Scheduled an appointment quoted $55 for acrylics, arrived a few minutes early & watch them take a couple of walk-ins at our scheduled time. They're 30 minutes late just getting me into the chair & had three different nail techs ask the exact same question about what I wanted to have done (I explained & showed a picture each time)... No price list displayed anywhere, I asked for acrylics & was told about the "new gel that doesn't use chemicals" okay- what about acrylics. Everything was an up charge, medium length +$, almond shape +$, French tip +$, add polkadots to 2 nails +$. Just them rattling off prices. I would not recommend this place. Scheduled appointments mean nothing, shady for a salon to have no price list just techs adding costs without a point of reference. read more

*Update:* It's been two years since I originally left this review. I've noticed the business has taken the time to respond to many other negative reviews, but mine was never acknowledged. I'm sharing this here as well because my experience still stands, and the lack of response only reinforces how overlooked I felt as a customer. -- I've been here twice and unfortunately both experiences were disappointing. I do enjoy the vibe when the salon is busy--it's pleasant and lively--but my actual service hasn't matched that. Both times I had the same nail tech. During my first visit, she seemed more focused on conversations with coworkers and other customers and acted irritated when she had to stop to work on my nails. The second visit was quieter, and I could tell pretty quickly it wasn't going to be a great experience, but I needed a fill because my nails were starting to hurt. I always get gel since I work with my hands and need it to last. The polish didn't even make it a week without chipping. What finally prompted this review is that tonight, while reaching into my purse, one of my nails made a popping sound and polish peeled right off. That tells me the color coat never fully cured--I've basically been walking around with a dry top coat over wet polish. I'm disappointed because I've seen so many good reviews, but this hasn't been my experience. I likely won't be back. read more

Well, I decided to try this place as I've never been.. what a mistake! They have no pricing ANYWHERE. They rushed me to pick my pedicure even thought there was NO ONE THERE! I selected the $60 organic foot soak and I chose a $15 gel color that was to be black and pink cat eye received black and silver cat eye with one little stripe across the nails. I go to check out expecting $75 bill right? WRONG!! $100!!! Then I had to tip as well using an app because they wouldn't accept tip from my card! I was ignored through my entire appt while they chatted amongst themselves! I have NEVER paid $100 for a damn basic pedicure! My husband called bc they wouldn't tell me why it was $100 and they pretended not to know who I was and hung up on him!! DO NOT GO HERE!! **editing to add my reply ** What a nonchalant, take no responsibility for not having pricing up front answer. What did I expect. The fact of the matter is it was not $75 dollars as I added from the $60 pedi and $15 up charge for the cat eye. It was $89, plus a $10 tip on a separate app. so where's the other $14 come from?? No other salon I've ever been to and had a cat eye done does one straight dumb line at an angle across the toes! This is the 3rd time I've gone to NK, the first couple fine no wait but expensive my mistake to ask for a receipt and just being Naive and hurry to pay. Today unfortunately we had appt that started at 2:30, and we didn't leave till about 5:30 most of it due to waiting since they kept letting walk ins come in and they had to stop on our nails so many times, then we got to go back for our pedicure (also on appt) and we Sat there for 30 mins with barely warm water and no one talked to us. Someone finally came and started to help us but unfortunately the language barrier was very difficult and they ended up just sighing and staring at me even when I asked for the complimentary drink they looked at me like I was annoying and inconveniencing them, someone else stepped in to help but again asked for polish color and was rude about and just seem like I bothered them, we almost got up and left because we were so uncomfortable. The worst part is I had to pay $137 for a mani (with Gel X) pedi, I understand the Mani is more expensive (50 on website) but I was not told it was 55+35 for polish and a design I was SHOCKED, I was also changed +5 for shaping my nails NEVER have I been charged extra, +5 for them to take off half a nail that had polish on it, we got NO massage for hand or feet/legs and felt very much ignored read more

This is for the pedicure service only. I've done walk in and appointments, and both times I only waited 5-10 min before starting the pedicure. They offer one complimentary drink and there weren't any weird add-ons to the bill. I want to say it was like $150 for two pedicures. My nails look great every time. This was my third time getting my nails done there after moving to Monroe. The first two times were okay, but the third experience was unforgivable--I had a terrible time. My nails were cleaned carelessly, hastily, and unprofessionally. No softening or soaking products were used, which led to my cuticles being cut badly. No lotion was applied after my nails were done. Three days later, my fingers were bleeding, severely inflamed, and I had to take painkillers for the pain. The nail polish was applied poorly and unevenly along the edges, and after a week, some nails had only half the polish left. I was traveling for six days and couldn't enjoy my trip because I was constantly uncomfortable due to the pain in my fingers. On the seventh day, after returning home, I went back to show them my nails. They told me it had been seven days, so they couldn't redo them. I was unfortunate to get a very unprofessional technician, and after this experience, I never want to go there again. I also wouldn't recommend it to others. I believe the management needs to hire skilled professionals and more polite staff. read more

I wanted to do a refill on my acrylic powder and they refused and made me get a whole new set. I asked how much is it going to be and I was told $65 when I was only wanting to go pay the $35 for a refill. I said okay and got my new set. I repeatedly asked the lady to fix scuffs on the nails and she huffed and puffed and ended up walking away. My total was $90! Way more than I was quoted and way above what I was willing to pay. Well I went before a vacation and had MULTIPLE sore nails from nicks and cuts. My big toe even got infected on my trip and made it hard to wear the shoes I brought to wear to on vacation. I've been to this place a couple times now and I really wanted to love it but have had just ok experiences. Each time, we had reservations, the first being for a friend's birthday last year. We had a long wait before being taken back and then were rushed through the pedicure to make space for the next clients. My friend wanted gel and a pretty design on her toes for her birthday and had a manicure and she had lots of issues with the technician and getting a nice result. I decided to try it again this month because I love the beautiful chairs and decorations of the salon, the facility seems really clean and I love the complimentary mimosa/wine, it really feels like a luxurious set up. Another friend and I made reservations for the luxury pedicures and were seated right away but had issues throughout. They wouldn't do a design in my big toe without going with gel. I've never had a place not willing to do a simple flower or stripe or in this case I just wanted gold sparkles on the black paint. It was just frustrating to try to be forced to buy the more expensive gel when I don't like the material. I would think a 60 dollar pedicure would include more than just a single base paint that was really messy and edges not even cleaned up. My friend and I got the same pedicure but she had a long massage and I didn't get that. I was left in the water without bubbles or a technician for most of my time then scrubs and lotions quickly applied and removed. Overall it's a decent place with nice people, new comfortable chairs, and love the complimentary drink. I probably will not return because the service quality just isn't consistent or comparable to other competitors. read more

They didn't give my nails enough time to soak off gel and ended up using the efile and over filed my nails leaving them weak and ruined. I had gone here many times and never had a great experience. Always waited at least 15 minutes even if I had an appointment. When getting acrylics taken off they never soaked my nails they just painfully ripped mine off by sliding another acrylic nail underneath. Always attitude. Paint job uneven as well as uneven shaping. Cut and made me bleed MANY times. Now the last straw... Second to last appointment the woman was ripping off my acrylics with a fake nail. This was extremely painful and tore apart my natural nail causing blood. It was EXTREMELY painful when putting on the acrylic powder on top off all the cuts and raw nail. When she shaped my nails with the drill and cut almost ever finger and drew blood. Then proceeded to file aggressively even in the cuts getting blood all along the nail file. Never said a word, not even sorry. Most painful nail experience EVER. I thought maybe this was a one time thing since I hadn't had this particular tech often but next time I went the same thing happened. I keep hearing this is the best place to get your nails done in Monroe and yes it's clean and very nice inside. You do get a free drink at the time of your service (wine/soda/mimosa) which is a nice perk. But the nails do not hold up minus their pedicures which are REALLY nice ! My acrylic set lasted a week , they were $80 , my shellac manicure lasted a weekend, but the regular pedicures last weeks ! Both times I got my nails done, my cuticles and such were not cleaned up just straight to the polish after cutting my nails down and letting them soak in warm water. My nails were short lived which is bummer but a good place to go for a pedicure. read more

I've been to NK nails twice now, first time didn't have complaints besides it being more expensive then what I was originally thinking. Second time (today) to get gel x nails & a pedicure. My nails turned out just the way I wanted them but the service made me not want to go back. During my manicure, there were multiple swaps between employees who were switching to do my nails to go help walk ins when I had made an appointment, repetitive questions on what I wanted to do with nails because they kept switching employees, but I had made everything clear on what I wanted to the first employee who had started my nails and so thought was going to be the ones doing my nails the whole time. The pedicure was not enjoyable what so ever. I felt very uncomfortable with the employees choice of annoyance towards me & the person I was with by simply just answering the questions they asked to the point that I wanted to leave the salon. The water was cold/ Luke warm, the employees weren't very nice and we sat there for 30-45 minutes waiting for our turn, but we had made an appointment prior that they were aware of. At the end to top it all off, my bill was very high to what I was expecting to pay for a mani/pedi. They charged me for the Gel X nails, $5 to shape my nails (assumed that was included in my overall price $55, since it is part of getting your nails done), and $15 for chrome along with my pedicure price. read more

One gal who was a different technician started prepping me while she was working with another client. I was definitely not scheduled in to their day. I ended up getting a mani/pedi. I ended up getting my bill and there were sooooo many additions even the nail shape that I chose was an extra $5. What in the world. My cost was $151 without a required cash tip on top of this bill. This used to be my favorite nail place in Monroe. I'm not sure if they've undergone new ownership, or just new staffing. But my experience today was far below previous experiences. I came in for an acrylic fill. The tech who did my fill nicked my skin many times. After each time of me yelping and pulling my hand away I thought she would take more care. But it continued to happen. At least a dozen times throughout my fill. The polish change on my toes was fine. Previous fills were $28 dollars. This one was $40 which I was not told about until I went to pay for my services. Evidently they upgraded me to gel polish. I've never had gel polish. I always have gotten regular polish. Of course the bottles look different so when I chose my color as I'd been instructed to and asked if this was "normal" polish the reply was "yeah". When I asked why I had been up charged I was told because I had come in with gel color. Not true. Looks like I'm searching for a new nail place. One that asks before they upcharge and understands how not to injure clients. read more
