I've been here a few times and finally decided to write a review. The Junction location is cozy, and is a prominent spot for Italian cuisine in the area.   Their menu offers delicious dishes that well reflects Italian cooking. While I've generally enjoyed all the dishes I tried, I was disappointed with the pizza here. The pizza crust was good, but the center of the pizza was very soggy and thin, making it hard to pick up, and I'm just not a fan of "wet" pizzas. The atmosphere is inviting though it can get quite busy and loud during dinner service. However, lunch hours are much quieter and relaxed.  The restaurant recommends walk-ins, but recently started taking reservations for larger groups.  The service here is good, and the servers are friendly.  They also have patio seating along the sidewalk during warmer months, and a dining room downstairs for private events. read more

This is our 3rd time coming here and was utterly disappointed when we dine here today. The quality of their food has completely gone downhill and food proportion was not at all what we expected but at the same time everything on their menu seems way overpriced. Since we tried their Calamari Fritto before and loved it, we decided to order this dish again. For $19+, the Calamari was okay but portion was not enough. We got maybe 14 pcs. which consist mostly of small size squid and was surprised that the serving seems smaller than before. To add insult to injury, we saw the table across from us ordered the same dish but instead they got a heaping plateful of Calamari. Makes you wonder if this restaurant is playing favoritism to some customers... Same issue with the Carbonara pasta, serving is not substantial. It was also way too salty but we still managed to finish it as we're hungry. The L'Americana pizza is just meh and nothing gourmet about it. Crust is soggy and not crispy as we like it plus there is limited toppings on the pizza. We also had an awkward and uncomfortable interaction with our server Polina. When it was time to pay, I took out my RFID credit card holder and she complimented me on it. I told her I bought it in Paris. To which she replied "I hope you're not referring to Paris, Ontario," I didn't even respond to her since for me this implies some form of discrimination and couldn't be bothered to deal with this kind of treatment. Inspite of this, I still gave her a good tip coz it's the right thing to do. I used to recommend Nodo to families and friends but won't be doing this anymore nor will I come back again to this restaurant because of aforementioned experiences. read more

I was so excited to dine at Nodo tonight. My friends just moved to the junction and we have been waiting to come here. The vibe was great but music was a bit loud. I had the duck ragu pasta and it was yummy. My friend had the gnocchi and loved it. His wife had a salad and lamb skewers. She loved it at first but found a hair in the lamb. Overall I would have given this place a 4 but need to lower rating due to hair. I would come back to give it another try. Staff were great! read more

A great option for an Italian meal! I wish I had a enough people to take down a 7 course meal from Nodo, everything was to tasty! We started off our meal with the Spiducci D'Agnello which consisted of 5 lamb skewers accompanied by a gremolada (which is a green sauce like a chimichurri). The lamb was seasoned really well on its own with big hits of salt that teased the tongue and were varied with dips into the sauce. Our next course was the Ragu D'Antara which is a pappardelle with slow roasted duck. They use fresh pasta, as to whether it is made in-house, I'm not sure but it was the perfect texture. There were a lot of meaty fall-apart pieces of tender duck which was really yummy. The last item that we had was the Zocco pizza which featured four cheeses, some mushrooms, and big dollops of a pomodoro sauce (white sauce base though). The crust was super good! I'll definitely be back to try more of their pastas. I had the pappardelle with duck ragu which was well portioned and seasoned nicely. The service was also very attentive and friendly. The restaurant is too loud. It's really almost overwhelming. Conversation is difficult. The service we got was good, personable and efficient, but they're turning tables to make some money, so chop, chop. It's expensive, there's no avoiding it. Regular people can't really afford to eat here. Nodo earns four stars because the food was great. Everything we got was really solid. My friend recently moved to the Junction area and we decided to try this place out. Unfortunately, we didn't have a great experience. I was the first to arrive and there were quite a few empty tables on a Friday evening. The hostess said that she'd seat me when the rest of my party arrived (understandable). 5 minutes later, another customer came in (she was an older woman) and said she was waiting on 2 other people. The hostess sat her down immediately, which was a little weird to me but I didn't want to cause a scene and didn't ask about it. When the rest of my party arrived, it took them forever to seat us as it was getting busier and they were slightly understaffed. The food itself was good but the portions were small for the appetizers. We ordered the burrata and octopus to share. The burrata salad tasted fresh but for $20 it wasn't worth it in my opinion. Likewise, the octopus was chopped up into tiny pieces and served with potatoes. We each had about 2 tiny bites of octopus. However, the most disappointing part of the meal was the main. All four of us got the duck ragu pappardelle and I was surprised that it came with tomato sauce. The pappardelle itself tasted fresh and they were generous with the duck but too bad they were drenched in tomato sauce. I've had amazing ragu sauce at other places before and this was overwhelmingly disappointing despite it being one of their best seller. I don't think I'll be coming back here anytime soon. read more

Heard this joke while I was at Nodo - Why are a lot of Italian men named Tony? Because when they migrated over to the states, they wore name tags To NY. This is a cute cozy restaurant with great food and service. I came for dinner with a group of 6 and had a great time. There are many great options on the menu including soup, pizza, calzone, mussels, octopus, rigatoni, and gnocchi. Complimentary bread was brought out with olive oil after we ordered. The food took a while to come out, but it was delicious. Arancini $9 - These were more like rice cones, crunchy on the outside and cheesy on the inside. Pappardelle $19 - This duck ragu ribbon pasta dish was excellent. The meat was like pulled duck, flavorful and tender. The sauce went really well without everything. Street parking on Dundas is free on weekdays after 6p. I was able to find a spot across the street when I am for dinner on a Wednesday night. My friends and I made a reservation here at 5:30pm as I heard that this place gets busy fairly quickly and we were seated immediately and as we left, there was a short line forming. Service here was amazing!!! The servers were very pleasant and were very informed with the menu and answered all the questions we had about it. I ordered the margarita pizza, named as "Regina pizza" on the menu. It was very good and I enjoyed my time here as it was a very splendid experience and I am glad I came here since I do not eat Italian food that often. read more

Had a great lunch with my mother in the Junction last weekend at Nodo! Most of the restaurant looked a little dark, but we sat by the window, which was lovely and bright. The arancini was easily my favourite. Super crispy on the outside, hot and flavourful on the inside. The tagliatelle with duck ragu was fine. I didn't find that the pasta was al dente, but it also wasn't soggy... but I don't know exactly how to describe the texture, but it was pretty springy. The flavour was good. The pizza was good too. Pretty good crust and sauce. Another favourite was the bread pudding with housemade banana gelato! The gelato was super flavourful, so for anyone who likes bananas, I would recommend this. Came on a weekday evening with 2 of my friends. The restaurant seems small and the sound level is more on the loud side. The goods: - Trinacria rigatoni - well balance of flavour. Ingredients were really fresh and pasta was cooked to al dente. - New school gnocchi - fried gnocchi which was crispy and did not get soggy in the sauce. Nutty, creamy and overall flavourful - Tiramisu - soft and light! I was in the 'hood and stopped by for a nice lunch. Service is casual, not overly attentive...which is fine. Some lupini beans / fresh bread with EVOO arrived before our food. Both were nice! Prices were in around $20 for pizza/pastas. The pizza was polished off, but I ate about half the pasta. It's a healthy portion! Between the 2 dishes, the Rigatoni with Veal Bolognese sauce was the clear winner. Pizza was good too, thin, chewy with a slight crunch! We came here for a private baptism lunch and OMG the food was AMAZING! I ate things that I typically don't and I loved it. For starters, we were served this really refreshing salad with pickles veggies and a light vinaigrette dressing. We then moved on to lamb skewers and pizza with prosciutto and cantaloupe. For our pasta dish, it was this really creamy cauliflower pasta with cheese. I typically don't do creamy pastas because I'm more of a marinara girl but this dish was da bomb, second servings please! For our main, it was chicken with rapini and roasted veggies. The chicken was super tender and juicy, and paired with my favourite veggies. We ordered the roasted rainbow beets with heirloom carrots and pistachio to start (it's a side, but we wanted it instead of salad or appetizers). The texture of the beets and carrots was great and the pistachio gave it a lovely flavour and crunch. We were craving pizza and ordered the Marea and the daily special (burrata with tomatoes and arugula). The crust was ultra thin - which we loved - and the toppings were fresh. Our wait was much longer than expected because several pizza takeout orders were ahead of us in the queue. However, our waitress checked on us often and explained the delay; we enjoyed conversation and seeing the pasta dishes that were served to neighbouring tables as we waited. This is by far my favourite Italian restaurant in Toronto. It has a rustic dimmed setting and very polite staff. My boyfriend and I began with appetizers: Calamari & Octopus (cannot remember the Italian name to save my life). The calamari was very light which made eating a lot of it enjoyable and the octopus came with grilled potatoes and zucchini. Moving onto the mains, the pasta we ordered were handmade within the restaurant. Our dishes were accompanied with extravagant, unique flavours that definitely sets the tone for Nodo. The Caramel Bread Pudding was our dessert choice and wasn't overwhelming and contained just the right amount of sweet and tasty. Overall great experience, great staff and amazing food!!! This place is gold. Solid gold. I am a huge Terroni fan and have not found an Italian place in Toronto that comes close to it. Until now. This is the real deal. The food is epic and the service matched it. The pizza and pastas were absolutely fantastic. We also had a ceasar salad and the octopus . Nothing disappoints here. Huge shout out to the ownership and the wonderful people who work here as well. Overall the food and drinks were delightful. The Crispy artichokes and the modern Gnocchi were tasty and well made. My mojito was unique and balanced with the chamomile grappa. Prices were fair too! Decor was cute with a cozy modern twist. Food runners were also courteous. Reason for the 2 stars is because the service makes me not want to return. Our cocktails arrived well after our appetizers. Our Server was not personable and very cookie cutter. He checked in with us on our Entree once then disappeared for 45 minutes passing us by countless times. Dirty dishes sat on our table for a long time and when he finally dropped off the dessert menu we already lost our appetite. I spent $27 for Uber eats takeout ($17 for the pasta before tax + tip) of the worst tonnarelli carbonara I've ever had in my life. Pasta wasn't fully cooked, almost no pancetta, ridiculously small portion sizes and I'm not sure if an egg was involved. So much pepper on top to render portions of the meal completely inedible. So much to love about dear Nodo. The pastas are beautifully simple. The pizza divine. The service is enthusiastic. I'm confused by the amuse bouche of the olive oil drenched lupini beans, but no matter. Here's a little yarn as to why they deserve 5 stars and your business: After a number of positive experiences, I dropped by to order a couple of pastas to go. The bartender, who was not busy, was rude and abrasive. He punched in my order like a cashier at 7-11 and split. As he left, I said "I'd love a glass of wine while I'm waiting." Which he basically ignored. The pasta arrived in a bag by a smiling kitchen runner and I got up to leave. As I left, the manager asked "how was everything tonight?" I told him his bartender was an a-hole and was gobsmacked by how terribly he treated me. His face fell. What happened next was amazing. The manager couldn't react fast enough, saying it was entirely his fault as he hires the staff that that kind of poor behavior is unacceptable. He produced a $50 gift card and asked to have another chance to continue to earn my business. My wife and I came 2 nights later and were enchanted once again. We're loyal customers for life. The point I'm trying to make is restaurants have off nights. The management can screw up. The chef can drop the ball. We're all human. What counts is how management reacts to you IN PERSON gripe. He was a gentleman and handled us with care. Going home and giving a restaurant one star because they forgot your dessert is ridiculous. Saying it's expensive is ridiculous. The menu is on the door. Yelp can be somewhat uneven and unfair in this regard which is why we returned and gave them another chance and it was well worth it. Before you ding a restaurant's Yelp score, talk to the management in person. If they blow you off, leave them one star. But in this case of perfectly executed damage control, Nodo gets 5. read more
