Finally broke quarantine to get my nails done and I'm so glad I did! I've been a customer of N&J for years and it's such a relief the shutdown didn't make them go out of business. Everyone that works there is great: Hannah, Sofia, Katie and Vanny. They are all very professional, take their time and provide excellent service. The shop offers a full range of options: acrylic, gel, dip powder, regular polish and a variety of pedicure options. Hannah does my acrylics and I appreciate that she always shapes them to my request and have found that they are not overly thick or heavy like some techs make them. I regularly get compliments on the quality and look of them from friends and strangers. COVID: the salon is now appointment only, upon entering your temperature is checked, you're asked to sanitize your hands (sanitizer provided) and required to wear a mask. The staff only accepts minimal appointments at a time and keeps customers a minimum of 6 feet from each other. There are plastic patroons between you and the tech at both the mani and pedi stations and chairs are thoroughly wiped between customers. All equipment is sanitized between customers and/or wiped down per the appropriate CDC guidelines. read more

So I will start this review off by saying they dont do a bad job but the customer service is less desirable. I have been here several times and they take forever to even acknowledge you. She didnt even acknowledge me. I sat down and 20 minutes later she came up to me and said I ha e to come back because they were busy. My mouth dropped. Terrible service and the nails only last about a week before they are just falling off like press on nails. The location is convenient but, they will no longer receive my business. There is also only 2 people that work in there and anytime I'm getting a service done, I'm told "we are squeezing you in" we have another appointment even though the sign on the door clearly says no appointment needed. I've been here twice and it's becoming a go-to for me. In fact, I like the place and staff so much that I booked my wedding party here. I love that they have a large selection of OPI, CND, and Jessica matching gel/regular polish choices. I do gel on my hands and regular on feet and I want my polish to match. It's hard to find a place with such a great selection. They've always been accommodating and nice. The only reason I didn't give five stars is because depending on what tech serves you, it could take over an hour to finish your help mani/ regular pedi, which I find unacceptable. I'd hoped for a better experience at N & J Nails, but was instead disappointed. My sisters and I walked in without appointments and were pleased to be immediately accommodated, but the service was quite abrupt. It's never fun to be treated as though someone is doing you a favor when in reality you're paying for their services. Additionally, the woman who did my pedicure only did one coat of nail polish before applying a top coat, whereas two coats is what I would expect from any nail salon. My sister's French manicure was likewise disappointing; the manicurist left flecks of polish on her skin and painted over the cuticle, causing the paint there to dry out and crack quickly. This was my first pedicure in Indianapolis. Service was great; everyone is very friendly. They have a huge polish selection available. I would say pretty average prices for pedicures, and I appreciate they have options on a menu when you get in your pedicure chair. They don't try to up-sell you like at many salons. They were quick but thorough; I was very pleased with the quality of the paint job. Tools are retrieved in sanitizer packaging (I'm not sure of the exact process, but at least it seems clean?). The only thing I would change is I like when the pedicure chairs have removable basin liners to at least *appear* a bit more sanitary. I called ahead to see if they could take me at 6:45 since they close at 7:30. They were hesitant but they said it was fine. When I got there the manicurist said I was lucky they took me because he was tired from working and he would not have if there wasn't another appointment still there. I thanked him for taking me because I didn't know what else to do. He then went on the complain about being understaffed. Which I sympathized with (especially since it was the Friday before labor day and I'm sure he was ready for a long weekend). He then started doing my gel fill and was super rough. He used a really large head on the electric sander which would scuff the skin around my nail. I winced once when it started burning and he asked if he got me. When I said yeah he chuckled and said "well just wait, the next part will be worse". I asked him "what?" And he repeated that the "next part would be worse because he was going to do my cuticles". Then as He was sanding down a nail he lost control of the tool, sanding my pinky. He then said it was my fault and "that is why people need to relax more. Relax." How am I supposed to relax when my finger nails are being sanded off?? I was not a fan. They were condescending about the shape of my nails when I came in, the service was rough, and i can still see parts of my nail through the color. read more

I went in for a fill of my acrylic nails and a pedicure... it was my first time at this salon. I WON'T GO BACK! The guy that did my fill did an excellent job... he took a lot of time - filled and filed my nails perfectly... but then he passed me to a girl to do my pedicure and polish my nails. It then became the worst nail salon experience I've ever had. I'd say I received 20% of a typical pedicure... my feet weren't rough on the bottom when I went in, but they were when I left. HOW DOES THAT HAPPEN? It's laughable how bad the shaping and the poilish on my toes looks... not one nail is polished all the way to the cuticle... and on most of them, the polish stops an eighth of an inch from covering the sides. THEN she painted my nails WHILE I sat in the pedicure tub. They were hideous. I commented on one nail while she was painting and I got attitude... she literally huffed! So I didn't complain to her any more, she put me under the dryer and left and I went to the guy who did my fill and showed him my polish and he fixed it... if you could call it that... he painted over what she did. So now you can see a ridge where her polish stopped and where his covered it. I paid $41 and tipped $7 - for a total of $48 -- but I feel like I got a $10 experience at best! read more

I was over charged because the guy thought I got my fingernails done with them. If he wasn't for sure, he could have asked. I guess I should take it as a compliment but that meant he received a $15.00 tip...if they have only two employees working and the system is always to do pedi first, then hands(which was the routine they were doing)-he would have realized that I should have been charged $25.00 and not $40.00. read more

I tried a couple different places after moving to Indy, but after I happened to try N&J, I know I won't be going elsewhere. In short, they are all very friendly and professional. I appreciate all the attention to detail they provide. For example, on one occasion they put me in a pedicure chair and had the water going while the gentleman that was going to help me was finishing up another client. I waited for about 10 minutes, which wasn't a problem, and he came over twice to warm the water and make sure it didn't get cold. I really appreciate little details like this. Their pedicure chairs are also VERY comfortable and they even have small ones for little girls which is a nice touch since a lot of moms come in with their kids. Usually I end up trying a place and when I go back my experience changes--either for better or worse--and I don't know whether I will be disappointed or not. This is not the case with N&J. I leave happy every single time and I know that no matter who helps me that day, they're all great. We've all been to a nail place where only one or two people actually know what they're doing and subsequently, those people are always booked. I usually get a pedicure and gel nails, and I've also tried waxing (underarms). This place is my go to nail place in Indy. I moved here months ago and have been getting my nails done here. I have had three different ladies do my nails..the first one was the longest lasting manicure I've ever had. Nearly 3.5 weeks and they still looked good just grown out. The second lady helped me pick a color when I couldn't decide and I got tons of compliments on it. The third redid my nail design three times to make sure it was the right glitter and looked exactly the way I wanted.
