I had been meaning to try Fox Den for a few years now. It gets good reviews and I've heard good things about them. Just a couple days ago a friend mentioned Fox Den was one of her favorite coffee places. I guess it was just a little out of the way for me. I didn't make my own coffee this morning on purpose. We were going out to get coffee and a bag of whole beans from one of my favorite FC coffee shops. I suddenly realized I could use this opportunity to finally stop by Fox Den. The SO asks if I want to go there instead. I say yes, but with a little hesitation. I mean how good can this place really be? Will it live up to expectations? Does the "No Waste" theme come at the cost of compromising coffee quality? Upon entering the cafe, I see a wall of mugs to choose from. I pick the Mickey Mouse one. I place my standard new coffee shop order-a cortado and drip coffee. The barista taking my order says that's his favorite mug. The drip coffee comes first. I chose the light roast. It has mild acid, barely perceptible bitterness, and nice smoothe coffee flavor. I really can't ask for a more balanced cup of coffee. One of the best drip coffees I've had in a cafe. My cortado is up. The barista apologizes for his subpar latte art. It's not that bad. Consistently good latte art is not as easy as some baristas make it look, and baristas are allowed to be human. Besides, this is not the Louvre and art is not what I'm here for, no apology necessary. This cortado is excellent. The high quality pulled shots of expresso shine through the nicely steamed whole milk. I have to know which blends they used in my drinks. El Zorro for the cortado and Foxy Gal for the drip. I compliment the other barista on the shop's coffee. She humbly tells me, "the shots are pulling well today". Typically, when I get my usual cortado and drip coffee, one is better than the other, even if slightly so. Not today. Today both are of equally high caliber. It is a good coffee day. read more

This place is 100% waste free which is a great concept but something you should be prepared for especially as an out of towner. I didn't think to bring a reusable cup with me so I was left to purchase a to go jar as part of my coffee purchase. The coffee is more for die hard coffee lovers where I found it a bit bitter, but that's just my personal preference and should not deter you. It was also a higher price than the other shops in town but there's the rising cost of coffee and it's Colorado where stuff just costs more. Overall cool neighborhood spot and the baristas are knowledgeable. read more

This is a super cool place. Atmosphere and service are great. Love the focus on sustainability. The little market place of sustainable soaps, oils, etc is awesome. Pastries are great too. Here's the challenge: The coffee is meh. Over several batches, the beans are over roasted. It's still way better than Starbucks, but leaves room for improvement. read more

This place is fantastic! My husband and I stopped in to cool off and caffeinate on an incredibly hot Monday. I was able to snag one of the few parking spots they have out front that had a view of the adorable patio that runs alongside the building. If not for the heat, we would've absolutely posted up there! Air conditioning greeted us as we entered the building. Thrifted chairs and tables line the room, with a small bar area that seats four (thrifted stools). We went to order at the bar - Vanilla Latte with oat milk for me and a regular latte with oat milk for my husband. They don't offer regular milk to lower the use of animal products - you won't find any dairy here! Their baked goods section offers vegan options of quesadillas, sandwiches and pastries. We stuck with the lattes this time and grabbed a seat at the bar. The lattes were delicious - mine wasn't over-sweetened, which I was fully prepared for, but instead had just a hint of sweetness with a fragrant vanilla aroma and flavor. They offered a turmeric-coconut blend that they were unfortunately sold out of, but I'll be trying that out next time! I also love that they roast in house - we plan on bringing a mason jar to try a few ounces in the next week or two. With their no waste theme, they offer squares of fabric in lieu of disposable napkins, and if you want coffee to go, you can either bring in your own container or purchase/rent one of their glass mason jars. They also don't use toilet paper in the bathroom, opting for fabric squares that you put in the hamper - I KID! COMPLETELY JOKING! They utilize biodegradable toilet paper in their adorably decorated restroom and offer clean fabric towels that you put into the hamper after drying your hands. Once the temperature dips below 90 degrees, I look forward to enjoying another icy latte on the side patio in the shade! What a wonderful place! read more

First time visiting The Fox Den and I experienced terrible customer service. One of the employees with dark brown hair took my order and was very rude. Seemed like she didn't want to be there or serve anyone. Also, employees are way too disruptive with their loud behavior and chatting. If you want to read or enjoy a quiet time, I would not recommend staying. The coffee was okay but not worth the price for a small latte with no flavor. I enjoyed the ambiance of the shop but it is very dirty and no one seemed to be worrying about keeping up with cleaning the tables during my visit. I had to clean my table myself. I was hoping the burrito I ordered would be good after the disappointing latte, but the burrito was very soggy and gross. It took over 20 minutes to receive my burrito and I sadly couldn't finish either. Overall, I did not have a great experience and wasted my money. read more

The Fox Den: No Waste Cafe and Roastery is a fantastic new addition to the Laporte and Taft Hill corridor. Side shoutout to Stodgy Brewery for helping make this part of town more inviting and hip! Fox Den has a little bit of everything for everyone. Their espresso and tea drinks are wonderful! We tried a dirty chai, a regular latte, and a matcha. They are also committed to no waste and only offer alternative milk options for their drinks. As for food, they have a nice selection of hearty meal options as well as baked goods. They also offer plenty of vegan and gluten free options. Other highlights - Their baristas are incredibly friendly and helpful. They have great indoor and outdoor lounge space with lots of nice shade coverage. And they have a great little shop inside that is solidly committed to upcycling and no waste. Items range from thrifted clothes to art to a "refill bar" for shampoos and soaps. Do yourself a favor and check this place out! read more

Great addition to the area! The previous reviewer did a great job covering the mission of this brand-new coffee cafe and how they implement their philosophy in day to day operations. They call themselves a "no waste cafe and roastery". Their coffee menu offers black coffee, expressos, cappuccinos, and lattes (lavender, rosemary, sage, and vanilla). They have a good variety of black and herbal teas as well. If you're hungry, fresh pastries and some sweet paninis are available. Lots of power outlets with a variety of seating, even cafe-style on the sidewalk. They also have handmade items, such as earrings and lip balm. Keep in mind there's no dairy, so you'll be using almond or oat milk in your coffee. Definitely check it out! read more

Overall, I'm a fan of this place. It's definitely shabby, not chic. But it's got its charms. Love the no-waste approach. Staff are friendly. My major complaint is the pricing: $7.50 for a large latte $6.00 for a scone $8.00 for one egg on toast And they also use volunteers to do things like refill their bulk coffee, put labels on jars, etc. I could understand the high prices if they were employing a bunch of folks. But I'm here at 11am on a Thursday, and there are three staff and four volunteers. Hopefully those volunteers at least get some free coffee. It's close to my house, so I'll come back occasionally, but it's too pricey to be my go-to coffee shop. read more

The Fox Den has it all. It's a comfortable and one-of-a-kind atmosphere, with wonderful baristas and very good house-roasted coffee. The space is thoughtfully arranged. There are tables (and WiFi) for working, comfy chairs and a couch for meeting and relaxing, and stools at the window and bar for singletons. I have sat in each of these areas, variously musing, studying, or meeting with a friend, and always enjoying the coffee. The Fox Den has fast become one of my favorite spots in FC. read more

Coffee was pretty expensive and I understand that's due to material used to to help recycle for environment. Barista or cashier was asking me if I didn't want to use the jar that only a mug was available and that was for dine in only. I asked for to go cup but I didn't realize that wasn't an option and I understood that after he explained it. Problem I had was the guy responded very condescending like I was supposed to know and then at the same time didn't even smile or acknowledge me anymore after I placed my order. Coffee was decent and but the overall customer service was extremely horrible and he was the gu y with long hair who tied it back. Didn't catch his name nor cared after. The other person making my coffee was cool though. Will definitely not return! read more

A new internet/coffee/pastries café just opened here in Fort Collins, CO .....wOOt! An eclectic little café devoted to the socially overdue objective of as minimal waste as they can achieve. They have mugs you can "rent", or you can bring your own. No stir sticks; they use real spoons that you get from a Clean glass, stir your coffee, then put it into the Dirty (Used?) glass...truly a single-use system. The seating area is a wonderful mix of all kinds of overstuffed chairs, wooden benches, delicate metal corner tea tables and chairs...just watch out for the human-eating red velvet chair; you tend to sink deeply into it! (I swear, I heard slurping sounds the first time I tried it out). A couch for you and two friends? They've got it. Paper plates? Nope. Delicate china saucers for your pastry you got, to go with your coffee. When you're done, just put 'em in the bus tub at the front counter. I really support the sustainability efforts of this little coffee shop I was a little disappointed in lack of cleanliness especially on the floor. Also the lemon poppyseed muffin I had was a little dry and probably several days old. however, the Cappuchino made with oat milk and a muffin my wife had was excellent!
