of the place. I got miso ramen and it was yummy. There wasn't many people there. Food came out pretty quick
Texan Japanese fusion? It was a bit off putting at first, but definitely has a unique charm with some unique foods. Ambiance - There's a lot of japanese decoration with some texan decor scattered throughout. It's a bit odd, but definitely has a unique charm. There was even Naruto playing on one of the tvs! Service - Very professional and helpful. There's an open kitchen setting so you're able to see what's going on. The system in the kitchen seems to be a bit chaotic, but they recently just opened with time to improve. Food - Started with the pork belly bao which they combined the traditional bao with an hot/bbq sauce that was spicier than expected. While the idea was pretty good, the pork belly and bao itself were dry. The naruto ramen was pretty good broth, noodle, and egg wise. Chasu was too fatty and needed a better fat:lean ratio. Chicken katsu was delicious with an interesting kimchi type of coleslaw and pandan infused rice. Lastly, the japanese cheesecake which was more like a NY chesecake than a japanese one. Overall, I think this place has great potential with a creative, quirky menu. There's just a couple of tweaks that probably need to be worked out, but it's not bad considering they're fairly new. I'd definitely be interested in coming back and checking out the other items!
I stopped in Nomi after having a long lunch at Koze next door. I was greeted by Andrew. I asked how they packaged the to go orders as I had an hour and a half drive ahead of me. He confirmed they package broth and noodles/ toppings separately and I placed an order. I ordered two bowls of tonkotsu with extra pork belly. Andrew was exceptional and took care to make sure I understood how to reheat and cook the noodles. He even made sure they gave me uncooked noodles so I could have them fresh. He gave me plenty of garlic chili paste and I used it all. The ramen made it safely home and I had it the next day. Everything was flavorful and delicious. I know there's a lot of ramen in El Paso and I need to try all of them, but I'll definitely be back because Andrew made the experience AMAZING.
Lovely little hole in the wall on the West side. Spectacular integration of anime culture and dining. Not overdone or gaudy decor. Looks like an anime tea house. The food is flavorful , fresh and well balanced. We were celebrating a birthday and they even sent a delicious surprise. This will be our new go to for Ramen
Fantastic. A few coworkers and I had seen that this place was on Yelp's Top 100 for 2022. Some of us had been here before, but for me it was a first. I had heard good things, and I wasn't disappointed. We started with the pork belly buns. Solid, especially if you get a side of chili oil. We also started with the dragon ball Z. Not my favorite, but it was well prepared. We all got the spicy miso ramen. It was delicious and the mushrooms in it were stellar. The broth was rich and the pork was perfectly tender. Dessert was fantastic as well. We got the puff girls and the cheesecake.
Came for dinner close to closing time & had a great experience! Wonderful service - great customer service skills with recommendations, friendliness, and professionalism. The food was great too! Forgot to take a picture of the food because we were so hungry Ordered the chicken katsu for kids, entree of chicken katsu with soy chili salad, and brisket with corn. All tasted fresh, were prepared quickly, and presented nicely. The Japanese cheesecake was good too! Definitely different from the usual cheesecake, but still pleasant. Highly recommend

I was completely blown away with the food and service here! The drink selection is creative and relevant to the Japanese fusion theme. We stuck to Japanese beers but will be trying their cocktails next time. We had the crab cakes, the pork dumplings, the scallops, the chicken katsu and the pork belly bao. All so different and so damn good--we had them come one by one. The portions are smaller than what Texans are used to but from my experience bigger than what they serve in Japan, plus it gives you a chance to try different items! The staff was super friendly, the vibe of the place is amazing, with Japanese urban decor. Excited for the weather to get warmer to enjoy their patio. I've been annoying all my friends and family, insisting that they try this place. read more

Holy Hidden Gem Batman.. This place is delicious.. There wasn't one part of our meal, dessert included that wasn't delicious. The atmosphere is stinking cool and the right kind of nerdy, the service was phenomenal and the food left us speechless flavor wise more than a few times. The Bao buns are the best I have ever had, and their take on potato salad is different and super tasty. If you're looking to take a chance on some place new and interesting this is your bet. Your fat kid soul will love you for it, I promise. read more
Walking in the atmosphere is cute and small, with nice decor. I absolutely love the wood seating and the view of the open kitchen. The reason I'm giving three stars is because I was only really impressed with two out of five options off the menu and service is slow. So I'm the pictures below you will see my first favorite appetizer- Pork Belly Baos. If you enjoy spicy definitely a starter to try. The Porky belly is cooked BEAUTIFULLY, nice amount of fat but not overwhelming and the char is perfect, the cilantro & pickled onion creates a great balance for the pork belly and the spicy sauce with a fresh feel and acidic punch. The bone marrow was okay, the picture shows only one but that is because the second one they made the server came to us and told my boyfriend and I there was no marrow in the other one so they were making us with bone marrow. The first bone marrow didn't tasted very seasoned and was very gushy. Mind you, I love bone marrow and I understand the consistency, but this was a bit overwhelming on the gushy end. The fresh tortillas (I believe that's what they were) were delicious, the pico didn't really hit the spot and the lemon kind of confused me. When the second marrow came out it barely had any bone marrow, it was a little disappointing because that was the same reason why we were waiting for the second one and it turns out to what I imagine was the whole reason why they were giving us another anyway. It's alright, but I won't be ordering again. The dumplings I tried yesterday with a girlfriend of mine and she loved, but again I wouldn't order again. The sauce was very bland and the dumplings stuck to the plate and completely open dumping the filling out and it was just messy & lacked flavor. I did add sriracha but it didn't do much. My second favorite thing here was the Japanese salad, it was delicious! Reminded me of potato salad with a twist. Must try a side of the salad, trust me. The Kogi steak was cooked beautifully but had no type of sauce, I was thinking maybe a glaze of some sort or a Chimichurri to amplify the taste. Without a sauce it was just weird. The rice was very fragrant, reminded me of a flower almost, I wasn't to keen with that but it was definitely worth a try. The rice was cooked very well. The chicken katsu was good, but again the sauce that came with it didn't click. I would've probably preferred a sweet glaze to even out the breading and the chicken itself. I'd probably wait a little while before I came back, but they bowls of ramen looked great as the waitress passed by. The service being so small didn't make sense as to why the servers looked bombarded. The servers were incredibly nice, but need a bit work on efficiency. read more

Yes, it should be 4 stars or more. Anime and antlers. That is the theme of the decor and the menu as well. It is a very unique idea to take traditional Texas cuisine and prepare and present it with a Japanese twist. I had brisket with Japanese potato salad and elote (Mexican style corn with cotija and lime). My spouse had duck with rice and soy salad. It was all prepared excellently and was delicious. So delicious that we ordered desert aptly named "the puff sisters". The puff was two mouse stuffed eclairs served with a single scoop of green tea ice cream. Again the execution was perfection. Personally, I don't care for green tea ice cream but it pleased my wife. One puff was stuffed with chocolate and the other with vanilla. While they were not exactly eclairs that is the limit of my culinary expertise. Overall, I would go back in a minute. The entire menu is eclectic and exciting. If you are up for a food adventure this should be your next stop. . read more

Amazing! This place is absolutely amazing, my husband and I are so happy we decided to try this place. Everyone was so friendly and the food was perfect. We ordered the bone marrow as an appetizer, it was the first time either of us has tried it and it was sooo good! I ordered the Tonkatsu which was PERFECT! It wasn't too hot where you had to wait to eat it, which was nice. My husband ordered the Spicy Miso which had a kick to it but it was amazing as well. I usually don't eat pork but this is the pork that everyone needs to eat, that pork belly was perfectly cooked. Overall this place is great and we highly recommend coming here. read more

I don't know how long it has been since I have been surprised by food in El Paso. Take one bite of an entree at Nomi and you will smile because of how exciting and new the flavor is! The tonkotsu has a lovely rich and nutty broth. The pork belly bao has the perfect texture balance of crispy, fatty, and doughy. The katsu gaijin matches sweet and salty flawlessly. The matcha panna cotta knocked my socks off--when you get a bite of the deliciously sweet warm sticky rice beneath the cold refreshing gelatin...!!! My only critique is that the miso ramen was mediocre because it was too watery and the other elements of the soup did not elevate the dish enough. Cocktails have been a bit underwhelming. However, I love coming here and I love trying items each time! read more
Nomi is a great addition to the ever-growing local restaurant scene in El Paso! I recently met our 2019 Elite reviewer of the year, Karla V. here. She suggested for me to pick a place and I chose Nomi. I read mostly good things about it on Yelp. Karla and her son are awesome and super nice! I had a great conversation with them. Karla is a busy lady so she unfortunately couldn't make it to our Yelpies awards ceremony. The waiter (who was super patient and great BTW) suggested we try samples of different items so that's what we did. We first tried the Phuket nachos. They had queso, baby shrimp, peppers and some brown sauce. The queso and baby shrimp were very good together. The queso was white and tasty. I didn't really care for the peppers or brown sauce. We also tried the crab cakes (Dragonballz) and sweet and spicy chicken skewers. I don't like crab that much but I enjoyed these crab cakes. The sauce below them sort of reminded me of ranch dressing. It was a delicious combination! The chicken skewers had some fried batter wrapped around white chicken meat. They also had a great flavor. They were not spicy at all, just crunchy and not bland. Think Long John Silvers' chicken but much tastier and fluffier. For dessert, we ordered the Japanese cheesecake and sticky rice. I loved the cheesecake and the raspberry dipping sauce! It didn't taste like the cheesecake from the grocery store or Cheesecake Factory. The texture was wonderful, soft and spongy I'd say. I didn't care for the rice too much. I just didn't like the gooey texture or almost non-existent taste. I took home some vegan noodles for my boyfriend. They were amazing! He is probably the pickiest eater I know but he liked them a lot. The broth was tasty and not too salty. The veggies and everything I had from Nomi was fresh. The best thing out of the noodle concoction were the mushrooms. OMG! They were sweet tasting, like nothing I've ever tasted before! My bf said they tasted like candy! The sweet corn was also delish! Prices were reasonable, not cheap but well worth it...considering the food quality. This is a perfect place to celebrate a special occasion. We celebrated Karla's 228 reviews in 2019. Great job Karla! Nomi is a must at least once or even more than that. I may have found a new favorite spot that's close to home. If I'm going to keep eating this good, I need to exercise a lot more! I'm going to say 4.5 stars total but I'm rounding up to 5. read more

I live in Hawaii where the ramen is plentiful and have been fortunate enough to eat ramen in Japan. This is Japanese-Texan fusion, and it's done extremely well. We are visiting for the week and wanted something to warm us up. We didn't expect the flavor profiles that we experienced. Between the pork dumplings, skirt steak skewers, and spicy miso ramen we left knowing that nothing will match this meal while in El Paso. Each dish packed a ton of flavor into every bite. Pleasantly surprised and slightly shocked in the best way. read more

Man oh man this ramen hit ALL taste buds in my palate. Last time I had ramen was a few months back during my travels to Ginza and Tokyo, Japan and I can't believe that a restaurant in a town such as El Paso, TX is putting out ramen comparable to that of Tokyo, Japan. My hat's off to the chef and I can't wait to go back for more. Today, as a matter of fact!. Arigatou gozaimashita! read more
If you haven't tried this place yet, go do it. Like, now. The restaurant has charm, outstanding service, good food, and that's the whole package! The charm comes from the interior design. The restaurant has wooden walls with dim lighting and beloved Japanese anime/manga characters adorning the walls to give it a hip touch. When you enter, it's like you're in a themed restaurant and can just enjoy the theatrics of it all while you're in there! Service was phenomenal. Servers were constantly checking in with us, and even apologizing for the wait when we didn't really wait that long at all! Waters were filed endlessly, and I was overall so pleased with how attentive they were. The manager even came out to ask if we enjoyed the food and thanked us for coming. I tried the tonkotsu ramen and I honestly think this might be better than Kaedama. The broth has a good, milky pork flavor to it, and they had the most flavorful sweet shitake mushrooms to give the ramen an umami boost. It was also decorated with seaweed, fried onions, green onions, and chashu. The chashu was okay in my opinion. I think Kaedama does a better job in that department. It has flavor, but it's more reminiscent of bacon than actual Japanese chashu. Despite that, the reason why I'm giving this ramen a better rating than Kaedama is that egg. THAT EGG. Finally someone in El Paso got their Japanese egg right!!!!!!! It was marinated in all the right sauces - with the mirin and the sake coming through the egg whites. And to top it off, the yolk was perfectly soft boiled and oozed out after one bite. I had to tell the manager that they did an absolutely perfect job with the egg because it was that good. The Japanese cheesecake was very familiar as it reminded me of these Korean cheesecakes back at home. Have you ever seen those fluffy, bouncy Japanese soufflé cheesecakes on social media? Cross that with an American, dense cheesecake and BAM, you get this Japanese cheesecake. It's not too dense, but still has a wonderful bite to it. The cheese flavor is subtle and the entire cake isn't too sweet, and that's how I like my desserts. It's worth a try because I'm sure no other restaurant in El Paso has anything like this, so get your fill here. Overall, great experience. I can't wait to go back to try the rest of their menu :) read more

My boyfriend took me here for Valentine's Day. It was super busy and the ambiance was buzzing with activity which gave us a sense of privacy even though we were at the bar with other people. The service was great. The food was amazing and I'm already plotting my next meal there. Vegan ramen: the broth is heavenly! My non-vegan boyfriend nearly ate it all. Kimchi fried rice (no egg) was flavorful and the portion size was perfect. Cauliflower tacos: comes with three small tacos that are excellent but ask for extra sauce! Boyfriend loved the dragon balls and chicken skewers. Vegetable tempura was tasty. The proprietors put a lot of thought and effort into the design and decor of this small restaurant. Japanese decor with anime accents. The dark grey tile in the unisex bathrooms is beyond beautiful. Such a lovely modern touch. Sitting at the bar was great because it's open to the kitchen where we got to observe the various chefs gathering rice and supplies for the dishes they were preparing. read more
Texas barbecue Japanese fusion. Didn't think I'd ever see such a combination in El Paso. Not a big barbecue fan, but I love all Japanese food so I thought I'd give it a try. Small plates are great for sharing. My favorite dishes were the scallops and bone marrow (your choice of French bread or corn tortillas). I was happy the bone marrow turned out great because very few places in El Paso sell a decent marrow. Unfortunately , the ramen was average and price point overall seems a bit high. But will return to try more of the menu! Also great service-shout out to our waitress Jennie! read more
