She instantly greeted me and my boyfriend and asked if we needed assistance. Later on as I was skimming through the clothes, I asked her if she knew any tops that would go with a skirt I had. This is one of my absolute favorite clothing, stores of all time!! The quality of their clothing is amazing and last forever. Their jeans are always the right size and stretch for me. Very upset! I purchased a super cute pair of black tights with hearts on them to wear to an event tonight. When I got home and opened them, they had a big run in them so I can't wear them. I called the store and let them know the situation and that I was just there less than an hour ago. They said there's nothing they can do. Have shopped in Huntington Beach store with no issues. Ordered, online, for my daughter's birthday and had it shipped to her. Called HB store to inquire if gift receipt could be included in case she needed to exchange. Referred to Costa Mesa and gave me a number to call. I called, left message and I still haven't received a call back! Sure enough my daughter went to HB to exchange, not return, just exchange and was told impossible...the item had to be credited to the card used to purchase online. What a mess. Now my daughter has half of her birthday gift and my card hasn't been credited. This is no way to run a business. I am one who prefers not to be bothered when I'm shopping, but at the same time this one young girl was walking around slamming clothes on to the racks & walked past me didn't say a word to me. There were three associates in there not one person acknowledged me. I was there for 20 minutes so plenty of opportunities. It's a small store. They were helping people in the fitting rooms and seemed nice when I checking people out. But ladies come on... I myself have worked retail for 5 years & everyone should be greeted in a timely fashion. Some cute clothes for sure but I couldn't bring myself to purchase from the store. I normally don't write reviews for clothing stores unless I received horrendous service, but NRFB is an interesting one and I've got time to write a review. Firstly, their clothing isn't in-house-- it's purchased through other vendors, which makes the quality hit or miss, especially in this day and age. A quick inspection of the materials tag on most items reveal that their items are primarily vicose and/or a blend of polyester and cotton, which means that while their clothes have a very luxurious and incredibly soft handfeel, they will turn rough and wrinkly if you don't have the patience to wash on cold & line dry. Some of the vendors they source from are markedly more lax in terms of QC and you'll see a few things like shoddy stitching and loose threads. In other vendors, you'll be pleasantly surprised to notice that they provide a liner in their sheerer pieces (especially dresses), something that even higher priced brands fail to include (and which drives me crazy when they don't.) So in terms of clothing, it's slightly higher quality than F21/American Eagle, obviously more curated, and some of the clothing lines NRFB carries will be higher quality-- look out for those products. I've had two bad run-ins with NRFB clothing (a blouse shrinking beyond wearability even washed cold & a pair of loose flowy pants turning into a wrinkled mess), but now I know what things to purchase from them, so I have a little more faith now. Secondly, the customer service isn't as bad as some people make it out to be. Honestly, it's a matter of personal preference. Some people here like to be waited on hand and foot and it's obvious that they expect that treatment everywhere they go, while others like me absolutely don't mind that the salespeople have their own conversations and would prefer to do my own thing until I go up and ask for help; I hate salespeople who hang over you like an ominous cloud. So take those reviews (and this one in terms of CS) with a grain of salt; I find the sales associates perfectly warm and friendly when you engage with them. read more

First and last time I will shop there. The selection was great but the service is not good. After I had worn a tank top (which I had gotten 3 in different colors) I noticed that there was a flaw on the neckline. I immediately got in the car and went there. One of the salesclerks remembered me since I had spent quite a bit there on Friday and I told her my problem. Her first response was do you have your receipt? I said no but I thought because she had remembered me that it would be no problem. Now she wanted to know if I had the tag from the garment. No I threw it away when I wore it. Sorry due to our POS system you must have the tag. I think the owners should know that it is not good customer service. I'm not one to complain and I said can't you use the tag from another top? NO. Really cute finds in here! The Newport location is bigger but you'll find great things at both! The only reason I gave 4 stars is the quality is not 5 stars. However, the prices are great for what you get. It won't be stuff that lasts forever, but great items you'll get a lot of wear out of making the items affordable. I cringed at even checking out giving them my money after how horrible they were to myself and three friends. Ok, Love love this store for mainly two reasons. 1. Proximity to my casa (walking distance) 2. Cheap clothes, that's cute. And not trashy. I love that I can run in here before my yoga class and/or on my carboholic trips to Shirley's. The staff is meh. Decent, fairly priced, trendy clothes. Unfortunately the poor attitude and bad vibes from the staff detract from the shopping experience here. Genuine courteous service takes little effort. Giving directions and making comments with negative, rude undertones is completely unnecessary. There are 100 different ways to phrase "put your no items on this rack" or "we only take cash." The staff here left me feeling uncomfortable and I won't be returning. They did not greet us nor help one of my girlfriends when she was struggling in the dressing room. I had to go and help her get another size in her clothes. Both women were expressly rude when it came to any interaction and I felt bad even giving them my money. I ended up buying two items but one of my girlfriends who is Hispanic felt very uncomfortable. One of the white blazers I was trying on had what looked like makeup on the lapel. I brought it to her attention a few times and she never offered to try & remove it or give a discount. As much as I like the clothing and it's a great price range, I absolutely hate going into this store. The customer service is absolutely awful. Every time I walk in, even when I am the only customer in the store and there are multiple employees on the floor, NO ONE ever even greets me. The employees (at least all of the ones that I have encountered over the years) do not smile, they are very rude, make me feel uncomfortable, and do not have professional attitudes. "No Rest for Patrons" is what is should be called. This do not have a manager conventiently right now so I wasn't about to contact anyone else but the two girls behind the counter, Montana and Paige were very unhelpful and condescending. I had a receipt, trying to return a jacket within the time allowed. Never been worn but the tag was off. These paper tags do fall off. Anyway, they said they "would have" made an exception if the tag had been on which didn't make sense. They said if I didn't have a receipt but had the item with the tag on they may have made an exception. Still makes absolutely no sense at all. Obviously Pagie and Montana could care less about my opinion but I want to write about them anyway. Silly to have no manager and they wouldn't give me the owners information. O.K...I'm rating two stars for one reason and one reason only: HELLACIOUS CUSTOMER SERVICE. I've shopped here for years, both in this location and in the one on the Peninsula. NRFB is pretty much a Forever 21 but they also stock some higher end candles and things like Butter nail polish. My teen nieces love it here and I've gotten them both a few things that they have loved here. I've also picked up a few things for myself like maxi dresses, scarves and jewelry. The problem in here is with the super unfriendly sales help. Here's the thing: when a customer hands you a credit card, DO NOT hand it back to them by just putting it on the counter! Please show some common courtesy and hand it back to the customer by placing in their hands!. How would YOU like it it a customer handed YOU a credit card and instead of actually placing it in your hands, the customer put it on the counter and made you pick it up off the counter???? Another thing: At the end of the transaction, please ask the customer if she would like the receipt or is it OK to put it in the bag? I always file my receipts in my wallet and I don't want them in the bag. While we are on that subject: when handing the customer her purchase DON'T just say "Here you go"...please say something like...er I don't know...how about something like "THANK YOU"!!!! Geez...I simply cannot believe that the young woman working last night was so utterly clueless about how to treat customers. Customers are the lifeblood of any business and and ANY business lives or dies by REPEAT BUSINESS. NO business wants a customer to walk out the door thinking: "I will NEVER set foot in this store again". Also, when you need to stop what you are doing to ring up a customer don't act like you are being bothered or put out. I realize that you need to put stock back on the floor, but ringing up a PAYING customer is the main reason you have a job. I realize it is the Christmas season and and the sales help in any store at this time of the year is over worked and under paid. How do I know this? Well, I have worked retail in my broke-as-a-joke college student days. I worked retail year round, not just Christmas but I know Christmas is the WORST for a retail worker. They get rude customers, they work long hours and they get paid squat. For these reasons, I am always nice to the retail-hell downtrodden. I'm not a customer from hell prima donna, I just expect a little politeness, respect and common courtesy. To the manager at NRFB: Hold a sales meeting PRONTO! Go over the basics of customer service. Stress the the importance of smiling, being polite, how to return a credit card to a customer, and telling customers "Thank-you, please come again"! I had never been in here before, but got their catalog in the mail and liked what I saw (especially the prices). Since I was running errands nearby, I decided to stop in. I asked one of the sales girls if they had a particular item in stock, but she noticed they were out. At least she told me they get new merchandise every Tuesday. I figured I'd call the next week to see if more of that item came in. Since I was already there, I figured I'd take a peek at what else they had. I found a really cute bag that I was going to buy. Note the past tense of that. I brought the bag up to the counter, got my credit card out, and waited....and waited.....and waited..... No, this was not the sales girl who was helpful and attentive to me a few minutes earlier. This one was way too preoccupied with getting a knot out of one of the necklaces they were selling. I figured that my standing there eyeballing her, credit card and item on the counter would have triggered a thought of, "this customer wants me to ring her up!" Sadly, it either didn't compute or she didn't care. After waiting several more minutes and getting no response whatsoever, I put my credit card back in my purse, put the bag back on display and walked out. Where is the common sense and customer service? I hope the manager is ok with losing the immediate sale of a bag over getting a knot out of a necklace. Of course, it goes beyond that -- she just lost a customer (and maybe more due to word of mouth). I absolutely will not frequent a store with bad or non-existent customer service. And, I'm sure the overhead/rent in that particular strip mall location can't be too cheap. Based on my experience (and the experience of others reviewing this store), perhaps management better wake up and find some help that brings in and maintains the customer base. If the current girls aren't working out, there are plenty more who would happily take their place given the current job situation. read more

I recently decided to stop by and check out the store. Well, it's not all that amazing. I will admit that the shop has cute accessories. But, the clothes didn't do much for me. I did however buy a blouse that is poorly made. But being that I am nifty with the scissors I had planned to cut it up and tweak it up a bit. I would stop by this store to see what was new in the accessories department but not so much for the clothing. Oh... Regarding pricing.. Some things were a tad over priced. Service.. I frequent this clothing joint, splurging on last-minute outfits and irrestible dresses I can't leave the store without. This is your typical, 'cute-for-cheap-one-stop-shop' if you need an outfit and don't want to overspend. I have found some really cute dresses and tops here so far. The only reason they lack 2 extra stars, the sales girls need some work on their customer service. Of all the times I've been here I don't remember being greeted when I walk in or offered help while I am browsing. I really liked this place, but I'm not ready for a 5-star rating until I go there more often. Although I was able to find a few things, there are just a few of each piece, meaning the small sizes run out quickly. The quality is a little better than Forever. I say this because I've found some incredibly well-made things at Forever, but you have to dig! Here at NRFB, you don't have to dig as well. It's a small shop but it's not overcrowded. They carry BB Dakota, a line found at Nordstrom, but they also carry other lines I've seen at small, inexpensive boutiques. I am definitely going back. It was a really nice location near other cafes and restaurants. Shopping at NRFB can mean a really nice Saturday brunch and a stroll amidst beautiful weather.
