The food is amazing. My wife and I showed up 30 minutes before closing. The waitress was very kind and didn't mind at all. We each ordered the gyro platter with the lamb/beef mix. I had the potato wedges as a side and honestly everything blew us away. The potato wedges had a ton of good seasoning and flavor. The gyros were loaded and juicy. People rave about the fries here so I had to try them. I was curious so I asked the waitress how they prepare the fries and she said they come frozen they tasted ok but I don't understand the hype. They taste like they have a very light batter on them that increases the surface area to make them more crispy (but also more oily). The falafel salad costs like $17 but they only give you 4 little falafels! Might as well get the meat! I get that inflation is rampant but does this salad look like it's worth $17??? Service was super quick. I came on a Monday around 4PM and it's pretty slow. Waitress was friendly. They will sit you first. Parking was easy lots of spaces. I was looking to relax but the cooks/workers were watching videos on their phone loudly and it was very distracting Feta on the rice was a nice twist. The size was pretty big I had leftovers. I ordered the chicken Souvlaki kabob platter. The chicken was juicy and seasoned nice. Waitress was so nice. She kept checking up on me and just had a really nice demeanor. The restaurant is very open, a lot of natural light. I saw someone working here which I would agree would be a nice place as long as it's slow and the workers on blasting their phones lolol. read more

The service was awesome. We were seated and served promptly and with a great server. The fries were really good. Disappointed there was no saganaki on the menu. The olives were very weird and gross and I tried two to be sure I didn't get a fluke bad one. I usually love Greek olives. The feta was not the greatest, chunks would have been better. The gyro meat on my salad could have been slightly more browned as it was mushy but it still tasted good. Portions were decent. The tzatziki and salad were on point. I never leave reviews but I wish I had read what I'm about to write before deciding to go here. I think their food is bought in bulk from Costco and heated up in the kitchen. It's not restaurant quality- I'm actually very confused because the photos looked great but what came out was totally different. The chicken looked like it came from a rotisserie chicken from the grocery store and the veggies were steamed broccoli and carrots from a frozen bag. The hummus could have been used to tile a floor it was so thick and flavorless. Again I never leave reviews but I wish I would have known this before- the food was the worst food experience I've ever had. The good: solid lunch spot for a quick and fresh tasting meal. The gyros salad is large, hearty, and healthy especially for the hose of us who prioritize high protein/low carb meals. The bad: the interior and menu need a serious renovation. The restaurant feels like an outdated 90s diner that is only catering to senior citizens. At a minimum they need to refresh the decor, the tables, and get the caddies with condiments and sugar packets off of the tables. What is with the huge, unused bar counter space at the front of the restaurant? The food and menu need help, too. We don't need a 2 page, small font menu to explore how many ways you can serve us gyros meat. Cut it down and make it look special. The food is lazy, too. My kid won't even eat the soggy, pathetic, precociously frozen fries. Try harder to make some good hand cut fries to serve with a gyros wrap. The hummus looks and tastes like any you would buy from a supermarket. If you're a Mediterranean restaurant maybe try to make some awesome homemade hummus for a table to share. It's fresh, warm, has a drizzle of oil and fresh herbs on top and it's served with some warm pita and veggies. Then you tell us how good your homemade hummus is right on top of your menu. Really really wanted to like this place....and I believe they actually may be better than my recent experience. Service was excellent and prompt. The restaurant was clean, with a decent atmosphere. I ordered a beer and it came right away...ok selection. I then ordered Souvlaki Kabob Platter with chicken...so chicken may not be in the menu (I can't remember), and may be the reason it was very dry and not really edible. The flavors may have been ok, but really couldn't and didn't eat it. The salad that came along with it was ok, but didn't finish it. I guess what was annoying was that the kitchen staff was horsing around which may have lead to the extra dry chicken. I ordered fries...they were coated. Nothing wrong with them...that's just not the way I want my fries. Also ordered dolmades...I'm sure they weren't, but tasted like they were microwaved as the stuck to the paper on the plate and fell apart. Not a great experience. Almost a year into a pandemic, most restaurants have mastered takeout... vent your good gosh darn fries! If you put hot fries in a styrofoam box the condensation makes them soggy! I appreciate hot food but a melted styrofoam container with soggy fries was disappointing! There was a decent amount of meat in the gyro platter, however the olives don't have the pits removed and the feta allotment was laughable. The falafel balls are half the size they should be and even though I ordered extra pita we still wished for more pita. My family and I have been coming here since they opened, and even before when they were Runzios at foothills mall. I grew up on this food. Its delicious, amazing quantity, and great prices. Dont come without ordering the gyro meat, always. That and the tzatziki sauce together are like heaven! You'll never leave hungry. That food was enough for 5 meals (which I did HAVE to share with my family). First of all, during Covid when our area was under a mask mandate absolutely none of the cooks at this restaurant were wearing a mask. This is irresponsible and dangerous at a place disseminating food to people. In addition, the food was not fresh and had obviously been sitting under a heat lamp. The falafel was ok and the only reason they didn't get a 1. It felt more like a hospital cafeteria or something like that rather than a proper restaurant. My husband and I stopped because we wanted lunch. There are several restaurants in the area, so we did a little walking and checking things out. This place was popping, so we thought it would be okay to take a chance. I've been to Greece, and I like Greek food so it seemed like a good move. None of the food was authentic. The saganaki had a weird chemical taste as well, which the lemon did nothing to dispel. The French fries seemed to have been rolled in fish batter before being fried: crusty in a way they shouldn't be. One doesn't need to embellish the amazing potato. I don't need extra starch on my French fries. No one else I know would make this complaint, but I had too much chicken on my gyro ( I know: my own fault for ordering chicken ). There was almost no lettuce or onion or anything but a big full scoop of boiled bland chicken on a soggy chemical pita. Our waitress was nice. Hence the two stars. This is a miss for me. Called to attempt to place a to-go order. Was taking a rather long time, so I headed to the restaurant, still on hold juuuuust in case they picked up the phone (so that I could try to avoid some of the wait, as I assumed they must be slammed to have me on hold so long), and walked into the (*EMPTY!*) restaurant, where all three on-duty employees were standing around the bar area, basically twiddling their thumbs, *with me still on hold, on the phone.* I asked, somewhat loudly into my phone, if there was some *reason* I was still on hold. Oh boy, did I get some deer-in-the-headlighes triple-stares with that one. The guy rapidly picked up the phone and put it to his ear, and I said "uh huh" and hung up, before placing the to-go order in person. I sat and waited in the (totally dead) room near the bar for over 10m for my "giant" order, consisting of two whole gyros and a fry (which incidentally, they actually managed to forget some of) before one of the staff came over with my bag of food, who then, as an afterthought as she went to chivy me out, "so generously" offered me the drink that APPARENTLY COMES WITH THE MEAL I'D ALREADY PAID FOR... wait, what? Like, you couldn't have at least asked what drink I wanted at the beginning and let me sip on it while I waited for my (ultimately incomplete) order? I was so irritated by the end of the whole thing that I even walked out without my change, as I'd paid cash and they were trying to hurry me out with my food. Ugh. Now I have to go back. Edit: got my change. Sorry, no $13 tip for you. No, I didn't bother telling them they'd forgotten to put some of the order in, because I didn't feel like letting my temper loose, and I was far too close to losing my cool at that point. Next time, offer the drink immediately and more importantly, DON'T forget and leave someone on hold (in your *ENTIRELY EMPTY, UTTERLY DEAD* establishment for the entire space of time it takes to first wait, and then give up on waiting and drive from Harmony and Taft all the way to Harmony and Zeigler during lunch-rush traffic. That's a long freaking time to be on hold, guys. Won't be going back any time soon. New to Yelp. First time post: Cafe Athens in Front Range Village. When this restaurant first opened, we eagerly flocked there. Good Greek food (which we love and dearly miss) is in short supply in FoCo. At that first visit, we felt food wasn't quite up to our standards and we didn't return. Today, I was out and about, searching for dinner to feed my familia and my husband suggested giving them another try. So many years had passed, I decided he might be right. I arrived, looked at a menu, and placed my order. It arrived fairly quickly. I was secretly impressed. I paid and left, only to arrive home to discover that I was missing an item. I called and asked for a partial refund since my order was incomplete. Had Cafe Athens acted in good faith and fulfilled my request, it would've amounted to a $17 refund and simultaneously restored my faith in them and cemented future patronage. (I must admit that the food had improved.) Instead, I was transferred to Tara (a Cafe Athens employee) who told me that she wasn't authorized give me a partial refund, but that she would instead credit my card for the missing item ($10) and refund an additional amount of $20 so that I could "feel better about myself." When I expressed discontent (astonishingly without profanity or insults), her snide response was that she was sorry ifelt that way. This faux apology is code for 'sorry, not sorry.' Her comments were designed to humiliate me and put me in my place. Cafe Athens management, I hope you read this and retrain your staff to treat customers with care and respect. I will be stopping by Friday to discuss this further since Tara pretended another call was coming in and promptly hung up on me without getting my card number or name. I had a very unsavory experience here. I'm Asian from Cali. I have only ever experienced positive racism there. Looks like people in Fort Collins see me differently. I walked in and nearly EVERYONE stared at. Staff looked at me horrified. This one man never stopped glaring at me, even as I glared back. The message I got was "YOU don't belong here". The many videos of Asian hate I've seen ran through my head as I stood there angrily and terrified of my safety. Other patrons stared at me too, in a very unwelcoming way. I have read about the bigotry in Fort Collins. I am surprised it's this bad I really hate to write a bad review as this isn't a review about the restaurant itself, it's a review about my experience at the restaurant. The food was good, but the "hated foreigner" experience I got was not worth it. I'm not even a foreigner. I'm here because America bombed my parents country and had to apologize by offering them citizenship. When I walked out, I walked past the man that refused to stop glaring at me.
