Ordered my usual beef and broccoli from this generally delicious and polite Chinese restaurant. Gentleman on the phone said 10 minutes and hung up. Upon arriving he says pepper steak. I'm like no beef and broccoli at which point he gets standoffish and accused me of lying. 8 don't even know what is in pepper steak, very rude. Bring your best God vibes if you go into this restaurant. You're gonna need that calming energy cuz this dude is rude as hell. Smh read more

In order to post, I had to give them stars. I chose one but they deserved None . We ordered two combination meals to go . One container only had about 3 tablespoons of the entrée, the rest was filled with rice. I could understand if the place was packed when I got there, but I was the only one there and there were no other orders to be picked up.. it used to be a good place to order from. I don't know if they're new owners or just new employees who don't care. I did call to tell them but the guy on the phone had absolutely nothing to say. As far as ambience, it wouldn't kill them to pick up a mop and clean up a bit.. I would stay away.. read more

Fast and easy service. Food is great, the fries my son loves a lot. Love the egg rolls combos come with, so good!!!

Surprised this place doesn't have better ratings. Easily the best Chinese food in the area. Many places around here lean towards bland but they always bring the flavor here. Plus the food is always ready right away without ever comprising quality. Seriously, when it comes to Chinese takeout, this place is undisputed. My staple and go-to for years. Anyone that gives this place a low rating hates flavor. read more

Eaters beware! I made the mistake of returning to First Wok tonight. There was a STAPLE in my egg roll (see photo)! Disgusting! Don't want to think about what would have happened if I had swallowed it. Additionally, the chicken slivers in the chicken lo mein were dried out & the sweet and sour chicken was actually extremely tough and overcooked consisting mostly of batter. Will not be returning to this "eating" establishment again! read more

First Wok Chinese Restaurant - The staple I found in my egg roll - Chinese Near Me - Keyport, New Jersey

Food is not good. Ordered Bang Bang chicken. I don't what to call what I got other than inedible

Way overdue writing a review. Coming here for many years. Great takeout spot in keyport. There are also some tables if you prefer to eat in. Great variety and the usually have blackboard specials. Easy to order by phone and usually ready in 10-20 minutes. We always pick up but they do deliver. Food is always fresh and consistent. Would definitely recommend. read more

Disgusting. Everything was nasty. The chicken wings all the wings the meat was black. Dumplings so thick you can eat them. Sauce is nasty. Rice had strips of fat. Don't go there. read more

Real shame these bad review ..Seems it's either new owners or new management. And since food and service has been very good again the way it used to be many years ago. It's a shame these new people have to inherit the old reviews but hope other will try them. read more

First wok Rules! I lived in town for years and these guys have been fast and consistent since they opened. It's a take out and delivery place they have a couple American girls taking care of the phones and they have been here for more than 10 years. They are fast and efficient. The food is terrific. Delivery is quick and they seldom make a mistake. First wok is the best Chinese take out in Monmouth county. We are lucky to have them in Keyport and they deliver to my house in Port Monmouth. read more

The terrible experience started from the time I placed my order until my first bite. The guy taking my order was completely rude, the food took an hour and half to be delivered and not surprisingly was cold and tasted like leftovers. I will never order from here ever again. This place should close or change ownership. If I could give 0 stars I would. read more

Awesome Chinese Take out place. Great value. Three people answering phones and 5 people cooking. Closed mondays.... for a Chinese place to close 1 day a week, it means they do so well that they cannot be bothered. That's a good sign. read more

An above average chinese restaurant. Prices are comparable to any other place but in my opinion, the food is higher quality. I believe their flavor is more balanced than most places. For example, their boneless spare ribs are not too sauced up like other versions. Not too salty either. Their pork fried rice is REAL and above average. None of that fake yellow rice which I'm finding everywhere nowadays. They also deliver everywhere it seems. Big plus!!! read more

Had warshu duck the worst duck I've ever had They should be ashamed i didn't have one piece of duck without fat. Disgusting. I wouldn't even give them a one rating read more

I do not recommend, several times I've ordered food and it is taking more than an hour delivered. Tonight was it! It took an hour and 50 for my food to be delivered. There was no, call no apology, I had to call several times and was treated rudely. Too bad because their food is actually pretty decent but not worth the wait! read more

I am pretty surprised by the very low ratings, and they actually kept me from trying this place for so long. We tried so many Chinese restaurants in the area after moving from Staten Island, and we were disappointed in all of them. We did find one we liked enough, but then they served me food that wasn't fresh three times (dried out spare ribs, hard fried rice and burnt roast pork), so we decided to try First Wok. We really liked it. We've been ordering from them for several months now and the food has been consistently fresh and good. I would not say it's as good as our Staten Island take outs, but it's pretty close. We have ordered quite a few things, and liked them all. Our go to's include the house special wonton soup, hot and sour soup, lo-mein, sweet and sour chicken, chicken and broccoli, boneless ribs, General's chicken and orange chicken. All have been good. If you want the chicken and broccoli in brown sauce though, you have to specify...otherwise it's in a white sauce. Quick delivery...order always correct. Give it a try. read more

Live here in Keyport and have never been disappointed with this place. The girls answering the phone are great. They always repeat the order and sound pleasant. For me, calling into Chinese takeout restaurants can be the most annoying part of the experience. Not here. Food is always how I ask for it, on time and tastes great. read more

Great take out food, all the fried appetizers are great. I recommend the boneless spare ribs, some of the best I've ever had from a Chinese take out spot. read more

Ok, this place used to be very good. But it has been on a downward spiral and it's time too call them out on it. They stopped the nice little things like tea bags and those fried noodles. The egg Fue young was burnt. Beef low main without beef and everything else was over cooked. Time to look for a new place. read more

Mostly I order steamed chicken and broccoli from here. I get brown rice and garlic sauce on the side. I have never been disappointed except when I try to go there on a Monday when they are closed My husband likes the general tsos made with white meat. First Wok Chinese Restaurant - a woman sitting at the counter - Chinese Near Me - Keyport, New Jersey

Black listed for no reason. A few weeks later ordered food and received a recipes with interesting information. Ordered food and the person taking the order asked for all card details including number, exp date, email and all addresses. I thought I was being scammed for identity due to ordering 17 times before that occasion and not being asked for that information (only card basic info). Disrespect at its finest read more

Fried rice was good. Pork egg roll was good. The sesame chicken, awful. It wasn't chicken. There is no chicken inside. It's just blobs of breadcrumbs. Zero chicken. Just sesame bread balls. Very disappointed. Good to get if you're vegetarian/vegan. read more

Absolutely worst Chinese food in the area. Beijing in cliffwood and sultan wok in matawan are 100 times better. Shrimp toast looks like a pickup truck ran it over and they insisted that's how shrimp toast is cooked!!! Cheese wonton tasted like sour spoiled cheese that smelled like a foot. 45 dollars worth of terrible food obviously cooked by incompetent cooks. Don't waste your money or time on this dump. Rude people. read more

They purposely screwed up my order. I ordered chicken wings and pork fried rice. I returned after the recommended 10 min wait time. My food was sitting out, where anyone could grab it, immediate red flag. I asked, is this my order? Older Asian man that originally took my order said yes. I ask him can I have a spoon? With 0 hesitation he says spoon is in bag. I looked in bag previously, but I look again only a fork. I said there's no spoon in there. Younger Asian man gives me spoon. I say thank you then go to my car. Because of spoon incident, I open box of food before I pull off. I see 2 wings and 1 deformed a$$ chicken leg. I immediately go back in ask wtf is this? Obviously not what I, ordered. They immediately, say 5mins to recook more wings as if they didn't expect to come back or they knew they messed up. I say ok, but also how did this happen? All my 30+ yrs ordering Chinese food this was indeed a First wok time. The younger guy ask me to calm down. I said sir, I am calm. I just wanted to know how that happen and everybody cool with it. No I'm sorry sir, no would you like a can of soda for your trouble. Almost as if I inconvenience them, after I spent my hard earned money like everyone else. The whole time younger Asian gentlemen giving me the death stare as if I wanted or initiated this whole mess. Finally, get my correct order still no apology, continued death stare. Food decent, yet there is no substitute for Accountability. read more

I have been going to first wok for the last 38 years. Even with owner change the food was always good. Not sure if new staff or owners this is the 2nd time in the last month that we paid for a item and was left out of the bag. The food taste different. Seems like recipes are different. We order same things everytime. Very loyal customer going to be looking for a new chinsee restaurant. Very sad read more

I liked it when Sammy owned it....I liked it when the husband and wife ran it....now they have a kid at the register....not friendly at all....had say say thank you to him twice for him to reply....Let the husband/wife run the front. It's kinda scary how consistently good their food is, the taste, the cook on the food, and their sauces that don't overpower or oil down the freshness of the food. Kudos read more

A staple in the towns options for cuisine, lasted through the worst of times around here and still remains open. Serving delicious food at a great price, you truly can't go wrong here. Had food delivered to my home use to use China Wok on Port Monmouth rd in Middletown but because I received a flyer I decided to go with first wok. Food arrived in a soaked paper bag entree had spilled. Not usually a problem but when I opened my Moo Shi vegetables it smelled burnt. After turning the food over I found both burnt mushrooms and pea pods hidden on the bottom. I called to complain and was offered a replacement meal after several attempts trying to explain what was wrong, this was 930pm on a Wednesday night. 50 min later the meal arrived. In the meantime i thought I would eat my egg rolls only to find them sitting in a 1/2 " of grease with paper towels remnants soaked with grease. Will never order their again! China wok much better read more

Terrible experience. There were pieces of aluminum scrubber in my ma po tofu. It went it my stomach while eating it and soon after I threw up (vomited). I had to rest for 2 hours and we tossed the map po tofu and the other two lunch specials fearing more such food poisoning. ( I still have one piece preserved). Later me and my wife went there and told the story to the guy. He said all they can do is give me the $8:50 for the ma po tofu. I did explain him all the wasted food, wasted time and wasted money. But the old owner just gave me $8:50 back. I did not have time to fight with them so we just left. Lesson: my strong belief is: the place is totally unclean and people who wash the pots leave the cleaning powder and metal scrubber pieces in the pots that are used to cook the food. Not sure what else goes into the pots that are used to cook. I will never go there again and i would recommend others to stay away from this place for your safety. Needless to say that the place most likely will fail inspection. read more

Don't go to this place. They took my money, forgot items and when I called to have it delivered they were extremely rude, told me they didn't care about my business and then hung up on me.
