If you've been to the location in Tulsa, you've been going to No 2 Kitchen because this is where it all began, the OG No 1 Kitchen. This location actually looks newer and better. Why should you go to No 1 Kitchen? Simple, for good Chinese food at a relatively inexpensive price. Is it the cheapest in town? No, but it's affordable. Is it the best Chinese food in Broken Arrow? VERY POSSIBLE. There's not much in Broken Arrow. I can tell you the hot and sour soup and the triple crown in garlic sauce were both delicious. This location also has semi table service as well although most people get their food to go. Otherwise, they may not be able to handle the workload. It was more busy than some of the Chinese restaurants in Tulsa. Years ago I gave No 2 Kitchen in Tulsa a 4 stars so I have no choice but to give No 1 Kitchen a 5 stars. Why not? It just makes sense to me.

Black bean paste? I am not sure what it is and I am positive that I don't want to know how it is made. My Chinese food safety rule is, if the meal doesn't have General Tso's name on it, proceed with caution. Versions of No 1 Kitchen's "Triple Crown" meals looked delicious. I took the risk and went with the Hunan version, which has the spicy black bean sauce. The black bean sauce was rich, savory, spicy delicious. Not sweet. The meal was a big, full plate of food. A balanced mixture of fresh vegetables, loaded up with tender chicken, beef and shrimp. This was a great meal. Spicy black bean sauce, works for me. I think General Tso would have liked it. My wife went with the Lo Mein with Shrimp. She enjoyed the meal. She offered me a bite, but I passed on it. I don't like spaghetti. We also shared a bowl of hot and sour soup. It was loaded with mushrooms, tofu, egg and vegetables in a tasty tangy spicy thick broth. Very good. [[HIGHLIGHT]]This is a clean comfortable little restaurant with table service and drive through.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant stayed surprisingly busy even after the lunch hour rush.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I had dined at No 1 Kitchen several years ago. I was not impressed with the food enough to come back since. Recent reviews that I have seen, enticed me to give No 1 Kitchen another try.

Overall solid spot for Chinese dishes and some options for Japanese if you want to order at the drive-thru, carry out OR dine in. I have NOT tried any Japanese style dishes here but I have had many items off of the Chinese menu. I tell you, I'm always happy to find a spot with ORANGE BEEF!! Orange chicken is everywhere, but it's kinda hard to find orange beef. Overall the food is delicious, it's always in huge portions and you get it all at a very reasonable price. I'm okay with all of that. I normally call ahead and do carry out, but I recently dined in for the first time not long ago. In a post COVID world, it's nice to sit down and enjoy chinese food with full service. I feel like it was really hard to find for a while and I'm stoked it's back here. I'll definitely be doing it again as 1.) the food is always good 2.) it's kind of small so it's not crowded or loud, 3.) the service we got was excellent. There's nothing fancy about anything you get here, but ya know, it's rock solid, the folks work hard to make quality, yummy food and I am all about that life. I'll keep eating here as long as I live in BA.

You can get all the common dishes here but you can also get some unusual dishes that are very authentic. My grandson once ordered jelly fish. You can't get that at very many local restaurants. Another thing I like is that they have a couple of large round tables with lazy Susans. Our extended family sat at one of those tables once. It was fun putting the things we wanted to share on the lazy Susan and being able to spin it around and try what we wanted. It made for fun conversation talking about the different dishes. That was when our grandson ordered jellyfish. The restaurant is fairly small but the large tables make the restaurant good for groups. I think this would be an excellent place for a Yelp event. They have a lunch menu but you have to ask for it. It includes some of the popular Asian dishes for $9:95. They have smaller portions that come with a choice of soup or egg roll. Danny and I asked to see the lunch menu, but decided to order off the main menu. We split Crispy Tofu with garlic sauce and egg rolls. I liked the presentation of the egg rolls. They were cut diagonally and arranged nicely on the plate. The tofu dish was quite tasty. Next time, I plan to get Mei Fun. I have had it here before and loved the variety of flavors. The service wasn't terrible but it wasn't wonderful. We got our food in a timely manner, but we felt rushed to order and she didn't check to see if we needed anything or refill our water glasses. Service here has been excellent in the past. I am glad we came back to Chengdu and were reminded of how much we like it. We will be back soon.

We had a small group and were able to get a table right away. Our table had a lazy susan in the center which is great for groups. The service was efficient and our food came out quickly. Our waitress did check on us periodically and did refill drinks. The portion size of the food was good and a little salty. I enjoyed the green beans but they had a little bit of a lemony flavor that had a weird after taste. I think the Kung Pao could have used a little more heat. The price for the food was decent.
