I discovered this boutique for the first time today. They were having a 50% off denim sale. The shop is so cute, well lit and well merchandised! There were so many dresses I fell in love with, but were sadly above my budget. I also found a cute shirt with a Johnny Cash lyric on it, but was shocked it find out that it was $88 (for a cotton t-shirt). So, come to say, while this boutique is very cute, it has very high end prices, and some of the prices didn't match the quality for me. The selection was fabulous, and if it's within your budget, this place has some amazing clothes and accessories! Oh, and just a note, I did love the cute snacks on the bar cart when you walk in, as well as the snacks down low for kiddos shopping. Super cute. read more

SUPER UNFRIENDLY. AGAIN. I hate having to write bad reviews... but after the second time coming in here, ready to buy some holiday gifts (and of course some things for myself)... I was not greeted once, walked around for a while shopping looking at certain items (loved the hats by the counter!!) and still not one person said hello or said anything to me at all and that was with 3 people working!!! 1 walked by me 3 times and said nothing, 1 at the register didn't speak a word (even when I walked up to the counter -wanted to see what candle was lit behind the counter- and smiled) , and 1 (in all fairness) was towards the back... cure stuff (LOTS of stuff in that store!) but will not go back again. The staff is super accommodating to me when I arrive. They spend plenty of time trying to find me the right item(s). What's great is they know my wife, her size and her style. This store is adorable with a great selection of jeans, booties, dresses, tops, purses, hats, tote bags and jewelry. I saw so many things that would make great gifts. I could spend hours in here browsing around but then I would spend way too much money! The sales help here is great, they ask if you need help and then let you browse around to your hearts content. I follow the Common Thread IG account and the owner updates it almost everyday with the cutest outfits that make me want to buy, buy BUY! The prices are reasonable for a Newport/Costa Mesa area boutique and the selection is fab, there are always lots of sizes in every item. The parking here can get tricky especially during the weekend brunch time zone because lots of people flock to Plums for brunch. Go to Plums for brunch & then walk over to Common Thread and shop around while hubby holds your purse = a perfect weekend morning/afternoon. I can't say enough good things about this store!! Everyone and I mean everyone is so dang helpful. I went today for their denim sale and I picked out 3 things to try and they picked out the rest. I walked out with 7 items and I'm obsessed with them all! They make shopping for yourself a dream and will style you for whatever you need! Taylin is amazing but Courtney is soooo helpful! Beautiful dresses and items. Friendly and helpful staff. Big issue is the 14 day return policy for store credit. I was ready to shop with credit from my returned dress but I was beyond 14 days so they wouldn't let me return it- I was three weeks out from purchase date. Kind of hard to return a dress that didn't work for a trip while managing multiple kids with summer schedules. I'll only shop if my schedule is clear to return any unwanted items within 14 days. This is definitely a barrier for someone who is trying her best to get it all done. read more

This business ripped me off as a merchant bold face lied to me . I ate $170 in a pair of jeans that I was told the waste band would stretch ... I am of perfect weight . Paddler and surfer .. I was pacified out the door questioning the waste band never told nonreturnable once worn as I walked out wearing them . Then I called following day bc I noticed they were still tight afraid to wash and was explicitly told to not dry in a dryer ( which is absurd with jeans ) and if that didn't work BRING THEM BACK " .. whereupon I brought them back to work something out and was repeatedly told they once worn were not returnable ! Lulu looked me right in the eye and denied it all she spoke to me on the phone and assured me it would be ok.. as her coworkers lied saying they were witnesses. I am a grown woman business owner . While I was pregnant last year, I passed by this place in a strip mall on 17th a few times while visiting a NB-based client. This was my second time around being preggo, so I'd held on to a lot of my maternity stuff, but regardless, you always want to fill in with cute tops and things. And so, I had a few minutes to kill and wandered in. The clothes they have are upscale and nice from what I'm sure are great designers (I was used to shopping at Target to that point, since I wasn't wanting to spend a lot of money on clothes I'd wear for 3 mos or so.) Here's the bottom line: pricey, trendy, well merchandised, high-fashion. Caveat: I swear to god, if you're carrying heavy or put on more weight than you expected (as I did both times,) avoid making yourself feel all hormonal and poopy here since 90% of their stuff is for those skinny bitches who gain 25 lbs. total (are you KIDDING me right now?) Did I say skinny bitches? I meant those lucky expecting moms who somehow manage to look great all the way through their pregancies wearing designer clothes and then lose all the weight they gained in the first 6 weeks after they deliver. No, I'm not bitter. I didn't end up finding anything I could squeeze either of my hocks into, so I left convinced that they didn't make anything for preganant women in my size. Common Thread constantly saves me! Most of the time, I just don't have the time (or energy) to get to south coast or fashion island. I love this shop! From when I walked in I was greeted so kindly and asked if I needed help. Which I always do in clothing stores! This time I was shopping for my baby shower dress and the ladies who helped me grabbed a bunch of dresses of all styles that could fit my small stature and I was ready to start trying everything on. I really like all the different styles of clothing here. And the clothes are not just for while you are pregnant. The dress I found I can wear when I no longer have a baby in my belly so I'm thrilled bc it's super cute! The prices are affordable and I loved a lot of items but was good and only focused on my dress. I could have done a lot more damage though. I am sad that they don't have a website. Since I do not live in the area I won't be able to come here again any time soon. They also have other super cute baby items there as well. read more

Worth the drive from south OC!! I discovered this adorable boutique today in a quest for some bump friendly summer dresses and was super impressed with the quality of merchandise and the willingness of everyone in the store to help pull styles for me! Their prices are relatively reasonable but what I love most is their inventory. I joined the VIP program for $50 per year that gives you a 25% discount on the first and last day of the month. I am starting to order so many things because all their brands and try ons and social media stories/links are so awesome and visual when you are so far away. 3.) My friend and I just had to go in and we were hooked!! We must have been there for an hour! They were having a sale and found some dresses, blouses, and Dolce Vita boots!!! They have limited jewelry but you don't need more than the Gorjana fine jewelry!!! The store was well lit, clean and organized! The ladies were very helpful and were quick to reserve a dressing room once we had a few items in hand. I had a Pretty Woman movie moment. I walked into the store with the intentions of buying something . I had an hour wait for my phone at Verizon. I overhead the sales lady joyfully greet a customer. I noticed she saw me and she said nothing . So , I continued to shop around with no one greeting me or asking me if I needed help but I continued to hear the blonde older sales lady wearing a jean jacket on Friday August 25 continue to greet customers. ( I say older because the cashiers looked as though they were either teenagers or in their 20's. ) I decided to walk near her because maybe she didn't see me the first time . So I watched her watched me and she literally looked at me and turned her head! Wow! I felt so uncomfortable and so I left . Please visit Olivia's Interior Design and Accents a few stores down. Beware the return policy is store credit only. I was shocked because it was not clearly stated and I made it clear I was a first time customer. I was pushed into giving my private information but not told about the lack of return policy. I was treated poorly and one person who worked there laughed at me. I got a gift from a friend that was purchased here and I came in to swap out a couple items for different colors and at checkout I had a balance of $2.15 as credit. I asked the gal at the counter to just give me the cash back and after talking to the owner they denied my request. Its a LAW that if a credit is under $10 and a customer requests it paid back in cash that you have to give it. I pulled up the law information on my phone and showed the sales clerk but she still refused. It's $2.15, there's nothing in your store I could even buy with that and it's against the law not to cash it out. I discovered Xpecting when the hubby and I went to Plum Cafe for breakfast. After breakfast I went to check out Xpecting and saw that they sell the UPPAbaby Vista here and it turns out they do not charge for sales tax for this item...which is amazing because I've had my eyes on it for a couple of months. This past weekend I went to BuyBuy Baby with a 20% off coupon and unfortuantely it doesnt work on the UPPAbaby Vista...asked if they did price match since we were there and they had the Lindsey color (wheat) in stock. The associate there gave me a hard time...telling me I need paper proof that another store is offering no tax, he acted as If i was lying to him and I was probably never going to buy it anyways....so I told him I rather just go to Xpecting and buy it there. He just lost my business. I called Xpecting to see if they had the Lindsey color in stock and they did...just one that came in 2 weeks ago. The associate their saved it for me and my husband and I were on our way to get it. When we got there, the box was waiting for us in the store. I forgot the associate's name but she was really friendly, asked if I had just called and told us she was expecting us and our UPPAbaby Vista is ready to go. The whole thing was super easy and fast. I ended up buying the drink holder too for $24.95 (no tax as well!). Long story short....If you are going to invest in a UPPAbaby....buy it here. They pay for your tax its definately worth the saving. On another note, the clothes here are SUPER cute....because they are not really maternity clothes...you can probably just wear it even if you are not preggers. Super cute accessories and the associates are so friendly. This is not of a higher end maternity store but you get what you pay for. My husband put together the UPPAbaby Vista for us to test our last night and it was as amazing as the reviews and the demo videos i've been watching. I was reading over the other reviews of this store before I wrote mine and I have to admit that I am a stickler for good customer service. I have never had an issue at Expecting. As a matter of fact Destination Maternity, A Pea in the Pod, Japanese Weekend (now closed) all shared the same customer service policies. Returns / exchanges within X days for store credit only when the tags are on and in same condition when purchased. Making sure that the store policy is verbalized is very important, not just posted next to the register. Anyhow with that said - Daddy's this is one of the many reasons you should hire OC Baby Planner! Great store with lots of great clothes. The girls that work here are always super nice and are very knowledgeable about pregnancy and what you will need. I bought my maternity jeans here as well as some cute tops. Shopping for jeans when you are not pregnant is hard enough- so shopping for maternity jeans can be a real challenge. But, the jeans I purchased from Xpecting have taken me from 4 months all the way through to 9 months- so they are worth the price! We also purchased our stroller here because they were so nice and helpful. They carry great stroller brands and they pay the tax for you- so you end up getting a great deal. Plus, they will spend as much time as you need teaching you how to use the stroller. We made the mistake of shopping first at the OTHER Costa Mesa high-end baby store on Newport Blvd and were terribly disappointed in the customer service, so we decided to buy our stroller at Xpecting and are so happy we did. I only wish they sold baby furniture as well so we could give them all of our business! read more

I am 9 months pregnant and due in a week. The new Orbit stroller is coming out the same week I am due! I ordered the Orbit through Stephanie a few weeks ago, and was disappointed to find out that I would not actually have the stroller and car seat to take baby home from the hospital in since it would not ship from the company until a month later. I borrowed my sister's carrier so I wasn't too bummed especially once I found out that the Orbit would be coming in sooner than expected! Turns out, no, not really, and there was a huge misunderstanding between the Orbit company, Stephanie, and myself. I called Stephanie and she fought hard for me by calling her Orbit stroller contact and is actually getting the stroller in for me in time for baby!! She is awesome. There are lots of places that sell the Orbit, and I am so happy I went with Xpecting. Buttons and Bows would not budge on the no-tax, and Spoiled Beginnings would only waive the tax if I paid for the entire stroller ($900) upfront without having even seen it. Stephanie waived the tax for me and accepted a $450 deposit. I am happy, happy, happy! I read the other reviews on here and I feel like her return policy is fair. Motherhood Maternity has a strict return policy (exchange only within 7 days). Stephanie was willing to completely refund my deposit during the whole misunderstanding even though she was not at fault, and because she worked everything out for me, she saved me over $100 in shipping and tax. read more

This store was really fantastic. After giving birth via c-section to twins, the hospital was out of pumps to rent so they gave me the number to Xpecting. On my very exciting first trip home from the hospital with the boys, I stopped by there to pick up the pump and the staff was very kind, quick, and brought the pump out to my car for me. Later the pump broke and they were very kind about exchanging it and brought it to you car again since I was trying to figure out how to push a stroller in my sleep deprivation and kept running into their clothing racks and stuff. Must have been a sad and funny sight. I finally returned the pump after almost four months. I had discovered the first pump didn't break after all! I just had the attachments wrong. Oh well. While I was there the first time, I bought little swaddles to cover the boys, since I didn't realize they were going to be so huge (9lbs 7oz and 9lbs 5oz) and brought the wrong size clothes and they didn't have any socks. The swaddles were adorable and unique. They really aren't the best to use before being washed but they got us home and are my favorite out all of my swaddle blankets. I didn't buy anything else but they have lots of great unique gifts for an Xpecting mom and their clothes look adorable. read more

Excellent maternity wear and baby gear selection! Most of their clothes are actually not maternity, but they've done their homework and those clothes work really well for the growing mama. I've been there twice now. I have the cutest maxi skirts, paige maternity jeans, ruched top, maternity dress, and tops. They sell Skinny Tees, which I LOVE! They are long, one size fits all, and look great! The staff is extremely helpful and friendly. They offered my mom, sister, and I water as I tried things on.
