If you want pound cake, this is indeed the place! They have a whole variety of flavors that you can…read moreget as a loaf, half loaf or slice (most popular is apparently lemon blueberry). Not a pound cake fan? No worries! There are also scones, mini quiche, mini pot pies and cookies to be had. If you're walking through downtown with your dog, there's a walkup window; otherwise you can go inside and order at the counter. There are several tables if you want to enjoy your treat here. They serve Two Brothers coffee, a local brew. The cinnamon chip scone I got was huge and delicious! Will definitely return for future baked goods.

Mixed feelings. Read on to find out why…read more.. My husband brought home the lemon and vanilla pound cakes, and a chocolate chip scone. The lemon pound cake had the faintest hint of lemon, and it tasted more like lemon extract than fresh lemon. (No hint of the zestiness that comes when using fresh lemon). Definitely lacking in flavor. The icing on top was the best part of the cake. The vanilla one tasted like vanilla, but still didn't have as much flavor as I would have hoped. I would have liked the icing on this one vs powdered sugar. The texture of both of the cakes was rubbery. You can definitely tell these are baked with margarine vs butter. Both texture and flavor would be better if real butter were used. Now let's talk about the chocolate chip scone. OMG! Delicious! If I were the owner of this store, I would call it the Scone Bakery! Texture was perfect. Flavor was perfect. I will definitely return to this store, but I will be getting scones, not pound cake.

The cake was very reasonably priced. The staff was very friendly when I came to pick it up. I ordered funfetti with vanilla buttercream. It was very sweet and delicious! The whole party seemed to really enjoy the cake. There are so many options here such as cookies, cupcakes, chocolate covered strawberries. I definitely can't wait to try some more of their baked goods here!

I followed up three separate times after the event to share my concerns and received no response at all--which really shows how little they value customer service. * I didn't receive the full list of cake flavor options until four days before pickup, and when I asked to switch flavors, I was told it was already too late because the cakes had been baked without confirming my choice. * I had a confirmed pickup time of 10:30 a.m., but when I arrived, I was told the designer went home sick and the cakes weren't finished. I ended up waiting until 11:45 a.m. for them to be decorated, which explains the rushed design. * The cake pops weren't ready, so I had to cancel them and run to another store last-minute to find replacements. * I specifically requested pastel colors, but the cakes were decorated in bright colors that didn't match anything we discussed. * The design and quality were extremely disappointing--the decorations looked rushed, the frosting was hard, and the smash cake wasn't even edible for its intended use. Overall, this was an unprofessional and frustrating experience from start to finish. Between the poor communication, lack of accountability, low-quality product, and complete disregard for customer concerns, I strongly recommend going elsewhere. They clearly do not prioritize quality or customer service.

After watching a Netflix show on Mexican treats, I had an itch for Mexican baked goodies. I…read moreremembered El Dorado since I used to live nearby, although I had never tried it. Since I have some dietary restrictions, I called ahead to ask if they used lard or animal fat. The gentleman explained that they use vegetable oil and margarine. I decided to pop in and check it out. The gentleman was very friendly and further explained the ingredients to me. It's very small inside and no seating, so it's take & go. Aside from baked treats, they do also have drip coffee. The way it works is, you grab a tray and tongs and pick out what you like, then they box it up. I went with a chocolate concha and a rice pudding donut. Both items were delicious! The concha sweet bread was light and fluffy, which was a welcome surprise, as I expected it to be dense. It was only $1.09. The rice pudding donut also had an interesting texture (i.e. crisp exterior) and tasted great. It cost $2.05. Not a huge selection, but if you're looking for a sweet tooth fix and want to try out something different, give El Dorado a shot.

When…read moreyou walk in, you'll see bakery goods on the right, desserts straight ahead, and Mexican bread by the counter. I ordered a dozen tamales. It's about $24. The price has gone up since some of the previous reviews that said it was $16 or $20. I also ordered one chocolate Mexican bread that was a dollar something. The food was good but I'm not a fan of overpricing. I might stop in again to look at the other bakery items. You would put the items on a tray and bring them to the register. I wished they had a wrapper that goes on the tray before putting the items on. You can't tell if the trays have been washed or not.

(Turn on your speaker for the vids to get a better sense of the environment.) This place is more like an institutional cafeteria in decor, activity, and high ambient noise with too many hard surfaces making for an unsettling experience. Don't come here thinking you're going to quietly ease into the day with a cup of coffee and croissant contemplating the meaning of your existence. The floor plan at this location more closely emulates its major French-inspired competitor (also corporate South Korean) and a much condensed bakery offering than the Naperville (Ogden Ave.) location. You pick your own goods from various cases and get your coffee at the counter. The counter service has a disjointed workflow and they can't seem to get to the point where you leave the counter with all of your order, having to wait for your coffee or some other item. They then yell out (yes, yell) your name over the background din. You have to go up and ask if they just said your name. It's actually sort of funny, and a bit annoying. I do have to say the food itself is actually pretty good but nothing near what you would actually experience in Paris, but still good, flavorful. The coffee holds up to scrutiny as well. Though Tous Les Jours seems to offer consistently good everyday food quality, this location, overall, due to the noise levels and semi-sterile environment, resulted in an unenjoyable experience--I would not be back to this location as there are too many better alternatives.
