Ok so had dinner with parents and it was bad. The menus say salads come with dinners. But when the waitress showed up with salsa at the table, one plate was short. We asked and she said that particular entree doesn't come with a salad. So we wait for dinner. They plates arrive and most everyone's was over cooked if not burnt. I had the red snapper special that was to be "blackened". Blackened doesn't mean chard! It had a side of cream sauce with onions and jalapeños. It was so gross. My dad's dish was tiny pieces of over cooked deep fried fish and a steak that was "med". Which looked to be med/rare. To add insult the prices are outrageous for the poor quality of food. read more

I'm giving 1 star because I have to in order to write this review. Otherwise I'd give none! My coworkers and I have ordered 3 times and EVERY time our order was wrong! The first time they gave me the wrong salad. I had to turn around and go back. When they brought me the correct salad it was significantly smaller. I literally had more chicken and dressing than I did lettuce. Second time we placed our order the lady seemed like it was her first day and didn't know how to take an order. I had to repeat myself several times and she even repeated it back to me. No problem we've all been the new employee. I requested extra dressing and she told me the salads already come with plenty. Well, I like alot of dressing so please grant my request. I am paying for it. My coworker goes to pick up the order and again, the order was wrong. They left out chicken for 1 of the salads, no extra fries as requested / ordered and the "extra" salad dressing was put in a smaller container than the regular one. I felt like that was done on purpose as to say you want extra but we're only giving you a little (cause they think they already give enough). I filed a complaint on their website and have yet to get a response. Today, against my better wishes my coworkers wanted to try 1 more time. The order was placed, the lady repeated the order back and again it was wrong! 3 salads with chicken. Very easy order. Non of the salads had chicken! One of the salads had the wrong dressing as well. My coworker had to go back and wait longer. First, it's our break time so we place our order early enough so it will be ready. Second the prices for a salad are outrageous but if it's good we don't mind paying BUT get the order right!!! When checking the receipt our order was correct for payment but it seems like they like to leave parts of the order off. Kinda suspicious. Never have I seen a restaurant continously get orders wrong. Me and my girlfriend planned a nice little weekend in Canandaigua and thought that Nolan's looked like the best restaurant on the lake from previous reviews and posts. Have to mildly disagree. Wine selection and cocktails were decent, appetizers were great. My better half ordered their chicken French that she loved. I ordered the 14oz strip hoping it was going to blow my mind considering they advertise the cuts and aging on the staffs shirts. Highly dissatisfied. Ordered a mid rare strip and it came out mid well to well dead. Politely asked to have a other steak made while my girlfriend waited to eat and her meal got cold. Replacement steak came out even more overcooked. Manager came over and said he tempt it himself... well maybe adjust your thermometer Bc that thing was dead 3 times over. Continued to say I'm not trying to argue, And walked away. They did take it off the check but for a place that advertises wet aged beef learn to cook the stuff!!! Went for a quick lunch. First time going there after hearing about it from friends. Ordered French onion soup which was outstanding. The waitress never brought the iced teas we ordered. The Cobb salad was only ok. Have had much better elsewhere. The lettuce was wilted and a few pieces rotten. A turn off indeed. Will go again someday for dinner. Was treated to dinner here with my boyfriend on Valentine's Day. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The manager made it a priority to check on each table and make adjustments where needed. The food was excellent. I had the Chicken Parmesan and it was delicious! The menu was limited given the occasion but it was worth it. Had a seat right next to the fake fireplace which was beautiful in itself. The service was punctual. The only thing we waited for was getting a table even with having reservations. Which is expected on such a holiday. read more

I recently ate at Nolan's not once, but twice (two nights in a row) while in Canadaigua for work. This place is amazing. Prime Rib, Scallops, Pasta, soup, salad, you name it is delicious and very reasonably priced! Trust me I tried all of the things I mentioned :) Some patrons were dressed up where others were casual attire yet everyone was treated like royalty. Dana was our server both nights and was outstanding. Having someone like her wait on you for a night makes you realize how much better a meal/dining experience can be with great service. As an outsider, it appeared that this is a local favorite with many regulars; if I lived closer or have reason to be in this part of New York it would/will be a regular for me. read more

First of all I loved the view. They sat us right next to the window, so we could look out onto the lake at sunset. Our waitress was quite pleasant. She checked on us enough to be helpful, and not to much to interrupt. The food was very well prepared as well. We both ordered steaks. We asked them to be prepared differently. Both were perfect. The address listed on here is incorrect. When we told the hostess this she just nodded. It was not a very good first impression. The service was horrible. The waitress was not attentive at all. The bus staff was attentive to when we finished our dishes however. Our food was delivered without certain condiments. But, the taste of the food made up for the horrible service. We had a terrible meal at Nolan's on Canandaigua Lake on August 17. First, the bread that was brought to the table was MICROWAVED not heated in an oven. Then, the Calamari Salad had absolutely no seasoning, and was so soggy and wet, that it was inedible. The busboy said, "you didn't eat anything!" and asked me if I wanted to have the salad boxed up. And I said, "No it's terrible" and he didn't make any response. He just took it away. My son's fish was good, but my husband's chicken sandwich was surely not worth the price. The waitress never asked if the meal was good, and in fact, only came back to the table to deliver the check. We never saw her again. This is a reliable place for good food. The food is foodie quality good, and the atmosphere is nice but not stuffy. Try the fried pickles, and steaks are good. Very well run. This is my 3rd visit, came here after realizing that the staff at the restaurant at the Inn on the Lake was indifferent, glad I came to Nolans instead. read more

Stopped in for dinner last week and our party of 4 was seated in the atrium. We were welcomed a few times on the way to the table and felt welcome. The drinks were great and I opted for a nice micro beer. We shared a ravioli treat before dinner and it was excellent. The meals were all presented well, there was prime rib, chicken in a couple variations and a seafood dish. All looked great and we all ended taking home part of the dinner to enjoy later. Came here a couple of weeks ago on a Sunday night. We had reservations. This was the first time we had been since it reopened. The food was good, once we got it. The service was really disappointing. Our waitress was very not very attentive; our drinks were empty more than once and she seemed as though she didn't want to be there. The biggest issue was how long it took to get our food. The wait between the bread, appetizer, salad, then entree, and dessert was painfully long. read more

So, I finally went to the new Nolans in Canandaigua early this evening for dinner. I have been wanting to go for quite some time. We were settling in and enjoying a drink before dinner. It was beautiful inside, that is , until an ill mannered waitress came out of the kitchen area with one of the bus people. She was drilling him about the numbers of the tables and his understanding of his job responsibilities. She was absolutely rude and unprofessional. This young man just stood there and listened to her and answered when she asked him a question. It was obvious that he was mortified being subjected to this in front of all the patrons. I have one thing to say to the owners on Nolan's.....SHAME ON YOU! You allow your staff to speak to subordinates in this manner and to do it publically?!! I worked In retail and ran my own store. I NEVER would have allowed ANYONE to speak to my staff with such disrespect. EVERYONE deserves human respect......EVERYONE. I will never return to your establishment, because I will NEVER support such horrible human behavior. read more

I've had some variable experiences here. The first time I went I had the shrimp and scallops pasta with vodka sauce which was only so-so and lacked flavor/seasoning. My boyfriend had the blue cheese burger special substituting the beyond burger and he really liked that. We both had beyond burgers the second time, but they had gotten rid of the special and did not replace it with something equally good so the "pub burger" was somewhat disappointing. They might consider keeping the blue cheese burger on the regular rotation. Our appetizer came out cold that time which was very disappointing. And our reservation was for 7 but dinner did not come out until 8; we were sitting there for like 40 minutes after we finished the appetizer. I can see why people have mixed feelings about this place. But the atmosphere is nice and some of the food is very good. Just hope you don't go on an off night. Also, please put some veggie friendly things on the menu! Seriously, this is 2019! read more

Ate at Nolan's last night. Had a nice Sonoma valley cab at a fair price. Had the calamari, which was very good with peppers. I had the lobster and crab stuffed sole. Very good and my wife had the scallops which she loved!! Excellent service by Pui, our waitress!! She was fantastic and so pleasant. Would def go back. Went for dinner tonight. Yes, it was our fault we didn't make reservations...so we went to the bar until a table was ready. Except our table was in the crowded bar that was full of noisy, obnoxious people. Our server had to yell at the top of her lungs and keep moving out of the way of other patrons while speaking with us. I had to ask for place settings after our food was delivered. Staff was overbearing in taking our appetizer plates to The point where we let them take them to get them off our back. The whole experience was chaotic and the quality of food didn't even live up to the check. If you want a quiet night away...which we don't get often and value so much...this place isn't it. Came from Arizona and I wanted a good steak house. Well, Nolan's is it. My friends eat here all the time and told me they have never had a bad meal. Great service. We sat on the covered patio, I had the prime rib with bake potato and salad. The prime rib was cooked just right. Salad was tasty. My friends had the tenderloin de poivre which was a tenderloin crusted in cracked pepper, with brandy and a creamy dijon mustard sauce and mushrooms. My friends were going nuts over their dinner. Generous portions, meals are hot and service is top notch. I thought this restaurant was right on the lake, it is not, but it does not matter. I love it here! Me and my mom met here for dinner and drinks when she had a conference. We came past the time they were serving dinner but they still happily served us. The dinner was amazing. We both got surf and turf. They brought us shrimp cocktail, salad, fresh bread, and perfectly cooked steak and lobster. Our waiter, Colin, never made us feel rushed. He was attentive, friendly, and cool. And then we went to the bar and the bartender, Jen, was personal and friendly. We definitely will come back! Great place and a great seafood selection! I always enjoy my meals there - been going with business people and for fun for years. Last night a friend ordered a water for me at the bar while waiting for our table. We went this past Saturday and yes didn't make reservations ( that's our own fault) The gentleman I assume the manager went above & beyond to get us a table on an exceptionally busy evening. THANK YOU !! The food was amazing. My Filet Mignon & Lobster Tail were perfect. The young man that was our server was kind, very attentive & knowledgeable. We have always had outstanding service & food whether we ate there, ordered take out for lunch as well as Wedding & Reunion meals. Went there for lunch Monday. The three of us ordered fish fries. I took a bite could smell a strong odor of ammonia. Tasted it and was really strong taste. Asked my brother about his, he also smelled the ammonia but couldn't taste it. I after two bites was finished, I couldn't get past that smell. I typically avoid giving negative reviews. We all make mistakes. However, management of this establishment needs to know what is going on at their restaurant. We have been residents of Canandaigua Lake for 25 years, and have been Nolan's fans. The last three meals we have had have been poor. The last dining experience was simply the worst in memory. It began with difficulty simply making the reservation, the young lady not seeming to understand that we wanted to come in rather than take food out. We arrived and were shown promptly to a bare table. 10 minutes later we were given some water, eventually we were asked if we wanted to order drinks. We did, but neither the waitress nor the bartender understood what a Negroni was, for instance. 45 minutes after we sat down I received my room temperature martini; the other two drinks were not bad. About an hour after we sat down we had to ask if we could place our dinner order, which we did. We were served roughly an hour and a half after we arrived. The calamari appetizer was more or less the dregs of a Durkee's onion can dipped in stale oil, doused with banana peppers. It was tasteless and dreadful. My companions, including an international visitor, I thought it would be fun to have the fish fry. Unfortunately, the exceptionally modest portion of fish appear to have been coded with cornstarch and microwaved. The fries were fairly tasteless. I had been looking forward to my ahi tuna, but what I was served would normally be described as microwaved minute steak from Tops. It literally could not be cut, only torn. We left two hours after we arrived, not having eaten our dinners, and too dispirited to even complain to the dwindling staff. read more

This used to be my favorite restaurant but after tonight I don't think I'll be going back anytime soon I had a cowboy cut ribeye $32.00 asked for medium rare it came very rare and was full of fat and grizzle worst steak I ever got there. After dinner ordered coffee $2.25/ cup never offered a refill I think this place is going downhill. Many other places that keep the quality up they must be cutting corners on their meat not a smart move. My girlfriend ordered the same steak and it was almost raw too. read more

I have liked Nolan's for years, dating back to their old location. I often meet people there if there coming from Geneva/Seneca Falls area. The service is always very attentive, but not rushed. The food is always quality and nicely presented. Pricing is fair. If your looking for gourmet, this not your place, but it is excellent!
