Nocterra is such a cute brewery right in the historical town of Powell. I went after a snowy day at work and felt like I had walked right into a ski lodge! It has wonderful atmosphere and the staff is very friendly. They participate in the Columbus Ale Trail so I made sure to get my stamp and also to check in on the Ohio On Tap app! read more

Hells yes! My new favorite place! Loved the vibes, great patio/deck, and damn good hard seltzers!!! Can't wait to come back to this place at night. The only beers on tap when we went were IPA's and they weren't doing flights, which was a bit disappointing. Will be back though! Looking forward to trying more beers and hard seltzer's next time. read more

My favorite brewery since it opened. However, it seems to now have become the new Chuck-E-Cheese of breweries. Entire porch and indoor area reserved for kid birthday parties, all while advertising a pairing event. I'm all for family friendly, but Wow, it was crazy! read more

Stopped by the other day to check out for the first time. Nice vibe overall. Only Ray Rays food truck available but hey who can complain about that! Didn't get thru all the beer list so another visit will happen soon. Would be a great vaist when the weather warms up. read more

Great outdoor seating very conscious of the current Covid 19 pandemic. Would like to see a little more variety of beers on tap but their beers are very good. Ray Ray's hogpit food on site. Excellent job by the staff making sure you are seated and taken care of. read more

The beer is good, but what I really like is they way they have tables set up. As I checked in, they assigned me a table, took my credit card, and even sprayed it off when done. They have great distance between tables. Good time if you want to get out read more

This was my first visit to Nocterra and it was amazing! Very inviting, cool vibe and friendly staff and clientele. Highly recommended! read more

Nocterra Brewing - James in his squirrel suit celebrating Arbor Day. #happyarborday - Breweries Near Me - Powell, Ohio

This is my favorite place to enjoy some awesome beer in the Columbus area! Great atmosphere, and the beer is amazing. I love the Space Godzilla, Beta Flash, Phase 2, Scioto Coast, Bus Eater, all of the Swell Lines, Tree Well, Tjikko, Onsite, and basically all of the others! I've had great times learning about all of the passion that goes into their beers from all of the staff - what a great crew. read more

Visited or the first time this past Saturday afternoon. Walked in to see elementary school aged children running amok around the bar with no supervision or discipline. Other patrons seemed frustrated by this as well. A woman made a comment regarding this and was overheard by the drunk father who made a scene. This drunken fool then threatened violence towards an older gentlemen, who seemed amused by his threat rather than intimidated by it. He topped off his drunken rant by squaring up with a woman who was half his size. All the while encouraged by his wife, who seemed to behave with the same level of maturity as their children. At no point was there any intervention by management or staff. I am unsure if they didn't know what was going on, or didn't care. The persons taking orders did seem busy. However, if this is the typical clientele that frequents this establishment, its unlikely that I'll ever return. Sad, seemed like a nice place. Beer wasn't bad, but not good enough to endure that scene. read more

This place was as "okay" as it gets. When we first arrived the employee was pretty rude/snappy about where we should be standing, despite there being no signage on where to go & him ignoring us up until that point. Thankfully we got a table and our drinks pretty quickly; said drinks were average. I think on a sunnier day & with more friends we might make a trip back in order to take advantage of the full patio, and potentially a better experience. read more

Great place if you're looking for a daycare. Way too many kids taking tables. Hire a babysitter.

Loved the large, grassy, outdoor area! Super cute little twinkle lights and lots of seating. Felt like I was enjoying beers in a friend's backyard! Loved that I could have my dog out back with me also. I enjoyed the different beer selections & will definitely go back to try more! read more

Nocterra is a newer brewery on the Columbus beer scene. It has a fantastic location in downtown Powell - slightly off the beaten path by the train tracks. They have parking but also have signs to indicate additional free parking in the area - this is very helpful. The location is massive! The inside is dark with some cozy nooks and there is a wrap-around porch, green space, and tables with umbrellas. They have a food truck out back certain days of the week. The venue was very family friendly with toys, a chalkboard wall, and plenty of space for kids to roam. They do not have very many beers on tap. I tried their saison that is brewed using Ohio-only ingredients. I appreciate the local aspect but the flavor was off. My husband had an IPA that was also just okay. We both only drank half our beers. They need to offer more pour sizes - gone are the days that people will want a 16 oz glass of a beer from a new brewery. They offer flights, but we honestly did not want to try more than those two beers. Nocterra is a lovely way to spend an afternoon outside, but I won't return until they have more beers on tap and smaller pours. read more

Trying to be so pretentiously hip, they can't even fix the sh;thouse! Only one working stall for such large place, and an attitude to match the size. read more

We made a mistake and tried this on a Sunday. The beer was excellent but the atmosphere was full of small toddler age kids which we were not expecting to see at a brewery. Will return but only on a week day. read more

Went there for the first time on Friday July 5. Will never go back. Out of the 100 and something people there most were under the age of 2. I have nothing against kids in public in general, but there were so many, and the parents weren't parenting, that you were tripping over them because they were just running around. 3 people behind the bar. You had to order your beer and get back in line while you're drinking that one, and by the time you get back up to the bar you're ready for the second. I understand that this could've been an exception but unfortunately I happened to be there. If you have small children and want to drink this is the place for you! A great environment for it. You will enjoy yourself. And that way you're not where I will be. read more

Not the best experience at Nocterra. Went on a Saturday evening with a pretty large group (ended up being about a dozen of us). We got there early so we could get a table and were ordering drinks and food. After about an hour and a half, someone from the brewery came over and told us that we weren't allowed to sit there because the table was reserved. There were several other tables that had reservation signs on them that we intentionally did not sit at but this one didn't. When we told her that she said well it was supposed to be. We said that wasn't our fault and we weren't going to leave. We all still had full drinks and plenty were still eating. The woman was incredibly rude and really put a damper on our evening. While I love the drinks here, they need to work in their customer service and have a better system of ensuring tables are reserved properly. read more

So many great beer options and a beautiful beer garden. I need to come back to Nocterra to try more beers because they have a lot that sound good to a picky beer gal like myself. I believe they have food trucks almost everyday if you are in the mood to eat as well. I love that they offer fun events all the time here, kid friendly ones too! read more

Great place! Love the atmosphere. Reminded my husband and me of a place that would be out in Colorado. Love the outdoorsy theme and the beer is really good! We will definitely be back! read more

So so beer and poor service. Great BBQ food truck, seems to be a regular staple. The beer is pedestrian but overall good. The biggest negative is the rude gentleman working the bar. Not super friendly to start which is fine but walked by at 530 with a piece of paper stating the table is reserved for 6. He literally said you have to leave in 30 mins. No warning whatsoever. Fine for us as we were leaving anyway. But the large group next to us had to move. I understand that there are events but could have been done much more tactfully. read more

Delighted to see lagers on the list. Highlights so far are the Terra Java coffee stout and the Swell Line Goses. The former is easily the best coffee stout I've had. read more

Love the vibe but we were there fo 3 hours and stood in lines for 1.5 hours, time I couldn't catch up with my friends. Fgure it out. Open more than one line for drinks if we have to serve ourselves. I won't be back. read more

Great beer! Cool place to chill with friends. Come here every time I'm in the area. Gose's are spot on and NEIPA's are very nice.

What a fun space! Our kids had a blast with all of the available toys and we absolutely loved the beers we drank. Will absolutely be back soon. Such a welcoming atmosphere! read more

Great! Went on a sunny Saturday afternoon in early December. Drank a pale ale and an Alt beer, both very good. Ray Rays food truck on grounds is great beer/bar food and relatively inexpensive. Outdoor beer garden is fantastic...even in cold weather with fire pits. Wonderful polite service as well. Two trains passed in three hours and added a unique touch to very cool outdoor atmosphere. read more

The beer is admittedly good, but I'm not a fan of the day care environment. I'm practically tripping over children just trying to get up to the bar to order beer. If you have a hoard of children whose manners are more McDonald's than fine dining, you'll love this place. If you just want to chill and drink beer in child-free peace, this place isn't for you. I look forward to this brewery canning so I can get their beers without the overwhelming amount of children's birthday parties occurring in the tap room. read more

We are so excited to have Nocterra in Powell. We especially appreciate that they have created a family friendly environment, as we have a one year old. We have visited both with and without him, as well as with friends, and have had equally as great a time each time. It's great to get out and enjoy their unique beers while enjoying the outside area with our family. Thank you! read more

The beers were great. Their Scioto Coast Double IPA is delicious (and strong), and the New England IPA they make is good as well. My wife had the coffee stout and enjoyed it as well. Can't wait to go back when it's warm outside to enjoy the beer garden. read more

My absolute favorite brewery around! Best beer, in my neighborhood, friendly, great patio and ascetics and food trucks. Only complaint is parking and always busy. read more

My wife and I stopped in on Sunday 2/3/19. The beers are very, very good. The building is beautiful. We had a flight of assorted styles and a couple glasses of the 'Scioto Mile'. The beer deserves a 5+ rating....!!!!! Unfortunately the service was not 5 stars. One would think that sitting at the bar itself would minimize 'empty glass syndrome'...nope. We honestly felt a little invisible at one point. My wife thought we were being snubbed for some reason. It was a little bit odd. Still trying to figure it out. Hopefully the staff was just overwhelmed and things will get better. The taco truck was great though! Its service was quick! Not sure yet how often we will go there. The beer is very very good, but it got to be like Chuck E Cheese after awhile with lots of children. While I know that is 'hip' right now, I don't go to breweries/taprooms to be around other people's kids (or my own for that matter!). And no, I don't want to have to sit in the back keg room just to enjoy a beer in peace. I make no apologies, there are simply too many great breweries & taprooms in the area that are not teeming with tykes. BUT hey....Nocterra beer is very, very good! Scioto Mile is wonderful! read more

Scioto Coast is a fantastic DIPA and is up there in quality with some of the "big name" Ohio craft breweries. I'd also recommend Phase 2 and Beta Flash if you're into IPAs. A cool space and perfect for summer or fall nights. read more

We were initially impressed by the atmosphere, especially the outdoor patio area where we preferred to eat during Covid times. The beer selection is very good. We also enjoyed the wonderfull bbq food truck. Our reason for being at Nocterra was to celebrate our oldest son's girlfriend and her Masters Degree & certification as a licensed dietitian/nutritionist. We also traveled from the Akron to play vintage baseball in Westerville. Our son and his girlfriend spoke very highly of Nocterra. Our overall experience at Nocterra would have been decisively excellent, however, it was not. This was because of the two couples sitting next to us along with their 4 pre-school age children. The parents at table 39 enjoyed many beers while the children threw rocks, yelled and ran around the trash can and nearby fence. The parents did little to address these issues, as did Nocterra employees who regularly walked by that area to grab the sanitizer spray bottles and dispose of trash from other tables. We are very much a family-focused group, however, there's a time and place for young children to run around, and an evening at a Craft brewery is not one of them. To top-off the experience, one of the kids had a smelly DIAPER CHANGED ON THE TABLE while we were eating. I shared this info with the person who seated us and the person who ran our credit card. Hopefully, steps will be taken to ensure things like what I have listed here will not happen again at Nocterra. read more

Absolutely love this place but we ordered two pours of the Night Leash but was given a different beer. great beers, fun events, not a fan of tons of kids at times, but it is powell. The sours are really top notch and the inside & outside spaces are beautiful read more

This is a brewery and the beer is good. The beta flash was a unique but drinkable IPA. The service was good and the space is open and casual. The outdoor area has plenty of seating and space. There was a food truck available during our visit and it seems like this is pretty common which is nice. They also have chips and other snacks behind the bar. read more

Meh. Gave it a few tries but average at best. Also multiple occasions the food truck hasn't been as advertised, just some "we're not really trying because we're the only thing here bbq". Least the outdoor seating area is nice and big for your kids to run around. read more
