    Writing down our favorite scents

We had a good time at Noir Lux Candle bar! I feel one caveat was getting to the candle bar, and having somewhat of a difficult time/less accommodating experience after arriving two minutes past the apparent cut off time. It's definitely important to be on time and to be considerate of the candlemaking instructor's request, but it felt a bit abrupt and stressful the way the situation was approached. We were there for a friends birthday and some of us were visiting out of town. We were asked to come back and make the reservation for another day, but that couldn't happen since some of us were leaving the city in a day or so. It's our fault for being late, but it was also a bit disheartening to hear how strict there cut off time is. Makes sense though. And although we did have this late inconvenience, it was still a very fun time and we still were able to make our candles. I personally felt the way we went about sampling different essential oils was a bit chaotic. We sat in a row and had to sniff the oils one by one, writing down the name of the oils we like the best. But this was somewhat of a slow process, and some people needed more time smelling than others. So it made the oil sniffing a bit slower and backed up. To that point, when it was time to find your specific oils to create your unique scent, everything was clustered and difficult to locate. The only thing to identify the scents by were small labels on the front of the bottle. And they only had one scent per bottle, so I think the popular scents were often taken up and people had to wait. But we only had 10 minutes to sample them anyways. There was also a lack of history when candlemaking, I had felt like we would get a bit more background on the candles themselves and the process, but it felt a bit rushed and like we could make the candles from a kit ourselves. I did like how the staff poured our wax for us! That was very nice. And the scent and decorations inside were so nice!! For the price, it was a good time but I think the overall user experience could be elevated a bit more!

As a lifelong candle lover, I enjoyed this fun, elevated experience. The host was extremely hospitable, fun and set a good vibe. Made two beautiful candles. Also, it was interesting to hear about the origins of this cool business. Definitely coming back!

What a fun way to spend the morning! The Noir Lux team did a great job to teach us the candle-creating process and had so many scents/vessels available for us to experiment with. What a great and welcome addition this is to the community!

I loveeeee candles, especially soy. Soy candles burn cleaner and down to the end but you must trim your wick even wood wicks. I also like that there is travel size makes it easy to burn wherever you go! I cannot wait to take a candle class by this company and make my own candle with my own scent. I actually was introduced to this candle company by visiting a coffee shop in South Park, THE SCENE formerly known as Resistencia new owner new name. Burn your candle tonight

My gal pals insisted we come to Noir Lux to make our own personal candles for my birthday. It was a great recommendation. This business is black women owned - WOOT! I was blown away by how immaculate the place was, and all the good music playing. Located on Warren Pl S/ Denny Way, you will need to find street parking or a garage nearby. The ladies greet you as you walk through the door and confirm your appointment. They will provide instructions on how to start your session while we wait for the rest of the group to arrive. You start off by choosing your vessel(s) you want and choose a spot to sit at the table. Vessels range from about $20/ea and up. Each spot at the table will have a beautiful tray with everything you will need to create your candle(s). They carry about 100 scents to choose from during your session, along with coffee beans, hand sanitizer, and paper towels on the table. I really enjoyed their pineapple sage scent. After you've filled your vessels with oils and wax, the ladies will take your candles and set them aside for you to come back and pick up in an hour or two. If you don't have the time to wait, no problem. They can ship it to your home for a flat fee. My only con was that the oils in the bottle were a bit messy. Maybe gloves could be a good addition to provide on the trays for everyone. DO NOT RUB YOUR EYES. They will burn, so be cautious. We came back after an hour and a half to check on their retail store next door and grab our finished products. They have ready-made candles with super cool names, and our candles came out great! Don't forget to snap a photo behind their gorgeous backdrop and tip the ladies. They do a wonderful job. They're very patient, the flow of instructions are on point, and may I say, overall, their services are superb. Support your local businesses and stay litty!

Was worried about my scent combination but turned out well and look forward to using my candle.

Note: located on Warren Place south of Seattle Center & not Warren Ave in Fremont! Well that was very nice & easy to do with friends! How fun to pick out my candle vessel from a large variety and then to sniff so so many scents, maybe 50+scents! Whole experience was $62 for a large candle but the customized candle became a souvenir of my good time here. Was worried about my scent combination (approx 70% gardenia, 25% sea salt breeze, 5% eucalyptus) but it turned out well! I look forward to using my candle each night! Was told it's 25% off if returning to make another candle reusing this candle vessel. Service patient & professional! Located -on the east side on Warren Pl between Denny Way & 1st Ave. Parking found street parking just across the street (luckily at noon on a Friday)

The scents were amazing and the staff was very knowledgeable and friendly. They have a wonderful playlist and allow you to bring snacks and drinks so it's great for groups.

My personalized and ready-made candles...I couldn't choose so got them all!!!

Noir Lux is a relaxing and most enjoyable experience. Its location is ideal, it anchors a a mix-used building with parking options in every direction. Once inside, your olfactory senses comes alive but not obnoxiously overwhelming: it's just perfect. See for yourself... book a session! You are greeted by owner-entrepreneur Colina (and my dear friend) and another staff member - maybe Facilities Manager aka Colina's Mom or Whitney, best friend/Marketing-Social staff. After you pick your supplies, you are instructed to re-center oneself and prepare for mini self care session. Noir Lux's ambience also heightens the overall experience. It truly does...your session isn't rushed and makes sense because there are so many oil scented options. I am literally still sniffing my hands because all the different oil scents are still lingering. I haven't mentioned the retail store! Can't make up your mind as to which scents to commit to, you can purchase ready made candles in all kinds of vessels. Perfect gifts for any occasion! Go and book a session for self -care, birthday, retirement, office retreat, etc. today, you won't regret it. I love each personalized candle I made today!! Best wishes for continued success dear friend! Sissies and I plus kiddos and/or work group will be coming back soon!

This is how everything looks when you first start. Mine are greasy looking due to from home with oils still on them.

I love Noir Lux! It's a surprise I have not made a review on it! Omg they have car fresheners now that you can make!!! Ok, this is like my 4th time here and they have a rewards program now! Even MORE excited to go back! This is a black owned business with super duper amazing beautiful women working there!!! They have such great attitudes and are always there to help. I have a friend who is obsessed with some oil I bought in San Diego and they looking up the notes for her and helped her create a candle in that scent! Just SOo helpful! So, the class is about an hour. You have to pre-sign up online and it's only $10! You pick from a plethora of jars (if you bring your Noir Lux jar back to refill you get a discount). I did the refill this time, I refilled four jars haha. This is how OBSESSED I am with making my own candles! They have over 150 scents to pick from, they help you start to finish. Now the place is beautiful inside and smells so lovely. It's so calm and welcoming. Like if you died and went to heaven, I want it to smell like that! Lol It takes about an hour or two for your candles to dry so you can visit the few shops around including their shop next door with premade candles and other other items from Black Owned Small Businesses. Support that people!!! Anywho, you can either return to pick up your candle or have them shipped to your home. Best place ever! They do birthdays, Bachelorette parties even Divorce parties haha! Any occasion, they got you! Love this place!

    The aesthetics were so pretty

My aunt planned a private session for a total of 9 of our family members, and it was such a wonderful experience. We had so much fun! We got to pick the vessel, mix-and-match different scents and watch our candles come to life! Jessica and Brittany were such gracious and helpful hosts -- we asked them to take way too many pictures of us lol. There's also a retail section where you can purchase candles that have been made already, AND there's an amazing rooftop where you can book outdoor events when it warms back up. I'll definitely be coming back!!

I know Elm Candle through work and remembered some of my work colleagues coming here to do a team bonding event. My girl friend was turning 30 and said she would be doing a birthday activity here! Our scent specialist, Mikey was super helpful! They had everything prepared for our ladies to partake in the session and the instructions were on the card which was super cute since it also had a 'Thank You' at the back in support of their small business. You put your name and select which item you want to make. I chose a room spray since I have SO MANY candles at home! Mikey had us choose which container (room spray only had one kind) but candles had a variety. I wanted to make the reed diffuser initially but they were sold out! Next, they had a variety of scents on the wall so you could write those on your card and star your faves! Coffee beans were provided to help with your nose since you smell so many scents! Mikey was so patient with all of us and walked us through the process! I was super pleased with my scents. He evaluated each of our cards, asked us what kinds of scents we are into, and then gathered 3-4 essential oils to smell -- you can mix and match. You can omit one or add another depending on your preferences. We left with cute little bags! It was such a wonderful experience! It's a little pricey but definitely worth it.

We're always looking for something different to do instead of the usual dinner-and-a-movie routine, and this totally delivered. Vanessa and Jon made us feel like we were hanging out with friends who just happen to be candle experts. Jon's storytelling at the beginning was unexpectedly immersive he took us through the history of candles with this meditation that actually got me relaxed and present. Then Vanessa shared her story about starting Pumarosa, and you could feel how much heart she's put into this business, honoring her mom and her time in Venezuela under a Pumarosa tree, where those cherished memories began. The hands-on part was so fun. Smelling all the different scents and trying to pick just three was tough because they're all really, really good. My husband and I chose completely different combinations, which made sense for our personalities. Pouring the wax and getting the technique right felt like a little accomplishment, and now we have these custom candles that we actually made ourselves. I went back two weeks later to pick them up (you can also have them shipped), and of course I grabbed a few more. Vanilla, Cashmere, and Eucalyptus are my go-tos now. Whether you're celebrating something or just want to try something new and creative, I can't recommend this enough. It's thoughtful, hands-on, and honestly just a really nice way to spend an evening. Thanks for everything, Vanessa and Jon!
