So relieved I found this spot! It's not easy to find a skincare genius that not only is great at what they do (facials, dermaplaning, microblading and more), but can answer all your one-off questions while doing it. She's been in this studio for nine years and therefore has a lot of skincare knowledge. I showed up to my first appointment with a bag full of the products I use. Julie immediately commented that she wasn't thrilled with my moisturizer and that I could be doing better. I instantly knew I'd trust her based on that comment alone. I love someone who can tell me like it is. Cheers to improving. Julie's studio is tucked in the Carmel Office Suites off of Carmel Drive and Keystone. It's located behind the McDonald's on that corner and is a big building that serves as a beauty haven. There are about a hundred different little beauty studios within this building and it's a fun, girly spot to visit. Julie's studio is on the second floor and was spotless, fresh and beautiful. She has one facial studio and one microblading studio - both next to each other. She uses Skinceutical products (which if you're not familiar, are highly-recommended and effective products). I've heard the brand mentioned multiple times from all the celebrity estheticians I follow on Instagram and had been wanting to try them. Julie kept my facial simple by washing it, doing extractions, using a steam machine, using this awesome light tool that zaps bacteria on your face, this awesome gel moisturizer that she said would hydrate my skin much better than my current moisturizer, retinol she had recommended for me (it was an evening appointment so she got my face "ready for bed" - yay!), and more. She also sent me home with a few Skinceutical samples that I'm excited to try. Super excited to go back and use the new products she's recommended for me. If you've never gotten a facial before, I HIGHLY recommend going at least once, because the products you might be using in your daily life could be worsening your skin without you realizing it. A very relaxing experience. I had a facial, pore extractions, and whats called a men's groomer. Basically, its hair removal for all the spots (above the neck) I tend to miss with a razor. Ears, nose, eyebrows. You know, the stuff most guys just forget about. Julie is always very gentle and the experience is always perfect. This last time she had some extra time in her day (I got really lucky) and she gave me a very relaxing facial. I don't normally pamper myself like this, but it was well worth it. I hate extraction. I hate the heat, the towels, the tight wrap. Amazing! I have been a client of the Skin Spot since it opened and have never been disappointed. I love the new Carmel location, which is behind the Bank across from Steak n' Shake off of Carmel Drive, near Keystone Ave. The convenience is a plus but the real appeal is the art in what she does. There are salons at every corner offering new items and 'sales' daily. The Skin Spot offers something I cannot get anywhere else, which is a personable experience AND a quality service at a good price. This was my first time at the skin spot. I recently moved to Carmel and was nervous about finding someone new to do my eyebrows. Well, I couldn't have picked a better place to try first! Julie is amazing at what she does. Her place is soothing and calm and decorated very nicely. She explained her philosophy about eyebrows is that your face determines the natural shape. She gave me a great, natural looking wax and I couldn't be happier. Best of all, she uses a soy based "wax" product that is the temperature of your skin (no burns) followed by a cooling agent and a high frequncy wand. Julie is fantastic. She is the owner and couldn't be sweeter or better at what she does. I used to go to her all the time when she was at her Fishers location. I confess that since she moved I haven't come back simply because it wasn't as close and I tried another anesthetist. What a gigantic mistake.
