1-Star Review The…read moreservice was horrible, especially considering this was my birthday and I had a party of approximately 23 people. This was not my first time visiting Kobe House, and I really wanted my entire party to experience and enjoy the hot pot, but unfortunately, the experience was very disappointing. From the moment I arrived, I did not feel welcomed. The staff was very unfriendly, and the host seemed completely unprepared to handle a large party, even though we had reservations. There were meats being placed on the table without anyone explaining what they were or who they belonged to. That is a serious concern, especially because someone could have a food allergy or dietary restriction. We also had multiple people asking for the all-you-can-eat items that we were paying for, but the food was not being brought out in a timely manner or wasn't brought out at all. What made it even more frustrating was seeing staff members sitting in the booth while our party was still waiting for food and assistance. We had to repeatedly ask for things that should have been handled as part of the service. My party spent close to $1,000, and the level of service we received did not come close to matching what we paid. I understand that a party of 23 can be challenging, but that's exactly why proper planning, communication, and attentive service are important when accepting large reservations. I would NOT recommend Kobe House for a large party. I really wanted my birthday celebration to be a great experience for everyone, but unfortunately, the service took away from what should have been a special day.

We realized that there was only one person working in the whole restaurant. We knew they did not serve liquor so we asked for iced tea,,,,NONE. We ordered water. We reviewed the laminated, colorful menu (which made the place feel like a chain restaurant.) We ordered the Philly Cheesesteak dumplings and the Crawfish dumplings. Both had obviously been frozen and then either microwaved or steamed. I took one bite of the cheesesteak dumpling and they had heated it up TOO much so it burned my lip and tongue. I waited about 5-7 minutes and took another bite. They were rubbery and, as hard as it is to believe, they both tasted the same. The steamed dumplings were better, but not by much. We will not be going back. There are other dumpling places to try.

This particular Monday night we opted to eat a 5:30P dinner in a relatively quiet, open restaurant with Kaitlyn C. as our server. Sake and water for husband and soda for myself all delivered quickly. Also ordered apps at same time explaining husband was famished. Pork gyoza showed up in less than 5 min, and our spring rolls with yummy chili sauce arrived before the gyoza was gone. Husband's Beef Yaki Udon arrived in a reasonable size bowl - no overfilling with too many noodles. I thought the beef was good quality and the cabbage was just the right amount and not too strong. The Crunchy Dynamite Roll w/soy paper and Tsurai Roll (suggested by Kaitlyn when I was overwhelmed with choices) w/sriracha on the side were the last to make it to the table but worth the wait. I'm so glad we asked for a recommendation because otherwise the Tsurai would have been overlooked - and it was the bomb! Not a cheap meal ($71.30 w/tax w/o tip) but eating out generally isn't. With that said, only had a small amount of Udon leftover which means we didn't pay for any wasted food. Plan on eating in again rather than doing take out. Thanks, Kaitlyn C.!

That was fine for me and I do understand not bringing out a chef and heating up the grill for just me. Lol. The soup and salad were delicious. This is the only place I can eat the ginger salad dressing. It's a mild ginger flavor and not full of ginger pulp like some others I've had. I always get extra cucumbers because they're always so crisp and fresh here. I ordered the hibachi chicken and shrimp. It was good per usual and it comes with lots of food. I will say, the fried rice was less flavorful this time but still good. I had more than enough to take home and have another meal. The restaurant is large and is sort of dim, but that works for me. The server was attentive, kept my tea refreshed and I really appreciate her adding ice to the refill without me having to ask. I'm always surprised at how many think two cubes of ice will cool off warm tea that was just brewed.

Sushi, noodle salad and more...great comfort food. We found out they relocated to the old Gretna neighborhood near the Courthouse recently so why not see how things are now in their new digs? Walking in, we noticed a big difference. In the previous spot, they were in a strip mall where they were small and intimate. In their new location, they have more space and a separate area with a bar. I think this was previously occupied, but on the eyes it can be a bit confusing. Within minutes, we were ready for ordering. For apps, we both ordered noodle salad, one of our favorite dishes. Sophia said the aftertaste was like mayonaise and I noticed the difference too. Maybe the mix was a little strong, but it was good. For the main course, I ordered baked salmon rolls which consisted of baked salmon fillet wrapped around snow crab filling and we shared fried fish cakes with wasabi sauce for dipping. Everything was delicious and just like previous times after moving away, made us feel like we were back home. However, the reason why the rating was 4 stars was due to the lack of intimacy the new location offered. It looks gorgeous, but again, the presence of intimacy seemed a distant memory. We sat next to a group who was a little loud and inebriated, even though they weren't harming us. A situation like that at the previous location would never happen. Sophia mentioned the same thing too as we left. Would we come back? Yes, but maybe during lunch where it's less people. We'll give them some time in this location.
