It was lunch time on a Saturday in February, but a beautiful day outside that we decided to have it on the front patio. The server brought us menus and waters. This is going to be ordered every time I go here from now on! The jerk spice has a serious kick, but so worth it. We also got Falafel to start the meal and the two pieces on top of a salad that was refreshing. My daughter got the Chicken Shawarma and ate the whole thing. So, we were in town for a short two days - a memorial for my father…read more We live in Los Angeles (Pasadena, specifically). We try to live a very healthy lifestyle, food wise. It's annoyingly hard and expensive. It's not snobbery, it's purely trying to eat healthier foods with less chemicals, etc. Our family member recommended Melissa's and me not being a vegetarian, was kinda skeptical. We opted to try this out - when in Rome... It's a small, cozy place. Staff were really nice. Menu was surprisingly large for a small Wyoming town. The five of us all got different things - lots to choose from. It was all AMAZING! Everyone, including me, loved it. It was fantastic, and portions were large! But what shocked me was the bill. Now if you're from somewhere else, it may not feel this way, but being from LA, the bill was about 1/2 of what I thought it would be. Given it was very affordable, we left a very generous tip as the staff was great. We can't wait to go back one day. There are also other fantastic little eateries (ice cream, etc) there that we likewise enjoyed. Two thumbs way up for Melissa's. Thank you for a great meal while away from home.

He brought us a water bowl for the dogs, and he gave us a ton of recommendations on the menu as well. For our meal, we started with the dolma and kimchi pancake. The dolma was great, but the star here was the kimchi pancake! It was crispy, flavorful with the dipping sauce, and so delicious I wish we ordered 2. For our entrees, I had the General Tso's cauliflower which was the best fried cauliflower I've ever had. They were sooo extremely crispy and very flavorful! You can't go wrong with these or the cauliflower wings. The sauce on this was a tad spicier than I normally like that day, but that did not bother me given how delicious the dish was. My partner got the lettuce wraps which had a yummy tofu scramble that we also really enjoyed. Overall, I love the concept of comfort vegetarian food that Sweet Melissa offers, and I am so glad we stopped by here. The portion sizes are great, and I forgot to mention the great cocktails we had too! I would definitely come back if I'm in town again.

Despite the self service model, the staff were all very friendly and happy to help if you needed anything. I came pretty close to their closing time, but didn't feel like I was being rushed out. The menu is not strictly vegetarian but has about as many vegetarian options as meat options, mostly featuring tempeh. Vegetarian options are easily veganizable by removing cheese or replacing it with avocado. I was having trouble choosing between the veggie reuben and the veggie steak sub, but they had run out of sauerkraut for the reuben, so steak it was. I thought the steak sub was delicious. Tempeh has a totally different texture from steak, but it delivers the savory flavor you want in a cheesesteak. I also got a slice of cheesecake with a swirl of raspberry or strawberry jam. It wasn't particularly memorable, but it was good. The interior of the restaurant is really cool. There are a few different rooms. The room I was in, where the ordering counter is, had this sort of jungle theme going on, with a mural and decorative furniture. There is also a larger dining room, a patio out back, and a bar, which appears to function somewhat separately from the main restaurant but doesn't show up as a separate location on any map app. If approaching from the south and looking for the restaurant, walk past the bar for the restaurant entrance on the north end of the building.
