Great food quality and service. Not traditional Mexican food, but great quality and delicious. Cocktail expensive, especially given they are smaller than usual. Great service. Sevrral beers from $7.50 -$9. 3rd time and excellent each time. read more

oh my goodness the BEST tacos i have ever had. fast service, fun ambience, and wonderful food. they are expanding in the Sacramento area..and do you know they have a Michelin star? read more

The food is good, but not worth the terrible service. We came in at 3:20pm and left by 4:00pm. It took 15 minutes for our server, Berlin, to actually approach the table and bring water, while it only took 5 minutes for our food to come out. At the end of our meal, our server brought the check without even asking if we were wanting to order dessert. We were going to order dessert, however after the terrible service and attitude from Berlin, we decided to get dessert somewhere else. This was our 3rd visit here and thus far the service has been unimpressive, but this was by far the worst service we've gotten anywhere in awhile. We had to ask for water for our toddler 3 times. The restaurant was very slow during this time, so there was no excuse for this terrible service. read more

The tacos are good and so are the drinks! Always comes out fast, service is hit or miss.

We came in mid week to try the new Nixtaco in Folsom. There was a 15 minute wait for our table so ordered drinks at the bar. They also brought us complimentary delicious chips with four different types of salsa dip. When our table was ready, we decided to try the guacamole and couple of the tacos. When the guacamole came, it had some very thick homemade corn tortillas for dipping. My husband thought the guacamole was terrible. It was very watery and pretty bland. I make guacamole at home so I know what goes into a great guacamole. They had used over ripe avocados and put very little seasoning into it. For $14 I was expecting a spectacular guacamole. I ordered the Carne Asada taco and my husband ordered the Chicharron taco. Again, they had the very thick corn tortilla, which I liked, but my husband didn't. Both tacos were sitting in a puddle of liquid. My husband's taco fell apart when he was eating it. Mine didn't fall apart, but why all the liquid? It sure made for a mess when you were eating it. My taco tasted good. My husband said his was fair. I think this restaurant is a lot of hype for nothing. If we went back, we would probably sit at the bar and have drinks and their chips / salsa again. We would skip the food. We were really looking forward to this new restaurant and we were sadly disappointed. read more

They use the 'guilt tipping' devices for payment ( no paper checks) and are reluctant to show their customers itemized bills prior to requesting payment for the meal. This is a deceptive practice as the customer should always be presented on paper all items they are being charged for. read more

If you haven't been to Nixtaco yet, you're seriously missing out. The pork belly taco here is nothing short of life changing. Perfectly tender, rich, and bursting with flavor in every single bite. It's the kind of taco that makes you pause mid meal just to appreciate how good it really is. What really sets Nixtaco apart is the service, always a solid 10 out of 10. The staff is friendly, attentive, and makes you feel genuinely welcome every time you walk in. Combine that with incredible food like the pork belly taco and it's easy to see why Nixtaco has become a go to spot. Highly recommend! read more

Food was great and felt fresh! The highlight was the staff. Everyone was so attentive and on top of it. We got our food quick and it was nice and hot. The hostess was so sweet to our 18 month son. She engaged with him and made sure to say goodbye. We will be back this was a great experience. read more

Tacos are excellent and the salsa is the best around. Great service, atmosphere, and cocktails as well. We miss Cantina Pedregal but these are the same owners, and the tacos are easily the best in Folsom. Great to have Nixtaco so close to home. We love this place! read more

The service was very fast, the food was amazing. The Nashville Hot chicken is quite hot, so for the timid - be prepared to sweat. Kids enjoyed the quesadillas with a side of rice. read more

Was not a fan of the meat it was almost like a soggy texture. Also I want with a group of girls and shortly after we were done eating the waitress came up to us and pretty much asked us to lease so they could sit another group there!! We won't be returning!! read more

Stopped by after work. Sat at the bar. Got a mocktail that was delicious! The bartender Oliver was amazing! It was super fun watching him work. He knew his liquors, shared his knowledge with the customers and also knew when not to engaged because the customer was working on his laptop. The tacos were ok. The carne asada taco was overfilled with steak. Cooked well, needed some more acid though, I asked for limes. They helped. The chicharron taco wasn't crispy like the description said it would be. The salsas were great, loved the peanut one. The potato taco was ok too. Definitely needed some more crema. The bar area itself did seem a little cluttered over by the kitchen window. Boxes stacked everywhere. Random books where the food comes out. I would return to try other things, but only on the days Oliver is working. read more

So, as others have said, it's sad to see Pedragal go, but we had a great lunch here. Same lovely design, friendly and attentive service, and, most importantly, delicious food. Had pork belly and spicy shrimp tacos and they were both great. Had a bite of my wife's octopus taco and it was startlingly flavorful. Finished up with amazing churros. If we had to lose Pedragal, at least we got wonderfully unique tacos. read more

Nixtaco - Spicy shrimp and pork belly tacos. - Mexican Near Me - Folsom, California

Called ahead to reserve a table for my wife and 3-year-old son. A middle-aged woman told us, "Come in--we'll have a table ready for you." But when we arrived, the same woman said they were too busy to seat us--even though we had just called and could clearly see three open tables outside. She eventually realized how unprofessional that looked and finally seated us outdoors. We ordered drinks but never received the salsa sampler that was part of the order. Service was mediocre--I'd give it a 3 out of 5. Our server seemed more focused on chasing a big tip from a larger party than noticing that we were missing items. The food didn't justify the price. The only highlights were the habanero salsa and my son's bean burrito. Overall, not a place I'd return to anytime soon. read more

My wife and I werReally disappointed about the chips situation. Our friends recommended getting Nixtaco for dinner when we had them over. They got a large bag of chips which looked to be just a big bag of Tostitos. About a quarter of the bag was just crumpled chips. Our friends told us that they normally have homemade chips. We went to the Roseville location and apparently the new chips are here to stay. That's very disappointing as the low quality chips really dampens the experience of eating here. read more

The food is overpriced. Fairly tasty but small portions. I've been twice and they either need more time to dial it up or nah.

A good place for the drinks and a majority of the menu items. Very nice and attentive staff. Timely delivery of food. Although it can get very busy very quickly the service is still impeccable. Atmosphere is welcoming and the family-friendly. The only issue we observed is there are no free refills for lemonade or other nonalcoholic beverages. Nor did our server inform us of it. Communication is key. Other than that it was a super dining experience. read more

AMAZING food in a relaxed environment. I like that you can order small plates and share! Everything was great.

Ate an early dinner there last night. First time there. Loved everything about it. The restaurant decor, friendly and attentive staff, absolutely delicious food fairly priced. They bring you waters, chips and a sampling of salsas to start. I had the pork belly taco and the birria taco. Both were really good!! Washed them down with a local IPA. I'll be back!! read more

Can't wait to go back! I had several tacos and they were all amazing! Our server, Lisa, was super attentive and made our experience even better with great recommendations. Their margaritas were delicious and made with natural juices and not loaded with processed mixers. Their homemade tortillas are delightful and I will be taking some home next time. Decor was welcoming and fun and I will be returning soon. read more

The food is amazing. Whenever my kids visit from Washington DC, we have to get some Nixtacos. We were excited to find this new location. It's more spacious with better ambience. The food is the same as the original locations food - delicious! Service was attentive and efficient. read more

Some of the best tacos I've ever had!! Spent 15 years in San Diego and another 6 in OC so finding Mexican food that stands up to what got used to there was not easy but Nixtaco definitely hold up to any standard down there. Go get some!! read more

This review not about the service, seating or even the ambiance, as all were great. This is strictly about the food, we loved visiting the previous restaurant Pedregal-always delicious and so fresh. Not sure why the high reviews as the food is not great. The chips are not homemade and stale, the salsas were alright. We tried the potato, cauliflower, birria, roadkill, and salad, nothing to write home about. Disappointed, sure wish the same quality and flavors were like Pedregal. What a let down, we won't be back. read more

The margaritas are awful, food and service were ok. Nothing extra special that I would go out of my way for.

2nd visit in a week. Absolutely the best tacos and sides around!!! Music was great too. You've got to go!!! Roseville location is smaller, older and authentic. Folsom is bigger and just as good, has a couple more selections. read more

So happy to have Nix Taco in Folsom. Roseville is still my go to, love the bar and vibe. I have been to the Folsom store 2 times. The food wonderfully the same as Roseville. The Folsom bar is way too crowded. Take chair out of extend the bar seating. Touching shoulders and trying to eat and drink at the bar is uncomfortable. Very noisy inside. Regardless food is the best. read more

Great service & great food. Our party sampled several varieties of tacos & burritos and all were delicious! Beer was nice & cold too. Only downside is sitting outside on an otherwise pleasant patio at 5 pm on a Saturday night listening to several cars and trucks & motorcycles on Cirby getting ready for the Saturday night street races, speeding , mufflers roaring ! I hope there can someday be a little more room for a nice outside patio ! Quieter with the ambience that this great place deserves! read more

Food is expensive , greasy , really got no flavor , no rice and beans , this is same owner of last place here , both of his concepts are not a success , zero stars read more

We were sad to see Pedregal gone, so we tried Nixtaco. Food: perfecto! We had the spicy shrimp taco, pork belly taco, and octopus taco. All amazing. Service: fast and friendly. (Shout out to Ben, a wonderful server.) Margaritas: so good! Do not, I repeat, do not leave without trying the churros! Best we've ever had! We'll be back.....probably tomorrow! read more

Not exactly certain what the business relationship is between the Folsom & Roseville locations but recently tried Folsom and it was unmitigated WOW! Service was impeccable, the restaurant itself is located next door to Mikuni (also, seriously yum-factor) and the food...the food..."wonderful" doesn't do it justice. This is such a great place: the menu is extensive but not overwhelming and almost all of the items can be prepared as tacos or as burritos. Everything is ala carte which eliminated over-stuffed burritos with anything other than what you expect in taco format. The spicy shrimp, vegetarian corn (could have been dessert!), chicken burrito-style, and the BEST refried beans that rival and maybe ever surpass Zocalo's terrific beans, were all downright killer. The "red rice" was okay, but helped out with some side salsa, which is offered in four different heat scales. This is a place to bring friends, family, date nights, casual lunches, and outstanding food, and it won't require a second mortgage. Generous wine pours also. The day manager (I don't catch his name) was gracious and professional. Loved it. Wish I could give it 6 stars. read more

Food too salty. Didn't like the atmosphere. Not worth what i paid for. Was my first time and i would not go back for sure

Very expensive for what it is. I had a margarita it was $14 and not very good. Definitely overpriced. My daughter had a kids burrito and a side of rice. The side of rice was $7.50 which is crazy. I had the pork belly taco which was good. I also had a shrimp taco which was meh and a fried chicken taco which was not good. Chicken was overcooked and had a weird taste. My wife had a steak burrito which was tasty. Still way overpriced for what we had. It was $85 for 2 adults and 1 preteen. read more

I am so confused by all the hype. The food was not good. It was SO bland - the kids burrito was terrible and was $10! The mushroom quesadillas were boring and we tried a variety of tacos (Nashville hot chicken, spicy shrimp, roadkill, and more) and they were just bland. Spicy shrimp had zero kick to it. The service was somewhat slow considering we were the only people in the restaurant for awhile. It's decorated okay, overall, super disappointed. Ashamed to have brought my Mexican mother in law. She did not enjoy. read more

Taco flavors were off and didn't taste very good together. It was hard to tell who was staff and who wasn't. Also one of the waitresses was in my opinion dressed inappropriately with her shirt or lack there of. Beans didn't have any taste. Overall I think the food was very mediocre- was disappointed. read more

Forget your preconceptions about what Mexican food should be. Order anything on the menu. Take a bite. Let your senses do the rest. It's a wow in every bite. Enjoy! read more

We had high hopes and have given this place 3 tries to see if they can get the food and service up to par with the Roseville location. Service is lacking big time, food still isn't the same as the Roseville location, and we have to ask for water and napkins AFTER they deliver chips and salsa every single time? That should be a standard service item instead of sitting there thirsty and unable to wipe our hands after eating chips with no waiter in sight to take your drink order. Anyway, good luck. We will be making our way back to Roseville even though this location is next to our house. :( read more

Been here a couple times, have had fantastic service. Staff was attentive and nice, checked that we had enough chips, drinks, water, and food came out fast. Great guacamole and nice variety of tacos. Tried Happy Hour today and liked that all tacos are included in the $2 off discount and not just certain ones. The spicy margarita is good if you like a little heat. We happened to mention to the bartender it was our anniversary and we had decided to come by and enjoy some Happy Hour snacks. When we were ready to leave, he told us they comped our margaritas and said Happy Anniversary. This was definitely not expected and a very kind gesture. Love places like this with tasty food and great customer service! read more

Walked in on a Tuesday night with my wife and the hostess say's "I like your T-shirt" (had an NFL logo on it). We get taken to our seats and the bus boy comes over and says "I like your t-shirt". Hmmm, the first one made me think I made a great t-shirt selection, the second made me suspicious that they tell all their staff to compliment the patrons on something they are wearing. That seems confirmed by the other reviews that mention they experienced the same thing. After being seated, we noticed that the only thing on the table was a knife and fork, no napkins or other items. The ambience was also very loud. We waited several minutes and then the bus boy delivers our chips and salsa tray. Several more minutes goes by and we've yet to be greeted by our server. We finally flag someone down and ask if we could get some water while we wait. More minutes goes by, we get the water and ask if they could see our server so we could order. She finally comes by and was obviously a bit frazzled and apologized profusely for the wait, which was appreciated. We placed our order for 4 different tacos a la carte and two margaritas, and also requested some napkins for the table. Food and drinks were delivered quickly to the table but once again had to request napkins which were a necessity as the tacos are very oily but also very flavorful. Eventually, one of the staff delivers a stack of brown paper towels (not napkins) that look like they were just taken out of the restroom dispenser. Interesting, did they run out of napkins and grab these from the restroom or is this the normal offering. Here's the rub. Tacos are relatively small, I'd say no more than 4-5 bites each. Most are $7/taco with a few priced at $7.80 and $6.00. The Cadillac margaritas were $17 each! So, our order of 6 tacos and 2 margaritas, plus tax and tip, came in at just under $100! A little steep if you're celebrating Taco Tuesday. The menu of designer tacos (think Mas Taco) was interesting but for less than half the price, better, service, and (IMHO) better food, I'd go to La Fiesta Taqueria on East Bidwell in Folsom. read more
