Honestly, I rarely venture down to Brady Street, but I was in the neighborhood around happy hour. The service from the bartender was attentive and friendly she greeted me as I sat down. I've experience a range of customer service across Milwaukee bars so I appreciate how good the experience here turned out to be. A bit loud for me but I am very very old. Just a fun bar experience that is a good introduction to Brady. I do love their attached coffee shop which I often order food and coffee from, but i like that you have two options depending on what you are feeling and where you are in the day. read more

After many years patrioning Nomad's, it was finally time to give one of their boozy-slushies a try! We were recently out on their beautiful back patio during a sunny afternoon, and it just sounded good. Let me preface, vodka and redbull are normally *not* my thing but it honestly made for a pretty darn good slushie I have to say. Drink with caution: brain freeze does happen! Certainly didn't need more than one (reached my sugar high), so we switched to the cold draft beer afterwards. I thought the bar staff was real friendly, and the atmosphere is always great here. This is THE place to catch all the big soccer (football) games in Milwaukee. Located on the already buzzy Brady St, Nomad has a colorful and huge outdoor patio with a bar and tons of seating. They have lots of TVs and play multiple games at a time so you can be sure if you go you can watch your squad in action (even if they are playing at 6am!). No matter the weather, they have heaters under the bar to keep you fairly warm. They also have part of the street directly off Brady blocked off to add additional seating and during big events (World Cup, Euros etc) they put up a giant video board and bring in food vendors. Its quite a scene! The opened Nomad Coffee Bar next door to accommodate all those early soccer matches. They have boozy drinks, smoothies and a full breakfast and lunch menu! My husband and I stopped in here for a few drinks while in town. The bartender was super fun and social and the drinks were decent. The decor around the place is definitely cool. Just a heads up, we were there a few weeks ago and while the working staff had masks on, there were about 4 workers who were off shift hanging out at the bar, not distancing, not wearing masks which gave the impression that the Nomad is relaxed about such things. I love Nomad and always come back here when it's nice outside. It's the perfect place to hangout with friends for a drink and dog friendly which I love. With COVID, they've gotten very strict which is great but the bouncers take their jobs a bit too seriously - to the point of not letting us borrow unused chairs from other tables. They could also staff the bar a bit better, it took awhile to get a drink when it was busy. COVID Precautions: All staff are wearing masks and guests are required to when they aren't eating/drinking. All tables are sanitized in between parties and they are heavily encouraging social distancing and limiting capacity as well. read more

Long overdue review. During my first time in Milwaukee, I parked my car across the street from the nearby Starbucks, and proceeded to walk down Brady Street to beer crawl. For those first timers in Milwaukee like myself, the Nomad World Pub is one of those venues that you have to stop into first. The confines are a bit small, but okay. Large bar area with plenty of drink & craft beer choices. Great place to watch a game as well, even if you aren't a Packers fan. The IPAs were unbelievably hoppy, yet I would expect no less while in Milwaukee. The bartenders are very laid back and personable. The female bartender that served me (35ish, slender blonde) even recommended other places to pop into while walking on Brady Street. I noted that the bar doesn't serve food. If they do, its usually just snacks. Yet I don't see the reason for it when there are quite a few choices with regard to hot dogs and the like within walking distance. One cool thing that this bar did for me is while keeping my tab open, I walked to another venue to get a couple of hot dogs & fries. I tend to believe that they normally don't do this, yet I felt so comfortable with them that in turn, they felt comfortable with me to return & pay my tab. Of course, it also helps that I left my car keys there as insurance. LOL. Pretty cool place, and close to everything else. Outdoor seating is available, yet very limited. read more

There is only one barista in the coffee shop that knows how to make coffee. The rest give you essentially flavored milk and when you correct them they act and look insulted. Food has been eh and the past 3 visits. Recommend going to rochambo down the street. read more

Fun and laid back bar to go with friends. They have good reasonably priced drinks. Their special that includes a shot of Jamo, a PBR, and a cigarette seems to be very popular -- However, i don't really like encouraging smoking of cigarettes though. Fun music on a Saturday night -- a bunch of 30 something's loved the Backstreet Boys, Hanson, and other nostalgic music! Love that they are a soccer bar and support early morning games. Coffee bar is great. The general staff seems all right but the bartenders have a 'it's my bar attitude' who don't wash their hands and handle money - fruit for drinks, eat behind the bar and regularly drink while working - often working the free drinks/shots for better tip dollars that I have seen them give away - in the service industry we call that stealing. The bar area is dirty - I would not drink anything out of the frozen machines - it's kinda a filthy place - I can only imagine what the kitchen looks like. Clearly no adult ownership in charge. Sometimes you just wanna good bar! A place that realizes its a bar and doesn't try to infuse anything or mull something and just serves up good drinks in a friendly atmosphere....Nomad is that place. If you like beer you will love Nomad's they have a huge selection....if you like soccer you will love Nomads because they are a soccer bar however I like to go watch the Wisconsin and Packer games there. I will say I love their Bloody Mary's, because they all make them differently. Every time I have been to Nomad I stand there when they are making it and they ask me questions about how I like it and it always tastes different but alway delicious! I have heard the Happy Hour is great it is at 4:00-4:18 Monday through Friday and you can get a drink for 1.00, but I never can get there early enough to try it (Goal for 2017). Nomad's is on a corner on Brady Street across from the Walgreen's, I mean how can you not enjoy Brady Street? It isn't fancy but you feel comfortable as soon as you walk in the door. Every bartender I have had is friendly and great about making sure your drink stays full. I have been upstairs every time I go for private parties but have also frequented the downstairs to get the bar vibe, but I do enjoy the upstairs room. There is a bar and several televisions up there. It can get kind of crowded in the bar but I like being around that kind of atmosphere. What's not to like? Twenty-four beers on tap; smiling, gracious bartenders; a charming eclecticity of "world" decor. It's a little more than just a neighborhood place but it does have character: the old wooden floor is scraped to hell but there's a beautiful cappuccino-colored painted tin ceiling. And they seem to be building something in the upstairs, although right now even the stairs to GET upstairs are not finished. Did I mention the twenty-four beers? This is one of the bars where you can get a free pint of Lakefront with a coupon from the Lakefront Brewery tour. Yesterday they were pouring the Riverwest Stein Beer and the Trocadero White. They also have Lagunitas, New Glarus, Guinness and Smithwick's, a handful of Bell's, four mainstream Belgians, and others. Oh, and if you are frugal and/or down on your luck, try the Recession Prix Fix [sic]: one shot of Jameson, one can of Pabst, and one cigarette for five dollars. read more

The Nomad's "patio" is one of those things that always makes me happy. Now, I use the term "patio" loosely... in reality, its no more than a row of plastic chairs lined up along the wall of the building behind a railing. But don't let that description get you down on this venue, its one of the most fun in Milwaukee. Anything is bound to happen! One time when I was sitting on the Nomad patio, I was cornered by a "biker gang". Not a Harley gang... a gang of bicyclists wearing studded spandex riding suits! Another time at the Nomad patio, a group of my friends watched as several drunken ruffians helped a older neighborhood woman mow her lawn... with a manual rotating lawnmower from the 1940s! Another time at the Nomad patio, I participated in one of the most intense games of Pop-o-Matic Trouble ever possible... it almost resulted in a table being flipped! Well, hopefully you get the idea as to how dynamic the Nomad patio is, but in addition to the patio, the bar itself is great too. Some people refer to it as a dive bar, but I would never classify it as such. Yes, it's small, dark and very smokey, but they taken their beer seriously... and it's not all Milwaukee domestics. One of my favorite breweries in America is Magic Hat (out of Vermont) and early this summer I received word that they got a distributor in the Milwaukee area... my heart skipped a beat. When I began to wonder who would actually carry such a unique and interesting beer right away... there was only one answer... The Nomad! I suggest picking up a pint of Magic Hat #9 on tap. In addition to these unique craft brews, the Nomad also has a wide selection of imports in bottles and on tap. These are real beer people. There is also the option of the Prix Fix, but I've never indulged. My Nomad drinking nights are generally too chill to start taking down Jameson. Nomad does also have a weekly trivia night, but I don't recommend it. First of all, the bar gets too smokey for me to focus my intelligence on random bar trivia. Second of all, the trivia game lasts FOREVER. It's about 4 or 5 rounds and it wouldn't surprise me if it lasted from 8 pm until 11pm. it's a marathon. Overall, Nomad is one of my favorite bars in Milwaukee. Its always crowded and anything goes. read more

This bar was so much fun! Will definitely be coming back, they have such a great thing going on here. My friends and I took advantage of the outdoor seating since the weather was finally cooperating with us. We were able to smell the food being cooked off in the distance, enjoy the energy being radiated from all the patrons there cheering on the game, and enjoy a relaxing drink out in the sun where we caught a few rays. I came here back in 2008 for the very first time when I was showing a GF my hometown. We had a pile of Stone Ruination bottles (we drank every bottle in the cooler), shots, and some Milwaukee guy grabbed her boob when I went to the bathroom. Somehow, and I am not sure how really, I bought this stooge a shot for his birthday and told him he could grab my boob, but lay off the lady. We still had a great time! Well, I moved back here sans GF and Brady Street has become like State Street in Madison - it is full of drunk yuppies, college Jay-holes, and every bar I used to go see great bands play at is either gone, re-branded, and I have to stay that Nomad seems a bit more douche baggy than it did in 2008. Now, a place where a guy grabs a girls boob is a bit questionable, but we had such a good time that we both went back to Nomad when visiting Milwaukee - after breaking up. Hmmm? This is the sign of a good bar! I have mixed emotions since I generally love bars of this sort....... so here goes: 1. Beer. They have great beer on tap, and great beer in bottles, plus lots of the cheap stuff for you folks who want to drink beer that was once brewed in Milwaukee. Top notch beer! 2. Scene. The bar is much bigger now with the expansion to the upstairs. The odd stage means that the first floor is often too crowded. So, if the upstairs is closed this is a hyper packed bar - so this makes it feel a bit too crowded most of the time. 3. Clients. I think I like this place best before 10 pm. You can go here and avoid the 20-something jackasses and UWM go-state kids who ask the DJ to play Kei$ha. Really, these girls (Halloween weekend) were demanding that the DJ play "strip club" favorites - and they grinded away and knew all the lyrics. Some great local bands like The Clams did a reunion here so the place can still be Big C Cool. I have seen many places go from cool to not so cool in my time. I used to hang out at Small Bar Chicago in Logan Square and on Division back in the mid 2000's and loved these places, but now, even with 20+ great beers on tap, the Division Street location fills with douche bags and sorority girls on the weekends. The original small bar in Logan has stayed cool. Brady is becoming a tween get drunk street, and I think Nomad is being forced to confront the reality of the situation. Solution: Second Bay View Location! Small Bar Chicago has several locations and you pick the one that fits your mood (I prefer the original location). Nomad needs a Bay View location for the cool oldsters and hipsters to get away from the Jay-holes. Parking sucks in this area, and Milwaukee has crap mass transit so if you are not an east-sider, get here early or plan an hour of time on the bus or 30 minutes on your bike (when the street-bike parking is available this place gets a 4th star - that is COOL). read more

Even better if you make it in time for the world cup. You really can travel the world from your bar stool (find me on a corner stool). Their new upstairs bar is awesome. Plus I love that the bar is now smoke free. Here's the best part: The staff!! I personally love almost every single one of the bartenders and various other employees.
