Once Mom was able to return home we knew she would need assistance during the day while we were away. Lauren was mentioned during a support group for a rare disease my Mother has. She was very thorough, communicative and listened to what my Mother needed. It took a reasonable amount of time to find the right caregivers that meshed well with Mom. But, that was expected, as new people enter one another's lives it takes time to find the right fit. Lauren's team literally saved her life. Part of Mom's neurodegenerative disease impacts her ability to chew, and swallow. While taking her morning vitamins one day, Mom began choking and the visiting angel with her immediately knew what to do. Had the caregiver not been with Mom that day she wouldn't be us. Unfortunately because the disease continued to progress we eventually had to find a suitable home to provide her with 24 hour assistance. Had Mom's disease not progressed, we would not have stopped working with Lauren and her Visiting Angels team. Lastly, I believe SD Visiting Angels was previously owned and operated by someone else, prior to Lauren taking ownership. I cannot speak to the caliber of the earlier company, however, Lauren is a knowledgeable, genuine and caring person. We are thankful we were able to work together to source caregivers for our loved one.

Her last one was a success to remove tumor in jun 2021. The home health team of occupational therapist Alissa, Stacey, her physical therapist Alex, speech therapist Andrea and nursing staff Alyce, Hersey and Anita all were all just absolutely incredible with my mother. My mother went from bed bound to walking with a walker and doing more day to day activities for herself. This journey has been a miracle and we are excited to see more independence for my mother as she now will be going to an outpatient program. In our case, the client was left stranded in a wheelchair without any immediate attempt by the company to send a replacement. Specifically, she was left entirely alone from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM, completely unable to move around and with no food or water within reach. She sat stranded for five hours in a state of severe panic and distress until a replacement employee was finally sent to assist her. This is an incredibly callous and dangerous practice. We are actively looking for a different care provider.

From start of Eli's physical therapy last November 2016 through Mid January 2017 my mother had stopped needing her walker, and takes her cane as security only on leaving the house. She stayed with exercise plans Eli had shown and trained us to do. 6 days a week 20 minutes to 30 minutes a day . We have had Eli come back for a review of mom's therapy, and general condition especially mobility and balance.
