Szechuan beef.

For the price of the lunch special, you can't go wrong. Not only plentiful, but also comes with a choice of soup or soda. My fave is the beef egg fu young. Egg protein along with some tender beef, the sauce /gravy comes on the side. As a little or all of it. The general chicken is another good one. Crispy golden chicken with tender juicy meat inside. Try it out and enjoy.

During a recent lunch outing with my son, we sampled a variety of dishes including pork soup dumplings, wine chicken (served at room temperature), spicy beef noodle soup, and pan-fried chive buns. The standout dish of the day was definitely the spicy beef noodle soup, which delivered bold flavors and just the right amount of spice to tantalize the taste buds. The pork soup dumplings and pan-fried chive buns were also enjoyable, meeting our expectations in terms of taste and quality. In terms of service, we found the staff to be attentive and accommodating, ensuring that our needs were promptly met throughout the meal. While Shanghai Bun may not be for everyone, it delivers solid food and service that are in line with expectations. Overall, it's a decent option for a casual lunch, and I wouldn't hesitate to return in the future.

We were quickly and warmly greeted by the young woman working behind the desk. She was finishing up an order and then took ours. I always stick to my tried and true favorite of Thai milk tea with boba. I would give my Thai tea a 4/5- it was tasty, but lacked a bit of the stronger/earthy flavors other Thai teas have. My husband got the pineapple tea. He forgot to request boba, so his was just the drink without the bubbles. I liked the stronger flavor of his tea more than mine. The cups were adorable, with cat shaped covers and ears popping up. If you are heading down the shore and are in the mood for a bubble tea, this is a good option. They also offer tangulu (fruit dipped in crunchy, clear sugar coating). We did not try it this time, but I will definitely be back to give it a taste. Very unique menu item that isn't found in many others places!

Everyone wearing masks, the lady that ran my credit card immediately used hand sanitizer when she handed it back, I really appreciate the effort being made here. Also, good news! The food is fantastic! Loved the dumplings and dipping sauce, great flavor in the lo mein, this may have been the best kung pow chicken I've ever had- veggies were perfectly crunchy and nice big pieces of real white meat chicken. Delicious. My only complaints is that the general tsao's they do is all white meat, which some people like, but it didn't have that crispy batter. Also, we didn't get the pork fried rice I ordered. But those things aside, I would for sure drive the 20 minutes to come back here. Really impressed.

I ordered sweet-and-sour chicken with a side of pork fried rice and scallion pancakes. To keep this short and sweet, sweet-and-sour chicken was cooked good albeit I did have a piece of chicken that looked like a penis. But the sweet-and-sour sauce was watery and had no consistency and did not stick to the chicken. The scallion pancakes were hard and overdone, and the pork fried rice was mushy and watery because it looked like they tried to revive it.

We started with the miso soup, which was warm and flavorful. The sushi was fresh and everything was nicely presented. I also liked that the menu had a pretty big selection, so there's plenty to choose from even if you're not in the mood for sushi. I came here this past Saturday for an early dinner with the Millennial Chum and Co. I've driven or walked by this place a bunch of times, and I've always liked the exterior - it reminds me of an NYC Irish bar, if that makes sense. Not what I'd expect from a sushi establishment. I will say as a caveat that it IS smaller inside than I expected; it's basically one narrow corridor, so as a result it doesn't really have an opportunity to flex its interior design muscles too much. Not really a negative per se, and not something I think they can really do much about unless they move somewhere else with more square footage to play around with. I was a little apprehensive when I looked at the menu and saw they were boasting multiple Asian genres, including the aforementioned sushi but also some Thai, Chinese and Korean. (No, I didn't realize it was Asian fusion, which would have immediately explained this.) In my experience, having TOO varied of a menu can blow up in a restaurant's face, but regardless I came to try the sushi and went right to the special rolls. I opted for the Lover Roll and the Volcano Roll. The Volcano was okay for the most part - this was on me, but I didn't realize it had jalapeno in it, which is clearly referenced in the menu. I don't mind it from a taste perspective, but I hate the crunchy texture in a sushi roll (same with cucumber, which is a sushi dealbreaker for me). It was very easy to remove, and otherwise a perfectly fine roll. I think presentation value-wise it could use something since it basically looks like a pile of sawdust with the lobster salad on top, but it didn't diminish the taste. The Lover is excellent, and I wasn't too surprised to catch multiple sightings of it on other plates as we were walking out. The optics on that one were very unique, a bifurcated heart shape with a heavy dose of predictable pinks and reds. I hadn't really thought about it until now, but my sushi taste tends to go pretty savory with an emphasis on spicy tunas and wasabi mayo, that kind of thing. This is definitely on the sweeter side, which I'm assuming is primarily because of the honey. Regardless, it pairs really well with the rest of the ingredients. One of the better new sushi rolls I've tried recently, and it doesn't seem like I'm in the minority on that one. The service was very good; the Millennial Chum has been here before and said she'd had some issues on prior visits. Thankfully not a problem on this particular adventure - everyone had plans later in the evening and we were able to get in and out of here pretty quickly, probably within 40, 45 minutes or so. The price point wasn't bad either. Admittedly I'm used to being gauged on the regular in Midtown Manhattan, but special rolls being around $15 are a treat in and of itself. I'm not going to say that this is mouth-droppingly amazing sushi, but I think you have to grade on a slight curve in this area - Monmouth is pretty much a barren wasteland when it comes to its gastro offerings so when you find something decent, it's worth noting. Nemo is worth noting.

Instead of heading into Chinatown and the sub-sets of Chinatown locations throughout the five boroughs of New York City. This is a fantastic place to dine. The ambiance is traditional. The service staff was polite and attentive. The atmosphere was pleasant and friendly And did I say the food is excellent and inexpensive.
